//------------------------------// // The Stopwatch // Story: A Wild Twist Appeared! // by PinkiePie37 //------------------------------// “Huh? Oh my goodness! MY CUTIE MARK! MY CUTIE MARK!” Twist yelled. It was a stopwatch with the face of it swirling out. The hands had shadows as if they were spinning around rapidly. One day, Twist was walking home from school, and was ready to do her homework, but she tripped over something. It was a stopwatch, but not any regular stopwatch. This stopwatch had more buttons then a normal one. There was also a red button in the middle of the two hands and a date, month, and year setting. She stared at it for a while. She thought, maybe, just maybe, it could be a time traveling device. Then she realized that traveling through time wasn’t possible. But, she still wondered what mysteries lie behind this stopwatch, so she took it home. She finished up her homework and went upstairs. Twist had hid the watch in her room in the last drawer of her polished wood dresser. She took it out and looked at it, again, she had never seen any stopwatch like this one. She wondered about that red button in the middle. She had many questions, but didn’t know who to ask. She then remembered somepony named Dr. Whooves. There were rumors he had a time traveling device of his own. But, this was called a rumor for a reason. And, who even said that this, thing, was a time traveling device. She pondered this. She didn’t know who Dr. Whooves was, so it could be dangerous. If she pressed that button, she didn’t know what could happen. She had to go, it was burning her up inside not knowing what this mysterious stopwatch did. But before she could go, she had to ask around first and on top of that, it was getting late. Twist had decided to put it off for tomorrow. THE NEXT DAY She had no homework today, and she was happy because that meant she’d have more time to talk to the mysterious pony, Dr. Whooves. She had asked around and some people knew him, but didn’t have a sufficient amount of information on him since he wasn’t that well known. She then exclaimed, “I know! I’ll ask Twilight!” There was no one around so no one heard her. She began rushing towards Twilight’s house, but then stopped and remembered she had not gone home yet. She galloped toward her house as fast as she could. She ran in, gave her mother a hug, threw her stuff down and ran upstairs. Twist grabbed the stopwatch and ran back downstairs. Twist picked up her bag and placed the watch into it. She told her mother she was going to a friend’s house. Even though she did not feel right lying to her mother, she had to, to keep herself sane. She could not go on without knowing what this stopwatch did. Despite still being out of breath from running to her house, she began running towards Twilight’s. When she made it, she was breathing very heavily and loudly. When she at least slightly caught her breath, she knocked on the door and patiently waited for Twilight to come and answer it. When Twilight answered the door, she didn’t see anyone at first, but then looked down and saw Twist looking up and staring at her. “Well, hello Twist! What brings you to my library?” Twilight said “Um, I’m not sure you have information on this, but, do you have any information on somepony by the name of, Dr. Whooves?” Twist said. “Dr. Whooves? Hm, Dr. Whooves. Dr. Whooves. Oh! You’re in luck! I just borrowed the Equestrian Census. Here, come in, we can look at it and see if we can find any information on, Dr. Whooves.” Twilight said “Okay.” Twist said walking through the door as Twilight closed it. “One second. Spike, could you get me the Census I borrowed from Princess Celestia please?” She was surprised as she heard a voice from upstairs say “Okay Twilight. Just give me a minute.” She then remembered who Spike was. He was Twilights assistant. “So, while we are waiting on Spike, I must ask, if you don’t mind, why do you want information on Dr. Whooves?” Twilight asked. Twist wasn’t sure if she should tell Twilight or not. But, then again, she is letting her use her book to look up information on Dr. Whooves, so she decided she that she was going to show Twilight. “Well, I found this, stopwatch, on the ground and even though it may not seem possible, I think it might be a time traveling device.” Twist said, thinking Twilight would think she was being paranoid and not take this seriously because she was a kid. “Oh, interesting. May I see it? I believe you. I could tell you didn’t think I did by your actions.” Twilight said, staring at her bag. “Sure you can! I mean, you are letting me use your books and all.” Twist said as she pulled out the stopwatch and handed it to Twilight. “Hmm, this is interesting. One last question if you don’t mind. Is this the reason you want to know about Dr. Whooves? And if it is, why him?” The curious Twilight said “Yes, and I heard he had a time traveling device of his own. And if this is a time traveling device, he probably could teach me how to use it.” Said Twist as she took back the stopwatch and put it in her bag. Just as she put it in, Spike came down with the Census. “Here you go Twilight.” Spike said, as he let the big, heavy book drop to the floor. “Thank you very much Spike.” Twilight said as she moved it in front of her and motioned for Twist to come over. She was flipping through the pages until she got to the “W” section and then scanned. “Oh! Here he is! Dr. Whooves.” Twilight said as she moved over for Twist to see. “3927 Magic Avenue? Where is that? Twilight, do you know where that is?” She said. “I’m sorry Twist, but I can’t say I do.” Twilight said. “Well, thanks Twilight, for letting me use your books. That was really nice.” Twist said as she stood up and picked up her bag. “You’re very welcome! I’m always happy to help a fellow pony!” Twilight said as she stood up and opened the door for Twist. As she walked out, she noticed that it was getting dark. “UGH! Not again!” She exclaimed. As Twist started to walk home, she noticed she walked right by Magic avenue, she stopped. She thought about going to Dr. Whooves house. She was right there and it was so close, right within grasp, but she couldn’t, her mom would kill her. But this stopwatch, it was eating her up on the inside, she just couldn’t take it any longer. She slowly started walking down the dimly lit street.
