//------------------------------// // A fallen star // Story: A fallen star // by happyman21789 //------------------------------// Its dusk in the land of Equestria as Celestia a tall white alicorn with a flowing four colored mane and tail is lowering the sun to make way for the moon. As the sun goes down Luna a smaller dark blue alicorn with a flowing sea of stars for her mane and tail starts raising the moon with her magic. Luna’s horn glows with her magic and she starts flapping her wings and ascends into the air, as she gets higher so does the moon. She flying up until the moon was in the center of the sky for all to see, and then she slowly glides back down to the ground. She then lit the stars starting with her favorite the south star. The south star was her favorite because it shinned as bright as the north but never got noticed. “What a beautiful night,” Celestia said to her sister. “I’m sure everypony will be getting a good night’s rest tonight.” “Of they will there sleeping thought my night,” Luna said in a sarcastic tone. “What’s wrong my sister?” Celestia asked looking at her little sister in concern. “Nothing,” Luna replied. “Luna don’t lie to me I know something is wrong. What is it?” “Nothing,” Luna said again. “I’m fine honestly if there was something wrong you’d be the first to know Tia,” she said re assuring her sister by using her childhood nickname. “Alright then I’m going to bed then I’ll be up at the usual time to raise the sun. Goodnight sister.” Celestia then flew from her sister tower down to her own and went into her bed chamber. “Goodnight sister I’ll be here when u wake up,” she said as her sister left. Even thou she told her sister everything was fine Luna did have a problem a problem she had for years but kept denying it. Over the years Luna was becoming very hateful and started resenting her sister and the day at times she would often try to think of a way to end the day and make it night forever. She hated that the ponies all the ponies of the land played and relished in her sister’s day but shunned and slept during her beautiful nights; she often felt like the southern star shinning just as bright but not getting recognize. Luna pushed these thoughts out of her mind hoping that one day everything will great like before. It was another night in Equestria and Luna was out on her balcony over watching the night, she had schedule a star fall tonight hoping to get the ponies to praise her for her night. She then started shooting stars across the sky like a Pegasus flies through the air. The sight was most majestic and many ponies came out to see and for a time she was genuinely happy to see the ponies enjoying her night. About a half hour passed and she let the last star fall from sky for the night, she had hoped that the ponies would stay up with a bit longer after the show but within the hour they had all returned home and were in bed. Luna who was moments ago as happy as can be was now lonelier than ever. She set her head on the balcony railing looking out across the land, the thoughts of hatred and resentment slowly crept into her mind like the nights before till it was the only thing that was on her mind. Luna hated these thoughts and tried to block them out but a secret part of her liked them, they gave her the idea that she was the most powerful being and that if she wanted to make it night forever she could. Luna shook the thoughts out of her mind when she realized it was dawn and that she had to lower the moon. She looked over balcony to see her sister ready to raise the sun; she then grabs the moon and lowers it behind the round top mountains laying it to rest. Luna sighed as she watched the sun rise removing her night. “One day I’ll be praised for my night, one day everpony would rather have my night then the day, one day,” She said to herself. A few weeks went by and it is now fall and the nights are getting longer with each day passes. Luna is in her room at her desk looking at the weekly reporting’s of the kingdom; she fairly enjoyed this task because it made her felt needed. Suddenly she heard something, something that seemed to be carried on the fall breeze but she was inside and there was no breeze. Luna. the princess jumped up. “What is anyone there?” she looked around her roomed but didn’t see anypony. Luna she heard it again “Black Wall, Night Wind is that you?” she called out to her two royal guard standing right outside her door. “Princess what is it!?” said Black Wall rushing in the room, he was a large black stallion in dark purple armor. “Black Wall did you hear anypony call my name?” Luna asked “No your highness I didn’t hear anypony call your name,” the soldier replied. Luna “There it is again,” Luna said “What princess?” “A voice, a voice calling my name,” she said “I don’t hear anything princess,” Black Wall said with a concerned look. “It’s probably nothing, just the wind playing tricks on me again.” “Very well princess, do you require anything else?” The guard asked. “No I’m fine thank you, you may return to your post.” The guard then proceeded out the door and returned to his position next to Night Wind. Luna went out on to her balcony and let out a large sigh “Oh what I would give for someone to be calling for me or needing me.” Luna rested her head on the railing and looked out across the kingdom; there wasn’t a single sound only the faint distant creeks of the crickets. She felt completely alone; tears started forming at her eyes. “Nopony cares about me.” Then the thoughts of hatred, resentment, and bitterness seeped in to her mind. She didn’t mind them tonight and let them enter and grow in her mind. Dawn came and Luna went off to bed as soon as she lowered the moon. She laid in her bed hoping for some peaceful dreams to remove the nights sadness and dark thoughts that she let swell in her mind over the night. As she slept the thoughts slowly grew consuming the very back of her mind. As this happened Luna was experiencing nightmares terrible nightmares that revealed her taking control making it forever night and becoming the sole ruler of Equestria. Luna woke up in a sweat and breathing heavily. “Luna are you alright?” Celestia said from the balcony. “I’m fine sister, just give me a moment.” Luna sat up in her bed thinking over the nightmare which images were still fresh in her mind. Trying to collect herself from the intense experience she stumbled out of her bed and fell on the floor. “Luna are you ok?” Celestia stepped inside her room to check on her sister. Luna scrambled to her feet to show that everything was fine. “Yes sister I’m ok, just fell out of bed that’s all,” Luna said with a fake smile. “Are you sure looks like something’s bothering you?” seeing straight though her sisters face. “Nothing, nothing is bothering me.” Luna said in a sped up voice. “Luna please I can tell when you’re lying. Now come tell me what’s wrong.” “I had a really bad nightmare.” She said in a surrendering tone. “About what?” Luna let out a heavy sigh and walked out on to the balcony. “I turn against you and don’t lower the moon. I make it eternal night and cause much despair just for my own pleasure.” “Sister that’s terrible!” “That’s not even the worse part. The worst part is that I enjoyed it and wished it was true.” Luna hung her head in shame. “Sister it was just a dream sometimes they can make us desire things that we don’t really want. I’m sure you would never want to really do such things.” Celestia said in a reassuring voice. “But the emotions felt so real, and when I think back on it part of me wishes that it was true.” Luna said in a slightly scarred tone. “I’m sure these feelings will come to past it was after all just a dream. Now it’s been a long day for me so can you please raise the moon so I may get some rest.” “Very well sister,” Luna looked to the east where the moon laid and grabbed it with her magic it to the sky making the land night. Celestia then got up and left the room but before leaving she said “Don’t worry sister I’m sure everything will be back to normal in time.” She closed the door leaving Luna to her night. Luna didn’t say anything in return she just stood on her balcony lighting the stars always starting with her favorite the southern star. Once all the stars were lit she looked down on the land and watched as the houses lights went dark and the ponies went to bed. A few hours passed and Luna decided to look over some spell books hoping to find something to end her loneliness, but to her disappointment she couldn’t find anything. She slammed her head down on the book in frustration and yelled “Is there anything that can end my sorrows?!” Then from nowhere a voice spoke “There, there my dear Luna.” Luna jumped at the sudden voice. “Who goes there?!” she yelled “No one goes against you.” “Then who are you?” Luna questioned “I’m your friend” “If you’re my friend then why can’t I see you?” she asked “That’s because I am you.” “What?!” she said surprised “Yes my dear Luna I am part of you and I’ve formed to help you in your time of darkness.” “But how if you are part of me how can u help me?” “Luna just because we are one and the same does not mean I can’t consul you in your time of need.” “I don’t even think you, well myself can help. I am alone stuck with my night, the night everypony hates and could care less for if it were gone.” she said in a sad tone. “Luna go to your balcony.” “Why?” Luna asked “Just go out there.” Luna got up and walked on to her balcony. “What do you see?” “I see a land of ponies who think my night is evil and wished not to see and just have it day forever.” “Is that what you see my friend?” “Yes.” Luna said in a heavy voice. “Well I see a most beautiful night just like the ones before.” “Really.” Luna raised her head a bit. “Yes my dear Luna and if the ponies of this land are to blind to see it then let them miss it for this beauty should only be reserved for the ponies the likes of you.” Luna smiled as she looked out at her night. “Your right my friend it is beautiful then any time of day and if they wish to miss such a beauty then let them. For they will never know true beauty like my night with the day” Luna said proudly. “Yes Luna they will never know.” “Thank you my new friend.” Luna said smiling “Please call me Moon.” Months past and it is now near the end of December and Luna is feeling better than ever with her new friend Moon helping her through these long winter nights. She has kept her friend a secret from her sister in the fears that Celestia would see Moon as a threat to her sister and removes Moon from her mind, and that was the last thing she wanted. Luna has grown quiet close with her friend even thou they are the same alicorn the idea that she has a friend each night has helped push her to make even more beautiful nights, and also makes her more excited for the long winter nights. There was something bothering her thou and that was all her angry, resentment and bitterness seemed to have vanished; also when she slept she was no longer having nice dreams all she saw was a pair of eyes with a menacing laugh that seemed to echo in her mind for days on end. Luna speculated that it might be her friend Moon but she casted that thought off; she didn’t want to think her only friend was evil. That night Luna carried on with the night as usual; raising the moon and then lighting the sky with stars always starting with the southern star. She waited till her sister was fast asleep before talking with Moon. “Another beautiful night my dear Luna” “Thank you my friend it is another great night.” Luna said in a tiresome tone. “What’s wrong Luna?” “Nothing, it’s just even thou your complements help greatly as well as your presence and the night has never been so grand; I am still saddened by the darkened land and the ponies that still ignore my night. Like the southern star which has been the brightest in the sky but still all the praise goes to the northern.” “Well then I think it is time that we forced them to see your beauty, and then when they see it they will praise the night and ignore the day.” “How do you propose we do that?” Luna asked. “We don’t lower the moon at dawn. We keep it night and when the ponies awake they will awake to a beauty more grand then any sunrise.” “But that would break the harmony of day and night, and my sister will not stand for such a disruption to the harmony of our land. Besides she is the older one she is more powerful than me, she would surely lower the moon herself if I left it in the sky.” Luna said in a concerned voice. “Well then we’ll just have to become more powerful than her.” “Again how do we do that?” Luna asked. “The Canterlot secret archive under the library.” “Why there?” Luna questioned. “You know as well as I do my dear Luna. That it’s the largest collection of secret spells and magic on this earth that there’s a for sure a spell that fits our needs.” “But it’s forbidden to go there,” Luna said “Luna who are you some magic weak earth pony or are you the princess of the night and sharer of the thrown of equestrian, if Celestia can go there then you have every right yourself to go there as well.” “Your right Moon it’s time for me to take action I’m done feeling sorry for myself; it’s time I showed everypony who I really am.” Luna took to the sky and flew high above the mountains to where she could see the whole of the land and she looked down and said in a calm voice. “The day has had its time now it is time for the night.” And all the while Moon was smiling deep in the back of Luna’s mind. The next night Luna waited until it was late at night when all the ponies of the land were in a deep slumber. Luna then left her room; Black Wall and Night Wind jumped from the sudden appearance of their princess. “Princess what do you need?” Night Wind said the second he straightened up from his little jump. “Nothing, I am going to the library to do some reading, I shall not require you to accompany me.” “Very well princess,” The guards said in unison after giving her a quick bow. Luna made her to the library which was located at the bottom of Canterlot next to the throne room. She continued into the Library coming upon the main room that was filled with shelves that seemed to go forever. She then made her way to the back of the room where there was a large door protected by two royal guards. “Who goes there!” one of the guards said. “It is me your princess of the night.” “Luna!” The guards bowed to her then asked. “Can we help you with anything princess?” “Yes I need to get into the secret archive, so if you would please stand aside and let me through.” “No can do princess nopony other than Celesstia may enter the archive, her order’s” “Celestia’s orders,” Luna said to herself. “She doesn’t even think of me as her equal, well that will change.” Luna turned to the guards her eyes pure white as a swirling wind filled the library. “Now listen hear soldier I am the ruler of the night and share of the thrown now I demand you step aside or I shall remove you and find new guards who will do as there princess commands!” Luna was yelling in deep voice that echoed throughout the library. The guards were still standing strong but they had immense fear in their eyes. “Yes princess forgive us princess let us get the door for you.” Luna returned to normal as the guards opened the large door which was the entrance to a large stair case that seemed to plunge down into the very core of the world. “Thank you sirs and I would think it best that my sister not know about this or is that too difficult of a task for you?” “No princess,” said the guards “Good,” Luna said with a bit of triumph in her voice; she then entered the stair case which a lit with torches as she stepped inside. She started heading down the stairs which seemed to go on forever. She finally reached to the bottom where she came upon another door this one being much larger than the one before. Two statues were guarding it one of Celestia and the other being Luna, and instead of guards protecting the door there was a most powerful spell that only royal blood could break. “Well it’s a good thing I ‘m of royal blood or this would be kind of hard to pass,” Luna joked to herself. She then proceeded to insert her horn in a hole that was in the center of the door, she then used her magic like a key dispelling the spell and unlocking the large locks that held the door together. Once everything was done the door slowly opened revealing a large room full of shelves with tons of ancient books and scrolls that Luna never knew about. There were also many mystical objects spread throughout the room. The whole place was just excreting with magical energy; everything seemed to be putting out its own power. Luna slowly walked in overwhelmed with the amount of power that was within. “Why did Celestia never bring me down here before,” Luna said. “Probably because she didn’t think you could handle it, that you were too young to know such power existed.” “Many of these objects were used by villains who tried to overthrow my sister and me; I’ve always wondered what happened to their weapons but now I see she’s been hiding them.” Luna looked away trying to contain her anger but was unable to. “Who does she think she is our mother still treating me like a filly? Dammit I’m a full grown alicorn I’ve lived hundreds of years I’m not a kid!” Luna yelled out. Luna Then began to tear through the scrolls and books looking for something that could that would give her the magic power to overpower her sister. She went through dozens of scrolls and books and found many useful spells such as a duplication spell as well as a transfiguration spell that can be used on one self but no way to get more power. “How can this be out of all these ancient scrolls and books not one leads to more power or anything. I guess I am stuck with my horrible night forever.” She then started heading for the door when something caught her eye. It was a gate in the corner of the room out of the way and hidden in the shadows. Luna walked over to it and looked inside. It was a set of armor sitting in on a pedestal shining in the moonlight. She opened the gate and got a closer look, on the pedestal it read “The Lunar armor” “The armor of night” “To put on this armor will grant the wearer all the power of the moon and stars” It was a simple set of armor only consisting of four hoof guards, a chest plate that had a crescent moon on it, and a helmet. “This is it Moon the device that will give me the power to keep it night for as long as I desire.” Her friend didn’t answer Moon was in the very back of Luna’s mind smiling as the events unfolded. Luna the started to put the armor on first putting on the hoof guards and then the chest plate; she could already feel the power of the armor building in her. She then put the helmet on and the second she let go she felt a surge of power rush through her and then she felt herself being pulled back into the very recesses of her mind; there she came across a shadowy figure surrounded by a black cloud. “Who are you?” Luna asked. “My dear Luna we’ve already been through this, you know who I am.” “Moon?” Luna said in a shuttering voice. “Yes it is my dear Luna” “Why are you so shadowy and what is the black cloud around you?” Luna asked. “Because Luna I am made up of all your hatred, your angry and bitterness.” “So that’s why I haven’t felt those feelings for the past months they’ve formed into you.” “Yes Luna and the black cloud which I am holding back is all the power of the lunar armor.” “Why are you holding it back give it to me so I can have the ability to make it night for as long as we desire,” Luna said “I cannot my dear for this armor only gives its power to ones with only Rage and bitterness in their hearts. If the power fills a heart that still has love and care in it the power will withdraw and the armor will be useless to us, and you my dear still has much care and love in your heart.” “So what do I do?” asked Luna. “You must let go of the things you care and love the most.” Luna didn’t answer she just stood there in her mind in deep thought. “Luna please think of all your hardships, think of all the times you were alone all those nights wishing on your own stars for somepony would care.” Luna still didn’t answer she had no expression on her face, no movement in her body other than her slow breathing, it seemed she was frozen from thought. “Luna this is your last chance let go claim your power and become the ruler Equestria deserves.” “Very well” Luna said in a soft almost whisper voice that seemed to have a taste of regret with the words that she had spoken. Luna let go of her love for her sister and kingdom, as well as the care she had for others. Moon rushed into the broken heart feeling it with hatred, rage, bitterness, and power. Luna came back to reality fully embracing her new dark powers and her heart which had turned to stone for all that was left was wickedness and evil. Her whole bad cringed as surge after surge of power went through her body. Then her whole body was in pain for it began to grow to size of Celestia, her coat which was dark blue turned to pitch black and her main which was a flowing sea of stars had turned into a shapeless cloud of night. Once the transformation was finished she gave a menacing laugh and said. “Ah with this new power I will be able to make the night last forever.” The room then filled with her laughter. As she marveled at her new power the southern star started to dim to the point to where it was just a flickering in the sky. Celestia had just gotten up and headed out on to her balcony she was puzzled to see that Luna had not lowered the moon yet, its seven o’clock in the morning and it’s time for the dawn. She just figured that Luna had forgotten the time and would lower it when she sees me raising the sun. Celestia then started to raise the sun with her magic but something was wrong Luna still hadn’t lower the moon and the sun wouldn’t come up any further with the moon still in the sky. “Hm what is she doing? I’d better go check on her,” Celestia said. She flew up to her sister balcony which was a few stories higher than hers. “Luna, Luna are you here sister?” She stepped inside and looked around the room but didn’t see Luna anywhere; she stepped back outside. “Where is she?” All of a sudden a violent wind started to swirl though the air then dark storm closed to fill the skies, lightning flashed and thunder roared shaking the entire tower Celestia was on. “What darkness is this?” Celestia yelled out. The clouds then formed a funnel only which only revealed the moon. A bright light then shot out of the moon with such insensity that Celestia had to look away. “Darkness is that how you see my night as darkness.” The light then faded revealing the reformed princess of the night. Celestia looked at the black alicorn in the air and yelled out. “Who are you?” “What do you not even recognize the ruler of the night the one who shares the same thrown as you?” “Luna?” Celestia said in a questioning voice. “Not anymore. I am Nightmare Moon” “Nightmare Moon? What happened to Luna?” Celestia asked. “What that weak and powerless alicorn I got rid of her for if ponies would not love or care for her then maybe they’ll fear and respect me. No longer will the ponies be able ignore my night for it shall be night FOREVER hahahahahahaha!” “Luna you cannot keep it night forever.” “Why, why can’t I, do you fear that when the ponies see my night that they would prefer it over your day. Are you that desperate for all the attention?” Nightmare said mockingly. “No, Luna not at all, you can’t keep it night because it breaks the harmony, harmony that must be maintained.” “Maintained, I’m done maintaining the harmony it’s brought me nothing but pain, but now I have the power to make my own harmony a harmony of night.” “Sister this is madness!” Celestia cried out. “Really Tia this is madness, no madness is doing the same thing every day making yourself believe that everyone cares and loves what you’re doing and knowing that they could truly care less.” “Sister they do you care, they love your night.” “Really sister tell me how many of our subjects come and visit you, how send you letters and look to you when they have a problem?” Nightmare asked. “Sister” “Exactly you can’t even tell me. I never got any of that I got no recognition, the only recognition I receive is the blame for the little filly’s having nightmares.” “Luna please listen to reason,” Celestia asked. “ENOUGH! I am no longer Luna and I am far beyond reason, I am done waiting for change it’s time for equestria to know its true ruler.” Nightmare said in anger. Her mane started to swirl and fill the sky above her, then suddenly a bolt of lightning shot at Celestia. Celestia took to the air narrowly dodging the oncoming bolt, the bolt struck the balcony destroying it and sending the pieces flying. “Luna please we can make changes.” “It’s too late for change, I needed change years ago but you never noticed, you never noticed any of my any of my suffering and now you will pay for your ignorance.” Nightmare then shot more lightning bolts at Celestia, who carefully dodged them. “Luna please stop this nightmare and be my sister again so harmony can be restored.” Celestia said in a last attempt to get her sister back. “No I’m done with harmony, I’m done with our subjects, and I am most certainly done with you.” “Then so be it Nightmare Moon.” Nightmare then charged her magic and sent forth a plethora of lightning bolts at Celestia, but before they hit; Celestia was surrounded by an orb of fire blocking the strikes and then vanished with Celestia along with it. “What? Where did she go? Oh well she’s only prolonged the inevitable for now the night will last FOREVER hahahahahahaha!” It is now supposed to be midday in Equestria but it is still as dark as midnight. The ponies of the land are all awake each one leaving their houses in confusion as to why it is still night. Fearing that a new villain has come to Equestria to take over the land, they rush to Celestia to find out what is wrong. They run into the throne room hopping to see there princess only to find Nightmare Moon sitting proudly on the throne. “Ah welcome my subjects.” Nightmare said. The ponies stopped in their tracks out of sheer shock to see the black alicorn on the throne and not princess Celestia. “Who are you and where is the princess?” One of the ponies demanded. “I am the princess you fool. Is my crown not as royal as my sister’s?” Nightmare Moon replied. “What? You’re not princess Luna,” The pony said back. “Not anymore Luna is gone replaced by me Nightmare Moon your true ruler of Equestria. Hahaha no bow before you’re new ruler.” The ponies resisted still standing tall in defiance to her. “I SAID BOOOW!” Nightmare yelled with strikes of lightning hitting the ground before the standing ponies. Overcome with fear the ponies bowed to their new ruler. Nightmare laughs in victory as she is now has control of the entire kingdom. Meanwhile Celestia reappeared in an old abandoned castle one that even Luna did not know about. The Castle was located in the Everfree forest, the forest all ponies feared to enter. She made her way through the dark hallways and crumbling stair ways. She then came to the castles main vault which was covered in plant life. Celestia removed the vines and plant life which showed a large the large door similar to the one protecting the Canterlot’s archive but this one had an image of six stones with a title above them. “The elements of harmony” Each of the stones also had a title above them. “Generosity, honesty, laughter, kindness, loyalty, and magic” “The elements of harmony the most powerful magic known to pony kind,” Celestia said to herself. “Only these have the power to defeat my sister.” She then put her horn in the lock and filled it with her magic. The door lit up with the magic and then slowly opened revealing a small room with five pedestals inside. On the pedestals were five of the six elements with the sixth one missing the element of magic. Celestia stepped into the center of the room and started to flow her magic into each the elements. The stones then levitated above her and started shining and changed into a crystal, each one then transformed into a piece of armor. Four of them turned into hoof guards and the other turned into a chest plate. Then a bright light filled the entire room revealing the sixth element which formed into a helmet. Celestia put on each of the pieces of armor then left the room flying off to defeat her sister and restore the harmony. At Canterlot Nightmare was sitting on her throne marveling at her achievement. “Ah a kingdom of night with me as its ruler nothing is more perfect.” She said to herself. “Unfortunately that rule must come to an end.” A fire ball out of nowhere hits Nightmare throwing her out of the window. Nightmare catches herself and looks up at the ball flaming ball that hit her; the flame then diminished revealing Celestia. “Ah so you returned I knew you would and I see came prepared with your own personal armor; you know that can’t protect you against my power,” Nightmare said in a mocking voice. “Not just any armor, THE ELEMENTS OF HARMONY!” Celestia said now in a very stern battle ready stance. “WHAT ? You told me that those were lost that they were gone forever,” Nightmare said in a slightly panicking voice. “Forgive me sister for I lied. I had them hidden in a place that only I knew where.” “I knew it you’ve been lying to me along!” “Please Luna I hid them for your safety.” Celestia said “My safety how old do you think I am two. No you hid them for yourself so that if anything went wrong you would be the one in control, the one with the power. Well I have my own power now and I won’t let you take it away!” Nightmare then attacked her sister with several lightning strikes. The elements shielded Celestia, blocking the oncoming blows. “Luna this is your last chance, stop what you are doing lower the moon and throw down that armor and stand at my side as both sister and ruler of Equestria,” Celestia said in one last desperate attempt to get her sister back. “NO! Never I will not go back to my old position and be ignored again. No I am the ruler of this land me and no other.” Nightmare then filled the sky with her starry mane showing all her power and then all at once struck down on her sister; but again the attack failed for the shield around her sister was impenetrable. “Very well since you have convinced me that Luna is forever lost then I have no choice.” The elements began to glow, and shine like a star nearly making it as bright as day. “NIGHTMARE MOON! For your crimes of treason and the disruption of the delicate harmony of day and night; I hereby pass punishment for you to be banished to the moon….forever. You shall never again return to these lands or ever make it night again so long as you are this way.” Tears began to run down Celestia’s face as she then put all her magic into the elements. “Forgive me sister,” she whispered. The elements then shinned brighter than anything else, Celestia’s eyes then turned pure white as a rainbow shot from the elements and swirled around Nightmare Moon. She then put one more surge of magic into the elements causing the rainbow to shoot up straight to the moon. Rainbow hit the moon causing a large flash of light almost as if the moon had exploded, when the light died down there was a dark silhouette of Nightmare Moon engraved on the moon. As Luna was banished so did the southern star; falling from the sky like tear from a face. Celestia let go of her magic powering down the elements and returning to her normal look. She then flew straight to her bed chamber; she wanted out of the armor that she used to banish her sister. She went into her room and took the elements off and sat them down together, she then turned them back into stones and sent them back to the castle. Except instead of putting them back into the vault she put them in the main hallway where they could be seen as the objects that sent her sister away. Celestia then went and stood at her window and looked up at the moon; she had no emotion on her face save a steady stream of tears falling to the ground. “How could I have let this happen, how could I have been so blind, how did I lose my sister?” these questions went through her mind over and over again. The night went on it’s now supposed to be the next day and Celestia still had not moved from her spot by the window, there was a dry puddle of tears beneath her, and her eyes were red from all tears that were shed. Knowing that she must make it day again to restore the harmony, she left her spot and walked across her room passing portraits of her and Luna as fillies and all the time they spent together; more tears ell from her eyes but yet she still showed no emotion. She head out onto the balcony and looked up at the moon with the silhouette once more, she then reached out to grab it with her magic. She had a hard time with the moon, the last time she had lowered the moon was when Luna was still a filly. More tears run from her eyes as flashbacks of Luna’s first time raising and lowering the moon on her own entered her mind; oh how proud she was of her and how overcome with joy Luna was during those times. She finally got a hold of the small moon and lowered it bringing it down to rest behind the mountains; she then removed the stars from the sky clearing room for the sun. She then grabbed the sun which is much larger than the moon and easier for her to grasp and slowly raised it into the sky making the land day. The ponies cheered as everything was brought back to older. Celestia then went and laid in her bed; she was tired and even thou she normally would stay up for the day, she needed some rest. It then became evening, Celestia got up to raise the moon for the first time. Raising has always been harder than lowering mostly because you’re reaching for something you cannot see and have to hold on to it as it rises. Celestia first lowered the sun to make room for the night; she then reached out with her magic and grabbed the moon; like when she lowered the moon she also had a hard time raising it. Due to its size it seemed to slip out of her magic but at last she finally brought it up. As it came above the mountains more tears fell as Celestia watched as the moon and silhouette on it rose to its place in the sky. She bowed her head and whispered “forgive me sister.” She reentered her room and laid on her bed going back into thought. The next day after Celestia had lowered the moon and raised the sun she called a public meeting to inform her kingdom of the past events. All the major ponies of the kingdoms of the cities came and gathered in the throne room. Celestia sat alone on the throne, she was fairly nervous Luna had always been joined her for public meetings and without her there she felt lonely. Once everypony had gathered she stood up and addressed the crowd. “Thank you everypony for being here today. As you all know three days ago the land was kept night and the sun did not rise for two days. I brought you here to tell you what happened and why it was kept night. The princess of the night Luna had fallen into despair. She felt that nopony cared for either her or her night, so she became depressed and unfortunately that depression consumed her till she was no more. Luna was lost to the villain Nightmare Moon; the being who broke the harmony of night and day by leaving the moon in the sky. As the protector of the harmony for this land I stood up to her. I did what I could to try and save my sister with reason but it was clear that Luna was gone and only the creature of darkness remained. So I used the elements of harmony and banished her to the moon for eternity.” The ponies in the room talked amongst themselves not sure on how to react to the news then one spoke out. “With Luna gone who will take over the night?” “I will,” Celestia said. “I will take sole responsibility both day and night as well as the kingdom from hence point forth. Now you may return to your towns; tell them what I have told you and that I have become Equestria’s sole princess for now and forever.” The room emptied and Celestia sat alone on the throne; she looked across the empty hall and hung her head and said “Now begins the rule of the lonely princess.” Up on the moon Nightmare had her own make shift throne where she sat looking at the world. Memories of her life and time as the princess flooded her mind but they were blocked out by her stone cold heart. “Celestia thinks she can just banish me hear for eternity then she is a bigger fool then I thought. Doesn’t she know that all my power comes from the moon and the stars? Already I can feel my power growing and one day soon I will return to Equestria and then the night will last FOREVER!” The End
