Ch1: The Invid Flower of Life (v2.0)

Author’s note:
Your obsessed dyslexic twiluna shipper has returned! And as I promised on my blog; here is a short story that will be 4 chapters long and after this one is done I’m going back to my other stories that I had (sort of) left 4 dead (cryptic metaphor!).
Don’t expect too much of this as I mostly wrote it to “warm up” my “writing skills” *cough* after I’ve been slacking way too much on my writing lately :/ but nonetheless I still hope that you’ll enjoy this short Robotech crossover of mine <3
EDIT: I’ve changed this chapter a little from my first version of it, which I didn’t like too much, so hopefully this will improve upon the story! Also, if someone would like to try being my editor for this story, then please PM me instead of writing it as a comment (it would also be preferred if you got a Skype account, no wait it’s a must have!), thanks! :)

Chapter 1 – The Invid Flower of Life:
It was a warm and beautiful summer day. The sun was near its highest peak as the lunar princess was trotting around in her private garden, admiring her newest of creations; her hexagon rose coloured Moonflowers, which were emitting a dim magical glow as they were pulsing with energy, they were waving back and forth ever so slightly, carried by the gentle breeze and Luna could hear them sing a soft tune almost like a lullaby as they basked in Celestia’s sun in the calm wind.

Then the mistress of the night suddenly heard a sound behind her. “Hello Miss Twilight, to what do I owe this honour?” Luna asked without turning around, knowing full well that the sound made was that of a teleportation spell and she had shared more than enough time with the lavender mare that she was able to tell that it was Twilight by the feeling of her mere presence.

“Well...” The newcomer started. “All of my friends were busy with something today, so I decided to come and check out on my special somepony and see what she was doing in this lovely weather.” Twilight said with a claim and sugar sweet voice.

Luna stopped admiring her Moonflowers and turned around to face Twilight. “Oh? And who may that special somepony be?” She asked Twilight with a genuine smile.

“Only the most stubborn mare in all of Equestria.” The lavender mare replied teasingly as she trotted over to Luna, making her way past Luna as she seductively brushed her tail under Luna’s chin. At the touch of Twilight’s tail, Luna closed her eyes and made a sound that could only be described as the equivalent of a felid purr, which made Twilight’s heart skip a beat. Twilight quickly looked to all sides making sure that no pony was looking at them before she finished her full circle around her secret lover and marefriend before she placed a soft kiss on Luna’s lips, cursing the poor lunar princess to melt under the touch of affection.

After a short moment Twilight redrew from the joyous occasion, a little frighten that a prolonged kiss might be spotted by somepony else who would be randomly trotting about, as she checked the vicinity once more.

“You seem a little tense. What’s the matter my sweet?” Luna asked Twilight as she was a bit saddened by the sudden lack of her lover’s warm and soft lips on her own.

“Just being cautious.” Twilight truthfully admitted.

“Oh, right. I always seem to forget about that when you’re around. Good thing you can keep focus when I lose mine in your intimacy.” Luna told Twilight as she planted a quick peck on her cheek. Twilight looked back at Luna with a deep blush that made her already dark cheeks turn an even darker shade of lavender. “Which reminds me.” Luna suddenly said as she turned around and trotted over to her new flowers plucking one of them off for her marefriend with her mouth.

As Luna returned to Twilight she saw an odd look on the other mare’s face. “I’ve never seen such a flower before.” The unicorn said more to herself than to Luna, puzzled about the strange flower Luna now held in her mouth.

Luna just gave her bedmare an awkward smile with the flower in her mouth and all, before she put her moonflower behind Twilight’s ear. “It’s my own creation.” Luna told her proudly. “I call them Moonflowers.”

“Wow, such a creative name.” Twilight teased Luna with a giggle.

“Oh hush you!” Luna told Twilight with a giggle of her own.

After their shared giggling died down Twilight looked past Luna as she noticed Luna’s creation were actually glowing rather brightly. “Why do they glow like that” The sagacious unicorn asked curiously.

“Don’t you feel it?” Her night goddess asked her.

Twilight looked a little puzzled at Luna before she closed her eyes and tried to feel the flower and there it was as bright as day, without a doubt it was pulsing with energy or to be more exact it was pulsing with magic in its rawest form. She wondered how she hadn’t noticed it before now, maybe Luna could be blamed for her lack of attention to her surroundings, not that she really minded. Twilight unconsciously gave Luna a goofy smile.

“When I first created them they refused to stay alive for more than a few minutes, so then I tried to give them but a spark of my magic and then they all sprang back to life, it was amazing! They somehow managed to take a single fraction of the magic I gave them and then they spread it to each other and in the progress they somehow purify it, and from it they have been able to grow and reproduce. They seem have created the purest essence of magic there is, without any flaw and without any taint...” Luna grew silent for a moment. “Unlike that of my own...” She then added in a sorrowful manner as her eyes began to sparkle as they watered up, threatening to turn into tears.

But before such a thing could happen Twilight pulled Luna into a tight embrace, this time without first checking their surroundings, to her Luna was of the highest importance in all of Equestria. “Don’t ever say that, you’re one of the most # pony I’ve ever meet.” She told Luna reassuring. “The past are nothing more than memories that teach us and guide us, they are not there to make you sad and belittle yourself with.” Twilight continued as she softly patted Luna’s back. “You should always look forward, don’t cling to the past and let it rule you, but don’t forget what it has thought you either.”

There was a long moment where either said anything and the only one that could be heard was the soft wind and the singing Moonflowers. “Thank you Miss Sparkle.” Luna sobbed as she nuzzled against Twilight, taking in Twilight’s scent and felt the warmth emitted from the unicorn’s body.

Twilight just smiled gently unseen by Luna. “No worries Luna, you know I’m here for you.”

“I know.” Luna said in a small sob. “And thank you.”

Twilight really wanted to tell Luna that she would be forever at her side but she couldn’t bring herself to say such a thing because she knew it would a lie, Luna would live forever and ever while she would only live for one miserably life time, which sadden the lavender unicorn greatly and it was a topic she always did her best to avoid, Twilight rather not think about a time where she would have to leave Luna due to her mortality.

Then they suddenly heard a rustling sound and they both instantly jumped away from each other breaking the lovely embrace they both so dearly cherished. They both looked around Luna’s private garden trying to spot what had made that sound, fearful of that they had been found out. Both of their eyes soon found a bush making the rustling sound and soon after a small bird popped out and started cheeping happily at which the two mares breathed a sigh of relief.

“This is quite stressful.” Luna said out loud, only having meant it as a thought.

“Sorry.” Twilight muttered looking away in shame.

The lunar princess made a frown that went unseen by Twilight, but it soon turned into that of a smile as she put her hoof under her sister’s prized student’s cheek and slowly turned her head towards herself so that she could gaze into those purple sparkling stars once more.

Twilight gulped when she found herself stirring into her lover’s turquoise eyes.

“Sweetest Twilight, don’t be silly. I’ll endure whatever hardship that we might have to face, even if this world doesn’t accept our love; I won’t stop loving you.” She told her lover sweetly. “I would spend another thousand years on the moon for you.”

Twilight glanced to the side and blushed slightly in embarrassment at Luna’s forwardness. “You say the sweetest things.” She said in a whisper while she once more thought that she wouldn’t be around forever unlike how Luna would.

“But of course I do! I’m the goddess of dreams after all!” Luna said jokingly, earning herself an eye roll from Twilight, which Luna couldn’t help giggling at. “Or at least so they say... anyway, one cannot decide one's origin of birth Twilight, and as such no pony should ever be blamed for a crime that he or she has never committed. Beside true love knows not of gender or status, right?” She then said on a little more serious note. “But let’s not talk of things of such gloom and instead enjoy this wondrous day that we now share together!” Luna told her with a more cheerful voice now, as she left the cheerless topic behind.

Taking up Luna’s offer of a more relaxing topic she quickly asked: “So how long have you been working on these?” The unicorn asked referring to Luna’s Moonflowers.

“About a month I believe, I’ve been working on them it in my spare time.” Luna answered.

“Huh? Only a month and they already bloomed?”

Luna merely nodded.

“That’s pretty unusual for a flower.” Twilight said as she began to pounder as to why they would bloom so fast, not mentioning even be able to do so.

“Well, I’m a pretty unusual pony.” Luna said with a wide grim and a wink, which made Twilight smile brightly.

Twilight just shook her head at Luna trying to be funny before a rather pointless question began to nag at her mind. “How come you didn’t make them blue or something more like your trademark colour?” She asked out of the blue for no particular reason.

Luna raised a hoof to her chin wondering for a moment. “I’m not entirely sure to be honest it just felt like this was the colour they were meant to have.” She answered after a moment of thought. “But that hardly matters now.” She told Twilight as she put her hoof back on the ground. Then suddenly a wicked grin crossed her face as an idea popped into her head. “Maybe we should go somewhere more... private?” She teased Twilight with her wry smile.

Twilight quickly caught onto what Luna probably had in mind. “Let me.” She told Luna before she teleported the both of them into the lunar princess’s royal bedchamber.

“How did you know?”

“Call it a mare’s intuition.” Twilight replied as she trotted over to the vanity table and put the Moonflower that Luna had placed behind her ear into an empty vase on the table, looking ever so lovely and still pulsing slightly with its mysterious glow. Suddenly a pair of forelegs were/was wrapped around her and she was pulled her into a loving embrace from behind, feeling Luna nuzzling her neck and mane.

Twilight closed her eyes to fully enjoy the princess’s touch and after several minutes of just standing still and enjoying each other’s presence, that is until Twilight broke the silence with a question that has been lingering on her mind for some time, even before they had confessed their love for each other in privacy and to no one else’s knowledge. “Uhm... Luna...?”

“Yes Twilight dear?”

“Can I ask you something?”

“But of course.” Luna said a little surprised. ”What could Twilight possibly need her permission for to ask about?” She thought for herself.

“Have you ever considered... having... you know...” Twilight gulped. “Having foals?” She finally managed to ask, forcing herself mentally to say the last word. Twilight couldn’t tell how Luna had reacted to her question since she stood behind her.

Luna hummed to herself as she got a distant look in her eyes. “Why are you asking my dear?” She asked Twilight with an evil smirk that went unseen by the lavender mare. “Do you want to carry my foals?” Luna then asked with a suggestive tone.

The question completely knocked out all thoughts of Twilight’s head. She really hadn’t considered that Luna would counterattack her with such a question. “I-“ Twilight began to stammer but before she could find a straight answer; Luna trip her over, now lying down on the marble floor with her back to the ground and the night goddess on top of her.

“Rawr!” Luna said playfully as she ran her left hoof gently over Twilight’s nose as if she was a predator playing with its prey before eating it.

“Rawr?” Twilight asked curiously.

“It means ‘I love you’ in dinosaur.” Luna told her with an impish smile.

“Have I ever told you that you’re a silly princess?” The lavender unicorn asked as she rolled her eyes at the alicorn’s silliness once more that day.

“You may have mentioned it a hundred times or so.” Luna told the pinned down mare with a cocky smile. “But more importantly,” The princess suddenly stated “Do you want to?”

“Well... I...” Twilight started a little unsure what to really say. “I guess that it doesn’t really matter, I mean we can’t... you know...”

“Oh, my... you don’t know?” Luna asked a little astonished that her egghead lover possible couldn’t know of such a thing.

“Know what?” Twilight asked confused.

“Alicorns are born from magic, we don’t... ehm... breed like other ponies, well we do have the necessary parts to ‘do it’, but ehm...” She said with a small blush. “But we can’t get impregnated by a stallion’s seed.” She finished off.

Twilight looked surprised. “So...” She started off slowly. “All that is needed is magic?”

“Yup!” Luna said with a joyous yelp, suddenly losing her restrained tone. “We could make some small Twilights right now if you liked to!” She told the mare below her with a hint of sarcasm before she lower her head brushing over the unicorn’s lips, much to Twilight’s irritation as she moved past her lips without kissing her, trailing over her cheek and down to her ear biting it ever so softly, making Twilight moan in bliss.

“Mmm...” Was all that managed to escape Twilight’s lips, she was honestly a little annoyed, Luna hadn’t really answered her question whether or not if she had ever considered having foals, but for some obvious reason she now found herself unable to say or do anything about it as Luna had taken complete control of the situation and were exploring her sensitive flesh.

Luna parted from caressing Twilight’s soft spot before she returned to her lips she had neglected for a moment and gave her a soft kiss. “Why don’t we continue this in my bed?” She asked the one and only soul in all of Equestria that she had ever truly loved on a much deeper level than she ever had with her sister. “Or would you prefer ‘doing it’ on the floor?” She asked with a wicked grin.

“B-bed sounds fine.” Was all Twilight managed to stammer before Luna got off her and offered her a hoof, which Twilight a little hesitantly reached out for.

Unpleasant thoughts often invaded Twilight’s minds when she got private with Luna like this, the unicorn knew that she was just being selfish and spoiled but it still saddened her and hurt her heart a bit every time, because Luna was the only pony she had ever given herself to like this, sure she had also given herself Celestia but not like this, here not only her hear was in question but also her very soul.

In her heart Twilight was much like Rarity and probably so many else; a hopeless and lost romantic soul that dreamed about perfect and flawless love, but unlike others Twilight knew nothing more about love than what she had read in those over the top romance stories, of course Twilight knew that fantasy and reality quite wasn’t the same thing and yet she couldn’t help herself, she had always imagined that her soulmate whoever it might be, would be her first and her last and that the two of them would have to explore the boundless possibilities of true love together.

Ever since Twilight had given Luna her heart a few months ago, she had secretly hoped that she would be Luna’s first and only love but she already knew that such a thing would be impossible, Twilight was mortal and could never be with Luna for as long as she wished and considering how much older the princess really was than her? It seemed unimaginable that Twilight was her first, but Twilight never dared to ask Luna because it would shatter her little fantasy world if it turned out that Luna have had many lovers before her and that Twilight was just ‘the next one’ on an endless list of lovers.

Twilight sighed, forgetting where she was for a short moment before someone or rather somepony grabbed onto her extended hoof and thus reminding her that she had been lost in her own thoughts and a moment later Luna pulled the unicorn onto her legs and when Twilight once more stood on all four she were meet with a pair of gentle and caring eyes.

“Hey there.” Luna greeted her with a soft voice and a kind smile. “You know what I said back there...” Luna paused. “I really meant it...” She paused once more. “For you I would endure another thousand years in exile.” She finally finished as she gave Twilight a reinsuring squeeze with her hoof still holding onto Twilight’s hoof. “But I would much rather spend them here with you than by myself on the moon.” Luna added with a soft smile.

“Though I won’t be around for that long...” Twilight thought solemnly before Luna guided the unicorn mare over to her resting place, never letting go for her hoof, where she pushed Twilight into the huge bed’s soft fabric before she slowly learned in over her and kissed Twilight softly and lovingly as Celestia’s most faithful student slowly pulled Luna into the bed with her, not breaking the kiss once and still holding each other’s hoof and with that all further thoughts of gloom vanished from the unicorn’s mind as passion took hold and guided their actions.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

It had been a dreamless sleep from which Luna suddenly awoke and yet cold sweat was running down her coat and she was panting heavily for breath as if she had just risen from a terrible nightmare. A chill ran down her spine, something dreadful was coming she could feel it in every fiber of her body but she had no idea what it could be but it felt so far off and yet it felt so incredible powerful and it had a murderous intent unlike any other that Luna had ever felt before in her life.

The alicorn quickly turned to her side and looked at her sleeping beauty slumbering peacefully, Luna let out a sign of relief at least Twilight was safe and sound, and she would make sure it would stay that way.

“Hey, Twilight.” Luna whispered as if she feared that whatever emanated that ominous feeling in the depths of her mind could somehow hear her.

“Five more minutes, please?” Twilight retorted still asleep, at any other time Luna would have thought of it as the most adorable thing in all of Equestria but the princess couldn’t let go of that terrible feeling.

“Maybe it was just better to let her sleep?” The lunar princess thought momentarily before making up her mind.

“I’m sorry Twilight but something has come up that I require my attention.” She told the little lavender unicorn before she placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “I’ll be back soon so no need to worry.” She added to the best of her abilities to sound reassuring even though she knew that it was most likely a lie. And with that the mistress of the night got out of her bed and gave Twilight one last look over her shoulder before she teleported herself to the throne room where she could feel her sister’s presence, slightly disturbed.

As soon as she entered the majestic room through her magic she quickly scanned the vicinity for the solar princess and saw the alabaster alicorn standing out on the throne room’s huge balcony, looking upwards at the shimmering sky. Luna quickly ran to her side, joining her sister on the platform.

As Luna came to a hold at her sister’s side she looked up at Celestia and was faced with a very thoughtful expression, clearly her sister’s thoughts being elsewhere as her gaze was transfixed on the sky.

The nightblue princess wanted to ask her sister if she had any idea of what could possible emanate such dread but when she had seen her sister’s expression she became doubtful, did Celestia wore that expression because she knew what terrible fate was awaiting them or was out of fear for the unknown, the unforeseen? Which was something that went against Celestia’s ‘all knowing’ way of life, at another time she would surely have mocked and teased her sister about it but Luna held her tongue and joined her sister’s gaze at the sky, still feeling the nefarious force closing in on Equestria.

After a few minutes of silence Celestia finally spoke up. “In my entire life I’ve never felt anything as powerful as this. It's actually quite astounding.” She said with a voice between admiration and intimidation.

“And it’s getting closer…” Luna added fearfully.

“That it is, whatever ‘that’ is.” Celestia simply said while still looking concerned towards the now evening sky. “And it’s almost upon us.”

“Do you know what it is?” Luna finally managed to ask her sister.

“Sorry.” Celestia honestly replied. “This is as much of a mystery to me as it is to you.” Celestia turned her head towards her little sister. “But one thing is for sure, it has come here for a reason and it is most likely hostile.”

Luna merely nodded, she too had felt that whatever was coming it was coming with a purpose, a purpose that was unclear to the two celestial sisters but nonetheless it was coming and nothing could change that not even the combined divine powers of the princesses could ever hope to stop such a force.

I hope this improved version was more to everyone’s taste :) but it still needs an editor though.
