Martin: The Endgame

Chapter 11: Black Knight

Martin stared at Alan for a good few minutes before he started laughing, “Okay that’s a good one!”

Alan had a complete straight face which caused Martin to cease his laughter, “wait…your serious?”

Alan answered very grimly, “Yes, I am.”

Twilight came to Martin’s side, “Martin, that can’t be Alan. It’s probably an imposter.”

Alan raised his fist as it crackled with electricity, “I assure you I am no imposter.”

Rainbow was greatly confused as she floated over to Alan, “Ooookay, I don’t get the whole new wardrobe and speech pattern. But I am just happy that you’re alright.”

Alan looked at the cyan colored Pegasus then looked back at Martin, “Whatever.”

Everypony gasped as Rainbow’s left eye twitched, “EXCUSE me?”

Alan looked straight at Rainbow Dash, “Do I need to spell it out for you? Although I would not be surprised if I had to since you are by far the densest out of everypony.”

Pinkie inhaled, “Oooh he should not have said that.”

Rainbow got right in Alan’s face, “Listen here you jerk! I have been worrying myself silly which I don’t do too often, about your sorry butt! If you have something to say-“

Alan grabbed Dash’s hind hoof and soon she was engulfed in electricity. After a few seconds, Alan let her go and booted her into Martin like a football.

Everypony regarded Alan with fear and anger as Twilight examined Rainbow Dash, “She’ll be fine, she’s just stunned.”

Martin walked past the group and approached Alan, “What the HELL was that!”

Alan dusted off his front, “She was being a pest, so I shut her up.”

Martin was flustered, “But…she’s your girlfriend.”

Alan waved the comment off, “Why settle for the rest when I can get the best.”

Martin was about to respond when a thought entered his mind, “What did they do to you?”

Alan smiled as he sauntered toward Martin, “They showed me a lot of things and told me what I needed to hear.”

Alan stopped right in front of him, “My eyes were opened, and I was reborn. A new man so to speak.”

Martin stared at his friends eyes which were completely different from what they usually were. Gone was the glint of light and comedy that existed within them, now all that was there darkness.

Martin was hurt when he spoke to Alan, “Why…”

Alan pushed Martin back with each word, “Why? WHY?!”

Martin got to his feet as Alan pointed straight at him, “I hate the fact that you have gotten to live la vida loca while I barely get any recognition. You aren’t even a brony and you have been living the dream life that I have only dreamed of.”

Martin was now annoyed, “Listen to yourself, this isn’t even you talking. Jinx, Discord, and Chrysalis have twisted your mind so that now…you’re not even you anymore.”

Alan’s fist crackled with electricity, “Don’t you DARE lecture me! Did it ever occur to you that maybe I am tired of living in your shadow and want a little time in the lime light? Does it matter to you in the slightest that MAYBE I might be tired of bailing your ass out of every single situation that you got in? Well…DOES IT?!”

Martin’s eyes widened in shock at the words Alan spoke and they faltered in sadness at the fact he had failed in the one thing he wished not to fail in…saving his friend.

Alan took notice of this and sneered, “Did I hit a nerve? Or is it maybe that you finally realized that you are no hero, hell you couldn’t even save ponies without calling on me for help. That is just sad.”

Rarity had enough, “HOW DARE YOU! Don’t you dare bring the lives of those ponies into this! If I wasn’t-“

Martin raised his hand, “He’s right, I didn’t save them. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t save you Alan.”

Alan laughed at the sky, “Oh please! You think your freaking superman because you can fly and not get hurt or is it maybe because you like the fact that you can fight evil on this plain because in reality you’re sick of Earth and everyone on it because they don’t give you a purpose in your life. Sure there will be some collateral damage every now and then when you come to the rescue, but there will always be happy citizens waiting to praise your efforts. Face it Martin! Your ideals are about as redundant as the air you breathe.”

Everypony was shocked at Alan’s speech. Martin however began to circle Alan who mirrored his movements. Both humans locked eyes with each other as the intensity in the air thickened; storm clouds began to churn in the distance and started to cover the sky.

Martin shook his head, “Don’t do this Alan. I don’t want to hurt you.”

Alan scoffed, “I’m done talking.”

Alan then sent a volley of electricity into Martin’s torso which hurled the human a block down the street. Alan went to intercept his quarry only to be blocked by the five ponies and Lupe.

Applejack pawed the ground, “If ya want to get to him. Ya gotta go through us.”

Alan regarded them for a mere second, “Fine.”

He opened his right hand as electricity surged and solidified into the rough shape of a katana. He raised the sword only to be sent flying by a massive piece of debris. Alan stood up and saw Martin who flew at him like a bullet and both humans shot above the cloud line.

*

Alan smashed a charged fist into Martin’s stomach and threw him away from himself.

Alan floated in the air as the katana construct became more like a whip, “You can’t win Martin! You know full well that I am stronger than you!”

Martin’s voice was heard all around him, “Power doesn’t matter,” Martin appeared behind Alan, “What matters is how you use it.”

Martin then grabbed Alan and hurled him into an active storm cloud. The lightning and thunder surged as Martin panted. Martin then cried out in pain as the electro-whip surged out of the clouds and lashed Martin across the chest. The whip came around and wrapped around Martin’s throat as he was forcibly yanked toward Alan who followed through with a clothes line.

*

Lupe and the six as a whole were trying to find out where the battle was taking place. They got the occasional clues via impact that resounded through the air or the occasional volley of electricity.

Lupe turned to look at the six as they tried to keep up, “Twilight, you think he’s got a chance?”

Twilight was grim in her response, “As much as I would like to say yes… I’m afraid Martin’s at a major disadvantage.”

Fluttershy was frightened at the booming of some thunder, “What makes you say that.”

Twilight and the group had entered an open field, “When I analysed Alan’s abilities it seemed his electric powers were evolving faster than his other abilities and they seem to have a potent effect Martin. This accompanied with the fact that Martin is still recovering from his injuries from his fight with Jinx.”

Pinkie Pie was worried, “This isn’t going to turn out well is it?”

Twilight sadly nodded as it started to rain.

*

Alan and Martin were engaged in a mid-air grapple as they kept getting higher in elevation. They broke away from each other and collided occasionally as they halted at about Canterlot’s elevation.

Alan was fuming as held his electro whip, “I defended you in high school and now IM GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS!!”

Alan slashed Martin vertically down the left side of his torso knocking him off balance. The whips came in more rapid succession as the electric weapon tore and burned Martin’s flesh and clothes. Martin yelled in pain and fury as he grabbed the whip in mid swing and yanked Alan into his free fist face first and began to dish out volleys of blows which Alan countered, blocked, and dodged.

Alan noticed that Martin was boxing rather than brawling and kneed Martin square in the ribs causing him to gasp in pain as the air rushed from his lungs. Martin fainted away in pain as Alan stood with a smile.

Alan raised his hands, “You’ve been thunderstruck.”

Alan then let loose a massive volley of electricity at Martin who yelled in agony and writhed in mid-air as the bolts coursed through him. Alan let up for a second as Martin began to slowly drop out of the sky and he began to increase in velocity. Alan flew straight at him and barreled into his ex-friend and both of them soon broke through the clouds and impacted into the ground with an earth shattering blast.

Lupe and the six approached the crater as Martin, barely able to stand, appeared at its rim and weakly said, “R-run.” Alan’s whip then wrapped around his throat and sharply yanked him away from prying eyes.

Alan ran at his ex-friend and delivered a massive haymaker to Martin’s jaw causing the hero to stumble and fall onto the now muddy crater floor. Alan rolled Martin into his back as he sat on Martin’s chest and began to hammer Martin’s head and chest with powerful electrified punches. For a minute all anypony could hear near the crater was the sound of superhuman flesh cracking superhuman bone.

Martin’s face was battered and bleeding as Alan stood off of him and noticed his bone and flesh already slowly healing. Martin opened his eyes and tried to speak, only for Alan to drive his lightning Katana into Martin’s chest. Martin’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates as his body convulsed massively.

Alan left the katana where it was as he floated out of the crater and into the sky looking down at Martin’s prone form. Martin then looked at his friend and with the greatest amount of strength he could muster he raised his hand pleadingly.

Alan snapped, “Why…won’t you…DIE!!”

Martin blinked as Alan was obscured by a massive bolt of white and then all Martin felt was absolute agony all over. Alan kept yelling in anger and with each yell a bolt of lightning descended into the crater and blasted Martin.

After a minute the lightning stopped striking…Martin didn’t move…or breathe.
