Best as can be

Chapter 5: Best as can be
Torpedo was already two months into school. The crusaders have tried every single thing they could do. The tried jump roping, track, sky diving, gymnastics, none of them worked. And in case your wondering, Torpedo hadn't mastered flying yet. One day, Torpedo was getting ready for bed. When she saw her mother.
Just a few days ago, Rainbow Dash had broken her wing. She had gotten in another flying accident. almost like the one in the episode "Read it and weep".
"Mommy, are you feeling okay?" Torpedo walked down to her.
"Yeah I'm fine. My wing still hurts a bit, but if I relax it and don't touch it, it'll recover in about three weeks." Rainbow Dash walked down the hallway as she saw her daughter was following her.
"Where are you going mommy?" Torpedo asked.
"Just gonna sit outside." The mare walked outside.
Torpedo stared at her then she walked out there with her and sat down next to her. It was cold out, but Torpedo didn't really care much. She just snuggled against Rainbow Dash for warmth. It was crystal clear, and Luna had risen the moon. Not a single cloud was out, and you could see all the stars. Torpedo looked at the stars and counted them in her head. Sometimes she lost track, so she just gave up on it.
"Mommy. What do you think my special talent could be?" Torpedo said staring at the stars.
"It can be anything. You'll just have to wait just like your friends." Rainbow Dash stared at the stars as well.
"But we can't wait!" The anxious filly said. "Waiting could be tomorrow, a week, or a year!"
"I waited for my cutie mark. And my special talent is also what I love. Think about what you like. Although some ponies do have cutie marks that don't always represent what they enjoy." Her mother replied.
"Okay mommy." Torpedo said.
As the two ponies continued to stare at the stars, the golden filly snuggled against her mother. Her mother wrapped her hoof around her. Torpedo rested her cheek against her soft rainbow mane. She shut her eyes and tried to fall asleep.
This would be the perfect night. she thought. Or so she thought...
Without warning, the cyan pegasus slipped off the edge of the cloud home and started plummiting to the ground.
"MOM!!!!!!" The filly screamed louder than ever.
She jumped down there with her without making a second thought. She remembered that she couldn't fly yet. So what could she do? She shut her eyes and remembered what her mother had told her. Wings stretched up, hooves straight out, flap every few seconds, and just relax.
She hoped that she could master flying in twenty-five seconds. And hoped. And she did.
She saw she was flying. She smiled with a great big smile. Then she chuckled a little bit. Then she remembered, she had to save her mother!
She flew down as fast as she could. Illuminating the night with a great force, that left a trail of shining gold. She didn't stop. She wasn't going to stop until she had gotten her mother to safety.
"Don't worry about me, Torpedo!" Rainbow lifted her hoof towards her daughter. "Just let me go."
"NO! I WON'T LET YOU!!!" Torpedo screamed.
She kept on flying, not following what her mother had told her. Then she started to twirl, and twirl, and twirl without any control over it. Another force of pure sparkling gold surronded her, then the force of gold outlined the wings making them big and her eyes were nothing but gold and a blast of gold, like a firework, spread over the sky.
"Woah!" Torpedo said.
It gave her enough speed to catch up to her mother. She grabbed her mother with her mouth by the scruff of her neck, even though she was heavy, and flew up back to the house. The rainbow pony smiled at her that said thank you in a way.
Torpedo set her on the clouds and sat next to her. "Thank Celestia I got you. It's kinda wierd. Two months ago it happened to me. Remember?"
"Oh yeah, and Torpedo." The cyan pegasus smiled and pointed to her flank.
Torpedo looked down at her flank. Her cutie mark was there! It was a wheel with a wing coming out of the middle and sticking out.
"I did it! I got my cutie mark! So now my special talent is flying isn't it?" Torpedo smiled at Rainbow Dash.
"It sure is! Just like mine." Rainbow Dash hugged her. "Now weren't you getting ready for bed?"
The Rainbow pegasus gave her a suspicous smile at her filly putting her hooves on her hips.
"No..."The filly said in a suspicous sounding voice.
"Get ready for bed Torpedo." The mare giggled.
Torpedo ran inside the house and undid her ponytail. She brushed through her mane and jumped in bed. She pulled the covers up to her snout and shut her eyes. This was a moment where she could think to herself.
Now that she got her cutie mark, will her life change? Will Sweetiebelle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom still like her? Will she still be a Cutie Mark Crusader? Will Diamond Tiara think differently about her? What will other kids think about her cutie mark? Will they want to know the story? If they did, would she make it sound interesting or boring? Whatever they thought she knew it was an awesome way to earn a cutie mark. The best way. And she knows that forever and ever.
