Chapter 4: Day's of Future's Past

(This chapter shall offer much more clarity and explain stuff that transpired all the way up to chapter 1. This is the first of two just to tell you, the second will take place directly after chapter 3)

The day for the most part had been dreary and bleak in the changeling’s realm. The swamp-like realm with its black organic looking vegetation with very odd looking green bulbs on them would frighten anypony within a hundred miles of its borders if any were brave enough to venture there. But outside this strange realm stood a figure in a tattered blackened robe who regarded the area with slight distaste and intrigue. He slowly proceeded through the muck and murk with wet splotching sounds as the mud sucked at the boots and began to grate on the man’s patience. Soon enough the trees began to thicken and the area darkened as a dull glow illuminated the area from the green bulbs casting greenish light upon the transitioning swamp into a land trail. The man stepped onto the trail and breathed a sigh of relief for finally being out of the swamps stank.

He looked around and began to take notice that he was no longer alone as shapes began to surround him to which he raised his hands, “Take me to your leader.”

He was then hit on the back of his head by something and blacked out.

Queen Chrysalis sat upon her black wooden throne and regarded the congregation of changelings in the cavernous chamber she called her throne room. She absolutely HATED her kingdom that had been shrouded in darkness and mud for as long as she had lived and yearned for a massive change of scenery and a better food source. That’s why she had set her eyes upon Equestria and all who resided there with giddiness and malicious intent. But she was banished form the kingdom of light by the very thing she sought, love.

She sighed in irritation at the memory of the cruel irony only for a changeling to approach her. The changeling himself had a scar on his right eye and was named Zalpha, the name always got a chuckle form the Queen but she merely regarded him with annoyance.

Chrysalis rolled her eyes, “What?”

Zalpha cleared his throat, “A scouting party captured an intruder at the border and it requested to be brought before you.”

Chrysalis smiled with intrigue, “Bring it here.”

Zalpha bowed deeply as he backed away then barked into the darkness for the troops to move; soon a dark shape was hauled into the room and deposited on the floor in a very ruff fashion.

Chrysalis tilted her head slightly confused at the creature; it seemed to use its hind legs to walk like some dragons she had seen and like other creatures it seemed to have opposable appendages used for grabbing.

Chrysalis smiled as the thing moved, “I admire you bravery creature, not many have the audacity to venture into my realm and request an audience with me.”

The Man got into the standing position so quickly that every changeling jumped in surprise, “Well I was in the neighbourhood and though I would drop by.”

Chrysalis noticed the thing had metallic gold irises that seemed to look through her as it scanned the area and came to rest back upon her.

Chrysalis cleared her throat as she stood, but maintained a safe distance, “So why does a creature such as you seek an audience?”

The Man smiled, “It’s more of a proposition really.”

Chrysalis laughed, “And what pray tell is that?”

The Man appeared directly in front of her in a blink of her eye, “Join me, and I shall give you your heart’s desire.”

Chrysalis sneered at him, “And who are you to demand such a thing?”

The man removed his hood revealing his identity, “I am Jinx, the eldest of the aspects of creation.”

Chrysalis had enough, “Whatever you are. Your visit has gone on long enough, GUARDS!”

Several drones swarmed toward Jinx as he turned his head halfway and regarded them very uninterested. Jinx swatted the air like he was dismissing the attack and the drones were then hurled from the room like cannonballs.

Jinx looked at the whole room, “Anypony else?”

The changelings made a move only for Chrysalis to stop them with a look as she turned back to Jinx, “I’m listening.”

Jinx smiled, “Good. Now I am well aware that you had attempted to conquer Equestria before and it failed.”

Chrysalis took on an annoyed pout, “Tell me about it.”

Jinx placed a hand on her neck and led her through the throne room, “Now picture this, a WORLD to yourself and your children. Peace and quiet and an all you can eat love buffet.”

Chrysalis eyes widened only for her to become skeptical, “How can you come to do this?”

Jinx grinned as he opened his hand and a shimmering portal opened in his hand to reveal a world covered by changeling vegetation, “Nothing is beyond my power my dear Queen.”

Chrysalis eye’s sparkled in wonderment at the spectacle, “All of this…could happen?”

Jinx nodded, “Of course but-“, the window vanished abruptly, “You could always say no and live as you have been forever.”

Jinx turned to walk away only for Chrysalis to yell, “Halt!”

Jinx smiled evilly as he turned, “Yes?”

Chrysalis nodded at him, “Myself and my kingdom shall join you.”

Jinx clapped his hands causing his robe to become a new greyish black one, “But we must still prepare.”

Chrysalis looked confused, “How so?”

Jinx smiled, “If we are going to invade a kingdom we need to get chaotic and who else can do it better than my brother.”
*

The moon had been obscured by cloud when two cloaked figures exited the Marshlands and ventured toward Equestria with a sole purpose of acquiring a certain individual. Soon both shapes appeared in Canterlot’s Statue garden and walked through the rows until they came upon a specific one.

Jinx tsked, “Sleeping on the job Discord, typical.”

Jinx snapped his finger and the stone exploded off a VERY shocked Discord who looked around, “WHAT! WHO! WHY! WHERE!?”

Jinx smiled at the draconequus who was VERY surprised to see the aspect, “Big Bro?”

Jinx spread his arms, “hey.”

Discord wrapped Jinx in a hug which Jinx returned, “I THOUGHT YOU WERE DESTROYED!”

Jinx dropped out of Discords arms, “Can’t keep a good aspect down, at least, not all of us.”

Discord looked to his pedestal and kicked it over, “Yeah, Elements of Harmony is some bad mojo let me tell you.”

Jinx sighed, “It can’t be helped-“

Discord cut him off, “And don’t get me STARTED on that annoying human!”

Jinx froze, “Come again.”

Discord looked at his brother, “This stupid mortal human with auburn hair destroyed Phobos trapped me in stone...and not in that order!!!”

Jinx swallowed and turned to a statue and obliterated it with a mere glare as he reeled on his brother, “YOU WERE DEFEATED BY A MORTAL?! AND HE HAS BEEN KILLING OUR FAMILY AND YOU LET HIM LIVE!?”

His voice when raised shook the very Earth and was louder than the royal Canterlot voice but sounded as terrifying as the collective cries of the horrors of Tartarus. He approached Discord as his gold eyes glowed.

Discord raised his talon and lion paw and spoke in a slightly frightened voice, “Now now brother, remember your temper!”

Jinx stopped mid step and exhaled as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, “Fine. Tell me about this human when we get back to the Marshlands.

Discord lowered his arms, “Why?”

Jinx smiled ominously, “Because that mortal was just added to my “to do list.”

Discord smiled as all three villains wandered off.

All of this transpired a week ago as they all witnessed the one know as Martin Fairbridges destroy Averius and celebrating.

Jinx stared at all present, “Alright drones, I want a large contingent of you to find out who is guarding the ceremony on the INSIDE and replace them ASAP. You will maintain your assigned identities until the appropriate time.”, he then gestured to the others, “On the ceremony day the rest of you are to follow my and your Queen’s orders EXACTLY. Errors will not be tolerated, understood?”

All the drones buzzed in agreement.

Jinx nodded, “Excellent. Let the game begin.”
