Chapter 9: Breaking point
It has been four days since I moved into my new home and things haven't gone exactly smooth. Every night I have the same nightmare, over and over, each night the dream becomes more and more real and the pain nearly unbearable.

"Girls, I'm worried about CJ, he has not been himself lately, and he has been having a terrible time sleeping and is trying to stay awake all the time, he seems sick, and he cannot concentrate on anything."
The mane 6 were all at Twilight's house, to discuss the matter of their friends strange behavior.

"I agree with Flutter shy, he has been very paranoid lately, like somepony is going to attack him, he won't even speak to me, we have to try and do SOMETHING!"

"Ah' know what ya'll mean. Jus' yesterday ah' saw him sitting on the ground with his back to ah' tree, doing nothing, jus' staring into space. Ah' couldn't even get his attention on me."

'I have to inform the princess of this right away, maybe she can do something'
"SPIIIIIIIKE!"

I was pacing back and fourth in my living room, trying to take my mind off of that voice, but I just couldn't.
'Just don't think about it, he can't be real... he just can't. I went to therapy, I spoke to so many people, and it just stopped, but these nightmares are just getting so mu-' My thoughts were interrupted by a low growl right behind me.
I slowly turn to see nothing but my couch and window, but I sat there looking for what could have caused that noise. I hear it again, and notice the shadow being cast by the couch slowly stretch out along the ground and stop within inches of me. Then it began to take shape and rise from the ground into a four legged creature with white fangs stained with blood. It's eyes were glowing light yellow and cold air could be felt radiating off of its dark body. I sat there, petrified at what I was seeing, it had the shape of a timber wolf, but its body was a shadow, I could see right through it. I did the only thing I could think of, I ran away from my house, strait into the Everfree forest.

"Now girls, stay behind me and lets go to his house." They all nodded.
As we walked It was dead silent, no one spoke the whole way, the only noise that could be heard was when Twilight began running forward at CJ's house looking panicked.
"Twilight! Stop runn--" I stopped when I saw what she was looking at, CJ's house, door torn off the hinges and from what I could see, claw marks covering it, I flew with all my might to the house and ran inside and could not believe what I saw. His house was a wreck, couch overturned and ripped to pieces, the door torn with claw marks and pulled off the hinges. But that's not what what frightened me the most... it was the words scratched onto the wall and put into bold red with blood...

I ran through the Everfree with all of my energy but my muscles screamed out in agony because of how tired I had become from so little sleep. But I ignored the pain and just kept running and running, always in its shadow....

"SEARCH THE PERIMETER! WE MUST FIND HIM!"

I ran to a tree and hid behind it, sat down to try and catch my breath.
'That run took a lot out of me... wow... I hadn't realized how tired I really was...' My eyelids forced themselves closed and I dazed off.

I see a guard approach me with a sad look in his eyes.
"C-Celestia... we found some tracks from CJ and tracks of what looked to be a timber wolf." He said as he looked down.
"That's great, where do they lead?"
He looked up and sighed, "That's just it... they lead into the Everfree..."
My eyes went wide.
'Luna... LUNA! WAKE UP!'
'Ugh... what is it Tia....' Luna said ending it with a yawn.
'Luna, gather all of your night guards and get to the edge of the Everfree NOW'
It was silent for a moment before Luna responded...'Tia... I don't see why It's so import-'
'Luna if you don't get your flank over here right now I'm going to make you spend the next night with Pinkie Pie... alone...after she ate three boxes of cupcakes'
It was dead silent for a moment before Luna responded to the threat, 'You...wouldn't...DARE'
'Try me...'
'Ugh, fine I'm on my way'

I awoke to the sound of a low growl, when I opened my eyes I saw the shadow wolf in front of me, and it gave a sickening smile and pounced at me.

"I HAVE GATHERED BOTH NIGHT AND DAY GUARDS HERE FOR A MATTER OF GREAT IMPORTANCE! WE NEED TO SEARCH THE EVERFREE FOR-"

I slowly woke up with my head pounding and my hands shaking.
'Dear god this is worse than a Pinky Pie party hangover...'
I looked up slowly when I heard multiple growls above me and saw 5 timber wolves looking back at me.
I spoke in a low... rasp voice as my anger reached It's breaking point, "I am NOT in the fucking mood right now."
Just before they jumped at me I could have sworn I felt myself smile. But not a happy smile, a smile of pure anger, hatred, and insanity, the kind of emotions I have kept bottled up for the last 10 years...

"I don't know, how do they know he is still alive?"
The flyer beside me said, "I'm not sure, but If it is this important, just keep searching."
A loud explosion could be heard in the distance and a flash of light. No, not light... but like a flash of... darkness? As if any light in that area just completely went out for a moment.
"What the hay was that? Come one! We have to go check it out."
We all flew as fast as we could towards the area we heard the explosion.

I was pacing back and fourth until I heard shouts in the distance.
"What? What is it? Did you find-" I was cut off by what I saw.
CJ, unconscious and being carried by two night guards, they put him down and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. His whole body was steaming, as if he was as hot as a flame. His clothes tattered and burned. But the worst part... was the evil smile plastered on his face.
"W-Where... where d-did you find h-him?"
They answered quickly, "We were searching the forest, when an explosion was heard and we saw a strange flash... but it seemed to be darkness, and take away light, not give it, we flew over to the site we saw it happen. CJ was sitting In the center of a crater, with blood and bones scattered around him..."

Just before I released all of my hate and anger, a voice echoed in my head,
'Heheheh... It's been a long time... and this time... you... and your friends will suffer...'
Then there was nothing... I felt my entire body go limp... darkness began taking over... and I felt the faint beating of my heart just stop...
