31. Returning to Viridian

The sun rises in Pallet Town. On the couch in the living room, Diamond Tiara slowly woke up. Wearing her long sleeve nightgown, she was enjoying the atmosphere of Ash Ketchum's house. Just then, Ash's mother, Delia, came in.
"Good morning, Diamond Tiara." Mrs. Ketchum greeted.
"Good morning, ma'am." Diamond replied.
"Did you sleep well?"
"I did. This is one of the most comfortable couches I laid down on."
Delia is impressed with that comment. "That's something I never expected from a member of one of the most elegant families in Canterlot."
This got the former prissy girl shocked. "You know about my reputation?"
"I've often heard about who's who in Canterlot. And, that includes you and your family."
Diamond is impressed that anybody in the Pokémon world knows about Canterlot. Later, the crew was leaving the house. Dressed in her long sleeve blue shirt and capris, Diamond is set to leave.
"Thank you for letting me stay, Ash." Diamond said as they shook hands in friendship.
"You're welcome." Ash said. "You and your pals are always welcome to visit us here in Pallet Town."
"Be sure to say hello to the Cutie Mark Crusaders for us." Delia added.
"We will." Babs replied.
Ash's Pikachu came up to say goodbye to the guests. Diamond wound up petting him. "Good to meet you, Pikachu."
Soon, the trio and Eevee went on their way.
"That Eevee who goes with Diamond reminds me of Pikachu in a way." Ash said happily.
Delia agreed. "I can see why."
At another house, Diamond's host, Jessica was on the phone with someone. "She's heading for Viridian City to earn her final badge."
In the city of Canterlot, Spoiled Rich is on her own phone. "Thank you, Jessica. I'm keeping track of her progress. Bye, dear."
After hanging up, Spoiled Rich looks at her map of Kanto. She sees the stickers of numbers at locations of the gyms Diamond won in.
"Seven down, one to go." Spoiled said to herself. "My young lady is almost ready for the Pokémon League."
Meanwhile, Diamond and company stopped for a break as they let their Pokémon have some time to stretch. The Pokémon are getting along with each other. Pidgeot and Fearow fly above the crowd. Pikachu and Eevee ride upon Porygon. Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise enjoy each other's company. Omastar and Lapras enjoy floating in the water. The girls watch with happy smiles.
"Our Pokémon seem to like each other." Diamond realized.
"I know." Silver added. "Even Aerodactyl is relaxing."
Aerodactyl rests under a tree as Hypno and Kadabra meditate together.
"Hey, Diamond." Babs said. "I see you brought Venusaur, and Hypno. What's your strategy?"
"I heard that the mysterious gym leader at Viridian City uses ground type Pokémon." Diamond added. "I figured that grass and water types are effective. And, It's been a while since Hypno joined us."
"That makes sense."
"Makes sense to me too." Silver added. "That mega evolution we recently got will be helpful in your gym battle."
Diamond admitted that her best friend is right. Later, after recalling all their Pokémon, the girls returned to their travels. In Viridian City, Holly Prema was walking around, thinking of what she went through thanks to Jet Set and Upper Crust.
"It's hard to believe that those elegant folks helped me." Holly said to herself. "It's like the weight I had to endure is lifted off me."
Pretty soon, she was in another location in Viridian City hidden from the area around the gym.
"According to what I heard," Holly figured, "the leader of the Viridian City gym has returned. And, Diamond has seven badges. She'll need to come to this place to win her eighth and final badge before qualifing to battle the Pokémon League. Here in this place, she won't see me and panic."
Holly remembered on how she tried to use Pokémon from other regions to try to intimidate Diamond to give up her journey. "I shall never get in her way again."
Meanwhile, Babs and Kadabra were battling a ballerina and her Vileplume. After avoiding Vileplume's Vine Whip, Kadabra was set to finish the battle.
"Let's do this, Kadabra." Babs called out. "Use Psybeam!"
Kadabra fires a beam of psychic energy to strike Vileplume. The massive flower soon fainted.
"Excellent battle, miss Babs Seed." The ballerina said as she shook Babs Seed's hand. "You did well."
This made her happy. Kadabra soon glowed. That means it's starting to evolve. Where Kadabra stood, an Alakazam now stands.
"All right." Babs cheered. "I have an Alakazam if my own!"
Babs and Alakazam high fived each other. Soon, the girls made it to Viridian City. At the Pokémon Center, Diamond and Babs were just relaxing.
"I wonder where Silver disappeared to." Babs asked.
"I heard that she was challenged to a Pokémon battle." Diamond answered.
At that moment, Silver came in. "Hi, guys. I'm back."
"How was your battle?" Diamond asked.
"It went great! Somebody challenged me with a Jolteon. So, I had Rhyhorn ready."
"Sounds awesome. You must've had a great victory."
"And, something else good happened." She then threw her Poké Ball in the air. "This!"
Out pops a gray stone creature with a big horn on it's face.
"Hey!" Babs said. "Her Rhyhorn evolved into a Rhydon."
Diamond took out her Pokédex to study this new Pokémon. "So, that's a Rhydon, huh?"
Rhydon, the Drill Pokémon and the evolved form of Rhyhorn. The Pokédex said. It's horn can break through the hardest material. With it's strong body, it can go through lava without feeling a thing.
Rhydon soon picked up Silver and hipave her a hug.
"Easy there, Rhydon." Silver said. "Easy on the ribcage."
Everybody had a good laugh from this moment. Later the girls arrived at the Viridian City gym. After having her badges checked, Diamond walked in to meet the gym leader. But, she was shocked to see who it is. "Giovanni!"
It was indeed Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket.
"So, we meet again, Diamond Tiara." Giovanni greeted. "You no doubt defeated seven gym leaders. That's why you came here. Time to find out if you can best me in a gym battle."
Will Diamond Tiara defeat Giovanni to get her last gym badge? If so, will she be ready for the Pokémon League?
