// 27. Island Hopping to Gym Number 7

At the Saffron City Pokémon Center, Diamond Tiara and her friends were looking at the map on Babs Seed's recharged phone. The see that their next stop is a place called Cinnabar Island. They saw the route to get there. So, Diamond had Eevee to use Sky Dash to take them all back to Fuschia City. Then slipping on some swimwear the girls are set to go.
Babs wore a short sleeve blue rash guards and lavender board shorts while Silver wore a red long sleeve swimsuit. They both boarded Lapras while Diamond, wearing the wetsuit she wore in the Cerulean City gym, joined Eevee on their board. Eevee's Sea Skim comes in handy here.
"This is most exciting experience we ever had." Silver said. "Good thing you were given that Lapras, Babs."
"You said it, Silver." Babs replied. "I'm also glad we have on our swimwear. This way, our regular clothes won't get wet."
"I guess my mother learned that we'd be taking this route." Diamond added. "That's why she came by to give me my wetsuit back."
As the girls travel by sea, they see a patch of land. They got off and look at their surroundings.
"So, this is the Seafoam Islands." Silver said. "I wonder where we go from here."
Babs soon sees a cave. "Let's go this way."
The girls enter the cave and us astounded.
"This cavern is magnificent." Diamond said. "Let's put on our footwear. This way, our feet won't get cut open."
Babs put on her sandals while Diamond and Silver slip on their sneakers.
"Good call." Babs said with relief.
As they look around, the see a big pillar. Seeing where that pillar would go, Diamond had Eevee use Strong Push to move the pillar until it went down the hole. Taking a peek down, Silver sees where that pillar went.
"Looks like that pillar is blocking part of some rushing water." Silver noticed. "If we can find another piller to block completely, we can sail on the water."
"Good idea, Silver." Babs cheered. 
The heroes continue their travels. They admire the Pokémon that inhabit these caves including Zubat, Golbat, and Jynx. Soon, they found another pillar. Thanks to Eevee's Strong Push, the pillar was pushed into a hole. Diamond looked down the hole, and saw the pillar was next to the one Eevee pushed earlier. 
"Your idea worked, Silver." Diamond praised. "We can jump into the water and sail to another area."
As the team jumps into the hole, Babs calls for Lapras as Diamond got on her board for Eevee's Sea Skim. Landing in the water, the girls ride the water to another area. After getting on land again, they were shocked to see something beautiful. It was a massive blue bird that give off am icy feel.
"I never saw a Pokémon like that." Silver gasped.
"I think that's one of the legendary bird Pokémon in Kanto." Babs said. "This one is called an Articuno, the Freeze Pokémon."
Interested, Diamond gets out her Pokédex.  Articuno, the Freeze Pokémon. When this Pokémon flaps it's wings, the air becomes very chilly.
Soon, Articuno flies up, and looks for another place in the cave to nest.
"I'm surprised you didn't want to catch that Pokémon." Silver noticed. 
"I don't need to." Diamond said. "Just looking at that Pokémon is enough for me."
Soon, the trio found their way out of the cave. But, they were confronted by a female Ace Trainer.
"Which of you girls would like to have a Pokémon battle with me?" The Ace Trainer asked.
Diamond Tiara steps up to accept the challenge. "I can use practice."
The Ace Trainer gets out a Poké Ball. "My name is Alice. And, here's my first of three Pokémon. Go, Jolteon!"
Out pops a bigger version of Eevee. This Pokémon is yellow with spiky fur.
 Jolteon, the Lightning Pokémon and one of the evolved forms of Eevee. The Pokédex said. When Jolteon gets mad, it's hair turns into needles. And, fires them at the enemy.
Diamond calls for her first Pokémon. "Let's go, Ninetales."
After Ninetales came out, Alice struck fast. "Jolteon, use Thunder Fang!"
Jolteon rushed in with a mouth full of electricity. It bit Ninetales and distributeed it's electric power.
"Oh no!" Diamond gasped.
"Okay, Jolteon." Alice called out. "Pin Missile, FIRE!"
Jolteon fired needles at Ninetales. Diamond reacted quickly. "Ninetales, use Confuse Ray!"
Ninetales used the Confuse Ray at the needles, and fired them back at Jolteon. Alice got shocked as Diamond strikes back. "Let's do this, Ninetales. Use Flamethrower!"
Ninetales blew fire onto Jolteon. The Lightning Pokémon soon fainted. After recalling Jolteon, Alice made her next choice. "Here's number two. Go, Vaporeon!"
Out pops a blue cat like creature with fins around it's head and a fish like tail.
 Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokémon and one of the evolved forms of Eevee. The Pokédex said. It can blend into any body of water to perfectly camouflage itself.
"Ninetales, return." Diamond said as she makes her next choice. "Let's go, Pikachu!"
Pikachu pops out, ready for action.
"Type differences won't help you." Alice boasted. "Vaporeon, use Bubble Beam."
Vaporeon fires a beam of water at Pikachu. Diamond quickly reacted. "Dodge, then use Quick Attack!"
Pikachu zips away from the Bubble Beam, and strikes Vaporeon. Diamond followed that move up. "Now, use Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu fired it's electrical attack, and shocked Vaporeon enough to make it faint. Alice realized she's up against tough competition as she recalls Vaporeon. "Here's my third and final Pokémon. Go, Flareon!"
Out pops a red cat creature with a fureu tuft on it's neck and a fluffy yellow tail.
Flareon, the Flame Pokémon and one of the evolved forms of Eevee. Said the Pokédex.  It's fire sac around it's neck contains the most powerful heat.
"Pikachu, return." Diamond said. She then makes her next choice. "Let's go, Starmie!"
Out comes a Starmie which shocked Babs and Silver.
"Flareon," Alice called out, "clamp down with Fire Gang!"
Flareon approached with a mouth full of fire. Diamond is ready. "Okay, Starmie. Use Water Gun!"
Starmie blasted a stream of water at Flareon. The Flame Pokémon soon fainted, and Alice recalled her friend.
"You are a worthy trainer." Alice said as she and Diamond shook hands. "Thank you for the battle."
This made Diamond feel proud. As the trio of friends travel on the water, Babs saw something they were looking for. "There it is. Cinnabar Island."
"Good eye, Babs." Diamond said happily. "Full steam ahead!"
