Chapter 1
Thanks Rainbow
Up at Wonderbolts HQ, the members on the offical squad on the Wonderbolts team were practicing for their next show in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash is one of the newest members to join the squad after recieving news about Fire Streak's retirement. It's been three months since her offical debut as a Wonderbolt and we all know how that went. At first, Rainbow Dash was not liking the reputation of 'Rainbow Crash' which caused her to end up ruining the show due to her actions. However, Rainbow recovered from the incident after moving on and accepting her new name and gave another meaning to the name that used to haunt her. In addition, her flying skills has made her one of the most popular Wonderbolts on the squad, including her current reputation of being an element holder with her best friends that contributed to her popularity.
"Ok stop! You guys are doing great so far but I think we might be missing something here." Spitfire says. Spitfire was more stressed and occupied about this specific show since it marks the first year of Terek's defeat and she wanted it spot on. "Crash! What if we add your sonic rainboom to the mix and we can finish it off with the Wonderbolt's signature move?"
"We could do that, although I would prefer to do the rainbow at the end so no pony is hurt if you're going to perform the Wonderbolts signature move after I did that." Rainbow dash suggested. Rainbow's signature trick is able to break the sound barrier for a few seconds which takes another few seconds to recover from and has a strong wind current as the radius of the rainbow expands.
"What about if we do our signature move and then added the rainboom as the finishing piece to make things more colourful." Soarin added.
"Y'know what, that's not a bad idea Soar." Rainbow congratulated Soarin on his suggestion to the finishing move while playfully going closer to him and winking at him. Soarin noticed Rainbow's playful body language that made him chuckle to himself.
"Alrighty then we'll do the rainboom and use Soarin's suggestion. Keep the flirting while we're off the runway next time." Spitfire teased to both Rainbow and Soarin and flew up to join the rest of the squad.
Rainbow decided to try see if she could do the sonic rainboom after the bolts signature move was performed and she was successful. Soarin could not look away to see something so beautiful unclose, more specifically he was looking at Rainbow Dash perform it. The colours were so vibrant and colourful he was frozen in awe. He watched Rainbow's mane appearance slightly change due to the speed she was going at and could not take his eye off her wings. Soarin was still flying but not too close to the rainboom so he doesn't get injured, but lost his balance as his mind started to wonder for itself while thinking about Rainbow Dash. Rainbow saw Soarin loose balance and quickly swept him up with him lying on Rainbow's back.
"Wow that was pretty embarrassing" Soarin muttered to himself.
"Y'know we have to stop meeting like this princess," Rainbow Dash teased. Soarin's ears perked up and face started to get heated. Good thing he was in uniform or he would have a run for his money if any pony could see how red his face got. Luckily for Rainbow she was up close and could see a hint of red forming near Sarin's muzzle. "Cute, my damsel in distress is flustered for his knight and shining armour."
"Am not! I just got a little embarrassed by you calling me that." Soarin mumbled.
Rainbow decided to get cocky and smirk at him carrying him down back to the runway where every pony was. "Yo dude you good? Why in Equestria were you still flying?" Fleetfoot asked the stalion. Soarin didn't know what to respond with and couldn't come up with a reason to conceal his true feelings until Rainbow interrupted his thought chain.
"Soarin clipped his wing on accident while flying back down, but don't worry he's not injured and can still fly. Made sure he came back down in perfect condition." Rainbow was getting more cockier and playful and Soarin just became more embarrassed. Soarin would not admit this to any pony but sometimes he liked when a mare was assertive and more dominant then he usually is from time to time, ironic how it's always Rainbow Dash saving Soarin from something instead of the stereotypical gender roles.
"Yea yea I'm fine. I just 'clipped' my wing like Crash said." Soarin replied slyly.
"Whatever turns you on Clipper." Rainbow smirked and sighed in relief before realising what she just said infront of every pony. Spitfire and Fleetfoot were not going to let Rainbow live this down, she would have to take it to her grave.
"Turns you on? Celestia's sake that's going in the quote book." Fleetfoot laughed menacingly.
"Anyways, glad to know you're ok Soarin and great job on the sonic rainboom Dash. I think we'll end practice here." Spitfire smirked going up to chat with the rest of the Bolt's before hitting the shower. "A word Soarin while we walk back." Soarin gulped and he thought he would've been in trouble for flying near the rainboom. "So, Rainbow Dash huh?" Soarin's eyes widened as he didn't expect her to say that.
"W-what about her?" Soarin was trying to act oblivious to the whole situation but was not helping him in anyway due to his voice becoming more high pitched when he's trying to hide something.
"Y'know Rainbow Dash, not surprised you have the hots for her." Spitfire winked at him.
"I mean Rainbow Dash is cool, and pretty, nice, sweet, caring, loyal, cute, hot, sexy, and a talented flyer, basically contributed to saving Equestria on multiple occasions and has one of the best athletic bodies I've ever seen and those wings are gorgeous and even her cutie mark is badass like she is a badass. I have no idea what you're talking about." Soarin rambled to Spitfire. At this point he couldn't care less if his thought train was said to Spitfire since both ponies have been close friends since they were fillies. Spitfire laughed to Soarin's response.
"Well I didn't expect to hear all of that, tmi dude." Spite shoved Soarin while smirking at him.
A mint pegasus approached both ponies after seeing Spitfire lightly shoving Soarin and was eavesdropping on the conversation. "So you find Crash attractive, makes sense why you would let her rail you. Smash!" Fleetfoot exclaimed.
"Fleetfoot! Also you would smash Rainbow?" Soarin curiously asked.
"Fuck yea I would. Have you seen that mare do 500 laps around the compound without breaking a sweat. It's basically like she's a machine who could keep going and going for multiple rounds." Fleetfoot started to tease Soarin since she wanted him to admit he liked Rainbow Dash as more than a friend. Soarin's face lit red and both mares laughed and kept teasing him with jokes about him crushing on Rainbow Dash before Rainbow caught up with the trio.
"Hey guys! What are you all talking about?" Rainbow Dash asked the trio. This was Soarin's chance to get his revenge on Fleetfoot's teasing towards him.
"Oh nothing, Spitfire was just checking up on me to see if I was ok and Fleetfoot came up cause she wanted to play, 'smash or pass' of the Wonderbolts team. Say Fleetfoot, you were quite eager to let Dash smash you weren't you?" Soarin teased and smirked leaving the group to go into the main building to his locker. Fleetfoot's ears and wings dropped to the ground, her eyes shrunk forming a pink shade on her face left embarrassed.
"I mean I would probably fuck me too, but if we're talking the whole Wonderbolt's I'd honestly smash most of you guys here." Rainbow Dash admitted and laughed to calm Fleetfoot down.
Fleetfoot was still mad at Soarin exposing her earlier and raced back to the compound building yelling his name. "I'M GONNA KILL YOU SOARIN SKIES! I DON'T CARE IF WE'RE RELATED AND IF I GO TO JAIL!" Fleetfoot went into the building to find Soarin and playfully attack him.
"Sometimes I wonder to myself if I'm babysitting Soarin and Fleetfoot or if I chose the wrong co-captins." Spitfire sarcastically replied fed up with Soarin and Fleetfoot's bullshit. For context, Spitfire has known Soarin and Fleetfoot ever since they were fillies and were inseparable since, she couldn't imagine being the captain of the Wonderbolts without both their support. Despite the fact Spitfire can say she doesn't like Fleetfoot and Soarin's antics, she loves her friends a lot and wouldn't trade it for anything else.
"I'm sure those idiots will be fine, especially the cute one." Rainbow Dash mumbled that last part to herself as she was walking with Spitfire and the rest of the team back to the main building to find Soarin and Fleetfoot playfully fighting. Everypony couldn't help but laugh at Soarin's and Fleetfoot's antics, it was entertaining to watch.
"I don't get paid enough for this bullshit." Spitfire sounding bittersweet.
