//------------------------------// // Even Scales // Story: Devotionals To A Frozen Goddess // by Undome Tinwe //------------------------------// Atop a hill, two lovers sit, A question asked, a promise made The kiss that’s shared the Fates elide  For Destiny cannot be swayed The light, the dark, their purpose clear Choose one to build, and one to break So all shall tremble out of fear For she doth mold a world so bleak But then a hero must arise To cross her sword with evil's might And victory o'er one despised So once again prevails the light So once again prevails the light The hero's heartache matters not Because she knows she can't lose sight Lest all shall fall to death and rot It happened once, so long ago When Sun and Moon with Chaos supp'd And friendship could but bloom and grow To drink their fill from plaided cup But Nature can't be parley'd with And Nurture too will take its toll The wheel must turn, his fall was swift Defeat as well, to stonèd soul Now pierce her heart, the sword you drove Right through her chest is meant to be Ignore the voice that begs for love Away she'll turn, too blind to see She tried to save her, fool she was Atop that hill was question posed "Must I be forced to join this cause? My price I paid, my chapter closed" The answer came, a promise spoke "You turned to light, so I must turn. This price I pay, for balance broke Is now my duty to return.” And so the kiss must be forgot And so for love a soul turned cold To force the one who’s mortal out To end the battle ‘twas foretold Within the storm, a mortal weeps Her blade still drips with passion slaked  Within her wings, her lover sleeps A princess fallen, ne’er shall wake
