The Twilight Objective

Spike's Discovery: 2

.

Twilight has been working on her latest project for a long while. At least, a week out of site.

At first she had been eating her food fairly regularly, even if I had not seen her eating. The food had been disappearing, before I had returned to the room; cooking for her next meal.

Now I had noticed, the food had not been touched, as if she had just forgotten to eat.

I had not been overly worried, the first time; but after a few days, the untouched food stacking up it started to get to me.

She has not eaten her food, today!” I pondered; “What could have distracted her this much?” I question.

“I will give her one more day, to pick up her meal; to eat, before I check up on her!” I stated.

“If she had not touched her food, by tomorrow night; I will enter the room, despite her warnings!” I proclaimed, as I left the kitchen.

.

As the time I had set had expire, her food still had not been touched. She had not entered the room, and nopony else had. Not as much as a dust-bunny had been disturbed; since yesterday.

“I will have to do something, in order to secure her health and safety!” I had put forth, as I had left the empty kitchen on my way to that forbidden room to her laboratory.

I had feared for her safety, more than the wrath contained in her stern warnings.

“She can scold me, after I have seen her well!” I had reasoned; “Once I have seen proof of her health, and she has consumed a complete meal under my supervision!” I had continued.

If she is not well enough to scold me, she had already validated my worries!” I was pondering, as I ran down the length of the corridor taking me to the room where I had suspected her to be in.

I had knocked on the door: once, twice and thrice before I had opened the door with fear and trepidation. What if she was not well? What if I were to find her body on the floor? What if she had suffered an accident? Too weak or confused to even make it to the door!

My worries had coated my face like a mask, clear for everyone to see.

Twilight is important to me; she had hatched me and raised me into the young dragon I am today. She had fostered me into the well-adjusted and successful assistant she had enjoyed the company of for all these long years.

I had enjoyed her company, for most all this time.

Now, what if she was gone? What if she lay prone on the floor, suffering? I simply could not even stand to bear the doubts as I finally entered the room.

Only, she was not there.

The room was quiet, devoid of life and activity.

I could see the signs of her studies and experiments at the other end of the large room, though.

At least, she had been her before. Hadn't she?

In the end, I had found a large object on the floor in the middle of the room.

Its shape, resembling that of a casket, aside from the glass dome on top.

On the right, I had found a large, green button. “Eject” the text to the right of the button reads.

If I push this button, would it give me my Twilight back?” I had questioned.

Out of options, I had ended up pushing the button.

The glass had slid up with a hissing noise, smoke and vapour had appeared in the crack.

A light had lit inside, permitting me to see her still form where she lay in the still holding stasis field.
