//------------------------------// // Dave's Idea // Story: Equestria Girls: It's Showtime--Imagination Movers: For Those About To Rock // by Big Imagination E //------------------------------// The Movers kept trying to figure a way to help the Rainbooms choose a theme but they decided to take a little break and have a snack. Sometimes it's hard to think of new ideas on an empty stomach. So they went to the fridge and grabbed a few strawberry muffins. "Man. These muffins are so good. You girls want some?" Dave asked. "No thanks. We had lunch before we came here." Applejack answered. Dave nodded and finished his muffin. And then the rest of the Movers finished their muffins too. Then they went back to the Rainbooms and Nina decided to help too. "Alright. Got a good snack. Now back to the problem." Dave said. "Ok. Let's review what we tried so far. We tried seeing what likes you had in common..." Rich started. "And we tried different combinations of music.." Scott added. "And we tried helping you relax your minds." Smitty finished. "We appreciate your hard work and great ideas truly we do. But long story short we still can't choose a theme for the music festival." Rainbow replied. "So what else can we do?" Smitty asked. "Maybe we should cancel the show. We thank you for trying anyways." Sunset said sadly. "Whoa!! We can't just give up! The Imagination Movers NEVER give up! We gotta try something else that can help you choose a theme. You liked the different combinations of music so your on the right track." Rich reasoned. "True. But we wish that there was something that can rate the votes and we can decide the theme from there." Twilight said. Like that Dave had an idea. "You know what? Maybe there is! One second!!" Dave said. So Dave zoomed out and we hearing mechanical stuff happening. Tools were being used and we also hear something drilling and other sounds that are heard for building. After a few minutes Dave came back with a new invention that has a huge screen, seven helmets and some lights. "Ta da!! I present my latest invention! The Musical Theme Rater!" Dave smiled. "Wow! It's amazing!" Twilight beamed."What does it do?" "I'm glad you asked. Ok so say that you girls need a theme but can't choose one. And you wished that there was a way to rate the votes on what theme you want. Well with my Musical Theme Rater it will decide for you!" Dave explained. He demonstrated by putting on a helmet and pressed the red button which got the machine started to do it's job. There were blinking lights and techno sounds going off til finally it processed a theme for Dave. "Next invention: Use a rock and roll theme." The machine said and turned off. "Ooh." The Rainbooms said in unison. "Nice. If that can choose a theme for an invention then I suppose it can work on choosing our theme on our performance! Let's give it a try!!" Twilight said. "You got it! Now lemme type in the information..." Dave said as he typed in some codes for a voting process to determine what theme they can use. "Ok girls! Give it a try." The Rainbooms all went to the machine and placed the helmets on their heads. Once all of them had a helmet on Sunset pressed the red button and the machine started to process the votes for their music theme. Then after ten minutes the machine has the bars rated on each different music theme. However when the Rainbooms saw they ratings it was a seven way tie. "Seven great different music themes but it's a seven way tie. You girls will have to decide which." The machine said and turned off. "What?!" The Rainbooms said in shock. "I thought that hard rock would win!!" Rainbow replied. "No it won't!! Because I believe that rap music would win!!" Pinkie shouted. Then suddenly another argument broke out and the Rainbooms were fighting and even Sunset and Rainbow got so angry at the rates they destroyed it! The Movers worried seeing all that and they decided to try and clear the fight up and Nina told them to do a few breathing exercises to calm down. After five minutes they all were relaxed and calm. But then they realized that they broke Dave's invention. "Oops. We did it again. Were so sorry Dave." Rainbow said in guilt. "It's okay. Sometimes my inventions don't always work the way I want to." Dave replied. "True. But if their themes are all tied with each other..I don't think the Rainbooms are gonna be able to choose a theme like that." Rich said. "He's right. We cannot choose from a tie." Fluttershy agreed. "It was a really good idea Dave. But when we try to think of a theme we don't really use a machine. And plus it's not really fair if we just pick when it's a seven way tie." Twilight added. "Yeah your right. We need another idea. But let's clean up this mess." Dave agreed. The Movers, Nina and the Rainbooms all agreed to clean up the mess as they got some supplies. Rarity pushed a large broom across the floor, sweeping up the scattered pieces of the machine. Fluttershy was able to pick up any small pieces of glass that were scattered all over the floor. It was wonderful that the Movers were giving their all in helping them solve the problem, but with the previous ideas ending not in their favor they all became worried that they won't be able to perform in the music festival. "Well not even a wonderful invention can help us choose our theme. Maybe we should tell the manager that we can't perform." Rarity said sadly. "Don't give up yet girls. The Movers won't quit yet. I noticed you liked the different combinations of music and while you're not the right track maybe you need something else that you can sample." Nina suggested. "But every time we try and sample something to choose we keep arguing. I really don't want that happening again." Sunset worried. "You know guys? Maybe that could be part of the problem. Every time they argue they can't think of anything else. So maybe the first thing we should do is help them rid the stress clouds inside their heads." Scott replied. "Yeah. Cause if they keep getting stressed and argue all the time they won't choose a theme for the music festival." Smitty added. "Good thinking Scott. Girls. I'm gonna play A little relaxing tune on the radio. I want you all to close your eyes and relax til Scott sees the clouds disappear." Rich said taking out a radio. The Rainbooms nodded and Rich pressed the play button and when Scott actived his Wobble Goggles he saw the stress clouds vanish away and the notes began changing more. "Guys! It worked! The stress clouds are gone! I think the Rainbooms can now think better without getting in another argument!" Scott smiled and deactived the goggles. "All right! That part is solved. Now we gotta figure out what the other part is." Dave said. Then Rich remembered what Nina said about mixing music genres and sampling different tunes. He knew there was something else to this that the Rainbooms were forgetting and wanted to see if that was what the Rainbooms need it might be there one chance to solve this problem. "Movers? Nina? Let's huddle." Rich said. So he signaled the Movers and Nina in a huddle so the Rainbooms couldn't hear. "Ok. Movers. I think the Rainbooms can't choose because they haven't heard different instruments to make different tunes." Rich started. "Rich is right. So what if we show them that playing different instruments can help them realize that mixing different tunes and sounds isn't a bad thing and maybe that way they can choose the theme?" Nina asked. "Great idea. But what if haven't? Maybe we should ask them if they did try it before." Dave suggested. The Movers and Nina agreed and they faced the Rainbooms once more. "Girls. What do you do when you try to come up with a theme?" Rich asked. "Well. We try and play our instruments and see what tune works for us. And though we liked the music combinations I feel like I had something but I can't." Sunset answered. "Ok. Now when you play your instruments do you try some different ones? Because sometimes trying new instruments can help you figure out what tune you want to try. And if I had to bet my entire burrow collection on this then I would say that maybe having the Rainbooms sample different instruments would help them choose their theme." Scott replied. Then suddenly when Rich heard everything that Scott said he got an idea that just might work. And he and the others would need to take them to one of their rooms for it to work.
