Please Don't Hurt Me, Your Highness

Chapter One

King Sombra had won the Crystal Empire. Princess Celestia learnt of this only a few days after the event had occurred, and as such, the King had had enough time to secure the Empire against any possible attacks.

If only I had somehow learnt of this earlier there might have been a chance of getting it back without a struggle, but it seems that he's secured it more than before. Why didn't I just go myself? I could have; I was not busy... But no, I just had to think that Twilight and her friends would be up to the task; that they would be able to handle it. But how could they have done so, as when I was their age, I could barely fight Sombra? There was no hope from the start...

"Celestia!" Her sister's voice startled her and she turned to face the speaker. "We know what you are thinking, but now is not the time for guilt! Rather, you, no, we must do something."

"You are right, Luna." She stopped her pacing and began to form a plan in her mind. "We need to save the Element Bearers and the Crystal Empire. We cannot take too long, but we must take a big army as King Sombra would have most likely taken precautions and placed spells and guards around the Empire..."

While Princess Celestia was busy planning her attack strategy, King Sombra was discussing his strategy with the Army General.

"This time we will not lose. The advanced technology we have should be enough to both prevent them from easily ripping through my soldiers, and to stop them from getting any serious injuries. The tranquillisers should also help to prevent any unnecessary bloodshed. Even if the Equestrian Soldiers are working for Celestia, they are merely following orders. And if she hasn't changed from the last time I saw her...Then I fear that they are still obligated to fight for her rather than being able to choose."

General Swiftsword nods, his orange and blue striped mane bouncing as he does so.

Candy's P.O.V:

The memories of how this war had started flash through my head as I stare out of a window.

The Elements of Harmony were no longer here. They were captured by King Sombra, and the same fate had happened to those who went with them.

Princess Celestia probably never thought that such a thing could happen; that the saviours of Equestria would be overpowered, and by an ancient King no less.

And due to her lack of foresight, we are all stuck in a war.

But I don't resent her for that. Ponies make mistakes, and even though most viewed her as a goddess, as someone who was perfect, at the end of the day, she was a pony like us all.

Okay, that was sort of a lie. If the Princess thought more about her decisions and did things by herself more often, we probably would be safe right now.

"Candy! Quick, we've gotta get out of here!" one of my fellow nurses, Lemon Hearts yells.

"Lemon?" I'm shocked to see the yellow coated pegasus in such a state of panic, and only now do my ears pick up the sounds of screaming and gunshots. "What's happening?!"

"They've come. The soldiers from the North are trying to capture us all. Those gunshots you hear? They're shooting the Royal Guards that came to help defend the hospital. Come on, get outta here while you still can. "

"But - But I can't just go, leaving all these ponies behind. What will happen to the wounded patients? They can't even save themselves!"

"Candy. I know this is hard for you, but unless you want to get captured and stuff, run outta here. As for the patients, most of them have already been captured. "

"Most of them, huh?" I ran past her and to the patient's ward on this floor. Thankfully no soldiers are there yet.

"Candy!" Lemon screams after me.

"I'll be fine, you can go if you want!"

I hear her run towards me as I check on the patients. They're still there. "I thought you wanted to get out of here," I remarked.

"I can't just leave you behind, can I? I guess I'll stand guard and warn you if they're coming. "

I nod and close my eyes, letting my horn glow, planning to teleport them out.

I think of a location. I'm not sure what's safe right now, but the hospital in Canterlot should be safe. After all, that city has the most protection, what with its barriers, guards, soldiers and all that. Plus the fact that the Princesses themselves are there.

Three...two...one… Five patients are safe. There are thirty here.

When I'm about to teleport the last five out, Lemon rushes towards me, panicked. "They're coming! Just around the corner. "

I catch the sound of approaching footsteps and dive under an empty bed, with Lemon mirroring my actions.

A moment later a troop of soldiers burst into the room, brandishing their rifles and snarling. "Surrender and come with us peacefully, or the consequences won't be pleasant!" yells one, stepping forward.

I freeze in terror. I don't want to die!

"We know where you are! You have one last chance to surrender!"

Shakily, I begin to come out from under it, ignoring Lemon's words.

"Candy! You can't just give up like that!" she whispers.

" You heard them… Either we surrender ourselves, or we'd d-die. Or even get a worse fate… "

I go to my knees and put my hands in the air, and pray that they won't kill me.

A soldier handcuffs me, and pulls me up, putting one hand on my shoulder and using the other hand to press a gun to my forehead.

I get what he's trying to tell me, and make no attempt to resist, despite how hard my heart beats in fear.

What would they do to me?
