//------------------------------// // Investigation // Story: The other side // by Nyan_Cat //------------------------------// "So, um... can one of you tell me where we're going again?" Rarity asked trying to keep up with the group of ponies. They had been walking for FOREVER, or it just felt like it. "Trying to look for Twilight Sparkle's house. It was Pinkie's idea," Rainbow Dash said, losing altitude so she could talk to Rarity, "And I guess that what Pinkie says goes." "Hmph. Well, I wish it didn't. I should not have to walk this far. I'm a lady, after all. Why can't we just take a taxi or something?" "Don't whine at me, your highness. We might miss something if we take a cab." "That was not whining, it was complaining. And why don't you just fly up high, and see if you find anything? That would be much quicker than this. " "Hey, that's a good idea!" Rainbow Dash zoomed up in the air, hovering just over the town hall. While Rarity was waiting, three familiar faces were approaching her. "Oh, there's Rarity! Hey Rarity, hey Rarity, guess what we found?" Pinkie called out, trotting towards her. Rarity walked over, noticing how Fluttershy tried to stay as far away from Applejack and Pinkie as possible, and decided to stand right next to the fashionista. "Yes, dear? What was it?" "Absolutely nothin'. Pinkie here had us walking all over Equestria," Applejack said. "N-nothing? No house? No library?" "Nothin'." "Well that's a shame. Pinkie, why exactly were we looking for it, anyways?" "Well, just for fun! Didn't you guys have fun? Because I did! We saw all sorts of stuff, like-" "Yes, Pinkie, I understand," Rarity said, interrupting Pinkie, who didn't really seem to mind, "But I wish you'd tell me before I have to do pointless things. All of this walking made my hooves dirty," She said, frowning. "Rarity? You look nice to me. And you don't look dirty..." Fluttershy said quietly. "Thank you, darling. At least somepony cares." Applejack snorted, glancing at the unicorn but not saying anything. Rarity turned and glared at her menacingly. "Were you going to say something, Applejack? By all means, feel free to do so." As Applejack opened her mouth to speak, Rarity sighed, then trotted away, leaving Applejack to stand there awkwardly with the other two mares. Applejack frowned, then turned back to the group. Fluttershy seemed to be trying to sneak away from the group, and held completely still when she spotted Applejack's gaze. Pinkie was acting normal, for her at least, and bouncing in place. And well, that was it. Applejack looked up at the clouds, thinking she heard something. Finally, she turned back to the hopping pink mare. "Are we missin' somepony here, sugarcube?" she asked Pinkie. "Yep! Rarity, for one. And the other? Look up," she said, and just then a rainbow streak zoomed over the sky then landed next to them. "Hey there, Rainbow! Whatcha doin' up there?" "Looking for the library. Where'd Rarity go?" she asked, looking around. "Oh, she left." Pinkie pointed down the road, aiming at the Carousel Boutique. Rarity was entering the building, not even turning around to look at them. "Aw, why'd she leave?" Rainbow asked. Applejack silently glared ahead, looking down the road. They were all silent for a minute, until Pinkie let out a gasp. "Guys! Guys! Guess what?" "What now, Pinkie Pie?" Rainbow asked, keeping herself from rolling her eyes. "What if... this is a STORY?" "Hm? What do you mean, Pinkie?" Fluttershy asked. "I mean, what if somebody is sitting at a computer right now and reading this? And, and, what if we're all imaginary characters, and what if-" "Pinkie Pie, you're crazy," Applejack interupted, and silently left with Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, leaving Pinkie Pie to sit in the middle of the road and know the answers to everything.
