The Princess's Heart

Rainbow sat in the hospital lobby, feeling very sad. That little girl had her life ahead of her, and because she wasn't fast enough, the girl had died. It was not what she wanted to happen on her birthday.

“How could I have let this happen?” Rainbow said, feeling massive guilt.

‘“Let what happen, Rainbow?”

Rainbow looked up to see none other than the spirit of Master Splinter.

“I sense you are feeling great guilt about something,” Splinter told the girl.

“I was meant to deliver a heart to a sick little girl, but I was too late,” Rainbow explained while feeling genuinely guilty. “All because I wasn’t fast enough.”

“What you’re feeling is genuine, but it shouldn’t weigh you down,” Splinter advised her. “Especially considering your work isn’t done.”

Rainbow went from feeling guilty to confused. “What do you mean?”

“There she is!”

Just then, a group of doctors came running to her. Rainbow turned to see Master Splinter was gone. But didn’t say anything as the doctors approached her.

“Where's the Princess's heart.”

That sentence got her attention.

“Princess? Because the girl died, the heart's going to a princess?” Rainbow asked in confusion.

“No, the girl is the Princess. Princess Saunda Shaah, the youngest granddaughter of Queen Unna Shaah of Reinkani, age ten. She isn't dead, but she is running out of time.

Rainbow was very confused. The doctor outside the hospital told her the girl died. That's when Rainbow realised why the doctor looked familiar.

“I've been conned.”

Rainbow looked around the lobby until she saw the “doctor” in the elevator holding the carrier. The woman noticed Rainbow and mockingly waved to her while smirking under the mask while the door closed.

“Rainbow ran towards the elevator, but it was too late; it closed.

“No, no, no!” Rainbow said in frustration as she slammed her fist on the door. She then looked up to see the elevator going down. She also noticed a staircase next to her. So Rainbow used her speed to run down after the fake doctor, hoping it wasn’t too late.

...

The elevator arrived at an underground parking lot, and the doctor stepped out. She then removed her headpiece and surgical mask and threw off her scrubs, revealing herself as none other than VILE Operative Tigress.

“Sucker,” Tigress said to herself, feeling proud.

Waiting for her were fellow operatives Le Cheve and El Topo. With them was a mysterious figure, a brown-skinned man with brown curly hair, wearing a dark green overcoat, brown dress shirt, black slacks and shoes. He was also holding a cane.

Tigress approached them.

“So, mi amiga, did the bait and switch work?” El Topo asked.

“Like a charm,” Tigress smirked, holding out the carrier.

“Excellent!” The figure took the heart with an evil grin. “Soon, I shall become king of Reinkani, as I should have been from the beginning.”

“Just remember the agreement you made with the faculty,” Le Cheve reminded him.

“Don't worry, I am a man of my word. My only regret is that I never got a chance to thank young Rainbow Dash for her help in starting my rule.”

“She should call herself Rainbow Chump!” Tigress mocked as Le Cherve snickered at that sentence.

Suddenly, the door to the stairs burst open, and Rainbow came speeding out. Before they could react, El Topo and Le Cheve were knocked down by Rainbow and Tigress was pinned against a pillar.

“A chump, huh!?!” Rainbow glared. “Now give me back the heart, Tigress!”

“Why don’t you tell that to him?” Tigress pointed.

Rainbow looked back to see the figure enter a car with the heart and drive away. She threw Tigress away and tried to run after the car, only to find, to her horror, that she had no speed. She frantically felt around her neck and discovered her geode was gone.

“Lose something?” Rainbow spun around to see Tigress holding her geode before putting it into her boot. “It'll be hard for you to get the heart back without that little speed of yours.” She got out her claws as Le Cherve and El Topo got back up, ready to fight.

“And if I'm not mistaken, you don’t have that bladed stick you held last time,” Le Cheve pointed.

Rainbow knew Goat Boy was right. She looked at the three operatives, then back at the car. But she remembered the little souvenir she got from that guardian.

“That's true. But good thing I'm also a ninja!” Rainbow threw the knife towards the car, nailing it right into the tyre, popping it and forcing it to stop. Then, she turned to her opponents in a fighting position. “Now give me my geode back, and maybe I won't kick your butt! Much!”

“Don't make threats you can't keep, senorita.” El Topo ran to punch Rainbow, but Rainbow dodged, and Roundhouse kicked him.

Le Cheve then tried to jump-kick her, but Rainbow grabbed his leg and threw him away.

Tigress tried to claw at Rainbow multiple times, but Rainbow dodged each one, then dodged, rolled and leg-swept the kitty kat.

But what Rainbow didn’t notice was the goat and mole recovering, then grabbing Rainbow from behind. Rainbow struggled to break free.

“Nowhere to run now, Rain-dumb-bow,” Tigress mocked as she got her claws out.

The figure got out of the car and approached them.

“Now, now, let me just have a word with her first," the figure said, approaching. "So, you're the speedy delivery girl. Thank you so much for delivering me the key to my victory.”

“Who are you?”

“I am Count Dushta Bisp of Reinkani. Nephew of Queen Unna Shaah. And in a matter of minutes, King of Reinkani.”

Rainbow then began to put the pieces together.

“So that’s what this was all about. The princess needed a new heart, and you saw an opportunity to get the crown.”

“Indeed, young one. Soon the little princess will die from a lack of heart, her dear grandmother will die from heartbreak over the death of her youngest granddaughter. And, the eldest granddaughter, crowned princess Vera Shaah, will soon die from a car crash, personally driving up here in the snow to see her sick little sister.”

“Leaving you to take the crown.”

“Correct. But there are still others left, but that can wait till after. After I dispatch of the Royal B…”

“Watch your mouth!”

Carmen Sandiego dropped and kicked the Count, making him drop the case. Rainbow was surprised by the appearance of her red-suited friend.

“Carmen!?!”

“Hey Rainbow, been a while,” Carmen greeted Rainbow Dash.

“Oh no, you don’t!” Tigress tried to attack her, but Carmen Roundhouse kicked her.

Then, a figure jumped down behind Le Cheve and El Topo. It was the guardian from before. He side-kicked the goat and knife-handed the mole.

“You again?”

“Relax, he’s with me,” Carmen assured Rainbow.

The Vile Trio gained consciousness.

“Who are you?” Le Cheve asked.

“I am a guardian.”

“Whoever you are, you just made a big mistake!” Tigress released her claws.

“And you made the mistake of messing with my country.”

“By the way, Rainbow, you might need this.” Carmen showed Rainbow her geode, which she managed to swipe from Tigress.

“What?!”

“My Geode!” The Rainbow tried to get it, but Tigress managed to grab it from Carmen.

“Too slow.”

But the guardian managed to kick the geode away from her, flying it and landing on one of the steel beams above.

Le Cheve used his climbing skills to reach up and grab the Geode.

“Voila!” But by then, the guardian’s falcon swiped it from Le Cheve. “Hey!”

The falcon dropped it, allowing Rainbow to catch it.

“Ah yeah!” Rainbow put on her geode and speed-tackles El Topo. She then races and punches Tigress across the face, knocking her out. After which, she races and grabs the heart. “Who’s the chump now!”

But at that moment, Rainbow felt a sharp pain in her side.

“Argh!” She looks to see she’s been cut on her side by Bisp, who used the sword in his cane.

“Rainbow!” Carmen helped her up.

“I will not be denied my destiny.” Bisp tries to kill her and Carmen and destroy the heart, but the guardian gets between them and blocks Bisp’s attack with his sword.

“I should have known you’d interfere to protect your cousin, Yod.”

“Cousin?” Rainbow asked in confusion while still dealing with the pain.

“And I was right to suspect you, Dushta.” The figure, or Yod, pushed Dushta away. He then removed his jacket and cloak. He wore a green 3-quarter-sleeved shirt and black hair tied in an upward bun. “And you're gonna pay for your crimes.”

More men arrived in the parking lot as the VILE trio gained consciousness. Yod turned to Rainbow.

“Go, Rainbow! Get the heart to Saundra!” Yod ordered Rainbow as she got up. Rainbow was hesitant to leave the two, which Carmen could tell.

“Don’t worry about us; just get the heart to the princess.”

Rainbow then sped away toward the exit. Heart in her hands and pain in her side.

“Please let there still be time; please let there still be time!”

Rainbow ran out of the parking lot and towards the front hospital entrance and ran through the glass window. That got the attention of the doctors as she fell to the ground.

“Get the heart to the Princess, hurry!”

The doctors took the heart as more checked on her, as Rainbow passed out from her injuries.
