Lyra
I gave a yawn as I leaned against the row of lockers as I watched my classmates talking to their friends. This was the last day of school till Thanksgiving break. Trixie, Lightning, Applejack and Twilight were all talking next to me.
“So Trixie,” Twilight said as she pushed her glasses up. Her pony counterpart was at the band room on the other side of the school with Rainbow and Vinyl. “What are you doing for Thanksgiving?”
“Dad is occupied and mom is working overnight so probably just putting something in the microwave for dinner. You?”
“Really?” Applejack asked and raised an eyebrow. “Thanksgiving should be with ya friends and family.”
“I’ll be fine,” Trixie said and I instinctively knew she was lying. She only used first person when she was serious or lying. Based on Applejacks face, she knew she was being lied to as well.
“Uh huh,” Applejack said and we all looked at each other.
“Trixie, wanna come over for Thanksgiving?” Twilight offered with a small smile. “Mom and Dad would love to have you. Cadence is coming with my brother like every year. We always have an empty seat.”
Trixie choked on a cracker and Applejack slammed a hand into her back. Trixie gave her a grateful nod before giving Twilight a stunned look.
“Why me? Lightning doesn’t have any plans with her family either,” Trixie pointed out.
“I’m hanging out with Fluttershys family this year. Last year I was with Rainbows. Derpy and Sunset’s families are getting together so,” Lightning pointed out. “Just say yes damn it. You deserve to be with some people who care about you.”
“Okay fine,” Trixie sighed as Twilight grinned.
“What about Watermelody? Why didn’t your girlfriend invite you to her families dinner?” I asked as Trixie inhaled.
“We haven’t introduced each other to our respective parents. We did briefly talk about it but decided to wait. Granted, she doesn’t know I don’t have any plans for that day so there is that.”
“We are going to have so much fun!” Twilight laughed as she hugged Trixie who stared at her before patting her on the back. “We can play video games and such!”
“You play video games?” Lightning asked with a disbelieving look.
“Yeah! Sunset got me into them. After my whole Friendship Games incident, Sunset and Derpy spent a lot of time with me. Mainly Sunset because of her former magical incident experience. Applejack and Fluttershy helped a lot too. Oh, and Lyra. You know what, everyone helped. Let’s just say that.”
I gave a faint chuckle as she and Trixie separated as Twilight handed Trixie a sticky note with her number and instructions to call her after school.
“I think deep down Sunset was a bit jealous of me,” Twilight commented suddenly and we all gave her confused looks.
“What do ya mean?” Applejack asked curiously as we watched Bright Idea and Scribble Dee hug.
“I mean, I had the entire school rallying behind me, being nice, helping me. Sunset never got that. She got bullied, pushed around and more,” Twilight said as Lightning and Trixie both flinched. They both hadn’t been entirely fond of Sunset pre battle of the bands.
I was partially grateful Octavia wasn’t here. She and believe it or not, Bon Bon had been the most cautious about Sunset but Bon Bon had been very quiet about her opinion. Octavia on the other hand was very public about it. I knew she still hated herself for it.
“Anyway,” Twilight continued. “She never really had support like that except from Cheerilee, her family, Derpy and the rest of the Rainbooms. She was probably jealous about that deep down. I would be if our roles were swapped.”
“Sunset always has been very independent. If she does feel that way, most likely she only told Derpy or her family,” Applejack said and shrugged. “Ain’t no point in dwellin in the past.”
“True that,” Lightning agreed as our classmates fell silent and stared in shock at Sunset walking with Spitfire. Her sister still wore her military uniform with medals all over and dress pants with black shiny shoes and sunglasses.
Derpy was next to Sunset as the two stopped next to the bathroom and they both disappeared inside.
“Her sister seems to be adapting well,” Lightning commented as we all watched Spitfire giving cold looks to the other classmates. I was glad to not be on the receiving end of her glare.
“Ah was pretty impressed. Ahm still surprised Sunset hasn’t helped her pick new clothes.”
“I mean, it’s only one day. Probably didn’t see a point and I think Rarity was dropping some stuff off for them tonight.”
I gave a shrug as a reply as Bon Bon and a small girl with red hair followed behind her.
“Hey Twist,” I grinned and hugged the girl.
“Hey Mith Lyra,” Twist said as she stretched and hugged me back.
“She’s coming to live with us. She arrived when we were all on our unofficial break,” Bon Bon grinned as we separated. “This is so awesome.”
“You’ve been around Dash too much. And don’t call me miss please, makes me feel old,” I said as I released Twist.
“Thorry Lyra.”
“Don’t sweat it,” I waved a hand lazily as I placed a hand on Bon Bons shoulder. “I’m so ready to go sleep. I have YouTube to watch as well.”
“And you have to come over to help with Thanksgiving,” Bon Bon pointed out with a wink. “Crazy to think we’ve been doing this for years.”
“Ah gotta catch up with Mac and Bloom. Ahll see yall around. Have a good Thanksgiving,” Applejack said as she pushed herself off the lockers as Apple Bloom walked past with Scootaloo.
“You too AJ,” Lightning said as Applejack ran after the two girls. “I gotta go catch up with Fluttershy. I’ll give you guys a call or something.”
“Bye!” Bon Bon waved as Lightning walked away. “You leaving too Trixie and Twilight?”
“Just waiting for my brother to come pick me and I’m telling my parents Trixie is joining us this year,” Twilight said as she put her phone away. “Hi Twist.”
“Hello!”
”School is now out, you’re all free to go. Have a good Thanksgiving!” Principal Celestia said over the intercom as I smiled at Octavia and Vinyl running past.
“Vinyl Scratch, I have had enough Christmas music at work! You are not making me listen to anymore until December!” Octavia shouted as Vinyl held out her head phones.
“Come on Tavi!”
“No!”
I looked at Twilight and Trixie as the five of us started laughing. While I felt sympathetic, Octavia was on her own here.
If I don’t bring attention to myself, Vinyl won’t submit me to that torture.
