Sunset and the rest of the Mane 6 start preparing for the Fall formal as they put on their dresses and accessories.
“Alright, girls!” Sunny Flare excitedly screamed. “If we gonna make it big tonight we gotta look the best we can so lets put on these dresses and have the best night of our lives!”

“You girls look amazing!” Sunny Flare said. “Let's go and head back to the school before the Formal starts we don't wanna be late”.
Sunny Flare quickly calls a Limousine and The girls arrive at Canterlot High As they enter the school, Flash Sentry pulls up in his car. He jumps out and quickly runs up to Sunset. “Uh, Sunset! Look, I know you said "no" about going to the Fall Formal with me, but would you reconsider and at least have one dance?”
“I didn't say "no"! I mean, I did, but... I didn't mean no, to you. I was... Well, what I mean is... yes. I'd love to dance with you!” Sunset Replied Blushing in embarrassment.
Sunset took Flash’s hand and slowly walked to the doors...only for him to hit his face in one of the doors (Ouch).
Inside the auditorium, the girls and the rest of the attendees dance to Flash Sentry and his band's live performance.
But Sunset senses that someone is missing.
“Does anybody see Twilight anywhere?” Sunset asked Indigo Zap.
“Maybe she was too embarrassed to show! She's gotta know you won by a landslide!” Indigo Zap replied.
“Maybe...I just wonder what she is planning to do” Sunset said putting her hand over her chin.
After the band finishes their song, Principals Luna and Celestia walk on stage to announce the Princess of the Fall Formal. After some words of praise to the students for their hard work. “ First off, I wanna say how wonderful everything looks tonight. You all did a magnificent job pulling things together after the unfortunate events of earlier. And now, without further ado, I'd like to announce the winner of this year's Fall Formal crown. The Princess of this year's Fall Formal is...Sunset Shimmer!” Principal Luna announced.
Every Student stood and cheered as Sunset took the stage. “Congratulations, Sunset. You earned this”.
As Principal Luna congratulates Sunset and places the Fall Formal crown on her head, Snips and Snails sneak into the auditorium through a back door, and without the others noticing they kidnap Garble.
“Sunset! Help!” Garble screamed.
“Garble?” Sunset looked around searching for Garble and she saw Garble in the hands of Snips and Snails.
“They’ve got Garble!” she runs out after the duo, followed quickly by her friends. Snips and Snails take Garble into the school courtyard near the statue, where Twilight Sparkle is waiting.
“That's close enough!” Twilight said coming behind the portal.
Sunset and her friends find themselves face-to-face with Twilight Sparkle, brandishing a sledgehammer and ready to destroy the portal back to Equestria.
“Don't hurt him!” Sunset tells Twilight not to hurt Garble.
“Oh, I wouldn't dream of it. I'm not a monster, Sunset.” Twilight looks over at her minions. “Let him go” Snips and Snails let go of Garble as he runs back into Sunset’s arms.
Twilight looked back at Sunset with an evil smile on her face. “You don't belong here. Give me the crown, and you can go back to Equestria tonight. Or keep it and never go home”. Sunset could only gasp.
“Tick-tock, Sunset. We haven't got all night. The portal will be closing on its own in less than an hour. So, what's your answer?”. Twilight tries to reason with Sunset to hand over the crown.
Sunset looked at the portal and back at her friends she sighed as she looked down and looked at Twilight in the eyes. “No.”
“ What!? Are you serious?! After all of this?! Equestria! Your friends! Lost to you forever! Don't you see what I'm about to do to the portal Shimmer?!”. Twilight angrily replied.
“Yes, of course, I see! But I've also seen what you've been able to do here without magic. Equestria will find a way to survive without my Element of Harmony. This place might not, if I allow it to fall into your hands. So go ahead. Destroy the portal. You are not getting this crown!”. Sunset said as she put on her crown again.
Twilight appears to give up. “Fine. You win,” she said throwing the sledgehammer down.
After saying that Sunset’s friends surround her.
“You... are... so awesome!” Indigo Zap said.
“I can't believe you were gonna do that for us!” Sugarcoat said hitting Sunset on the back.
“It's no wonder you're a real live princess!” Sunny Flare said.
While they are talking Twilight gets angrier by the second. “Oh, yes, she's so very special!”. Twilight loses her temper and charges at Sunset, tackling her and knocking the crown off her head. She tries to grab the crown but Sunset grabs her by the stomach and pulls her back as Garble snatches the crown away from Twilight.
“Grab him, you fools!” Twilight said to Snips and Snails struggling to get Sunset off her.
Garble tried to go through the Door but couldn't as Snips and Snails nearly cornered him before Indigo Zap called to Garble to give her the crown. As Snips and Snails tried to catch her but she threw the crown to Sour Sweet. During the minutes that follow, the crown repeatedly trades hands as Sunset and her Friends trying to keep it out of Twilight's, Snips', and Snails' possession. In a moment of absentmindedness, Sunset tosses the crown away, and it ends up in Twilight's hands.
“I'll take that!” Twilight said as she laughed evilly while looking at the crown “At last! More power than I could ever imagine!”
A giddy Twilight immediately places the crown on her head. As soon as she does this, a magical aura surrounds her and she is lifted up into the air. Sunset, her friends, and onlooking Fall Formal attendees watch in horror as Twilight is surrounded by a dark aura and transformed into a demonic creature known as Midnight Sparkle.
Midnight evilly laughs at the mane 6 as she turns Snips and Snails into demons as well She looks back at the entrance and sees Students trying to leave but she prevents them from leaving.
“I've had to jump through so many hoops tonight just to get my hands on this crown, and it really should have been mine all along. But let's let bygones be bygones. I am your princess now, and you will be loyal... to me!” The transformed Twilight tears away the entire front entrance, declaring herself the students' "princess" and demanding their loyalty. She flies into the school and projects her magic onto the fleeing students, hypnotizing them into submission.
Midnight looked at Snips and Snails. “Round them up and bring them to the portal.” then she looked back at Sunset and her friends. “Spoiler alert: I was bluffing when I said I was going to destroy the portal. I don't want to rule this pathetic little high school; I want Equestria! And with my own little teenage army behind me, I am going to get it! no matter the cost!”
Sunset decided to stand her ground against Midnight. “No, you're not! even with all that power we won't stop trying to defeat you!”
Midnight just laughs at her face “ Oh, please! What exactly do you think you're going to do to stop me? I have magic, and you have nothing!”
“She has us to help her!” Indigo Zap said as the others went behind Sunset’s back.
Midnight just Smirks and Laughs Evilly “Gee, the gang really is all back together again. Now step aside! Sunset has tried to interfere with my plans one too many times already! She needs to be dealt with!” Midnight hurls a fireball at Sunset to take her out. Just before the spell hits, Sunset's friends huddle around her. Midnight cackles at her apparent victory but is shocked to find her attack had no effect. “What?!”
A pink force field surrounding Sunset and her friends had protected them from Twilight’s Attack and Sunset looked at Midnight with Confidence.
“The magic contained in my Element was able to unite with those that helped create it! [echoing] Honesty! Kindness! Laughter! Generosity! Loyalty! Magic!” An aura from the crown engulfs Twilight and her friends in light, linking each of them to their Element of Harmony and giving them pony-like traits, including actual ears, wings, and hair extensions resembling tails when viewed from the front “Together with a crown, they create a power beyond anything you could imagine, but it is a power you don't have the ability to control! The crown may be upon your head, Twilight Sparkle, but you cannot wield it, because you do not possess the most powerful magic of all: the magic of friendship!”
The magic surrounding Sunset and her friends explodes, causing a double-helical rainbow to shoot out and engulf Midnight Sparkle in a rainbow-colored tornado. “NO! This can't be! What is happening?!”
“Here and in Equestria, it is the only magic that can truly unite us all!”
As the bright light dissipates, the students congregate at the front of the school. Garble runs out to Twilight, who is lying on the ground with her friends. Sunset picks up Garble and hugs him while their friends approach her. The seven of them notice a large crater in the ground, with Twilight Sparkle having returned to normal and is now lying at the bottom of it.
“You will never rule in Equestria. Any power you may have had in this world is gone. Tonight, you've shown everyone who you really are. You've shown them what is in your heart.” Sunset tells Twilight which reduces her to tears.
“ I-I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know there was another way...I didn’t know there was another way to this” Twilight apologizes to everyone for what she's done.
“The magic of friendship doesn't just exist in Equestria. It's everywhere. You can seek it out, or you can forever be alone. The choice is yours” Sunset tells Twilight again.
“But... But all I've ever done since being here is drive everyone apart. I don't know the first thing about friendship.” Sunset looked at Twilight with empathy as she took her hand and picked her up Twilight looked at her confused.
“I bet they can teach you.” Sunset pointed at her Friends.
“You really think they can help?” Twilight asked still in tears.
Sunset put a hand on Twilight’s Cheek. “Anything is possible with the Power of Friendship, I see potential in you Twilight and I think you can change for the good,” Sunset said pulling Twilight into a hug and she was more than happy to return it.
“Those are my girls! Woo-hoo!” Garble said clapping his paws.
“Did that dog just talk? Whoa. Weird.” one student said.
“Seriously? The talking dog is a weird thing about all this?” Garble said as he was picked up by Sunny Flare.
“I, for one, think you're adorable.” She said giving Garble a chin rub which he liked
Principal Luna walks up to Sunset. “ I believe this belongs to you. A true princess in any world leads not by forcing others to bow before her, but by inspiring others to stand with her. We have all seen that you are capable of just that. I hope you see it too, Princess Sunset.” Principal Luna said placing the crown on Sunset’s head.
“Yeah... I think I do.” Sunset replied.
Flash Sentry then extends his hand to Sunset, “Would now be a completely awkward time to ask you for that dance?” Sunset giggled as she took Flash’s hand and the Fall Formal Continued.
“You'll look out for her, won't you?” Sunset asked looking at her friends.
“Of course we will. Although I do expect some sort of apology for last spring's debacle” Sunny Flare said.
“ I have a feeling she'll be handing out a lot of apologies,” Sunset replied.
“We better get going,” Garble said
Sunset nods but not before looking back at her friends. “ I know we've only been friends for a short time, but I'm gonna miss all of you so much.”
That crown really does suit you, Princess Sunset” Garble Teased.
“ You know what, Garble? I am starting to feel a little more comfortable wearing it.” Sunset Replied
“And the wings?”
“I've been walking on two legs and picking things up with these! Wings? I'm thrilled that's all I'll be dealing with back in Equestria!”
Sunset enters the portal as it closes her human friend’s Wings and ears all disappear Lemon Zest tries to go into the portal but to no avail. “Aww Bummer...”
Back in Equestria, Sunset's Pony friends and the princesses wait patiently for her return. Sunset emerges through the portal, teetering on her hind legs as she is once again a quadruped, and drops down to all four hooves. Her friends run up to greet her.
“Sunset!” Sour Sweet said.
“Ah, you're back!” Indigo Zap said.
“You've got your crown!” Sunny Flare said.
“I knew you could do it!” Lemon Zest said.
“Oh, we were so worried,” Sugarcoat said.
“Twilight Sparkle, is she alright?” Princess Luna asked
“ I think she's gonna be fine. I left her in good hands.” Sunset replied as her friends looked at each other with Confusion.
“What are hands?” Indigo Zap said.
After a lot of Questions, Sunset got tired of it real quickly.
Sunset sighs “I wanna tell you all everything, I do, but I'm just so exhausted from all the dancing.”
“Dancing?!” the rest of her friends said at the same time.
Sunset rolled her eyes but bumped into a pony with blue hair. “Oh, We've got to stop bumping into each other like this.” the pony passed as Sunset continued to look at him.
“Who was that?” She asked.
“ He's a new member of the castle guard. Flash Sentry, I think. Why? Do you know him?” Princess Chrysalis asked.
“Not exactly,” Sunset asked as her friends had a knowing smirk on their faces.
“Oooh! Somepony's got a crush on the new guy!” Sugarcoat teased.
“What?! No. No. I dont” Sunset tries to hide it but her friends were seeing through it.
“She does! She absolutely does!” Sunny Flare said.
“Don't be ridiculous. I don't even know him. He just...” Sunset said but she was cut of by Lemon Zest
“Totally reminds you of a guy you met in the other world who played guitar, was in a band, and helped prove you didn't destroy all the decorations for a big dance, so you could still run for princess of the big dance, and then asked you to dance at that dance?! [big breath] Right?” Lemon Zest said.
“How did you know that?” Sunset asked.
“Just a hunch!” she answered.
They just shrugged it off and went on their way.
