//------------------------------// // The Height of a Haunting Part 2 // Story: The Ancient Guardians // by autobotfan15 //------------------------------// Cozy Glow fluttered down the trail hearing nothing but the breeze and the crickets at night. She knew if there was something magical here, she would find it. Of course she would have to be mindful of the time which is why she had a watch in her saddlebag. She knows in a few hours she would have to lower the moon and raise the sun. She went down the trail until she saw something, a small wooden structure. Upon closer inspection it was an old outhouse, but then she noticed a scroll attached to it. She took looked at it and tried to read the crude writing. She read it aloud. "Always watches...No eyes? What is this? Some kind of prank?" She took the paper thinking it was a clue only to suddenly hear something. It sounded like a loud thundering booming sound. It was almost like a drum of some kind. She looked around nervously, but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. She shook off her fear and continued down the trail. She continued fluttering on, but then saw a large tree that had another scroll on it. This one had a crude drawing of a tall white pony in a black suit and tie along with some trees. She shrugged and took it off before continuing on. She would eventually see what looked like an abandoned carriage. She couldn't find anything inside but she did find another scroll on the side. She took it before reading it. "Don't look...Or it takes you?" She then heard not only the booming sound but now a strange groaning sound. It almost sounded like groaning metal. Once again she couldn't find out which way was it coming from. But as she looked around she thought she saw something move behind one of the trees. "Hey! Who goes there?" She tried to get closer to it but for some reason she had a strange ominous feeling inside. It was almost like some big predator was about to pounce on her. She started backing away and focusing more on the trail. "Silly me, must've been an animal." She said nervously. She flew on until she saw not one but two more scrolls attached to a boulder. One just had another drawing of the strange pony with the word 'No' written multiple times and the other had a small but simple message that Cozy read. "Can't run? Ok whose messing with me?" She then heard a new sound along with the previous two she heard. It sounded like the wind was picking up but she couldn't feel it. She then had that ominous feeling again followed by a feeling of slight nauseous. She looked around and saw something moving in the distance. She shined her horn and there standing on the trail was a tall white stallion wearing a suit and tie. His cutie mark looked like a circle with an x on it. But the scariest part was his face or rather a lack of. He had no eyes and a mouth. She assumed he also had no nostrils on his nose. What was more bizarre she notices strange appendages protruding from his back. Cozy plucked up whatever courage she had left and charged towards him ignoring the sickening feeling inside her. "Ah ha! So you're the last source of magic! Well it's all mine now!" She tried to fire a beam of magic at him but for some reason her magic felt weak and as she got closer the bad feeling inside her got worst and she fell to the ground. She looked up to see the tall pony moving closer to her. His tentacles stretching from behind him. Using what strength she had left she flew away. As soon as she got far enough she immediately felt better and regained her strength. "Ok so fighting it is out of the question, for now at least. Maybe there's more to these pages if I find more." She said to herself. She flew on hoping whoever this mysterious being is won't chase her. Little did she know she was still being pursued by the tall faceless pony.
