//------------------------------// // Chapter 2 // Story: Search for the Past (Rewritten) // by The Dude //------------------------------// Rising Sun's hooves ached as he kept walking through the desert. This was due to a combination of the baking temperatures of the sand, dehydration, and the fact that he had been walking through this desert for what seemed like centuries. He had tried to keep himself cool by any means possible, but the sun had proved to powerful, making him sweat and feel sticky. Sun took a glance over at his companion with envy. Whatever it was it seemed that it didn't understand the concept of hydration. It didn't sestickiem that the heat was a problem for this creature. Sun turned away from the creature and looked forward. He was trying to take is mind of his aching hooves and the extreme heat but it seemed as if his mind wasn't strong enough to distract him from both. All he could do was keep walking and try to keep the sun out of his eyes. Suddenly he felt his companion stop dead in its tracks. Sun looked back and saw the tall figure standing still, eyes shot straight forward as if it were looking at something. "What is it?" Asked Sun. He got no vocal response, instead the creature raised his arm and pointed straight ahead. Sun turned his head to where the creature was. As soon as he saw what he was pointing at his eyes shot up in a combination of astonishment and happiness. In the distance was what looked like several very small buildings from very far away. You honestly couldn't make out any detail of any kind but you could tell they were buildings. Sun looked back at his companion,"Lets go." The creature nodded its head. Sun then proceeded to sprint as fast as he could toward the distant group of buildings. The buildings came closer and closer as Rising Sun's hooves picked up speed. As soon as he entered the abandoned town his hooves came to a stop. He looked around the town, for something that could slay his powerful hunger or quench is thirst. But all he saw were abandoned buildings, from a time very long ago. The buildings were all broken, holes in the wood, broken windows, they looked as if they were about to crumble. They were also set up very strange, they all went strange on either side and then closed up, sort of like a culdesac. But for Sun these things were hard to notice, he was looking for anything that could help him stay alive But while scanning the town he noticed something, something that looked like a small pump sticking out of the ground in the middle of the street. Immediately Rising Sun ran to and began pushing the pump's lever up and down, hoping a bit of water would fall out. "Come on you son of a bit...." His pleading was silenced by a small bit of water falling out of the pump, forcing a sigh of relief out of him. Sun put his lips to the end of the pump and began drinking, while simultaneously pumping the water. He kept drinking until he was practically choking, but he didn't care, he hadn't drinken any pure water that wasn't from a cactus for celestia knows how long. It felt good drinking water, he could feel it moistening his bones and insides, like oil being put inside a car. After Sun had his fill of water, he got up and wiped his lips with his hooves. He turned around to see his trusty companion standing just a few feet behind him. "Alright" Said Sun, breathing a bit heavy,"i'm going to scavenge around the town and look for food, and something to carry a good amount of water. And if I see any corpses i'll bring them to you okay?" The creature nodded its head. Sun turned away from the monster and looked for any buildings that would have any thing worth taking. He looked around until he saw a run down looking place with the sign "BAR" on a sign that was hanging off its hinges on the front of the building. "Alright stay here." The creature nodded. Sun trotted up to the building and trotted inside. As Sun walked into the bar he looked around to see what this building had to offer. It looked like your standard bar, a counter, liquor bottles behind it, and tables that were surrounded by bar stools. Sun kept looking around the bar, scavenging for something useful. He walked passed the broken bar stools up to the counter. He set his hooves onto the counter and looked at the selection of fine alcohols on display. Most of the bottles on the shelves had either been broken, or actually empty. There were very few bottles which were actually intact or still full. Sun pulled his hooves off the wooden bar counter. But as his hooves jumped off the counter he noticed how....clean the counter looked. Instead of broken down and covered in dust as you would expect a bar counter in an abandoned town in an apocalyptic Equestria, this counter looked as if it were wiped down only a few days ago. Sun turned around and looked more closely around the bar. Everything just looked much cleaner than they should have been. Besides the broken bar stools this place this place actually looked very clean, all of the tables looked as if they had been wiped down and even the stools which were broken looked clean. This sudden realization made this bar seem......off. Gaining this new information made Sun looked around the bar a little more closely. After re looking at the broken stools a bit more closely Sun turned his eyes towards the ceiling of the bar. There was a little cut out square in the ceiling, and usually holes in ceilings lead to somewhere. Sun walked towards the suspicious ceiling square until he was right under it. He pulled out is sword and lightly poked the ceiling and pushed the square up a bit. Suddenly as he let his sword fall the square suddenly collapsed. Sun instinctually jumped to the side, promptly dodging a ladder that fell from the ceiling square. Sun walked around the ladder and peeked to what world the square led too. All he saw was brown lined ceiling. Sun decided this was not enough for him, and decided to explore more. Sun began climbing up the ladder and entering the strange world of the ceiling square. As he entered what seemed like an extra floor to the bar he looked around, most of it were boxes, just boxes stacked on top of each other. Again like the bar everything seemed to be surprisingly clean, the boxes were stacked on each other in an orderly fashion and everything seemed dusted. Before Sun could think about this a sudden noise entered the room, just a small creak, only heard because it was so quiet. Sun only payed a millisecond of attention to the noise, eyes quickly darting around the room wondering what caused the noise, but after that millisecond he saw nothing, just him and the boxes. He slowly started walking around the room, his eyes filled with the sight of the worn down floors and brown boxes in this room. But suddenly, instead of boxes he saw just a small dark corner in the room, with the only thing making it signifigant was a dark blue sleeping bag. It seemed so out of place. Sun slowly creeped up on the sleeping bag to try to investigate it further. It was a dark blue sleeping bag, very worn out. It had a couple of small holes and looked very worn down. But what was more interesting than the sleeping bag was what was next to it. Lying down right next to the sleeping bag, was a small black picture frame with a slightly torn up picture inside. He couldn't look at the picture for very long before being hit square in the face. Sun was sent flying back as he landed on his on his back. He look up for a couple seconds to try and figure out what happened. All he could see was a bat floating in the middle of the room being suddenly dropped on the floor. He heard two steps come closer right before Sun unmistakably felt a hoof collide with his face and not only knock him back, but falling back into the entrance to this room on the floor. Sun fell through the hole back onto the first floor on the bar. He landed straight on his back on one of the only non broken stools, breaking it under his weight and turning it just like the other stools. Sun began groaning, rolling over trying to stand up. As soon as he was able to stand up, he immediately drew his sword. He also tried to think of what was attacking him. Then it hit him, it looked like nothing was hitting him, but from the large pain radiating from his side and his back aching he knew that was not true. He began holding his sword while slowly walking around the bar. He heard a slight sound behind him, he quickly turned around to see a chair floating directly in front of him, being swung. He quickly sliced the chair in half and jumped back. The chair he chopped up quickly fell to the floor. Sun quickly ran and jumped up on one of the bar tables. He cautiously began looking around the bar, for any more dangerous floating objects. Even though he saw none, he still kept his guard up. Sun quickly felt his table defense quickly falling over onto the floor. Sun had jumped off the table before it fell over and ran towards the bar counter. Sun quickly launched himself over the bar counter and held his back against the wall of liquor. He kept looking around hoping to spot any more floating objects trying to kill him. He quickly turned to his right, just in time to see a bottle floating in the air and being smashed against the counter. Sun quickly slashed his sword forward towards the bottle. The world seemed to stop for a second, as soon as he finished slicing a long stream of blood starting pouring out, hitting the walls and staining the broken bottles. Suddenly the floating bottle fell and crashed on the floor. After the bottle broke, something began making sounds in front of Sun, whatever was bleeding was making horrible gargling noises. Something started appearing in front of him, it wasn't visible, but just big camouflaged outline began appearing and stumbling around. Than the camouflaged figure stopped stumbling and fell backwards, and began slightly flickering. After a bit of flickering suddenly small bits of something started appearing, a hoof here and another there. Finally everything faded, and what lied in front of Sun was the corpse of a bloodied stallion. Sun slowly trotted over to the body to analyze what he had just killed. Its fur was dark blue, its mane was black and messy. He wore big rimmed glasses, which had a slight crack on them. Upon seeing this, Sun sighed. The bar's door was kicked through, followed by Sun dragging a body with him. He dragged it across the hard wood, followed by sounds of the body's head bumping against the wood. He dragged out of the bar and onto the dirt streets. His companion was standing in the middle of the town, just standing there wide eyed. Finally after dragging the dead body through the dirt Sun finally reached his friend and dropped the body right in front of him. "Is that enough for you to hold out on?" The creature simply nodded its head. Sun then turned around and walked back to the bar, accompanied by a symphony of crunching bones and tearing flesh. Sun climbed back up into the upper level of the bar, and quickly located what he was looking at. He trotted over to the worn down sleeping bag and picked up the small picture frame. It was a picture of two ponies together, one dark blue with his hoof around the other, which was a green mare with a blue mane. They both looked happy together, and the stallion in the picture looked very similar, but much younger in the photo. Sun set the photo down and sighed,"Ah fuck." Alright, so basically I have become very very lazy. Like super freaking lazy. I've been like kinda working on this for a bit, but most of the time not. idk, i might not keep writing or keep writing depending if people really like this story idk. So hope this chapter is at least decent, tell me how to improve it, and also if you want more.
