Road To Recovery

It was nearly a year since her last visit to Equestria. Since then she and her friends have been very busy. With the increased school work and closing dimensional rifts, their leisure time was severely reduced.

With the hope of learning how to control her powers better, Twilight stood in front of the school statue. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Sunset asked.

"I'm sure since it's my fault for causing these rifts." Everybody began to state how it was no big deal or how they didn't mind helping. "I appreciate what you're trying to do, everything you've done since I transferred here."

"This is our last year and I just want to spend as much time as I can with everyone. If the other Twilight can help then it's worth a shot," Twilight finished.

"We understand" — placing a hand on Twilight's shoulder — "we'll be here when you return. Although, if you do get lonely I'm sure the other Twilight wouldn't care if you wrote us," Sunset said.

Tears began to well up as she hugged them back. "Wish me luck," Twilight whispered before breaking away. The sound of her friends became silent as she entered the portal. The endless swirls of color subsided as she come out the other side.

Twilight, now a pony, began to wobble on her hind legs. "I got you," Twilight Sparkle calmly said. As Twilight got to her hooves she felt the telekinetic grip around her dissipate. Welcome back to Equestria," Twilight Sparkle greeted.

"Welcome back to Equestria Twilight," Spike greeted while coming down the stairs. After returning the greeting both Twilight began conversing amongst themselves. "Hey Twilight —" they both replied "— I was thinking how it's confusing since you're both Twilight," Spike added.

"If you like you can call me Sci Twi, my friends do," Sci Twi replied.

"Sci Twi, that's a nice nickname. Certainly better than what Rainbow Dash gave me," Twilight commented. Sci Twi could feel the tendrils of curiosity nipping at her mind. Without considering if the name was humiliating or unwanted, she asked what it was.

Her face scrunched up as she said the words egg head. Spike's snickering caused Twilight to giggle as well. Sci Twi, having been teased before, didn't find it as funny. Noticing this, Twilight remarked how it was better than rainbow crash.

Despite herself, Sci Twi snickered at the name. The trio shared a laugh before Twilight remembered the purpose of her visit. After a proper tour of the castle, they reached the training room.

As the door opened a midnight blue alicorn came into view. Without realizing it, Sci Twi approached the alicorn. Stopping a couple of feet away, she called out her name. At first, nothing seemed to happen.

Before she could call again, Luna opened her eyes. "You must be the other Twilight my sister and I heard about. My name is indeed Luna but I'm not a "vice-principal."

"My apology but you reminded me so much of Luna from my dimension," Sci Twi replied.

"There's no need to apologize," Luna assured. "When Twilight learned of your arrival she asked me to assist in your training. SciTwi nervously rubbed the back of her neck. The silence was only broken by a low growl.

"I was so nervous I forgot breakfast," an embarrassed Sci Twi admitted.

"Then we'll discuss it after breakfast," Twilight interjected. They arrived at the dining room after a short walk.

As the three mares walked to the nearest table, Spike rushed off to the counter. He quickly returned with a pen and notebook. "So what would everypony want?" Spike asked. Both Twilight and Luna knew what they wanted.

"You wouldn't be able to cook an omelet would you?" Sci Twi asked when Spike looked at her.

"I sure can, did you want anything on it?" Spike replied. With her breakfast request, Spike hurried to the kitchen. Sci Twi remained quiet except when asked a question. She merely wanted to observe Luna and see what kind of pony she was.

After breakfast, the four of them returned to the training room. Stopping in the middle of the room, Luna turned to face Sci Twi. "Twilight has informed me you're able to utilize levitation and telekinesis."

"I've also been informed you were able to steal equestrian magic," Luna finished. Her stern tone sent Sci Twi into a panic. She hysterically began to explain but was interrupted. A gust of wind rushed past her head as Luna's wings wrapped around her.

"It's alright, everypony makes mistakes," Luna said. The soothing tone was more than Sci Twi could bear as tears started to pour from her eyes. Wrapping her front legs around Luna's neck Sci Twi began sobbing onto her shoulder.

"Let it all out," Luna whispered while gently placing a hoof against her cheek. After a couple of minutes, Sci Twi stepped several feet away.

"I'm sorry for suddenly hugging you... and crying on you," Sci Twi croaked. With a warm smile, Luna assured her it was ok. Still embarrassed Sci Twi returned the gesture.

"While I'm glad you feel better, I am curious why you hugged me." Sci Twi's cheeks flushed red as she explained.

"The Luna from your dimension sounds very special," Luna remarked.

"It's more than that," Sci Twi corrected. "When she hugs me I feel so warm, like nothing could hurt me." Sci Twi's expression dropped as she continued, "It's what I'd imagine a mother's love feels like."

While Twilight and Spike gasped in horror, Luna stood still. "I'm sorry to hear your parents are no longer with you1. I also know the pain of losing your parents," Luna lamented.

"It wasn't that bad, thanks to my brother I was taken care of," Sci Twi nervously explained.

"Be that as it may, the loss of your parents at such a young age must have been very difficult," Luna replied.

"Yea but with everyone supporting me I know I'll never be alone," Sci Twi declared.
