A Glowing Release From A Not-So Cozy Prison

A Cozy New Family

I stretched my back; an audible crack being heard. I rubbed the sleepiness out of my eyes with my right hoof, looking around the royal bedroom in the Crystal Palace. It was brighter than I remember from yesterday, I guess I haven’t spent much time in the Palace though, I looked to my side and Cadence wasn’t there. I saw a note where she laid though. “Sorry Chryssi! Princess stuff!” I could hear her giggle even if those words were written. “Watch Flurry and Cozy while I’m gone! Thank you!” She left a doodle of her and I at the bottom of the note, it resembled that of a child’s scribbles. I smirked and put the note down. I walked down to the room of our children, creaking the door open to see Flurry Heart laying down, by herself…

A look of shock came across my face. How did she even get out of here so quietly? I didn’t hear the door creak open or anything. I walked around the room, looking for Cozy Glow, I checked under the bed, in the closet, even under the pile of bright, disgusting toys Cadence had bought for Flurry Heart. I opened the closet and Cozy Glow came out, jumping on top of me. “Well golly mom! I didn’t expect you to be awake so soon! I promise I was gonna come out sooner or later! Well, you found me now! Other mom left right?” She exclaimed those words in her high-pitched voice.

“Yes, Cadence left for her duties. I am required to take care of you now.” I groaned.

“Wow, Mom! Golly! I sure do hope that I do nothing bad to get on your nervesss!” She fluttered her eyelashes at me with those words, clearly trying to taunt me. “I’ll go wake up my NEW sister!!” Cozy Glow quickly flew to Flurry Heart and tapped her on the shoulder, then did it again, and again, and again.

All up until Flurry Heart stretched and yawned; it’s been a while since I’ve seen her. I was stone for years and it appeared as if Flurry Heart was Cozy Glow’s age now. It was a strange change from what I was used to. “H-H-“ She looked at Cozy Glow and then paused, a look of shock crawling across her face. “C-COZY GLOW!? I-I THOUGHT MOM J-JUST WANTED TO REFORM YOU CHRYSALIS!” She yelled those words. She had an amount of distain in her tone when saying both of our names.

Cozy Glow flew above Flurry Heart and had a big cheeky smile on her face. “Well golly! I thought my brand new sister would like me more!” She put a frown on her own face. “I guess not though… You’ll never like me, huh?” She pouted and looked away from Flurry Heart, I felt a little bad for her… Wait, what do I mean I felt bad for her. I SHOULD NOT FEEL BAD FOR A LITTLE FILLY! THIS ISN’T ME. Why do I feel like this?

Flurry Heart looked upset and looke7d down at the bottom of her mattress. “Fine… Sorry Cozy. I’ll try to accept you from now on.” She muttered those words under her breath.

Cozy had a cheeky grin scrawled across her face then hugged Flurry Heart. “Oh golly! Thank you, sis! I’ll appreciate this moment forevverr!” She looked Flurry Heart right in her eyes. Until I pulled Cozy Glow off of her and held her in my hooves.

“I’m going to make sure YOU don’t try to fool around, especially in this royal palace.” I jeered at her.

“Oh golly! This is no way for a mother to treat her child! Don’t you think mom…?” She smirked at me, her eyes attempting to pierce my own.

I sighed. “I suppose you’re right, why don’t we do something together.” Both of their ears jumped up as if they were a pair of puppies. “What do you… Children… Like doing exactly…?” Cozy Glow and Flurry Heart stared up at me with their big, beady eyes. It was almost like I was staring into an abyss. “I need an answer, not a glare.” I demanded from them.

“Oh, golly mom! I don’t think how we have fun with you should be our responsibility! You’re the one taking care of us! Shouldn’t you know what we like?” She asked.

“TAKE THE CROWN BACK FROM THORAX AND MAKE ME INTO THE RIGHTFUL LEADER OF THE CHANGELING KINGDOM AGAIN!?” I sounded rather… Excited saying those words, it seems Flurry heart didn’t appreciate them though as she looked angry.

“Chrysalis! H-Haven’t you been reformed or something!? D-Don’t make me tell mom that you said this!” Cozy Glow and I sighed at Flurry Heart’s hisses.

Cozy Glow nudged Flurry Heart on the shoulder. “Oh golly, I guess you don’t want us to have fun sis! It’s a shame… I was really looking forward to doing something with our new mom… I guess Flurry doesn’t care how we feel though.” Cozy Glow did her puppy eyes routine to Flurry Heart.

Flurry Heart let out an audible sigh. “Even if I do let you go then we’d all be in trouble with my mom!” Flurry Heart argued.

“W-What do you mean your mom s-sis? She’s o-our mom now… Do you not see it like that…?” Cozy Glow sobbed those words, Flurry Heart was having none of it.

“I don’t care if she’s ‘our’ mom I don’t and will never see her that way!” She shouted, I glared at her and stomped up to her.

“What do you not see in me that Cadence sees.” I questioned.

“I know you! You fillynapped me! From what I know you could be trying to fool my mom!” She yelled.

“What d-“ Flurry Heart cut Cozy Glow off before she could finish her sentence.

“Oh, I don’t wanna hear from you! You both are evil! I don’t even wanna be near either of you! I don’t know what you guys would do! Just go away and never talk to me or my mom!” She yelled those words then launched us out of the room with magic.

I felt anger building up in my soul, but then I levitated a stress ball towards me and started squeezing it with my hooves, making Cozy Glow giggle. “Golly! Do you seriously have one of those? Let me guess, mom got you it?” I glared at her.

“You have no right to get an answer, stay quiet.” I scolded her.

“Awwe! But mommm! You just answered me with those words! Golly! Wouldn’t’ve been better to not say anything mom?” I glared at her, not saying a word. “Yeah! Like that exactly mom! Golly you’re getting good at that!” We stayed in silence, the only sounds that were heard were the sounds of my stress ball squishing between my hooves. Cozy Glow stared, it seems her thoughts of teasing me about it left, and she just intently stared at the ball being squeezed between my hooves. “When did she get you that mom?” Cozy Glow asked that.

“I thought it was embarrassing for a former villain to own a stress ball.” I said.

“Well… I’m still interested! Can I not be interested in what my moms do together?” She asked.

“I shot a hole in the castle’s bedroom, then Cadence and I went to a flea market, and she got me this… It helps.” I murmured those last words. Then Cozy Glow stared at the ball between my hooves.

“Golly, can I have one of those? I think it’d help me too, mom!” She said.

“I thought these were embarrassing, you went from being interested to wanting one yourself.” I sneered.

“Moomm! Let me have itt!!” She started whining and trying to reach the ball being squeezed between my hooves. I naturally lifted it away from her, she started flying to reach me, so I did the same.

It hit me, then I hoofed her the ball. “Feel it, it’s nice isn’t it.” I mumbled.

Cozy Glow squished the ball between her pink hooves, looking intrigued with its texture. “Wow… This does help!” She then threw the ball at the wall and tried to stomp on it, she fell flat on her butt though.

I was shocked but then something came upon me, I galloped to Cozy and sat next to her. “Are you okay?” I asked. Cozy looked up at me, looking a bit surprised as she did so.

“I-I’m Okay!” She stood on her hooves and went “Hmph!”, looking away from me. The only sound filling the castle corridor was the sound of Cozy squishing the stress ball under her hoof.

I stared at the ball as it was squished. “Me and Cadence can get one for you… If you wish, of course.” I blurted, it’s like I wasn’t thinking… I wasn’t thinking normally. It felt… Different.

Cozy stared up at me, “Ya can? Oh, golly gee mom! Thank you!” She exclaimed. I looked at her, then at the door of the room we forcefully exited, then looked back.

“I can get one for you, Cozy.” I looked back at the door and stood up. I knocked on it. “Flurry.” I said, trying to adopt a stern tone.

“I DON’T WANNA HEAR FROM YOU OR THAT PINK TRAITOR! Y-YOU GUYS ARE EVIL!” She yelled through the door, Cozy tried to step up, but I put a hoof in front of her to stop her.

“Please, let us in. Hear me out.” I looked down at Cozy, something was genuine in her. I could tell. I sighed. “Give us at least a few minutes to discuss, please Flurry.” I uttered those words softer than I’ve said any others.

I heard hooves brushing against the soft carpet, the door opened to Flurry with dried tear streams down her eyes. “I can’t believe my mom loves someone like… L-Like you!” She screamed. “You both are monsters! I-I hate you both!” She tried slamming the door, but I put my hoof between the door and the doorframe.

“Listen to me.” She glared at me as I said those words. “I’m an expert in love, I barely know how it works. I don’t know why your mother decided to love me. It must have been hard when her and Shining Armor split.” She nodded at my words.

Cozy walked up to Flurry, standing at her height. “Golly, I don’t know why I’m doin’ this. It feels weird.” Tears stained her pink coat. Like she experienced something that she needed. “I was stuck for years, so was mom. Being deemed unredeemable by princesses ain’t exactly easy.” She sighed. Then suddenly hugged Flurry. “I know this doesn’t make up… Golly I donno what I can do that could redeem me. But I’m sorry Fl-, I’m sorry sis. I hope I can find a family in you and our moms.” I saw Cozy cry in her sister’s hooves, Flurry hugged her back and cried with her.

I looked at them and sat down, hugging them both, squeezing them in my embrace. “I’m sorry too Flurry. I hope I can be a good mother to you both. I hope I can make everything up to you both and Cadence.” This… This wasn’t me. I don’t know what’s coming over me. I… I don’t know if this is normal? Is this? I can’t believe this. “Your mother is a miracle worker.” I mumbled through my tears.

The feint sound of hooves clicking against the floor of the castle halls was heard. Cadence walked up to us. “I’m guessing you all got along?” She chuckled then hugged us all. “Flurry.” She whispered.

Flurry looked up at her. “Wh-What mom?” She murmured.

“Did you finally get along with them?” Flurry nodded and Cadence stroked the back of my head. “You little lovebug, A few years ago I couldn’t imagine you being like this!” She exclaimed in her cheery voice. It always made me happy when I heard it.

“I never expected to love you, Cady.” I sniffled.

Cadence then looked down at Cozy. “Well, Welcome to the family! Everyone here will be always here for you! Your sister, and of course, your mothers. We all love you, Cozy Glow.”

Cozy looked up at her, then me, then looked back at Flurry. I started seeing her cry her eyes out. “TH-THANK YOU!!” She said, we chuckled and hugged her collectively. I could get used to being a mother and a wife.
