Cold Hearted Defeat Epilogue

Celestia finished reading the letter from Cadence. She smiled as she knew that Cadence and Shining Armor will do a far better job at running the now thriving Crystal empire. To her that wasn't the most important thing at this moment as her attention now faced her student in the throne room. Twilight Sparkle looked down in shame. She could still hear Sombra's taunting in her head. "You're Highness I'm so sorry. Everything happened so fast and I didn't plan ahead-"

But before she could say more, her mentor was by her side with her wing wrapped around her in an embrace.
"Twilight stop. Don't blame yourself for what happened. I'm the one who should be sorry. I had too much confidence in you and thought you and your friends would succeed."

"But still we almost went to war with innocent slaves. If I had done everything right then-"

"Nopony can expect somethings to happen and sometimes I keep forgetting you're still young. You have nothing to be sorry for but if I were to score this mission I would say you passed."

Twilight was confused. "How?"

"Because if it wasn't for your capture I never would've reunited with an old friend. One that I've considered a brother almost."

“So Fafnir was an old friend of yours?”

Celestia looked up deep in thought. “He was the son to the Tribe’s leader at that time. Even when they were going carnivorous he kept himself from hurting me or my family. But then one day it was discovered his tribe ate a pony who was also a diplomat at the time. When word of this act spread it was decided that the wendigos would be exiled for their crimes to the frozen north. If I was the ruler and not a child then I would’ve done more to help them. But now that I know they’re alive I can help them.”

She then looked down to her student with a warm smile.”And I want you to assist me in this endeavor.”

Twilight thought for a moment and smiled with determination. “I will. Just one last question. What happened to Sombra?”

Celestia smiled sheepishly. “Let’s just say the spell I placed on him should keep him alive but in the event of death his body will slowly painfully pull him back together minus his horn of course.”

Twilight looked up in confusion and horror. “Why would you do that?”

“To make him pay for his crime but also to help the Wendigos control their carnivorous behavior. Don’t worry I’ll put him in a dungeon when the time comes.”

Sombra woke up smelling something. “Hey what’s cooking?”

He looked down and found his body tied to a wooden stake above a fire. “ME!?”

“Tonight we feast on victory!” Yelled Fafnir to his tribe.

Throughout the night in the forest came the screaming of the once powerful king. A hooded figure watched from the distance as he opened a portal with his horn. “Revenge is a dish served cold but Justice is a meal served warm and best shared with friends.”

He walked in and closed the portal.
