Alice's POV
"Come on...Come on, just a give me...Yes!" I exclaimed with joy for my victory while sitting on my bed.
Hello everybody, my name is Alice Brown, I'm sixteen years old, I have a long black hair, light green eye color and I'm using glasses, I wear a bluejean with a pink shirt, currently I'm studying on the secondary, I practice karate, judo and I'm a big fan of monster hunter. Right now I was playing on my portable console and my character was wearing an armor set made of my favorite monster, Zinogre, who has one of the best themes of the franchise, I just have finished a hunt that took me 30 minutes when suddenly I heard a familiar voice that called my attention.
"Did you finish already sis?" said the voice of my little sisterbehind me at the direction of my bedroom's door.
"Yes, sorry for keep you waiting." I replied to my sister as I turn to see her.
My little sister, May Brown, is a nine years old girl who is on her third grade on primary school, sha has similiar traits as me, just that she has her hair fixed with a pair of pigtails, she at this moment was wearing a white dress with the image of a blue pegasus on the chest. May is a huge fan of the mythical My little pony friendship is magic, honestly I have mixed opinions about it with that show, May always make me to watch it with her, I do admitted that it has interesting episodes but there was other that were...'Meh', in reality it never catch me.
"Come on Alice, were are going to be late!" said May excited.
"Alright I'm coming." I replied to her as I stand off my bed.
According to my sister, there was going to be a my little pony friendship is magic's convention, bronycon as it called, close to our home, since May is a fan of the show, she got to conviced our parents for I to take her there, I didn't mind much since I'm neutral with the show and it won't affect me. Before we leave our house I contacted our parents who weren't at home at that time and were working as I told them that we were about to go to the convention, after that I took my bag prepared with everything and of course, my console in case I want to play a hunt there, we left our home as we were on the way of that convention.
"I heard that the creator of the show, along side with some of the voice actor will be there at the convention, I'm so excited to meet them there!" exclaimed May with joy jumping around me.
"I see, you remember me to certain character of the show...What was her name?...Rainbow?" I said smiling to May.
"Is Pinkie pie Alice, Pinkie Pie is the one jumps." said May a little upset with what I said, she takes the show very seriously.
"Sorry is that I haven't watch the show in a while." I replied laughing a bit.
"When we get back home, we will going to watch an entire marathon together, in that way you won't forget about it." said May to me pointing her finger at me with an imposing tone.
"Yeah yeah, we watch it together, don't woory." I replied laughing a bit to her with a calm tone as I patted her head.
"I think that you will be too tired when we come back home to even watch an episode." I thought smiling to May.
"Let's go sis, I don't wanna miss anything." said May excited to me.
"Alright let's go." I replied to May.
When we left our house, we simple go the convention walking, it was not so far from our home so we can go on foot, we even passed a familiar river where I with some friends from school used to throw stones to the water. When we reached to the convention I couldn't believe the huge amount of people that was there, I even spotted a pair of my friends from the secondary that I never suspect that they were fans of the show, May on the other hand was marveled with all the marketing of the show.
Later on, after the event was over, May and I were walking back home carrying some bags with the the stuff that I bought, of course it was with our parents money that they left to us for this day. On the way we stop at the river because I though that it could be a good place to call our parents and tell to them that we were on the way home, meanwhile May was playing at the river's shore as she was throwing stones to the water while I was talking with our mother.
"Yes mom, we are on the way home...Yes I watched May to not eat to many candies...Oh yeah we bought some gifts for you guys, May chose a pink pony for dad..." I said to my mom as I laughed as I heard my mom at the phone laughing as well.
While I was talking with mom, May come back to me excited as she was holding something in her hand.
"Look Alice, look what I found at the shore!" said May with joy, showing to me what she was holding.
"We will be home soon mom, I call you in a while..." I said to my mom as I hang up the call and turn to May. "What is May?" Iooking to what my sister was holding.
"Is a wishing stone, is really pretty right?" said May smiling to me showing me an oval stone with seven colors an what it looks to be a horn or an antler mark on it.
"Well, is a very pretty stone that you found Mat, but, wishing stone?" I said to my sister.
"That's right, if you make a wish to it, it will become true." replied May to me.
"What imagination that you have, May." I said to May.
"Is true, it really grant wishes, Alice." replied May to me a bot upset.
"Really?" I said following her game.
"Yes, it will grant our wishes." replied May holding proud it the stone.
"Oh well, in that case..." I said as I get closer to the stone. " If this stone can grant wishes, then I wish that you and I to spend a year in the world of Monster hunter." I said smiling.
"Then I wish that after that we go together to live in Equestria from My little pony friendship is magic." said May to the stone.
"Why My little pony?" I asked to May.
"Because I like My little pony, besides you chose that world of your game, right?" said May to me.
"Yeah yeah, well let's go home ok?" I said to my sister who nods in replied to me.
However, at the moment when my sister and I were about to leave the place to continue on our way home, suddenly, the stone that May was holding in her hand began to shine with a bright light calling our attention.
"Huh?" said May looking to the shining stone on her palm.
"But wha the...May throw that thing away!" I exclaimed exalted with what was happening.
May obeyed and throw that crazy stone but out nowhere something incredible happened, the stone began to stopped it way in the middle of the air and was floating in front of us, not so long after that, a vortex with multiple light colors resembling a rainbow began to appear from the stone that was increasing in size at an accelerated way with each passing second, then the vortex began to suck us in, at that moment I throw everything that I was carrying to firmly hold my sister with my arms.
"May don't move away from me!" I exclaimed worried, embracing my sister close to me as I was covering her with my body.
"Sis!" exclaimed May afraid while she was holding me with all her strenght.
At this moments I try my best to move away from the vortex's force while proctecting my sister with all my will, but everything was in vain, the vortex was too big already as the attraction force that it has was way too much for me that it even lift us from the ground as we both end up absorbed by that vortex, at those moments my mind was turning black and barely I heard the voice of May calling my name.
Hours later...
Alice's POV
"Ugh...My head..." I grumble with my eyes still closed feeling a severe headache.
I don't know whate happened at that time, maybe it all a dream, yes that it was just that, I can heard the chirps of the birds as I feel the sunlight touching my face, I also noticed the cool and hard ground, maybe I just fell out my bed during my sleep.
"I better stand up and go to brush my teeth." I thought while trying to get up.
However, at that time I feel that something was wrong, my body feels weird and also have a light weight on my head, I tried to get up standing on my feet but as soon as I did it, not so long my body lost balance and I fell to the ground but luckily I reacted quickly using my arms to cushion my fall avoiding hitting my face with the ground, just at that I opened my eyes and take a look to my surroundings.
"What the hell?..." I said shocked with I have infront of me.
I noticed a beautiful landscape, mountains, rivers and dense forest, I can see birds flying away as I hear their chirps from the distance, it seems that I was on a mountain's cliff, at that moment I noticed it better, this place was very familiar to me, it was like Misty peaks from Monster hunter third but that's impossible, there's no way that I could be in such place. At that moment I look down to the ground and I got astonished with what I saw, besides the fact that I was on a ground surface, I noticed that my hands were no longer humans...They look more like claws.
"What?!..." I exclamed as I check my body. "I-it can't be!" I shouted now noticing the big changed of my body.
It was not only my hands, as I turn around to see the rest of my body, I can confirm that I was not a human anymore, my body was covered by black and grey scales with a white fur, I'm now quadruped as I noticed the form of my legs, that could explain why I couldn't stay much standing on my two feet a while ago, I even have a long tail, by this point I recognized what I was now.
"I'am a Stygian...Zinogre? But how this is possible? I-" I said worried but at that time I was interrupted by a very familiar voice that called my attention.
"Alice...Sis stop making noise...I want to sleep..." said the voice of my sleepy sister behind me.
"Huh?..." I said, I was too focused on myself that I didn't noticed that I wasn't alone. "May? I'm so glad that you are ok, did you-Eh?!" I exclaimed perplexed when I turned to where my sister was.
Where my sister was supposed to be, instead of her, there at my back was a zinogre, a zinogre's pup to be more exact, it was small, it's claws weren't half longer than mine, the horns were still little, it was...So adorable, I never expected to see a zinogre this young, well I saw a baby one on Monster hunter stories, but looking one at this close was way different. I was overtaked by the emotions that I forgot the fact that this pup of zinogre might be my little sister, I camed down as I try too wake up this zinogre.
"Hey..." I said moving my claw and gently pushing the pup's body. "May? Wake up, there's no time to sleep." I said rising my voice tone.
"Let me...Sleep..." replied May still sleepy as she snuggles on the ground.
"Yep, this is my sister, she is this lazy when I have to wake her up for school on the mornings." I thought smiling after confirmed that this little zinogre is May.
"I don't have other choice..." I said as I sigh, then I come closer to her face. "May, your friend Michelle come today and I gave to her all your ponies." I said with a mischievous smile on my face to May.
"MICHELLE THOSE PONIES ARE MINE!" shouted a upset May as she crashes her her head against my face, it was like if I have injected adrenaline to her.
"Ouch! Like always, nothing beats your passion for the ponies, aren't you?" I said rubbing the place where I got hit.
"Huh?..." said May as she now noticed that I was infront of her. "Wha-wha-what the?! Noooo!" exclaimed May terrified of my presence.
"Wait May I-" I said as I tried to calm down my sister but I was interrupted.
"No stay away!..." exclaimed May as she turns around and tries to stand up on her feet. "Ahhhh!..." shouted May as she got hit on the face with the ground, she quickly turns on her back to see me. "Do-do-don't eat me!" begged May afraid with tears.
"Calm down May, is me Alice, I ain't going to eat you." I said to May reassuring her as she calms.
"That voice...Alice? Is that you?" asked May now more relaxed as I nod to her. "But what happened to you?" asked May to me.
"I don't know, but I'm not the only one who got changed." I said pointing my claw to her.
"Huh?..." said May now noticing the changes on her body. "But what is this?!" exclaimed May, getting upset again as she looked at her arms.
"May calm down, I know that this is sudden but-" I try to calm my sister but I was interrupted.
"Calm down? Look at me! What happened to me?!" exclaimed me May to me.
"Wait May don't get upset and let me-" I said to May but again I was interrupted.
"No! Tell me what happened to me?! You did this did you? Why you did this to me?!" shouted May upset to me, but now she was trembling with tears coming from her eyes.
"Oh...May." I said feeling bad for my sister as I decided to get closer to her.
"No! Stay away!..." exclaimed May as I move my right claw behind her holding her from her back as get close to me. "Don't touch me! You are horrible!..." shouted May struggling as I lie on the ground as I embrace her in a hug. "No! Let me go!...I...I...Waaaahhh!" exclaimed May as she break down in tears and snuggles her face against my chest as she cries.
May always acts like this at home, trying to be tough at her worst, when this happen I always catch her in a hug even if she didn't want it until she cried her heart out while holding on tight to me as she began to be honest with me, this time was no different until she finally calm down.
"Do you feel better now?" I asked to my sister looking down to her as she nods to me.
"Aha...A-Alice? What I said before, I am very sorry.” May said apologizing to me.
"Hey is okay May, what is important is that we are together and I won't leave you alone, understood?" I told smiling to my little sister who smiles nodding.
"But... what happened to us, sis?" May asked me.
"Well...I don't know, but it seems we were turned into zinogres." I told to May.
"Zino-what?" asks May puzzled.
"Zinogres, also called Jinougas, they are monsters of the fang wyvern species from Monster hunter's game ." I explained to May.
"Fang wyverns? Wait, did you said Monster hunter, is not that the game that you play?" asked May to me.
"That's right, they are the most cooler wyverns of the ga-" I was saying but I suddenly stopped as I noticed a very important detail and I noticed that May also was thinking the same.
"The wishing stone!" May and I exclaimed as the same time.
"But I thought that was something that you made out playing." I said to May.
"Same here, I never thought that it was real." replied May to me.
"Well is very real missy, ugh, if we have know that it was a real magic stone we could have wished something better than this." I said to my sister.
"But why did wished to come to this place like this?" asked May to me looking at her paw.
"Well, I thought that it could have been cool living epic adventures like in Monster hunter, but I believe that I should been more specific." I said to May looking to my own right claw.
"And what are we going to do now, Alice?" asked May to me a little worry in her tone.
"For now..." I said leaving May on the ground. " I think that is better to leave this place, it looks like that we are at the best spot right now, in this cliff we are exposed to the flying wyverns." I said to May as I look up to the sky, watching over if there could be something flying that could come after us, luckily we were safe.
"Flying wyverns?" asked May puzzled to me.
"I tell you about everything later, for now let's get down from this place." I told to May as I turn around to the path that could lead us to go down this mountain.
"Ok..." I heard May said. "Ah!" exclaimed May as I turn to look at her and noticed that she was lying on the ground.
"Are you ok May?" I asked worry about her as come closer to May.
"No...Is difficult to walk on four legs." replied May upset looking down to her paws.
"Well I didn't try to walk much on four legs either, hehehe." I though smiling while looking at May.
"In that case, what about if I give you a ride?" I suggest to May as I walk to her and lie at her side.
"Thanks sis." replied May with a better mood.
May then crawled on the ground to my body until she mounts my back and holds to me, shortly after I stand up and began walking, just like May, I'm not used to this body yet to walk on four lgs properly, so while I get use to it I better keep a slow pace with my steps while we went down the mountain to that wooded forest that I saw before.
Some time later...
As soon as we got in the forest, I told May that we should avoid the open trails that we found along the way, while we were walking I got used to this walk on all fours so I could go at a bit more faster pace than before while May still roding my on back. While we continued in the search for a shelter, I began to explain to May how the things are in this world along with the dangers that we must avoid and be careful with our surroundings, in the first place there were the flying wyverns like the Rathian and Rathalos, I have told to her how dangerous this pair can be for us so we must avoid being in the sight of the wyvern couple. On land we already have other problems, like the brute wyverns, in wooded places like these there are usually only 2 types, the Glavenus, a brute wyvern that has a sharp blade for a tail and the infamous Deviljho but what we have to take care of the most are the hunters, if they see us, they will send a team to hunt us down and we wouldn't have any chance if that happens.
While I was explaining all this to May, we passed near a stream and there was a group of garwas immersed in their own business and they didn't notice our presence among the trees, the garwas are like a union between a duck, an ostrich and a kiwi, they are quite dimwitted and do not realize the presence of a predator until it is too late. When I saw them I noticed that I was not a full adult stygian zinogre as I thought, I was taller than an adult garwa, maybe now more than 2 meters and a half tall, I think I was as tall as a great Baggi, which means that May would be the size of a kelbi in comparison, which puts things more at risk for us. When I was looking at the group of garwas, I thought that I probably will have to hunt some since I was now a predator, I don't know what to think about it, but I must protect my little sister before anything else.
We abandoned the stream, leaving the garwas behind while we continued in the search of a good refuge, on the way I could hear the slight noises of my little sister's stomach asking for food, I told her to wait a little longer, after finding a safe place where we could stay, I would go get something to eat, although May probably won't like what I could bring. After searching for a certain time, we finally manage to found a good shelter where we could live, a cave which was located in a bamboo forest next to several tall trees, from the outside it seemed big and deep enough for both of us, even if we continue to growing, It was in a closed place so other wyverns like the flying ones couldn't come and on top of that it was close to the stream, there couldn't be a better place to stay than this one.
"Seems safe." I said watching from outside the cave.
“Do we have to live in a cave? Isn't there a better place?" said May a bit worry from my back.
"I'm sorry May, but there is no other place for us, this is the safest thing at the moment." I told to May.
"Okay...Alice?" May asked to me.
"Yes?" I said to my sister.
"I'm hungry." said May to me with a downcast tone.
"Okay, I'll go to find something to eat, while you stay in the cave, don't go out no matter until I come back, okay?" I told to May.
"Whatever you say, Alice." May said to me, which I feel her nod from behind my back.
Little by little, May goes down my back until she reaches my tail, then she carefully comes down from me and tries to walk until she is next to me and continuing her way to the entrance of the cave. However, both my sister and I heard a growl coming from the cave, May stopped walking abruptly and began to go back until she reached my side, in that moment, from inside the cave began to emerge the familiar figure of a blue bear walking on four legs, an arzuros who was living inside this cave. He didn't seem very big, in fact he's short compared to me, or so I thought until the arzuros, noticed the presence of intruders, upon seeing us he got up on his hind legs and launched a loud roar against us, when he stood on his 2 legs I realized that he was bigger than me.
I wasted no time in acting and when I turned to look at my sister as I noticed that she was trembling with fear, clearly I couldn't give it importance and wasted time so I quickly moved my body and with my mouth I grabbed May from her back and turned around to flee from the site, maybe it was the adrenaline or the instincts but without realizing it I began to run naturally as I moved away from the arzuros. Clearly this bear would not leave us alone, I could hear its growls as it was chasing us through the bamboo forest.
Unfortunately, I was getting tired of running, it must be because of the hunger I felt unlike our pursuer who seemed to be ready for a marathon as we moved away from the bamboo forest. Inevitably, the arzuros ended up reaching me and it hits my left leg with its claw, causing me to stumble and fall to the ground, but in order to get May away from the arzuros, before my fall I throw May back and she fell on the ground about 5 meters away against a rock wall from where I was, it was at that moment that I realized that we had left the bamboo forest and now we were close to a crag, a little more and we would have fallen to our death. The arzuros then directed his attention to me as he stood up on his hind legs in front of me raising his paws, letting out a roar at what seemed to be about to slash at me, but something interrupted him.
"Alice!" May exclaimed worriedly as she got up on her feet.
Both the arzuros and I turned to May, the arzuros have already stopped it attack and seemed more interested in May, when I realized the bear's intention I yelled at May.
"May! Run!" I exclaimed shocked to my sister.
The arzuros then begins to trot in May's direction, my sister in response tries to backtrack to flee but she was very slow and without even getting used to walking she would end up tripping and the arzuros would end up catching up with her right away. At that moment I felt a strong rage inside me when I saw how this bear was going to attack my defenseless sister, to which I got up and with all my strength ran against the arzuros, the blue bear being close enough to May, it stands up raising its left claw with the intention of hitting May, but a moment before that I pounced on him and captured his left arm with my jaws, preventing him from attacking May.
With my enemy's arm trapped, I began to move backwards, dragging the arzuros with me. He was waving his arm angrily while he hit my face with his other paw to make me let go. I was getting quite irritated so I thought for a moment and It occurred to me to use my tail as a point of pressure against the ground, followed by this, I started to stand on my hind legs and with all my strength as I was slowly lifting the arzuros, it was there that I applied my karate throw at the bear and threw my enemy over me to my back to which it hits its body on the ground as it rolls on it, at the same moment I crouched exhausted on the ground, suddenly, I heard the desperated cry of the arzuros as I listened to it fading, it was there that I turned to my back where the arzuros fell, I realized that I ended up throwing it off the crag to its doom.
"Wow...I never thought that I would end up winning my first turf war like this." I thought surprised as I gasped looking in the direction where the arzuros had fallen, followed by this, I fell to the ground tired.
"Alice!..." May exclaimed to what I heard her come closer with me. "Are you okay? That ugly bear didn't hurt you right?" May said worry now standing to the side of my face while she put her paws on me, I could see the tears on my little sister's face.
"I'm fine May, I'm just a little tired that's all." I told to May while I laughed a little.
"Dummy! Don't do it again!" May yelled at me angry as I leaned her body over my head and burst into tears.
“Is okay May, I said it before right? I never leave you alone." I said as I stroked May's back with my right claw to calm her down.
We stayed like that on the ground just for a short while, as I have told to May before, being exposed to the open field is very dangerous, so we decided to return to the bamboo forest. Again and although I was exhausted while carrying May on my back, I was walking back to the place of our cave, is our now since its previous owner will not be able to return anymore, after entering the cave and checking that there was no one I decided to rest for a while to recover strength while May lay down next to me.
After a well deserved rest, I told to May to hide while I was looking for something for us to eat, she obeyed me and hides inside the cave to which I go out in search of food. On the way I only had a single thought in mind: garwas, they are slow and careless, even if they noticed my presence I could reach one at a mere trot, I managed to reach the stream from before and luckily there were still garwas there in their own affairs as I was hiding behind bushes and trees.
I prepared myself for this, I got in position and as soon as I was ready I came out of hiding place running at the direction of my prey, I pounced on a garwa, easily knocking it to the ground while holding it with my claws and the weight of my body, it will not be able to escape from me. The other garwas after realizing about my presence, they began to fled, leaving their bounded partner behind. I didn't want to drag this out any longer, so like a lion, or in this case, a lioness, I brought my jaw closer to the garwa's neck and squeezed it with the intention of suffocating him, however I did not measure my own strength and I ended up breaking its neck.
Some time later I returned to our cave while carefully dragging my dejected prey, hoping that no other predator noticed my presence and what I was carrying with me or that something might have come to the cave while I was gone. Upon arriving in front of the cave, I released my prey at the entrance to what I called my little sister to come out, to my relief she was still safe and sound when I saw her come out of the cave and she looked at me with joy, of course that was until she saw the liveless body of the garwa that I brought on the ground.
"Alice? What is this?" asked May, surprised to see the body of the garwa.
“Well… Our food.” I responded May by looking in another direction a bit uncomfortable.
“But this is…” said May to me which she couldn't continue while looking at the garwa.
"Yeah I know..." I replied to her as I turned to May. “Listen May, we are fang wyverns now and like any other wyvern or…Predator…We hunt preys and eat its meat.” I said explaining to May what our situation was now.
"But...Are you sure we can eat this?" May asked to me unsured and I don't blame her.
"Well in that case, then..." I said, looking at the garwa doubtfully. "Let me taste it first." I told to May as I crouched down near the garwa.
I nervously observed the lifeless body of the garwa while I slowly brought my head closer to the side of the bird, closed my eyes and opened my mouth to what I bit into its body and pulled, tearing off a piece of meat with feathers and began to chew it until swallowing it, after a few seconds I opened my eyes shocked.
"So...how is it?" May asked looking at me worried.
"This is..." I thought looking at the garwa to which I returned to take another bite and consume her meat.
"It's good! ..." I exclaimed delighted. “You have to try it May.” I said to my sister as give it another bite to the garwa.
"Now I understand why no matter how hard I hit them, well unless I broke some part of the zinogres I hunted in the game, they wouldn't stop eating the garwa, they're delicious!" I thought in delighted as I ate.
May on the other hand looked doubtfully at the garwa in silence while I devoured it, she didn't know what to think or do, but the growling of her stomach demanded that she do something about it. May then gulps worried, she approached to the garwa and also gave it a taste, It didn't took too long for her to receive the same reaction as I as May what also begins to eat the garwa delighted, at this rate I thought about going to catch another garwa for us.
When we finished with our food, only the garwa carcass was left with the parts that we obviously aren't going eat, after this we went back in the cave to take a nap as I lied on the ground, May then approached to me and snuggled to my right side.
"Alice?" May said to me as I turn to see her, noticing an anguish on her face.
"Yes? Is something wrong May?" I asked to May worry about her.
"Do you...Do you think that one day...We be able to go back with mom and dad?" May asked me with her puppy dog eyes.
"May... I..." I said trying to think of something, but given our situation, it's best not to give my little sister false hopes, no matter how much it hurts me. "Honestly... I don't know, but I can promise you that I'll do everything possible to keep you safe and be at your side, okay?" I said smiling to May bringing my face closer to her.
"I-I understand...Alice?...I love you very much." May said to me with a few tears on her face as she came more closer to me.
"I love you too May." I replied to my sister to which I move my tail over May to cover her and cling more to her.
And that was how our lives as monsters in a hostile world began.
