//------------------------------// // Chapter I // Story: We're Done // by TheKing2001 //------------------------------// I gulped as we looked out at the massive crowd. We were supposed to be doing a comedy act tonight to help Pinkie win some prize or something. I never did well with massive crowds like this. Sure, I helped Trixie and all but this was different than that. Trixie only got about fifty or so ponies. There was easily more than a thousand out there. “Wow that’s busier than I expected,” Rainbow admitted as she peered above my head. “How about you go first Starlight?” I let out a nervous laugh at that. “You’re funny,” I leveled a flat stare at her. “You’re always so confident. Why don’t you go first?” Now it was Rainbows turn to laugh. “I would but I’m uh sick. Sick of standing here,” Rainbow chuckled. “Rarity. You go! You like all the attention of ponies anyway.” Rarity gave her a glare. “What does that mean darling?” Rarity asked indignantly. Rainbow scoffed and rolled her eyes. “It means you’re a drama queen and an attention seeker.” “And ya ain’t one?” Applejack asked in her normal drawl with a smirk. “Yur the biggest attention seeker I know.” “Fine. I would suggest Fluttershy go but we all know she is too scared,” Dash sighed. She turned around and Fluttershy was clinging onto her mane, shaking in fear. She always scared of everything except animals. She understood them more than ponies. Must be nice to be able to talk to animals. I would be able to easily tell the spider in my room to leave and never come back. I hated spiders with a burning passion. “It would take some pony a lot of guts to take them on,” my coltfriend Spike peeked under me out into the crowd. We had been dating for some time and it was probably the happiest I’ve ever been. A lot of ponies at first thought it was weird we were dating and I thought it was kinda weird when he admitted he liked me at first mainly due to my age. Then I founs out he was my age because of how fast dragons aged. I’m only twenty six and i feel old. Ponies in town don’t even cast a glance at us now thankfully. Rarity and Rainbow Dash made eye contact and nodded. “Not some pony. Some creature,” Rarity grinned along with Rainbow. I instantly caught on and we all walked to him. He can go and win Pinkie whatever it was she wanted. He gulped and I levitated him up with my magic and placed him on the stage. “Quick! Get him something to entertain them with!” Rainbow said. I quickly levitated some bowling pins into his claws. “So uhm how do you all feel about juggling?” Spike asked with a shaky voice as his entire frame was shaking. I tilted my head to the side in slight concern. I’ve never seen him act this way before. “You guys think we might have made a mistake?” I hesitantly asked. “He doesn’t look okay.” Rainbow was rolling around laughing on the floor. “He’s fine! He does public speaking all the time. Doesn’t he look funny!” Rainbow burst out laughing again. Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie joined in laughing and I just watched as he dropped a pin and everypony in the audience laughed. I had a weird feeling something bad would happen tonight. ------------------------------------------------------------- “That was funny Spike!” Rainbow giggled as we started walking through town to the castle. Apparently the others wanted to hang out and such inside since Twilight was off on a quick three day trip to Canterlot. “You looked absolutely ridiculous!” The rainbow maned pegasus giggled to herself. Spike said nothing and just kept walking. That wasn’t like him either. He typically talked all the time. Plus, most of the time we went out places he opted to ride on my back but tonight he chose to walk. Once you’ve been with a pony or dragon in my case, you pick up on the little things. “Spike?” I asked as I leaned in to nuzzle him. To my shock, he leaned away from it and kept walking forward. Now that was even weirder and just confirmed something actually was wrong. Spike never turned down affection from me, no matter the situation. Me and Applejack looked at each other, both of us wearing the same concerned and confused expression on our faces. Apparently she picked up on what I was feeling too. She was good like that. Scarily good in all honesty. “Sugarcube?” Applejack touched him with a hoof and he slapped it away to all of our shock, especially Rarity. “Whatever is the matter darling?” Rarity asked. Spike spun around and glared at us. I took a shocked hesitant step back at the angry and hurt expression on his face. He honestly looked like he was about to cry which made me even more concerned. “You all should know!” Spike fumed. “I was humiliated out there for your entertainment! They were all laughing at me. Hell, you all were laughing at me. You guys did that intentionally for your amusement!” I stepped forward nervously. “Spike we never meant to hurt you. We just weren’t thinking,” I tried to plead with him. Looks like my feelings of something bad going to happen and that he was acting off out there were right. “Bullshit. You knew exactly what you were doing when you levitated me out there!” My Spike never swore, no matter how angry he was. I didn’t know how serious he was until he said that. “We really didn’t sugarcube,” Applejack tried to convince him and he glared at her with such an intensity she faltered and stayed quiet, taking a step back and bumping into Dash who had been watching quietly with a confused look on her face. “We’re not friends anymore,” Spike announced as he glared at them. They all let out a gasp and stared at him. “B-but why?” Fluttershy whimpered as Applejack hugged her. “You know why. I just told you. Don’t interact with me again,” Spike grumbled as he climbed the castle stairs and opened the door. “Oh and Starlight?” “Yes love?” I asked nervously. “We’re done.” He slammed the door shut and I heard it lock. I felt my ears flatten against my head as my heart broke into a million pieces. I could feel the tears threatening to escape as I played those words over in my head. I had never wanted to hear him say those words but here we are. I hurt him somehow way more than I realized. “W-what just happened?” Pinkie asked as her mane flattened and she lost a bit of her bright pink color. “Ah don’t know sugarcube. Ah don’t know.”
