Last time the second day of the grand festival was going strong. Our hero and her rivals made it to the battle stage and after so many battles it came down to the four of them. Turquoise and selena gave the crowd quite a show with their battle and Esmeralda made very quick work of Emma. Now the final battle of the grand festival is coming up. Who will win? Will Turquoise walk away with her second grand festival cup or will Esmeralda ultimately swipe victory from her hands?
Turquoise was in the back psyching herself up for this battle.
“This is it after coming so far, after hitting some road blocks along the way it's time to win this,” Turquoise said to herself.
“Keep telling yourself that but it will be me who goes home with the cup,” Esmeralda said. Sometime later it was now time for the final battle of the grand festival. Both girls were now facing each other down before Julian appeared.
“And now ladies and gentlemen it's time for the final match of the grand festival. On my left is Esmeralda and on my right is Turquoise. Five minutes on the clock. Go, “Julian said before the clock started.
“Espeon and Altaria let’s Dazzle them, “Turquoise said before throwing her pokeballs which unleashed a bunch of multicolored stars and white smoke which Espeon and Altaria appeared out of.
“Meowscarada and Salazzle Rrrrazzle them,” Esmeralda said as she threw her pokeballs which unleashed a bunch of pink and purple flower petals with Meowscarada and Salazzle in them.
“Altaria use MoonBlast and Espeon use Swift. Altaria fired her Moonblast while Espeon’s swift spun around it. Esmeralda looked somewhat impressed but not entirely.
“Not bad but can it beat this? Meowscarada use Energy Ball and Salazzle use Fire Lash. Meowscarada fired a green ball of energy and Salazzle volleyed it with a flaming tail slap that sped it up and covered it in fire. The two moves pushed against each other until they both exploded but Turquoise’s combination had a hidden surprise as indicated by the swift raining down and damaging Meowscarada and Salazzle.
Turquoise:90%
Esmeralda: 75%
“I will admit that was good, you just might be the challenge I've been looking for,” Esmeralda said.
“Thanks but I still got more for you,” Turquoise said.
“Then bring it on, Meowscarada use Flower Trick and Salazzle use Poison Gas. Salazzle unleashed a very big cloud of purple gas that was meant to blind Altaria and Espeon so Meowscarada could nail them with the exploding bouquet.
“Espeon ride Altaria and get out of there,” Turquoise said as Espeon got onto Altaria and the two of them flew above the gas unaffected by it as the exploding bouquet was seen where they used to be.
Esmeralda: 50%
“Predictable, Salazzle use Dragon Pulse on Altaria and Meowscarada use Dark Pulse. The two moves combined and created a sphere of energy with multiple black rings around it. Esmeralda was sure her combination would work until Turquoise gave the order for Altaria and Espeon to dodge which they did with Espeon jumping up and Altaria going down which resulted in the attack to ultimately miss.
Esmeralda: 25%
“Why won’t you stay still?” Esmeralda said, slightly losing her composure.
“Because I'm winning this,” Turquoise said, acting like she already won. “I will admit your combinations and choice of moves are quite elegant and dazzling, but that alone is not enough to win a contest. You also have to gracefully dodge and know when the time to strike comes.
“I do that too, “Esmeralda said as the clock reached the three minute mark.
“Then let's see it. Espeon use Psybeam and Altaria use Dragon Breath. Altaria unleashed her blue fire which spun around the Psybeam that was heading for Salazzle and Meowscarada.
“Dodge that,” Esmeralda said as both Salazzle and Meowscarada tried to. Meowscarada was able to dodge but Salazzle on the other hand was unable to and took the full force of the attack. Surprisingly Salazzle survived but that hit caused Esmeralda big time.
Esmeralda: 5%
“Meowscarada use Dark Pulse. Meowscarada took advantage of the timing and managed to nail Altaria with a powerful Dark Pulse that sent her falling and caused her to faint and the judges to hit their buzzers.
“And that sneak attack just cost Turquoise a lot of points, “Julian said as turquoise’s points went down a lot and the clock reached the one minute mark.
Turquoise: 45%
“That was a dirty trick,” Fluttershy said.
“Well what do you expect, Esmeralda is hanging on by a thread so she is switching her tactics to wiping out Turquoise’s pokemon,” Selena said.
“But can Espeon survive a two on one battle on her own?” Emma asked.
“She can and Turquoise knows that as well. Look,” Selena said referring to how Turquoise looked completely calm despite losing Altaria.
“You're right, she looks ready for the finale,” Fluttershy said.
“Now this is what I came to see. Turquoise and Espeon standing together,” Turquoise’s mom said before snapping a picture.
“I will admit you gave me a challenge but now both of us are on the edge, “Esmeralda said as the clock reached the thirty second mark.
“Your right and with less than thirty seconds left this last exchange will decide the match,” Turquoise said.
“Then let's do it. Meowscarada use Dark Pulse and Salazzle use Poison Gas. Sallazle covered the stage in a huge cloud of poison gas which was intended to block Espeon's field of vision so Dark pulse could hit.
“Dodge it Espeon. Espeon heard Turquoise’s words and listened for the Dark Pulse. The crowd was eating up this final exchange of moves and were eagerly awaiting to see how it ends. The explosion from the Dark Pulse caused the gas to clear up and when it did the clock reached zero and Espeon looked undamaged meaning she successfully avoided the dark pulse.
“And it looks like the winner of this year’s Grand Festival is Turquoise,” Julian said as Turquoise’s picture appeared on the jumbotron.
“Return Meowscarada and Salazzle, “Esmeralda said as she recalled them and approached Turquoise. “I must admit you're quite skilled but you must tell me how could Espeon dodge that last attack?
“Simple because I have faith in my partner even if we can’t see each other,” Turquoise said.
“Faith in your partner huh guess I need to work on that too,” Esmeralda said. After a friendly handshake it was time for the award ceremony.
“And now Mister Contesta will present Turquoise with the ribbon cup,” Julian said before he did.
“Congratulations on winning once again Turquoise,” Contesta said as if he knew she won before.
“Thank you,” Turquoise said as her mom took many pictures.
Sometime later a banquet was being held in celebration for another successful grand festival. Turquoise and her friends were talking.
“So Turquoise what’s next for you now that you won your second Ribbon cup?” Selena asked.
“Now Fluttershy and I are heading for mt. Silver for the Silver Conference,” Turquoise said.
“That is quite a distance you two will be walking,” Emma said.
“We know but this time we have two months to get there so we are not worried,” Turquoise said. “What about you two? What plans do you have?”
“Well I'm returning to Sinnoh, I believe it is now time for me to take on the Sinnoh Grand Festival, “Selena said.
“And as for me,” I’m going to take a break from contests to get better and then I'm off to Kanto for the Kanto contest circuit,” Emma said.
“I wish you two the best of luck,” Turquoise said.
“You too Turquoise,” Selena said. As Turquoise was on her way to the room for the night she saw Esmeralda leaving and went after her.
“Where are you off to Esmeralda?” Turquoise asked.
“What you told me about having faith in your partner got me thinking and you are right,” Esmeralda said. “I was so focused on making all of our moves so polished and appealing that I forgot about what is important so I'm going home to Paldea to reclaim my treasure.
“Your treasure?” Turquoise asked.
“What is most important to me,” Esmeralda clarified since she knew Turquoise would not understand since she was not from Paldea like she was.
“Oh,” Turquoise said. “Well I wish you the best of luck.
“And you too on your future endeavors,” Esmeralda said before leaving. Suddenly the girls came up to her.
“What was that all about?” Selena asked.
“About someone who wants to reclaim her lost treasure,” Turquoise said to everyone’s confusion. “I’ll tell you on the way to our room. The girls were now in their room but could not sleep so they decided to talk some more.
“Tell us Turquoise, do you have any plans for where you will go next?” Emma asked.
“What do you mean? I already told you I'm going to Mt.Silver,” Turquoise said.
“She means after that, where will you go once the Silver Conference is over?” Selena asked.
“To be honest I don’t know, “Turquoise said before continuing. “After my last journey ended I was not certain on where I wanted to go until ho-oh gave me that Rainbow Wing.
“And I came here because I wanted to learn more about breeding,” Fluttershy said.
“Then how did the two of you meet up again?” Selena asked.
“That was an interesting story,” Turquoise said before telling it. “I just arrived in Johto and was on my way to Cherrygrove City when I fell into a pit trap courtesy of Isabelle and Chris of Team Supernova. They even had the brains to take my Espeon before I could call her out.
“And that’s where I came in,” Fluttershy said before sharing her side. “Cinderace and I were in the nearby forest picking berries for our journey when we heard a couple of familiar voices. We went to investigate when we heard they trapped Turquoise and stole her Espeon. We acted and after beating them we decided to travel together.
“So cool,” Emma said.
“Speaking of team Supernova, do you think Lance and the G-men will catch them once and for all?” Selena asked.
“That we won’t know but I do have a feeling our paths will cross again in the near future,” Turquoise said.
Meanwhile at the Team Supernova HQ in Lilycove City Jessie looked upset after seeing the replay of Turquoise’s victory in the Grand Festival.
“I can’t believe the new Twerpette won, if that were me facing her I would have kicked her Espeon to the curve in no time, “Jessie said.
“Maybe you would have but keep in mind she is not your target. Isabelle and Chris are the ones who are obsessed with her, Just like how we were with our Twerps and Twerpettes, " James said.
“You're right James, maybe I can’t deal with her but I can train someone who can,” Jessie said, formulating her own plan which involved training Isabelle to beat Turquoise on her own stage.
The next day everyone went their separate ways and turquoise’s mom agreed to bring the ribbon cup back home with her so Turquoise would not have to haul it around everywhere.
“Good luck on the rest of your journey,” Mom said before sailing off. Suddenly the ferry back to Olivine City pulled in.
“Looks like it's our turn to get going,” Fluttershy said.
“Yeah,” Turquoise said before she, Fluttershy and the rest of the people boarding got on. As soon as the ferry was a good distance away Turquoise pointed two fingers at the island. “So long Candina Island and thanks for the memories.
Meanwhile in Snowpoint City Rarity and Applejack were watching the Johto grand festival in the Pokemon Center.
“That Turquoise, She always knows how to surprise everyone,” Applejack said.
“She sure does darling, but this Esmeralda girl sure knows how to put on a good show with how dazzling her moves are, “Rarity said. Suddenly after seeing Esmeralda take advantage of the interval between attacks her opinion of Esmeralda changed. “Now there was nothing graceful or clean about that at all.
“I know that was down right dirty,” Applejack said before continuing. “But there is nothing in the rules against it in a contest or a battle.
“Well now let's see how Turquoise handles this,” Rarity said. As soon as the final move was made Rarity was surprised by how turquoise managed to dodge it and win.
“Looks like Turquoise won,” Applejack said.
“She sure did and in a stunning way too, “Rarity said. And so the conclusion of the grand festival generated a lot of buzz across the world. What kind of adventures await our heroes next? Find out as the journey continues.
