//------------------------------// // Freezeflame Galaxy // Story: Super Pinkie Galaxy // by uniquecorn //------------------------------// A meeting occurred within the books of the Comet Observatory’s library. It wasn’t booked by the space princess, but rather by the friendship princess. The Spirits of Harmony agreed to arrive only to expect something that doesn’t waste crucial time. Hopefully, the Twilight Sparkle of theirs doesn’t plan to slow them down. “Glad everypony came down to join me. I’m going to discuss something that I think Stella should hear only later.” “This better be important, Twi. Anything relevant to this situation, we beg of you.” “Don’t worry, I’ll keep it as brief as possible, then Pinkie and Rarity could move to another galaxy.” Since last night, Twilight analyzed the storybook supposedly hoof-written by Stella herself. She studied every single detail article page by page. Admittedly, it was exhausting, but she managed to get it done early. The results she acquired were shocking and they completely changed everything she thought she knew about Equestria’s history. “By analyzing this entire book and its text, I proposed a theory.” “…A Game Theory!” Everypony turned their muzzles toward Pinkie wanting to question what she just said. She helped them avoid doing that by saying… “Don’t suspect anything.” “…Anyway, for now, I’ve classified this as a conspiracy. I assume it’s gotta be true, but…” “Can’t ya just spit it out already, Sugarcube? There ain’t no need for suspense.” Applejack knew she was being impatient, but her friend promised her it’ll be brief. Twilight gestured with her hoof to bring her friends closer. “My theory ended up being… Stella is the daughter of Celestia!” Ponies took aback with voiceless responses. That is, until RD and AJ exchanged glances, blew raspberries and laughed uncontrollably. Twi wasn’t worried, she knew that would happen because she had proof. “Well done, Twi. I didn’t know you could joke at a time like this!” “Who d’ya reckon is Luna then? Her aunt?” “Of course.” That response got their laughter gauge refueled and rolling on the floor, which caused Pinkie to also laugh hysterically because she wanted to. “Oh, I haven’t giggled this hard since starting this voyage.” “To start with, this is not Stella’s storybook, but more of her journal. Hence, the process of producing this space station and why the Lumas call her ‘Mama’.” That seemed to obstruct the couple’s laughing matter and caught everypony’s interest. For the record, they’ve perpetually thought the Mama thing was just natural. “But couldn’t they have been just mere coincidences, darling?” “You’re alright to assume that until Chapter 7 described Canterlot and a village below. Maybe the village is Ponyville?” In the second paragraph’s sentence after a colon of that chapter, ‘A castle upheld by the side of a mountain.’ Hints that seemed to suggest the story was nonfiction. “The mother described in the “young alicorn’s” dream was an ‘Endless white and a towering alicorn’. That’s clearly a description of Celestia. And lastly, near the end of that chapter were quotations: “My mother is watching from the sun and maybe my aunt is watching from the moon.” Not only did those excerpts imply that sun alicorn Celestia was a parent, but also that moon alicorn Luna had a niece. So was it plausible that Twilight’s theory was correct? It sure seemed likely. Now that everyone was aware of the situation, Princess Stella could not be forced to reveal anything. If the story's events were real, she must have felt that same grief for abandoning her home after several years and settling on protecting a new family. She may experience it again if the news spreads.  Nopony ever discusses this issue, ponies have indeed forgotten about this abandoned youngster, just as they have forgotten Nightmare Moon’s backstory. The princesses might not be familiar with this new alicorn, but with the information at their hooves, they would have plenty of opportunities to jog their memories. But for now, Pinkie and Rarity had to continue their expedition in the Bedroom. The friendship alicorn dismissed the meeting so that they could discover the next galaxy. “Freezeflame Galaxy is now accessible.” “Flame? That sounds dangerous.” “I don’t even operate well at any cold temperature without proper clothing.” “Oh? Then why don’t you check out this wardrobe we have on the side?” A tall elegant wardrobe with a violet coating. Rarity would fancy foraging the furniture for a few fabulous fabrics, but nopony got time for that. Fortunately, the furniture featured fur fabrics fitting for Freezeflame’s frost features. Fashionista fitted in an ice blue fur coat under her fur coat and fuchsia filly of fun donned a yellow jacket. When both ponies were fully dressed for the occasion, they were set for the pull star above. “Pull.” In the distance, there was a new galaxy within their sights, or at least a glimpse of it. That must be where they were supposed to go. “I can see snow, I can see lava. Hopefully, the first mission is a cool one.” “Especially since we’ve only just put this on.” And with that, the pair were sent off by an appearing launch star. Chances are, they might land on snow or ice to begin. The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr Right off the bat, they flew over some icy and spicy squares. Wonder if those will come into play later. Anyway, they also passed some flaming suns before coming to a stop on an ice torus. “Ooh, a cold planet and a slippery one too.” Pinkie commented as she almost fell off her hooves and Rarity nearly did the same. “We should’ve thought about ice skates for the occasion, Pinkie.” “Hey, ponies!” Voiced in a high-pitched voice was a penguin character from behind. When Rarity saw it, she was amazed at its body design. “My, my. Aren’t you just…um, dazzling? No, that doesn’t sound right…” “You gotta learn to skate around here.” “Without skates?” “If it helps, try twirling around to begin.” Well, Pinkie could certainly do that, she’s got her signature spin move. First, she tested it while standing still which resulted in her doing an endless pirouette like a ballerina. “Whoa!” She managed to stop herself. “Great, try and catch me.” The penguin spoke as it slid on its belly around the planet speedily. “Oh, it’s a chase.” Pinkie managed to get the skating to work, she spun once and the controls were up to her boots. Despite not having the power, Rarity managed to glissade on the rink. Some obstacles were rooted in the ice such as small stone cylinders and crystals that contained coins. They were served to slow the ponies down during the game of tag. The penguin could slip around the sides and slide upturned, but its speed never changed throughout. Pinkie with her skiing skills had the skill to accelerate and was able to catch up and catch it. “Gotcha.” Rarity carefully skated to a rock block so her hooves wouldn’t wander off on the ice. “Not bad. You’re a talented skater, almost as if you skated before.” “Why, thanks. I’ve been practicing every time it snows.” A launch star conveniently appeared on the stone stump Rarity stayed on to prevent slipping away. “How convenient.” Rarity went before Pinkie who gestured a valediction at the puffin. The mares’ took the path to the planet with a mountain, specifically on an icy slippery slide toward the mainland. It had two sets of 3 star bits resting upon it. “Whee!” Beyond the slide was some gliding on a ground of ice towards a triplet of shadowbolts wearing ice skates. They noticed the duo and began skating forward to attack. “I can pirouette on them like a wing chun dummy.” Pinkie swirled into a tornado and knocked out the string of three, each defeat awarding 3 star bits. The protagonists were able to use friction to slow down before diving into hypothermic water. Right was the way forward; might as well dive into two crystals for gold. A chasm separated the ice from a planked deck. The ice physics made the leap feel more difficult, but thankfully, the gap was not too large. After the wooden platform, there was another ice-layered platform, and leaping on it progressively revealed its skewing features. “I can feel it tilt a little bit.” “Me too, darling. I guess it’s a natural property of floating icebergs.” Pinkie and Rarity skated across the ice terrain, leaping over a gap onto a larger glacier. The magenta mare unintentionally leaped on the unwary shadowbolt, who had turned his back on his task. He didn't even get Pinkie's overshot bounce on him when she stopped herself before the drink. “Hey! To the world where defeated enemies went, keep your eyes on the prize!” Floating above the center spot of the platform existed a question mark coin. Rarity did the honors by jumping high to get it, spawning a couple of necklaces a couple of platforms away. “I assure you, Pinkie. That will give us a new ability.” “I’m gonna guess you’re right.” Left was the next turn, there were three smaller octagonal islands and just the first was topped with boards instead of permafrost. Those ice lands featured a new enemy: it’s blue, a levitating structure of polygons with white eyes and a blue vapor producing from the top like a volcano. “It looks like a rock and that hue of blue might’ve hinted that it’s too cold to touch.” “So what’s the mode of approach here, darling?” “Well, let me try the spin.” Pinkie bounced from the wood to the ice where the enemy was. Her dreidel move evaporated its coldness, leaving it stunned and vulnerable, the pony shortly kicked the black rock with her right forehoof which turned it into debris. “I didn’t even get to see what it does.” “Good, we don’t even want to see what it does.” Hop, skip, and a jump later, Pinkie and Rarity had reached the location of the new necklaces. En route, they similarly ambushed the other frosty minion to how they'd fought the former adversary. The rhombuses on both pendants are blue and decorated with an ice emblem. If they were to guess what they do, there could be several uses, especially in a cold world with cold water. “Ooh, how glamorous. Judging by the ice picture on it, these will give us ice powers, Pinkie Pie.” “Yeah, but what kind of ice powers?” “Well, what better way to see than clinging it on our cervix?” Pinkie and Rarity latched the locket over their necks and the effect surged immediately into their adrenaline, their coloring including the clothes changed to a texture similar to ice. “Wah ha ha! What happened to my body? It feels… actually, I was gonna say cold, but I don’t feel any change in my body temperature.” “Oh, I bet we can freeze the ocean with our icy hooves.” Just as Pinkie's hooves reached the waves' surface, some of the surface's moving molecules reinforced into a stationary hexagonal ice sheet. Led by Rarity, the horses skated to a question mark coin pedestalled on a water spout in the middle of positioned columns. Ice Pinkie reached for the bigger bit and discovered the geyser froze upon stood upon, followed by the agglomeration of jettons encircling the columns. “Wow! I literally couldn’t count that many.” “Me neither, but we are definitely getting richer from that big coin.” Rarity established as the couple skated around the rink and accumulated everything. Holy ice skates, that’s an eight-zero, four scores worth. Then, the two skated towards two parallel walls with 2 star bits along them. Pinkie saw that they had to wall jump, but she worried that her friend wouldn’t be able to. “Do you know how to wall jump, Rarity?” “I have no clue what that is, darling.” “Then get on me like a jetpack.” “What?” “Quickly!” Rarity shrugged off her thought about piggybacking as a grown mare and hooked her hooves on her friend’s knees and shoulders. Just as she did that, both mares’ necklaces suddenly fractured, reverted to their normal colors but still standing on a hexagon. The ponies looked back and noticed the path of them breaking away. “Oh gosh.” Pinkie immediately hopped off the ice and started wall-jumping hurriedly while nabbing the 2 star sweets. But at the top, they couldn’t rest since two shadowbolts awaited. “Get off!” The protagonists barely evaded their shove and nearly forced the foes off the edge, until the two friends prodded the enemies into the splash. “That was close.” “Those necklaces don’t last very long, huh? 24 whole seconds precisely.” Beyond the parallel walls were two crystals, one of them was empty and might as well play pinata with the other, 5 more rewarded star bits. A sling star flung Pinkie and Rarity into 3 candy comets and a higher section. In front of them looks like a wooden crate floating on an atoll, a yellow cube floats still over that crate. Pinkie alone climbed on it and suddenly felt it descending with her weight. She seemingly knew what to do to keep the box floating despite the fact she had encountered none before. “Oh, it’s gonna be one of these platforms, huh.” She simply continued hopping to keep the platform aloft and empty 20 star bits from the question mark cube. Pinkie's right had a lengthy iceberg while her left had two additional boxes, one of which had two more collars on it. Left seemed more right than right, so both mares converged and donned the pendants. Generosity and Laughter skated over the lake onto land, their snow queen abilities activated. Climbing two ledges revealed a rectangular prism of stone sliding in and out like in Buoy Base Galaxy. “That is the smoothest block of rock I’ve ever seen. Almost as if it’s not a block of rock.” Once the cuboid enlarged, it would be possible to leap over and then across a bridge of two drawers. A sling star remains after the Wipeout. From the slinger to two midair spigots. Fortunately, the ponies were prompted to freeze the sprays up the cliff. As their necklaces disintegrated into debris, no shame, a cold rocky body from a higher ledge launched cold rocks from its crown for collision on Pinkie and Rarity. They dived for cover behind a wooden wall that hid the targets from the projectiles. “He’s a boss, Rarity.” “Darling, I can see that.” If they wanted to beat the boss, they had better board its base. While Pinkie blinked behind the barricade, she beheld no bridge across the basin. Bet a brooch was based beyond this bottom base. There were two routes to take from behind the fence; left or right. But because there were two ponies, they didn't need to choose. “You go left, I go right.” “Right!” Two equines were running in different directions so that the frosty boss couldn't freeze both at once. Nonetheless, Pinkie and Rarity evaded the meteor shower while jumping planks and permafrost, the fashionista’s path had more gaps than the entertainer's. Pinkie’s course earned her two crystals of 2 coins while Rarity earned two necklaces of two ice abilities. Between the two ponies were bars like a jail cell. “Ooh, slip one through the bars." “Fine, Pinkie.” Pinkie grabbed the jewel and both were installed. They skated on the lake and around the ice wall to a vertical wall using their new ice formations. Rarity locked her joints as fluffy-maned ricocheted up betwixt two pennies. The sentient ice rock plummeted, smashing the snow to generate a ground-sweeper without jump restrictions. Pinkie spun just for intuition, its icy form thawed and dropped like one of its henchmen. From there, the pony whirled again against it to harm it. With 10 star bits given, it recovered for another round. “Well, since we’re still up here…” “We could probably beat it this round, like, immediately.” Right away, the boss came down again. After evading the ripple, Pinkie used the window to spin its power away, leaving it vulnerable to Rarity’s bucking abilities. By round’s fast conclusion, 10 more star bits and two mini minions emerged on crowned boss’s recovery. Easy it was, however, as all they had to do was to eliminate the underlings until the living rock descended again where both could avoid the shockwave and Pinkie spun twice to split it. The fight was over, the boss was slayed, and the final 10 star bits and the Power Star were presented. “That was a shockingly easy boss fight, so long as we stayed up here, we were fine.” “Well, thank the stars we could, otherwise I’d imagine how long it’d take to run around an obstacle course just to cross a cold moat.” With what they were after found in low degrees, Pinkie and Rarity soared back to the Comet Observatory, taking the five-pointed satellite juice with them. Rarity and Pinkie donned in cardigans have returned with success, seeing as a Power Star returned as well. The Bedroom already fitted two other ponies: Rainbow Dash and Applejack. “Did y’all hear the rumor? Or the “theory” she called it?” “Why, of course. The supposal that suggests Celestia had a daughter.” They still couldn't believe some conspiracy. A daughter alicorn who vanished from a narrative in Equestria might have been explained in an article, right? Nopony dared to enter Celestia's throne room and enquire, "Do you have kids?" to waste their time. It's also conceivable that after millennia, both alicorns' negligence is at work. Stella may not remember her mother and Celestia may not remember a foal. Curious whether they kept the information a secret from themselves to remain wise. “I still couldn’t fathom why we couldn’t tell her what we know. I mean, I think it should be appropriate that we say it sooner than later.” “That’s what I was thinking, Pinkie. We’ll regret not telling once she leaves to continue with no mother. I vote we find a good occasion to tell her before going to King Sombra’s main base.” “Hey, hopefully, we’ll have that opportunity. We gotta let y’all go for the next Power Star.” Pinkie and Rarity were still wearing their warm wearables while windborne with a pull star. They knew what to expect: a launch star magically appearing on them blasting them to that Freezeflame Galaxy again. Freezeflame’s Blistering Core Little did they know they made a mistake arriving here with hydrophobic bathrobes, they’ll see why in a moment. At first, it seemed to turn out fine with them on since they’ve lighted on the ice donut like last time. Next to their landing spot was a crystal with a star chip embedded. “Guess we should hunt for five of these.” “It should be pretty simple, there’s already four I can see, darling.” Pinkie leaned her neck forward and looked closer to notice that she had miscounted. “Rarity, one of these had a coin, not a star chip.” Indeed, the rightmost crystal had something yellow, but it was not what they needed. Her eyes must’ve deceived her just because she saw four yellow objects from afar. “Oh. I couldn’t have noticed that, but now I do.” Rarity shamed herself as she and Pinkie headed in different directions to extract everything on top and then the bottom, including the coins. The underside had more yellow, gold star points, 2 gold small coins and a large coin. Of course, the ponies had to check what the question mark bit does. When one of the two, specifically the pink one, laid a hoof on it, a string of star bits appeared around the planet. There were a lot of them. “Wow, you’re so fruitful.” “Sorry, but if I’m rewarded, I should accept it.” 28 star bits in her pockets. In the end, they depleted the planet's resources, forcing a launch star to form in the doughnut hole's core, accompanied by five pull stars. Pinkie and Rarity announced the first name of the blue object behind the launch star. Then, using the star-shaped ejector, they could fly to what seemed to be a spherical rock split in half like an uncooked egg. Unlike a raw egg, the vibrant and searing lava replaced the whites and yolks above and below. When the ponies set hoof, they learned that jackets perhaps weren't the appropriate apparel. “Oh no. Pinkie, I don’t think it’s appropriate to wear these around here.” “It’s like wearing a sauna suit in the middle of a heatwave, getting hot and heavy here and I’m sweaty already.” Pinkie compared as she zipped away her lemon blazer. “But, darling, we can’t leave Stella’s belongings away around here.” “You’re right, even though they only fit a young non-alicorn. Just stuff them in my tail, I have enough room to put stuff there.” Pinkie's fiddlestick strands are fantastic, initially for intuition and now for storage. Rarity pondered strangely but decided to doff her coat and throw it into her reciprocating friend's dark hole. Their flanks are still heated, but they tolerated to advance. They leaped across a little gap in the narrow bridge. A trio of fuzzy spiky spherical attackers appeared, saw the ponies and rolled over. “Um, what are they?” “I don’t know, but what I can tell is I can’t spin them away.” So Pinkie and Rarity devised to run between two of them and avoid contact altogether. The third was chilling under a gold box, getting the contents from the box may take some work, so they chose not to bother. “Yeah, I hope we don’t need them.” Instead, they climbed a couple of high steps where another was stalling for them. Around a shape of rock were a vertically barred wall and a question mark coin through it. The lonely wooden crate beside it Pinkie hoped would help was helpless, at least she got a bit out of it. “Maybe we can access it from behind, I can see some flooring beyond the coin.” To do what Rarity recommended, they must proceed through the four boxes, one of which contains 5 star pieces. They might as well empty the yellow box on the right for 20 of those after evading double the koosh balls. Upon depletion, they took the expected left path to a black pole. Pinkie and Rarity scooched their hooves up the pole, the pink mare snagging 6 star bits along the way. They escaped the pole onto ground, but the next detached platform sank as a hoof burdened it; it's worse with eight because it lowers quicker than it should. “Hey! One at a time, Rarity!” Pinkie scolded the unicorn as she quickly alighted to the other still platform to delay the block’s submerging speed, but Rarity felt the nerve to jump back. “Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize that was gonna sink.” “Nevermind, just be careful next time.” “Actually, I feel like I can wait here. Something about this arrow on the wall, I think there’s something behind it.” “Aw, come on, I didn’t mean to scold you.” “No, it’s not that. I just don’t feel like risking myself burning in the lava.” Just because she experienced standing on a wobbly wedge, she wobbled wobbling off and smoldering. Fair she played safe, unfair she backseated. Anyway, Pinkie Pie continued the parkour, she hopped onto a longer brick that sinks and had 2 star bits. She skipped the final gap to a rocky path, it had four scattered pom-poms and four sets of crates that she felt the need to crack open while avoiding the foes’ spikes. After 3 bits and 5 star bits comes one bigger coin, the question mark spawned a necklace uphill. So she galloped up the hill and dodged the spherical enemies to then turn left over a cliff where the pendant was. Looks like it’ll give a new ability, hence its red jewel with 2D fire embedded in it. “Oh, the classic power-up from the games.” While the reader is perplexed as to what 'games' Pinkie's referring to (or not), she knew what to do and promptly wore the jewelry. As a result, she was endowed with fire abilities and red hair. Her dominating hoof arced and magically created a fireball that bounced towards a fuzzy adversary, scorching into 6 star treats. “Yes! Burn!” Pinkie menacingly spoke with an inferno effect suited by the environment around her, not knowing she was on a timer. Then she realized what she uttered and how she uttered it. “Ahem. Think I got carried away, heh heh. Sorry, user.” Anyway, she dashed back downhill from the balcony, firing sequentially at the remaining adversaries. One of her rounds fell on a pre-lit torch, forcing the gate to collapse and providing a route back to the main street. “Good to know those are activatable.” Rarity saw her friend coming and committing arson of three of those fuzzy spiny foes and gaining their 6 star bits each. However, the fuchsia filly’s foolhardy firing fostered a few fireballs farther than forecast when friendly fire is functioning. “Oh no. Move out of the way, Rarity!” “Pinkie Pie, darling!” She yelled as she escaped to the left side from the impending trajectory. Furthermore, the barrage of fireballs miraculously lit both bougies in front of the two arrows. It scaled several steps by chance. Was it pure chance, or did the daring make it something else? “And you say I gotta be careful.” “Yeah…sorry, I guess I got too excited about having that power-up.” “You guess?” On that occasion, the red gem necklace shattered and Pinkie’s effects wore off. “Aw, that has a time limit?” Never mind, onwards up the stairs until both stood at the peak that was a wider area. They did see a ceiling not so far from their heads, it looked like the start of an upside-down obstacle course. Maybe it’s so close that a high enough elevation would turn the ceiling into a roof. “Yeah, actually, it’s the circle of the other hemisphere since I can see space in the parallel distance. Do you see, Rarity?” “Why, yes, darling. At least geometry is one thing I can understand, Pinkie.” To avoid breaking their longest necks, they braced themselves and bounced straight vertically. This allowed them to land on their hooves when their gravity changed. While Rarity almost tumbled, Pinkie landed without incident, rewarding 6 star bits for Progress City. The road continued, cutting a space behind a cylinder that swings to whatever side a pony lingers. The platform twisted right after Pinkie hopped where there wasn't a protrusion, her slope progressively steepened unless she rebalanced it. “Okay, never had these types of obstacles before.” Rarity jumped to the left of the appeared impediment. She ran beside Pinkie to cross a square between two gaps before the space got scattered. Two boxes, wooden and gold, are guarded by a spiky pom-pom. Coming closer caused the creature to cycle downhill, attempting to bulldoze both ponies, but once they sidestepped, the creature seemed to continue tumbling into the lava. Jokey Pinkie and hilarity Rarity can't stop laughing at its frailty. “Pfft, I guess this floor’s too steep for them.” “Whatever force made these anatomies didn’t account for their longevity.” On that note, they considered helping themselves with whatever was held within the cubes, all they got were 20 star bits from the airborne block and a zero out of the grounded crate. Meanwhile, they’ve just noticed the waterfall of single-file urchins in the middle diving into the lava. “I was just joking about mother nature making these guys willingly drop to their doom, but now she’s wasting them all on purpose.” This meant they had to find an opportunity to squeeze between the spaces, but luckily, those spaces were adequately wide intervals. This other side of the area had two crates with one sparing a single change. A necklace sat on this side as well, the same red jewel as before. “So this was the necklace that gave me the ability to shoot fire.” “Looks glamorous, perhaps I would like to try it on myself, darling.” “Good idea, Rarity. Just swing a hoof over your head and you’ll just magically throw fire, try to protect me from these urchins. Oh, and friendly fire is on, so be careful not to burn me.” “Don’t worry, Pinkie. I wouldn’t intend to aim at you.” Rarity donned the pendant, and it dyed her mane red to represent the power earned, much as when Pinkie did. She immediately began a roasting rampage, not recklessly, roasting the pouring adversaries and robbing star bits till the mares reached a box of 1 more cent. More land resulted in a massive wall...? A dead end? “Are we missing something?” Pinkie gazed left and Rarity gazed right, each seeing one fireless torch among two, the other was prelit. The powerless pony was going to tell her companion when the fire pony launched a flame. Pinkie then motioned to the one she saw to finish the monument. The necklace broke here, which saddened the wearer, as the stone wall in front rose and showed a deep outline. 5 bits were positioned vertically between two parallel walls. Wall kicks will work, but for non-acrobatics... “You know what to do, darling.” “Hey, “darling” is my word! And yes, I do know what to do.” Rarity stuck onto her friend's cake-scented back so that Pinkie could carry her perfumed friend up the wall. Gravity flipped again and they were dropped onto stony terrain. They turned right, mounted a ledge and boarded another cylinder that rolls back or forth depending on where the mares are standing. They won't fall into the lava if they move quickly and carefully. They needed to decrease the high protrusion so that the slope wasn't too steep to jump from and onto the obstacle's copy. Pinkie and Rarity copied those actions on this copy. “It’s their brethren. Or is it their sistren? You shouldn’t assume their genders.” “While I would agree on that, it’s not really important for the mission, is it?” Between them and their next objective stood no opponents given their diminutive size, dispersion and lack of surveillance. They simply crossed the narrow lava channel. One sentient rock was monitored where Pinkie and Rarity were block surfing. High jumping eliminated the risk of burning, but returning to the ground needed proper propulsion and balance. Both equines embarked onshore before the block sank completely. The Power Star was confined front and center. “Oh, okay. Rarity, we’re close!” “All that’s left is to light the torches against both sides of the door, darling.” “And we have to use that nearby fire necklace.” Chilling on the edge of the left path, a red jewel. They got over to it and began determining who got it and the approach. Pinkie did see the gliding block and knew what the universe expected her to do, but since they both have control… “Couldn’t we just make a straight shot from here instead of timing our aim on that platform?” “That’s what you thought we were intended to do?” “By looking at the walkthrough, I did. I call dibs!” Rarity ignored her ambiguity about this 'walkthrough' as Pinkie raised her hoof. She launched the rocket fuel in a straight line toward the two torches in mere seconds. Upon the flambeaux lit, the bars were lifted and a bridge bridged the lava, leaving room between it and the gliding platform. Now they have a motive to surf the magma. The ponies approached the bridge from the left, then leaped midway while the boat continued onward to reach their stop. They've now earned access to the Power Star and their ticket out of this desert sauna, at least for now. Pinkie and Rarity are allowed to escape the sweltering planet and reside in the cooler Comet Observatory after they get their prize. “Hopefully, we can return those coats to Stella’s wardrobe.” “Hopefully, we can relax our coats in Stella’s space station, ‘cause I’m getting humid already.” How could the satellite's Bedroom not provide air conditioning? Pinkie and Rarity's temperature progressively plummeted since they fled the environment until they reached the lukewarm interior. Their degrees dropped dramatically consequence of the seemingly imperceptible breeze. “Thank Celestia, I can feel the breeze coursing through me like a Changeling hoof.” Nopony was found to socialize or postpone their departure. Pinkie still felt it was beneficial to tuck the wardrobes into the wardrobe, expecting their fur would be enough to support Venus and Neptune temperatures, but little did she know. Rarity concentrated on the intricacy that astonished her when the coats emerged from that springy tail. “Not a single clinging strand? Did you use any shampoo in your shower times?” “Oh, yes, I’m using a product called Prantene that I always buy from the supplies at the Manehattan hygiene store. My recent lather also smelled of butter.” “You have to remind me to buy some. Mine almost worked but they barely held up eight strings.” Without further ado, they were about to go on another hot-cold excursion. It was becoming tedious to explain how a phrase engaged the pull star. Once airborne, a signal was issued to poof the ponies into the aether. Pinkie and Rarity forecast the Fahrenheits in this third round. Hot and Cold Collide In the previous entries, they’ve always landed on the same icy bagel planet and it’s no different this visit. Or is it? The loop of ice looked to have gone through an evolution, it grew a few spherical zits of flaring corona and cobblestone walls separated the molten magma from the frozen water. Pinkie and Rarity have landed, on the ice bordered by three perimeters of the wall. It looks like the mares had to follow the road around with no shortcuts, but they were amazed at how the fire came. “Brrr, I can feel the cold on my hooves, but phew, I’m toasting in the warmth of the radiance near us!” “Me too, impossibly so. Well, in this case, eventually, both temperatures would balance out and reach equilibrium. And yes, I took physics class as well as textiles.” On ice, the ponies might use their skating abilities to move. More suns poked through the stone walls and chomped through some of the icy pathways. Pinkie skated and snagged three aligned star pieces, she and Rarity dodged through oncoming fire comets puked from a faraway star, and seized the opportunity to pull a coin from a protruding crystal. The trek on the planet's surface was hampered by a massive luminary, but the underside was accessible. A free extractible coin on the left, then Pinkie must break through a wall of crystals on the right. Following that, the fire comets followed the ponies along the path, earning three sets of star bits totaling eight, plus one embedded bit. The path concluded with a crystal containing a launch star. “So that’s our exit off this planet. That was fast.” “In our previous times, we were transported to the big snowy planet and the big lava-y planet.” A beginner would not have identified the attributes of their destination if they had eliminated hot or cold. Why not both? Once allowed entrance, the star-shaped gadget propelled its occupants toward a hollow brown planet. The color around their landing location was bluish-grey, and they landed between two bougies. Okay, so Pinkie or Rarity needed to bring fire over to light the torches. Tiding aqua, which may almost lip the platform's tip and sponge into nothing, was also featured. While it appeared to be only water, it was actually an impediment. Pinkie dismissed it as ordinary ocean, but ocean is nonetheless hypothermic. Pinkie ventured to walk on water, but she ain't no Jesus and a small dip in felt like dipping in lidocaine, the chilling numbed her clove. “Hah oh wow, why did I just do that?” Pinkie shoved her glove in her mouth sucking it in her warm saliva. “Oh dear, darling. Are you alright?” “I’ll be fine, but I think the cold water burned the nerve on this hoof. But I gotta keep going!” Pinkie was about to push herself difficult with a malfunctioning limb. Rarity noticed her unhealthy approach and decided to obstruct her with the closest hoof to her friend’s chest, she had another approach. “No, Pinkie. You must remain here and let your hoof cool down, so in that case, I’ll get that glamorous fire necklace myself.” “Wait, what? But, this is my quest, I’m supposed to be the one to deliver these Power Stars.” “Oh, please, none of this ‘it’s my spotlight’ nonsense! Don’t push yourself by risking your life. Besides, it’s gonna take a long five minutes to cure.” Pinkie has known other characters debate similar to being assigned to oneself and neglecting others. And to subject a feverish limb to whatever hardcore task it finds more intense and challenging? It's reckless to risk tripping on rocks like a folded rug. “I’ll be right back safe and sound, darling. I don’t plan on freezing to death any time soon.” “Just please be careful, I’m not about to wait here for you to not come back.” Right after the river receded, Rarity routed right to rise to a reachable rock’s roof. The pony of generosity galloped the giant gap on an elevated greater ground and then, was determined to launch over another gap larger than the previous. “Rarity, I know it’s risky, but you have to walk over when the water drains. You’re not an Opal without feline blood.” Pinkie informed her friend. Making the giant leap would be even riskier than what was intended. Staying above to minimize the number of numb limbs was tactical, but one fall or fail and a bonk on the mountainside. No way is Rarity going daredevil, so she descended after the lack of liquid but hastily ascended a shallower ledge of the rock she was trying to get to. 20 star bits rewarded her for her consequence consideration, then some more islands reachable while airborne stood between them and a wooden wall with down arrows. “Hmm, the other walls are a typical stone. I guess this planked partition means it’s a door or gate? If I were an unlocking mechanism…” Eventually, she discovered a green wheel below the left of the gate. Assumed it was a valve, Rarity knew she had to loosen it. But one hurdle might prevent her from that objective: water. Occasionally, the gizmo becomes submerged by the tides and inaccessible through physical means. She played cautious using magic to activate the thing from a distance. Try as she might, no aura appeared, Rarity’s magic level wouldn’t allow it to reach a handle from there. However, she was not giving up, if only she was closer. As it turns out, a platform existed shallow enough that doesn’t flood and close enough her magic applied to the object. But her magic needed strength applied too, at least as strong as Pinkie’s spin attack. Does she have what it takes? Yes, she does. And pulling the device to the maximum did collapse the wooden gate. This is where the ponies become separated for a while. Rarity must trek while Pinkie… waits. “I’ll just be over here! Just stay alive!” “I’ll be alright, darling! I don’t plan to die young!” The egress made an entrance to a narrow alley that gravity turned with her. She actually went to the planet’s bottom which looked to have a wavy atmosphere because of the volcanic heat. Lava tides rose and fell around most of the area like the water on the cooler side. “Oh, please, not a hundred degrees. I can feel my own disgusting sweat producing any minute now.” The ground height she stood on was a safe zone from the tides. Stone bars in front of Rarity teased her with the tantalizing fire necklace. Out of reach by her hoof too short, herself too wide to squeeze through the gaps. Looks like no shortcut was gonna save her from going through the… “Hmm, why don’t I just…?” Actually, with the combination of a unicorn and the necklace so proximate, while she couldn’t squeeze through, she could instead make the ability squeeze through. Unlike the valve before, the pendant was easy to levitate, neither too finicky nor too heavy and the jewelry slotted in the holes without exploring this hot place. “Thank Celestia. I don’t think I would ever know what’s beyond here, but at least I won’t have to sweat soon.” Instead of immediately wearing the gem, she kept it levitating beside her while she headed back to the ice world. Of course, much to Pinkie’s surprise, Rarity was only gone for just seconds before she emerged bringing fire. “Wow, that was fast. Rarity, you must have cheated.” “I had a shortcut, darling. Aren’t you glad I’m born a unicorn?” The unicorn routed to her right’s archipelago and played the ‘floor is lava’ or water in this case. Finally, she patiently waited for the ocean to sink before running, absorbing the fire and lighting the torches. A launch star materialized. “Is your hoof feeling better, Pinkie Pie?” “I can feel the fire with it, so yeah.” Using the launch star brought the equines soaring out of that brown sphere and to a snowy square. Such platforms are everywhere in this zone on top of scary black holes, the platforms are a mixture of ice and lava with neither having pleasant thermometer readings. “Those black holes look intimidating. Plus the element of no borders?” “I guess we have to get across for a ghost of a chance of reaching that Power Star.” Fortunately, there was the blue gem necklace, or two for two ponies, that could assist them in this phase. Pinkie and Rarity jumped right for it, gaining Elsa's abilities. With the two standing on cold, they twirled together to start skating. First, they performed a 270 to securely face forwards to the following platforms. They turned to the seething squares, oblivious to how their frozen hooves might alter the lava. Ice + lava equals... ice, forming familiar hexagons beneath their hoofsteps. So they continued skating in an S across the lava before returning to frozen squares and ending with a snow one. “Okay, that was odd for the ice to turn lava into ice even though that lava is supposed to melt the ice when the ice made contact with the lava. I mean I’m sure there’s probably scientific reasoning behind this that made that possible, maybe our ice powers are cold enough to freeze lava, but still…” Think the necklaces gave up listening to Pinkie’s rambling? They crumbled to dust in the middle of her long paragraph. “Look what you’re rambling caused!” “Chillax, Rarity. There’s no way that there’s no other ice necklace.” “You know what? You’re known for your yapping, you know?” Rarity told the other pony as she jumped high enough to flip upside-down seeing as the next platforms were also upside-down. They skated across the moving ice as the equines kept talking. “We would shake our heads, roll our eyes or neglect you completely every time you do lengthy talk.” As the ponies attached the jewel to their necks and glided across some lava, Pinkie dared to retort. “You think I don’t notice? All I did was be comedic, have some fun while we’re at it.” Pinkie and Rarity skated across moving hot squares with lines of star bits on them. During their dialogue, they managed to obtain 2 star bits from each row. “Pinkie, we’re here in a sensical universe, do we really need somepony to joke in, say a quest like what we’re doing?” The eloquent mares past the third string of star bits and reached the next necklace where they had to replace the old with the new. This recharged the time limit before the accessory shatters. They’ve reached the end of these platforms, now they must jump to reach the upside-down upside-down platforms. “Uh, hello? Jokes are Pinkie Pie’s specialty, you’ll just get the jokes from me every now and then. Did I give you enough jokes?” On this road of lava, the ponies could see the Power Star in the distance, they were close to finishing Freezeflame Galaxy! But, um, they were not celebrating about it? “No, darling. I think you served me too many annoying jokes.” “Excuse me? Annoying? Me? Oh, so that’s what you think of me, huh?” Uh… The last platforms to the star were connected corner to corner, making it harder but not impossible. Pinkie and Rarity must keep performing the Lutz on every following platform. They succeeded, they didn’t fall and they’ve earned the Power Star, but no dance to victory. Hmm, as they were immediately transported back to the Comet Observatory, they kept arguing. Oh dear. “...Maybe if I found better comedic jokes, at least you would laugh and that would make me smile.” Still, they kept going like their rambling isn’t gonna end soon, and to think this started after Rarity admitted her problem with Pinkie’s rambling. Hey, Twilight and Fluttershy, how are they gonna react? “Welcome back, girls! Did you at least get the Po-” “Ha ha ha! Very funny. I think you’re better off without jokes annoying or hilarious.” Gasp by Pinkie as the bystanders noticed what was happening. Seemed like the argument was spiraling out of control they started roasting each other. Not a cordial sight to behold for neither the alicorn, nor the pegasus. “Knock it off, you two!” Fluttershy shouted as loud as she could and they… ignored her. “Well then, I wouldn’t be the element of laughter, won’t I? And no laughter, means no magic!” Uh oh, without any form of assault, Pinkie will be stuck in this spiraling fire escape until there is an end wherever that is. Nothing was going to move if Pinkie keeps arguing for how long, or unless Twilight and Fluttershy does something about it. Calling won’t help and assault is just offensive. So what can they do?
