//------------------------------// // Chapter 3 // Story: My Little Twiley // by unleashedtwilight //------------------------------// That same day Levi had made preparations so that he could take care of Twilight without needing to leave the house for work. When he explained to his boss that he needed to work from home, naturally he had a few questions as to why. But by the end of their conversation, Levi was able to convince the man to be allowed to do sales from home.  Since then, things have gone rather well for the first year. Levi’s step mother and father would spend time with little Twilight when Levi was working. His father would even tell Twilight stories of some of the things Levi did when he was younger. And when Levi wasn’t on a phone call for work, he’d be the one spending the most time with Twilight; Teaching her how to speak more full sentences, and of course the most important thing for the book loving pony, teaching her how to read. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to bring Twilight into a public library, Levi was rather limited on the books he could give her. He knew he could probably just give her any book in existence from his IPad, but it didn’t seem to fit the mare. There was also the worry of what kind of books to give her. She may be mature in the show, but Twilight was now a filly. He couldn’t exactly just leave her a violent book from the start. So he looked for books that he read when he was younger. “Magic Treehouse?” Twilight asked, looking at the small book in Levi’s hand. “Yup.” Levi nodded. “I loved reading these books when I was younger. My big sister used to always give me the next book whenever I finished one.” Twilight looked at the cover of the book. “Dinosaurs Before Dark… What’s a dinosaur?” “Well they aren’t around anymore, but they used to be these huge animals that lived millions of years ago.” Levi said. Twilight’s eyes widened in fascination upon hearing this. “Millions?? But how do people know what they are??” She asked in an excited tone. “People did a lot of research on them. And a lot of the research was done with fossils.” Levi answered. “These fossils included bones that were found underground. And they show what they might have looked like all those years ago in a museum.” “Do you think I could learn more about them too??” Twilight asked in an eager tone. Levi couldn’t help but laugh a bit. “Sure, I can help you with that, Twiley.” Twilight just stared for a moment. “Twiley?” She asked, tilting her head a bit. “I thought my name was Twilight.” “It’s just a nickname.” He chuckled.  “A nickname? What’s that?” Twilight asked. “Well it’s… just a name you give someone you feel you’ve gotten close to in a way.” Levi explained.  “Oooh, okay.” Twilight says, thinking for a moment as she looks at Levi. “So would I call you Lee? Or Leelee?” “Ehhh… it’s kind of hard to make a nickname from my name, honestly.” Levi said, chuckling a bit. “Well then… How about Dad?” Twilight asked, smiling at him. “I… huh? Dad?” Levi asked, looking like his brain just took a screenshot.  “Well… your dad told me he used to help you a lot when you were small. And I thought since you’re doing that for me… well…” Twilight says, blushing sheepishly. “Sorry.” Levi just looked at Twilight for a moment but laughed lightly. “It’s fine. If that’s what you wanna call me, then go right ahead, Twiley.” Twilight smiled brightly at Levi’s response and just hopped over to him so that they could read the book together. “Chapter 1: Into the woods…” Twilight started. The two would continue to read the book for about an hour or so. There were times Levi had to step away and Twilight had to read on her own. She didn’t seem to mind it too much. However, Levi did notice Twilight having a bit of a hard time flipping through the pages on her own. While it was normal for ponies in Equestria to use their hooves or mouth with everything… Seriously, how did any earth pony play instruments in that world? Levi thought. He knew that Twilight used magic for nearly everything growing up. So he had to find some way to teach her said magic. I suppose I could try rewatching some of the episodes to get a better idea on how to teach her spells. We could start with something simple like levitation and work our way up from there… I should at least be able to help her with that without watching the show. With that in mind, another important thought occurred. I have to tell Twilight the truth about where she came from. And I shouldn’t wait too long either. I don’t want a repeat of what ‘Dashie’ went through. I won’t tell her yet but maybe I will in a few years. By then she would at least understand why I kept it secret. Levi looked over to Twilight who was already reading the 2nd Magic Treehouse book. “Hey Twiley, are you enjoying the new book?” “It’s amazing!” Twilight said, smiling. “I really wonder how strong the magic in this tree is.” Oh the irony… Levi thought and chuckled a bit. “Well, speaking of which, how would you like to start learning to use it?” “Huh?” Twilight asked, raising an eyebrow. “Magic, silly!” Levi answered. “Huh!?” Twilight replied again, only this time with a look of surprise. “You can use magic too because you’re a unicorn.” Levi clarified. “When I first found you, it looked like you were trying to use magic. I saw your horn flickering.” Twilight looked down for a moment trying to remember. “I kind of remember that. It was dark and I was afraid… that flashing light on my head was magic?” “Yeah.” Levi said with a nod. “And if you learn how to use it, you can do all kinds of things with it. Like levitation for example.” He said, picking up the Magic Treehouse book. “You would be able to float this book in the air and use your magic to turn the page instead of using your hooves.” Twilight’s eyes once again widened in excitement. “That would make reading so much easier!” She exclaimed, running up to Levi. “Please teach me. Please please please Please PLEASE!”  Levi just snickered a bit. “Twiley, I already said I was going to teach you.” But my god that was just adorable.  “YES!!” Twilight shouted jumping for joy. “Alright, alright.” Levi laughed a bit. “First we’re going to start with getting a better feel for your magic. You said you somewhat remember that night, right?”  “Mhm.” Twilight said with a light nod. “Let’s see if we can recreate that moment.” Levi said before picking up Twilight, heading upstairs. “Huh?” Twilight asked, looking around in confusion. “Where are we going?” “The attic.” Levi answered. “What!?” Twilight exclaimed as her eyes shrunk. “But you told me there was no light in there!” “Exactly. It is dark. But once you get a proper feel of your own magic, you should be able to make your own light so that you can see.” Levi said, trying to reassure her. Guess I should have expected her to be a little traumatized from that night. Levi thought. “A-Are you sure this is a good idea?” Twilight asked. “Trust me, Twilight. I’ll be right there with you.” Levi said, smiling at her. “Promise.” “...Okay. I trust you, Dad.” Twilight said with a light huff as they headed for the attic. They finally reach the attic door. Once Levi opens it, he gently places Twilight down, letting her walk inside. However, as soon as she walks inside, he quickly closes the door behind her. “D-Dad!?” She exclaimed, quickly turning around. However, all she could see was darkness. “Dad let me out! I don’t want to do this anymore!” She exclaimed, banging on the door. However she got no response. “Please…” She whimpered slightly before turning back around. She sat down on the ground crying slightly… However, she paused when she saw slight flashes in front of her. “I’m right here, Twilight!” Levi called out from behind the door. “H-huh??” Twilight let out, looking behind her. She could see that a purple light was now flashing on the door.  “That feeling you have right now; That light you see is your magic. Hold on to it but try to quiet your mind and relax. Remember that you’re not alone… You will always have someone there for you, Twilight. Whether it be me or someone else. I promise.” Twilight closed her eyes and was panting a bit, trying to catch her breath. “I’m not alone… I’m not alone…” She repeated a few times. She kept doing so for a few minutes until she started breathing calmly again. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised when she saw that she could see more clearly. She would look up to see that her horn was glowing with a constant flowing purple aura; no longer flickering. “I did it.. I did it! I did it! I–” She paused, seeing the door open in front of her. “I knew you would.” Levi smiled, picking Twilight up. “You did amazing, Twiley.” He says, hugging her. “I was scared at first…” Twilight said, looking to the side. “Come on, Twilight, you had nothing to be afraid of. Why would I lie to you?” Levi smiled ruffling her hair, causing her to laugh a bit. “Now how about we go ahead and start learning how to make things float?” “Okay!” Twilight nodded, having a look of newfound confidence. The rest of the day went on with Levi trying to teach Twilight how to use levitation. And as one would expect, she was struggling greatly at first. Twilight was trying her best to use her magic to lift the Magic Treehouse book in the air,  but couldn’t even get close to completing the task. And this would be the case as days went by. She could make the book just barely shake a little bit, but that was about it. Creating magic in itself was one thing, but channeling her magic onto another object was another. And unfortunately I won’t be able to help her as much as I’d like to with it. She’s just going to have to keep practicing. I better also make sure she doesn’t try to overwork herself… speaking of which. “Alright, Twilight I think that’s enough for now.” “Awwww! But I’m almost there, I can feel it!” Twilight whined. “I don’t want you to over do it, Twilight.” Levi said, picking her up again. “How about we have something to eat and watch a little T.V. for now?” “Alright…” She pouted as she was carried to the living room. Levi sat her down on the couch and turned on the T.V. before going to the kitchen. The show that was on seemed strange to Twilight. The art style seemed sort of sharp. “Dragon Ball Z?” Twilight mumbled as she focused on the show. Meanwhile, Levi was currently in the kitchen. From one of the cabinets, he pulled out a bunch of hay and some buns. “You know, you should seriously find a better place to store that.” Regina said, walking into the kitchen. “At least until you move into your own place.” “You’re still planning on selling the house?” Levi asked as he was preparing a hay burger for Twilight.  “Well of course we are.” Regina answered. “I thought that’s what you wanted too.” “Honestly, I haven’t thought about it all that much since Twilight came into our lives.” Levi answered, putting some sauce on the hay before putting the top bun on. “Well you should really keep that in mind. We’ve had a couple of interested buyers who’ve seen the house online already. And we need to keep the house clean for when we give them a tour.” Regina says. “I know.” Levi huffed. “Alright, I’ll try to keep the place clean.” “Do you have a place in mind for when you move already at least?” Regina asked. “Yup.” Levi smirked. “A nice little single floor home. One with two bedrooms, a nice looking kitchen, and even a pool out back. My girlfriend was actually the one who found it at a good price.” “Speaking of which, how is Jane doing?” Regina asked. “I feel like it’s been a while since she’s come to visit.” “She’s doing fine.” Levi answered. “She works pretty far away so it’s only natural she hasn’t been over in a while. She did say she’ll be coming to inspect the new house soon though.” Regina raised an eyebrow at that. “What?” “Have you mentioned Twilight to her yet?” she asked. “Not yet…” Levi huffed, rubbing the back of his head. “Not because I’m afraid of how she’ll react though. More of the fact that she just flat out wouldn’t believe me.” “What about a video call?” Regina asked. “Live video effects exist. She’d just think I was using some Vtuber effect or something.” Levi answered. “How do you think she’ll take it?” Regina asked. “I’m sure she wouldn’t mind… you know, after wrapping her head around the fact that this unicorn exists.” Levi says, making himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. “I’d love to see her reaction when she first meets Twilight.” Regina chuckled. “And by the way, when are you going to get married? You’ve been together for years.”  “I already told you: we’re not actually planning on marriage. The whole thing just always seemed like a hassle to us.” Levi answered. “But what about the ceremony? The pictures? The party?” Regina asked. Levi rolled his eyes at that. “Yeah, and the thousands of dollars spent to make that all happen.” He says, heading back to the living room. “Look, if we do get married, we aren’t doing anything big. Probably elope.” Regina just sighed, shaking her head in response. “If that’s what they want…” Levi soon entered the living room. But he quickly froze when he suddenly saw a remote floating in the air. “Twilight!?” Twilight quickly smiled at Levi. “Dad, look! I did it! I did it!” Twilight said, hopping excitedly. “But, how did–” Levi stammered. “I got the idea when I was watching the show that was on!” Twilight said, looking at the T.V.  Looking at the television himself, he could see it was the episode of Dragon Ball Z where Gohan was teaching Videl to use her energy to fly. “Really? You got the idea from that?” He asked, putting the plates down on the small table. “You think I could use my magic to help me fly too??” Twilight asked, smiling brightly. “To fly??” Levi asked. Well, thinking back, Starlight Glimmer was able to do it, so I suppose it’s possible. “Well, with enough practice yeah I’m sure you could do that.” “Then I wanna do that! Can we start learning tomorrow??” Twilight asked. “Whoa! Whoa! You’re not going to practice flying until you have full control over that magic.”  Levi answered. “What do you mean? I can do it just fine now! See??” She asks, levitating the hay burger… before slamming it into her own face and making a mess. “. . . Eheheheh.”  Levi just sighed. “That’s what I meant.” He says, going back to the kitchen. “I’ll clean this up and make another one.”
