My Little Twiley

Chapter 2

The next morning eventually came. The sun was shining through his window right onto Levi's eyes. He groaned a bit as he slowly sat up on his– "N-Nnnng!" he groaned as he felt a sharp pain on his chest. When he looked, he saw that Twilight had been resting on top of him. Or at least she was until she heard Levi grunt in pain. She quickly got off and looked at Levi with confusion clear in her expression. Levi couldn't help but stare for a moment. I guess… it really wasn't a dream. He thought. He smiled at Twilight. "Sorry if I scared you Twilight. I was just a little hurt, that's all."

"Sorry…" Twilight said, looking to the side now feeling bad.

"Hey, don't feel bad. You didn't know." He says, picking up Twilight gently. "Come on, let's get something to eat."

"...Okay." Twilight answered.

Hmmm… Twilight is answering me but it seems like her vocabulary is limited… I suppose I'll have to help her with that first. Levi thinks as he walks out of his room. Looking around, he saw that his parents weren't awake yet. Let’s see… What should I feed her? She’s obviously very young but not so young to the point she needs to rely on milk alone. He thinks for a moment. If I remember correctly, the ponies in the show did eat things humans ate to a degree, as well as things ponies in real life normally eat; Hay, plant life, etcetera. Maybe I can get some daisies outside, clean them off a bit and then make it into a sandwich. He smiled at the thought before heading outside.

When they got outside, Twilight couldn’t help but go into curiosity mode again as she took in her surroundings of the backyard. Did she only just appear last night? I guess that would be a reasonable explanation as to why it seems like she doesn’t recognize anything. Levi walked over to the first patch of daisies he could find. Before picking up a whole bunch, he would just take one and hold it up to Twilight to see how she’d react first. Her initial reaction was pretty humorous. Her eyes squinted, looking like she was calculating things in her head as she looked over the daisy. “It’s supposed to be food, Twilight.” Levi says, holding back the urge to laugh.

Twilight looked up at Levi for a moment. “Food?” She asks, tilting her head.

“Here, watch me.” Levi says, looking at the daisy for a moment. No matter how weird this tastes, I better not spit it out while she’s looking… would give Twilight the wrong idea. He huffed a bit before taking a bite out of the daisy. “Mmm… See?” He says, clearly looking a bit distressed from just chomping on a flower. This time Twilight was the one that started laughing. "What's so funny?" Levi asked the giggling Twilight before taking another daisy. “Here, you’ll probably like it more than me.” He chuckled, holding it in front of Twilight. She looked over it again but rather than wait, she would slowly take a bite into the daisy herself. As she did, her eyes widened a bit before she started munching it more, obviously enjoying it. “Glad you like it.” Levi chuckled a bit before spitting out the piece he had in his mouth when Twilight wasn’t looking. "Well, I was thinking of making you a daisy sandwich. That sound good?" At that, Twilight nodded happily, finishing the daisy she already had. “Great.” He says, gently putting Twilight down to let her walk. As he was going around gathering daisies, it seemed like Twilight couldn’t help but try gathering daisies as well. She wasn’t good with her magic yet, so the only thing she could really do was gather them with her mouth.

It didn’t take long to gather what they needed. When they were done, they went back inside and headed straight for the kitchen. Levi knelt down and grabbed the daisies from Twilight. And of course, as curious as she’s been so far, she would watch Levi intently as he prepared the food for her. It was something simple. But at the same time, Levi’s never made a sandwich with daisies before, so it was still somewhat strange to him. Regardless, he eventually did get it done. Since Twilight needed help eating, he proceeded to feed the sandwich to her, and naturally she enjoyed it very much.

When she was finished, Levi finally started making his own breakfast; Eggs with toast. As he cooked, Twilight was on the counter, trying to lean in closer next to the frying pan. “Ah! Ah! Ah!” Levi let out, pulling Twilight away. “I know you’re curious, but that’s too hot.”

Twilight was a little confused at first but made sure to stay away from the pan. As she was watching Levi cook, she jumped slightly at the sudden sound of the coffee maker coming to life. “Huh?” Twilight let out.

“It’s just the coffee machine, Twilight.” Levi answered… His eyes slowly widened in realization. “That means my parents are coming down soon!” He says in a panicked tone. He would quickly finish cooking the eggs and he put them on a plate along with the toast he made. He grabs that plate and the coffee, about to quickly bring them over to his step mother before suddenly being met up by the woman in question. “A-Ah! Regina!”

His step mother looked at Levi a little surprised. “Oh! Levi, I didn’t know you were up already.”

“W-Well, I was thinking I’d take the chance to make you breakfast this time and bring it to you in bed!” Levi stammered a bit.

“Breakfast in bed?” Regina asked, looking even more surprised. “Oh I haven’t done that in years. But you don’t need to trouble yourself, sweetie.”

“Really, I insist!” Levi says, handing the plate and coffee to Regina.

“O-Oh, okay but what about your father?” She asked, somewhat taken back.

“Making his breakfast next. No need to worry. Will be done in a few minutes!” He says, leading her back to her bedroom with Dad. He took a deep breath before quickly going back to the kitchen. “That was close…” He let out. However, as he looked around, it seemed like the purple unicorn filly was nowhere to be seen. “Twilight?” He asked, looking around for her. “Twilight??” He called out.

“Levi…??” Regina’s voice could be heard from her room.

“Nnng… coming!” Levi answered, quickly going back to their room. He opened the door, walking inside. “Yes Regin– AH!” he yelped. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest when he suddenly saw Twilight was sitting in the bed with my dad.

“We were about to check on you to see why you were acting so strange…” Regina said, staring at Twilight, “...But I think I already got my answer. Levi, what were you thinking when you decided to take care of a little horse!”

“A-actually they’re a pony.” Levi corrected, only getting a stare from both Regina and his dad. “Right, not the point. Look, I found her in the shed last night during the storm that was going on. She was all alone and I didn’t just wanna leave her out there.

“”But she must have a family. One I’m sure is probably worried about her right now.” Regina said.

“Why is she purple though?” Levi’s dad asked. “Is she sick or something?”

“No, she’s not sick. That’s just how she is naturally.” Levi answered.

“Naturally…? But there’s nothing natural about this.” Levi’s dad replied. “And what’s with this bump on her head?” He asked, about to touch Twilight’s horn. However, Twilight flailed her hooves in response to keep them away.

“I don’t think they like that.” Regina says, sitting beside Levi’s dad and Twilight. “I’ve honestly never seen a pony that looks like this before. I will admit, they do look cute though.” She says running her fingers through Twilight’s mane.

Twilight smiled in response to the compliment. “Thank you.”

At that, Regina froze and quickly pulled her hand away from Twilight. “Did… did that just come from you?” She asked, looking at Twilight. Twilight simply nodded in response. Levi’s step mother slowly looked over to Levi who could be seen visibly sweating. “Levi, what are you not telling us?”

"Eheheh." Levi let out nervously. "That her name is Twilight and she's a unicorn?"

This time it was the father's turn to speak up. "What?? Levi, unicorns aren't real– Oh my god. I thought you were over this sort of thing!"

"How can you say that they aren't real when there's one literally sitting in your bed??" Levi asked with a groan.

"Levi, you do understand that this sort of thing isn't normal, right??" Regina asked.

"So what if it's not normal?? I already promised to take care of Twilight, and I'm gonna keep my promise!" Levi said, raising his voice a bit.

"You can barely take care of a dog!" Dad retorted.

"Okay, that is totally different." Levi mused. "Why can't you trust me??"

"To be fair, Levi, unicorns have never actually been seen by anyone. How do you even know how to take care of her?" Regina asked.

"I know plenty on how to, okay?? And what I don't know I'll research!" Levi says. As he spoke, Regina could see that he was practically begging them to trust him based on his expression alone.

"Levi, you can't just–" Dad said but was quickly cut off when Regina grabbed his arm.

"...Are you really sure you want to do this? To take on this responsibility?" Regina asked.

"More sure than anything." Levi says, going to pick up Twilight.

Regina just sat on the bed and stared at Twilight and Levi for a moment. "Alright… if that's what you really want, then we'll support you."

Levi couldn't help but smile at his step mother when she said that. "Thank you. thank you so much, Regina." Levi says, hugging Twilight.

"Regina, you can't be serious." Levi's father whispered.

"Of course I'm serious." She whispered back. "Just look at him." Levi's father paused, looking over at Levi who was hugging Twilight, both him and Twilight could be seen laughing… "When was the last time you saw him smiling like that? He really wants to do this… So I say we give him a chance."

Levi's father just sighed in response. "Alright… hey! I thought you said you were making me breakfast." He chuckled a bit.

"I-I mean." Levi sputtered. "We could all just eat at the table."

"No no no, you said you wanted us to have breakfast in bed, now I want that too!" He laughed a bit.

"And we can look after Twilight while you're cooking." Regina said smiling.

Levi sweat dropped a bit at that. My fault for trying to lie with the whole breakfast in bed thing. "A-Alright." She says, gently handing Twilight over to Regina. "I'll be right back, okay?" He says to Twilight.

"Okay." Twilight nodded smiling. With that, Levi quickly went back to the kitchen.

"And make breakfast for yourself so you can join us!" Regina called out.

"I will!" Levi responded, starting to make his dad and himself some eggs and toast.

Regina smiled as she held onto Twilight. "So has Levi been nice to you?" She asked the pony.

"Mhm!" Twilight nodded smiling.

"Oh, she is so CUTE!" She says, hugging Twilight tightly.

"Uh, I don't think she can breathe, Regina." Levi's dad says.

"Oops!" Regina let out, releasing her from the hug. She had noticed Twilight was taking deep breaths after that. "Sorry about that, Twilight."

About an hour passes from that point. Levi had brought the eggs for his father and the three of them had breakfast in the bedroom. Twilight seemed to like being around Levi's parents. And his parents certainly enjoyed the pony's company as well. Although one thought did come to mind for Levi's father. "So how are you going to work if you're taking care of Twilight?"

"I'm going to call my boss to try and get permission to work from home. It should be possible in my position." Levi answered.

"You don't have to do that, Levi. We can take care of her while you're away." Regina says.

"I appreciate that, Regina but I wanna take full responsibility for her." Levi says.

Regina couldn't help but giggle a bit at his response. "Alright. But please do remember that we'll always be there to support you, okay? We love you."

"Thanks." Levi smiled. "And I love you too."
