//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: My Little Twiley // by unleashedtwilight //------------------------------// Hi. My name is Levi. This is the story of how my whole life changed forever. My days seem to start and end the same lately; I wake up, go to work, come home, watch some T.V. with dinner, go back to sleep. Occasionally I would turn on my PS5 and play with the few friends I still have from High School. And I used to be big on gaming. I would be the guy you see at a midnight release waiting for the next installment of Pokémon or something. Although, lately I haven’t exactly had the motivation to enjoy games as much as I used to… or the time for that matter. By the time I get home from work, I’m usually already tired. Things just haven't been the same since my mother passed away almost 2 years ago now. … I won’t get too much into detail about that though. For a while it’s been just me and my dad alone in a huge house that could hold a family of five easily. My older brothers are married, as well as my older sister so obviously they wouldn't stick around in that house. Eventually my father did remarry, and thankfully seems happy with this new woman. But admittedly there are times where I would see him staring at old photos and start breaking down again. And if I saw him do it, I’d usually do the same. After the wedding, things seemed to feel normal again for a little while. There’s even been talk about us moving to a smaller house. They knew they wouldn’t be able to have kids anymore, so they figured it was pointless to stay in this enormous house. And honestly, I agreed with them. The days went on and my father, step mother, and I would start getting things ready around the house to get it in a more sellable condition. I even started helping with painting the walls. One day, we were getting low on paint, and there was still a lot to do… “Levi, can you go to your work to get us some more paint? I told you two gallons wasn’t enough.” Dad huffed. “Well you weren’t exactly sure yourself, you know.” My step mother added in. “It’s fine. It’s not that far of a drive, so it’s no big deal.” Levi chuckled a bit, rubbing the back of his head. “What was the name of the color again?” “Gray Owl. Eggshell base.” Dad answered before tossing his credit card to Levi. “And get another 2 gallons. That should be enough.” Levi rolled his eyes a bit, catching the card. “You got it.” he says, heading out the door. “And drive safely!” Levi’s stepmom added. Levi sort of just sweat dropped at that. “I’m 28. I think I should be fine.” he chuckled. “I know you are fine. I’m referring more to the idiots on the road.” She said, crossing her arms a bit. Levi chuckled at that. “Alright, I’ll be careful.” “Love you, sweetie.” She smiled at Levi. Levi looked at her step mother for a moment, hesitant to answer at first. "Yeah… love you too." he said as he walked out. Not with a sad face but more unsure.  Of course his step mother took notice of this and just sighed. "What's wrong?" Levi’s father asked her. "I don't know. I just don't feel like he's warmed up to me completely yet." She said, looking more concerned than anything. "...He will eventually. As sad as it is to say, he was a lot closer to his mother than he was with me.” Levi’s dad said, rubbing the back of his head. “I know how he acts around us, but I can tell he’s holding his emotions back.” “He’s bottling up his emotions?” The stepmother asked, looking concerned. “It’s the only thing I can think of to explain how he’s acting now. He used to be a lot more energetic. Now he mostly keeps to himself… barely even sees his friends anymore.”  “Well, isn’t there something we can do? I hate to know that he’s this upset.” She asked, somewhat in a pleading tone. “All we can really do is be there for him as we can…” _________________________________________ Levi was currently driving toward his work to pick up the paint. His mind wasn’t focused on the road however. In fact it was sort of in autopilot as other thoughts were running through his mind. Why did I hesitate when I said that? I know she cares about me and she’s been genuinely kind to me and my family since she met Dad. Am I just that afraid of moving on? He thought, for a moment. Maybe there’s something I can do to make it up to her. Maybe take her out to Texas Roadhouse and pay for both our meals… or maybe we could see a movie. It would be a start at lea– Suddenly there was a loud beep that took Levi out of autopilot abruptly. “Shit!” He shouted, hitting the breaks, nearly rear ending the person in front of him. He panted heavily, catching his breath. “That was–” And without warning, Levi was rear ended himself; causing him to slam into the person in front of him. The force of the impact caused him to pass out behind the wheel. Eventually, Levi found himself waking up to a bright light. When his vision became clearer. He took in his surroundings and saw that he was in a hospital. Upon further inspection, he could also see that he was lying in a hospital bed. The moment he tried getting up, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. “Easy there, young man.” A man said coming into the room… he looked like he was a doctor. “What happened?” Levi asked, holding his chest. “Well you were in a pretty rough accident.” The doctor answered. “No serious injuries however. A couple of broken ribs, but nothing life threatening.”  “In that case, I’d like to check out please.” Levi took a deep breath, groaning in pain as he sat up. “Check out? Young man, your car has been totalled… and on top of that, I recommend you stay at least one night to recuperate and–” “I’m fine.” Levi said, cutting the doctor off. “I’ll call an Uber or something and get going.” “Well… I suppose you could but I had already reached out to your father.” The doctor finally said. “W-What!? How do you even know who he is!?” Levi exclaimed in a panic. “He was on the top of your emergency contact list.” He responded. “Why are you so worried about him knowing you’re here?” Levi just took a deep breath. “Nothing… forget it.” The doctor raised an eyebrow at that but shrugged. “Well, it’s none of my business… your father should be here shortly. Please try to relax.” Levi just groaned before laying back. My family was paranoid enough as it was… now they’re probably gonna try to force me to hitch rides with them. About 20 minutes or so passed. Levi eventually saw the panicked expressions of his father and stepmother. “Levi! What in the world happened??” His stepmother exclaimed, getting closer. Not angrily but more so with a look of worry on her face. “I’m fine… just some idiot on the road wasn’t paying attention.” I wasn’t completely focused myself but I wasn’t gonna tell them that part. “Ugh…!” She groaned. “You see what I mean?? So many people on the road these days don’t even deserve a license!” “As I told Levi, he hasn’t suffered from any life threatening injuries. Just some broken ribs…” The doctor said to Levi’s father and Stepmother. “How long will he need to stay?” Dad asked the doctor. “Well… he tells me he doesn’t want to stay. And we can’t force them to stay either.” The doctor says, taking a deep breath. “Though if he truly does want to return home, I would at least advise you to take a few days out of work.” “But it’s not like I’m doing any heavy lifting. I’m sitting behind a counter all day.” Levi retorted. “I don’t know, Levi. I think he has a point… you have some off time, right? Plus I think you could really use the time off to reduce some of your stress.” His Stepmother says. Levi just looks to the side, thinking for a moment. I guess it would allow us more time together. “...Alright. I’ll take some time off from work.” He huffed. After some more time spent in the hospital, and some annoying paperwork filled out, Levi and his parents returned home. Not too much was said after that day. And unfortunately for the step mother, the next few days at home were still rather quiet. Rather than talking, he would be seen reading on his computer. She couldn't tell what it was but decided not to press on the subject. What Levi was reading however was fanfiction… one he admittedly was a little embarrassed about. A My Little Pony fanfiction. His dad knew he was big into the Brony community at some point, but after the show died down with the season finale, he found that Levi didn't really do anything with My Little Pony anymore… or at least he did so little to the point where he didn't even notice. Occasionally Levi would find himself reading older fanfiction from the early days of the community. Past Sins. Fallout Equestria… but one he truly enjoyed was the story "My Little Dashie". He couldn't help but smile every time he read it, or watched the fan animation for it. It was one of those stories that made him go… "Man… I wonder what it would be like for me if I was in this guy's position?" And at the same time, it sort of saddened him because he knew it wasn't possible. It was just a cartoon after all. "I do wish it was real though." With that thought in mind, he just took a deep breath before looking at the clock on his computer. "11:09 PM. Ugh… I should really get some sleep." He says, stretching his arms, but doubles over a bit, feeling a pain in his chest still. "Stupid car accident. I hope I can get a replacement car soon." He says, putting his computer in sleep mode. He stood up and walked over to his bed, laying down in it. He would lay in it for a minute with his eyes shut. Complete silence for one minute… and then another.  Suddenly out of nowhere, a loud thunder strike could be heard outside, startling the young man. "A thunderstorm? Seriously?? I don't remember seeing that in the weather today." He groaned, holding his head. "...Crap, did Dad leave his window open?" With that thought, he winced as he quickly got out of bed. He put his coat and shoes on, grabbing his fathers keys before walking outside. He did see that the window was in fact cracked open. "Seriously, Dad?" He huffed, remote starting the car and going in to close all the windows completely. Without another word, he closed and locked the door again before making his way back to the house.  As he was walking, however, he paused. He noticed a somewhat dim light flickering in the distance. He noticed the light was coming from his father's shed. "What?... Is someone in our shed??" He asked as he began slowly walking over to the small shed. As he got closer, he noticed something seemed off. "...Is that light… purple?" He asked, seeing the purple light continue to flicker, as if it was a weak or dying light.  When he finally opened the door, Levi looked around but found that he didn't look too long. His eyes were quickly focused on something he never thought or imagined he'd see in his entire life. It was a purple unicorn filly who looked startled as she looked up at the man. And it wasn't just any unicorn. He could tell… this was Twilight. The actual Twilight Sparkle! Granted she showed no signs of having a cutie mark but it was impossible to mistake that mane style and color. "Uh… hi there." He says, lightly waving at the purple unicorn. Twilight stared at Levi for a moment, looking over him quizzically… seems even at the age of a filly, Twilight remained the same.  "Do you know where you are?" Levi asked. Twilight simply shook her head… She can understand me at least. "Do you have a name?" This time Twilight raised a hoof to say something. But as she did, she immediately looked down. After a moment of thinking, she finally shook her head. So she lost her memory… just like Rainbow Dash did in that story. "Alright… how about I take you into my home for now?" At this, Twilight's eyes widened a bit and she looked to the side nervously, looking unsure. "It's okay. I promise you'll love it!" He says, smiling at her slightly. "Plus… I'd feel bad leaving you out here in the rain." At this, Twilight gave Levi another unsure glance before finally nodding in agreement. With that, Levi knelt down to the young filly, gently picking her up. Twilight seemed to squirm at first, but eventually calmed down. "It's really late… we better get to my room before my parents notice." Levi says, finally heading back into the house. Upon entering, Twilight immediately went into curiosity mode; looking over everything in my house. From the furniture, all the way down to the moldings on the wall. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. He chuckled a bit. Eventually he finally reached his room. Thankfully with no one taking notice that he went outside. He then placed the filly Twilight onto his bed. … And right away, several thoughts were racing through his mind. How is this happening…? How is this even remotely possible?? I'm thankful I was trusted to be given this chance but… can I really take care of a Unicorn? How will this work with my work schedule? Will I have enough money for food or– He paused, noticing Twilight's unsure look again. …I suppose I should at least start by giving Twilight her name. "So… I'm not exactly sure where you come from, so until I do figure that out, I'll be taking care of you for the time being." Once again, Twilight raised an unsure eyebrow but slowly nodded. "My name is Levi. And… I guess I should really give you a name, huh? How aboooout… Twilight?" Twilight wasn't sure why but she smiled when she heard the name, quickly nodding her head. "You like that name?" "...Twi…light!" Twilight let out smiling. Levi couldn't help but laugh a bit at that. "Twilight it is then."
