The centre of Ponyvillie was alight with activity. Ponies, yaks and griffins gathered around a large market. The stalls were from out of town, merchants and travellers having stopped at the town to sell their goods.
The locals were more than excited for the event, a certain pink earth pony having already began a party to celebrate consuming a third of the town in confetti and balloons.
The only pony around who wasn’t that enthusiastic for it was a small dark green thestral filly holding an umbrella with her wing as she moved about. Walking alongside her was the Element of Loyalty.
“Cheer up Anon you look like a stampede flattened your house” Dash chuckled while she hovered off the ground “one did, remember” Anon grumbled “yeah sorry about that” Dash chuckled nervously.
“Rainbow I’m trapped in the body of a filly, I now get burned by the sun and to top it all off I’m stuck living in a fucking cloud, excuse me for not being all sunshine and gumdrop smiles” Anon stated “hey my house is awsome! Also Twilight says she thinks she’s made a breakthrough in turning you back to normal” Rainbow said.
“Great, maybe she’ll turn me into a minotaur this ti-“
“Uuh, Anon? You doing ok?” Dash asked, concerned at the filly suddenly stopping.
Anon’s nose twitched as she inhaled air rapidly “that smell” she said continuing to sniff rapidly “what smell?” Dash asked, unable to smell whatever got Anon so worked up “it smells like-“ Anon started before her eyes went wide and she rushed off into the crowd “Anon wait!” Dahs said flying after the filly “MEAT!” She could hear Anon call out.
Flying over the crowd Dash’s eyes went over the crowd like hawk. She couldn’t spot Anon anywhere, instead seeing Fluttershy nervously moving through the crowd.
Landing next to her with a thud Rainbow Dash flinched back as her yellow friend yelped in shock “sorry Shy, didn’t mean to scare you” she apologised “I-It’s alright Dashie, have you seen Angel? His family went into the Everfree yesterday and they haven’t come back yet” she asked stuttering as she spoke “sorry Shy I haven’t seen him all week, but I’ll help you look for him after I find where Anon went” Rainbow Dash promised.
“Anon’s missing?” Fluttershy asked, gaining an even more worried look “yeah, come one I’m sure we can find him if we work together” Dash said as the two pegasi flew into the sky.
Each searching one end of the crowd to the next, Rainbow Dash spotted Anon at a stand managed by a griffin.
“Anon!” She called out landing feet from the filly.
“Hi Rainbow Dash” Anon greeted before burying her face in a wooden bowl “Anon do you have any idea how worried you made me- what are you eating?” Rainbow started before the smell hit her nostrils.
“Griffin stew” the griffin pouring more of the brown broth into another bowl said “how can you eat that stuff? It smells like something died in it” she asked as her face went a little green “something did, it’s got meat in it” Anon said temperarly lifting her head out of the bowl before going back in.
“Hey what meat is this? I’ve never tasted anything like this before?” Anon asked as the griffin put another bowl down infront of her.
“Oh? It’s just some rabbits I found in the forest the day before I got into town” he explained.
Suddenly Rainbow Dash’s eyes shrank to pinpricks, the cogs in her mind didn’t have to turn very long before she knocked the bowl away from Anon with her hoof, sending stew flying across the ground.
“What the fuck!? That was ten bits worth of stew you pastel bitch!”
“Anon that was RABBIT stew!”
“Yes, ten bits worth of stew!”
“Where did you even get ten bits!”
“Rarity”
Putting Anon under her hoof Dash turned to flee the scene of the crime. Unfortunately as she spread her wings her muzzle pressed against Fluttershy’s as the two bumped into each other.
“Oh Rainbow Dash, you found Anon” she beamed giving Anon an unasked for nuzzle “you shouldn’t run off like that Anon what if you got foalnapped” she then scolded.
“Flutters I’m forcibly cosplaying as a mini-horse Dracula I’m not getting kidnapped. And again Dash you spilt my stew!” Anon responded trying to wiggle out of Dash’s grasp while staying in the shade of her umbrella.
“Rainbow that wasn’t very nice” Fluttershy chided her friend before ruffling Anon’s mane with her hoof “it’s alright Anon, how about we go back to my home and I make you some nice carrot soup? Then we can go find where Angel wondered off to” she added.
“Wait your rabbit is missing?”
“Yes Anon, her pet RABBIT went missing the day before the market rolled into town” Rainbow explained putting extra effort into each word to try and get her message through to Anon.
The wheels in the filly’s head turned much slower than in Rainbows, but once it clicked the look was far more detailed. Her fur went white and her eyes almost sank into their sockets as sweat started comming out in buckets.
Fluttershy tilted her head at the sight “don’t you like carrot soup?” She asked innocently.
“Nah it’s not that she umm, is sick! Yep she had too much stew. I’ll just take her back to my place and she can rest. OkthenIllseeyoulaterShybey!” Rainbow Dash said before rocketing into the sky towards her cloud home.
“Whatdowedowhatdowedowhatdowedo?!” She kept chanting to herself as she flapped her wings as hard as she could “just get her another rabbit!” Anon said trying to hold onto her umbrella “she’ll be able to tell!” Rainbow responded.
“Well what’s the alternative ‘sorry Fluttershy I ate your pet, can I still crash at yours next week!? It’s a damn rabbit just get a new once and hope it’s as much of a jerk as the last on- OH GOD NATURAL LIGHT!” Anon said before losing her grip on the umbrella.
-the next day-
“Oh Angel I’m so glad to see you!” Fluttershy squealed as she hugged the white rabbit.
Rainbow Dash and Anon sat in her hut wearing nervous smiles “y-yeah, found the little guy in a tree trunk just a few minutes flight into the forest” Dash explained/lied “that’s exactly what happened, I didn’t eat him or anything” Anon chuckled nervously before getting lightly kick by Dash’s foreleg.
“Thanks to both of you, I’ll treat you both to a trip to Sugarcube Corner tomorrow, but right now I have a lot of snuggling with Angel to catch up on” Fluttershy thanked while still cuddling the suspiciously friendly rabbit.
Leaving them to their ‘reunion’ the two flyers returned to Dash’s home after the sun went down.
“We take this secret to our graves”
“Agreed”
While they thought their cunning plan would work, Angel Bunny did find his way back home. Having spent a a night living with Zecora, who had saved him from the griffin the day he went missing.
Safe to say both Rainbow Dash and Anon had a lot of explaining to do.
