//------------------------------// // Wake - 0 (Edited as of 7 - 9 - 2023) // Story: Lost with Destiny // by Hidden_Night //------------------------------// Wake - Chapter 0 Waking up to the feeling of something tickling my nose. It tingled down my body and it caused me to sneeze, abruptly waking me from my silence. It kick started my fight or flight, scrambling and kicking the dirt. Only to find an orange leaf fall gently to the grass below, only for a gust of wind to carry it away. Leading my eyes to follow it. Then it hit me, I am outside sleeping in a field in the middle of nowhere. Trees with falling autumn leaves slowly descending from the trees. It was quite a beautiful sight, though the chilly breeze leading the leaves away wasn't quite as harmonic as the scenery. Taking a deep breath, I sat my behind on the dirt and began to think about where I ended up, slowly bringing up my arm to press against my chin. Wait, don't I have hands? My thoughts obstructed my pondering as I slowly looked down to my appendages. Lifting the remnants of my arm to my eyeline, only to be met with a hoof. Gray in color, round and oddly thick. Inspecting my new "arm", thinking I either lost my arm in that accident or I have begun to recognize I'm in a coma. Though comas don't make you sneeze, that's for sure. Putting the thought away for later, I began to slowly trail down the feature having noticed it's like my old arm. Swiftly testing how it bends, and moving my shoulder to actually see if I feel anything with the new appendage. It was surreal, everything felt as it should minus the hands. Replacing my lost digits, I felt a minor tingling sensation at the end almost like I'm trying to grasp something that isn't there. Satisfied, I set down the new found arm and began to check up on the rest of my body, looking down I was met with another set of gray appendages. Suddenly I am a quadruped, though it looks like a horse, it's similar yet way too different. Piecing together what I know, I am going to safely assume I am now an alien. That or a fucked up horse. With an answer in hand, I pushed myself forward. Attempting to stand with the new body. If I did it while panicking, I can do it with my senses intact. A swift push off the ground and now I am standing, all four ends touching the ground, straightened back, eyes forward. Remarkably easy, now for the difficult part. Unsure as to how to even walk, I moved my left half of my body forward, planting them on the dirt then doing the same with the right. Taking it slow and steady as to get my bearings while walking down the woods. It worked for the most part, before twisting one of my ancles on uneven dirt and stumbling to the left, hitting my forehead on a tree. Though for some reason, I feel the pain intensify on my forehead, and it's getting more intense! “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" I yelled, feeling pain course through my forehead, like a metal rod decided to dislodge in my head and wiggle around for fun. The recursive pain kept fluctuating through my head. Biting my tongue and feeling tears form in my eyes I tried to sooth the pain, hissing to myself as I pulled myself away from the tree. I tried to get my new body parts to my head to sooth the pain, only to land chin first into the dirt. Sure, it hurts but not as much as the pain in my forehead. Though it only worsened the tears forming, blocking my vision. Keeping my positioning on the dirt below, I reached up and slowly rubbed my head, only to find a protruding bump upon my head. It sent a shiver down my spine at the gentle touch, it was sensitive little thing there. It soothed the pain with the gentle care. Though something flickered when I tried to focus on the appendage to feel what's wrong. Small sparks descended from my head, I trailed the sparks and cleared my eyes of tears with a quick rub. Seeing something I somehow haven't noticed. A horn. Swelling with excitement I tried to focus on the part again, seeing more sparks fall to the dirt, purple sparks. I am a Unicorn, that explains everything! My weird grey coat, my odd body parts, the odd sensation of extreme pain, I must be a majestic unicorn. Sure I may be a guy, and yeah I grew up with multiple sisters, but unicorns are cool! They're a horse with a knife for a forehead, or spearhead or magic gun. Plus they're typically magical creatures, so if I can make sparks happen what else can I do? I was getting giddy with excitement before stopping myself. Wait, I still need shelter, food, and water. Lifting myself off the ground I shook my head, getting the dirt and last remnants of pain away for now. Deciding to continue my trek through the woods. It was easier this time, instead of doing it left by right for walking, I just ordered my steps. One foot then the back, then the other foot, then the other back. One, two, three, and four. I've been walking for what feels like hours, though most likely it's minutes. I miss my phone and my songs, made hiking a little enjoyable and kept track of time well enough. Though just my luck, I have found a dirt path, leading left and right from where I am standing. Trusting my instinct for now and heading right. Keeping myself on the right hand side of the path just in case. Didn't have to walk far before coming across a map on a podium contained in a glass case, nearing a bridge with with running water. Checking the map first, I looked down at it, catching a bit of my reflection in the process. Though obscured, I could see I have a muzzle and my eyes were bigger than usual. Plus my head was big, I knew I had a big head but this is annoying. Though the horn on my forehead made it worth the larger head Probably par for the course for a Unicorn, probably need the bigger head to use magic. I think. Checking the legend and marked spots, I saw a few interesting locations, Luna Falls, some rocks, a cliff, and a village nearby under the name of Ponyville. Odd naming decision aside, I assume they're friendly with horses to not send me off to be extracted for unicorn hair. Not a bad idea to sell my own hair if I could talk, wait I should've probably checked that first. "Ahem, one, two, three, three, two, one," I slowly repeated, my voice sounds about the same as I remember. Though thinking about it now, they'll probably send me to a lab instead of getting unicorn hair if I spoke. Best to go cautiously into town. Though being a unicorn I'd probably get pampered and loved by everyone in the horse village. Hehe, easy life here I come! Keeping my eyes on the map, I found where I am, right next to the bridge with the water running down, and decided to follow the recommended trail down to the village. With the woods slowly getting less dense with trees as I continued onwards. Thatched rooves, and tall buildings slowly crept upon the horizon. I was getting close. Though I think it's quite quaint, maybe I got sent back in time, would explain the magic, though if I did it myself or this is a reincarnation plot then I don't know. Watched too many isekai anime to know how this should go. I either am a nobody and no one pays me mind, or I am the hero of destiny. Rather not be a hero of destiny, but since I am a unicorn, I probably got sent to the role of destined greatness with hardship by default. I wonder what grand quest I have been sent upon. My thoughts were abrupted when I slowly marched into town, staying on the path and seeing oddly colorful horse like aliens. Like me, they had the same features, four round appendages, fur and a large head. Noticing an interesting feature, each one of them had a unique picture on their butt. Saw a rose, an hour glass, three apples, a large green apple on the biggest horse I have seen yet, and three pieces of candy. Though her friend’s was covered up by her body. Quickly checking my own butt only to find nothing, I am blank. Unless they’re called Flanks, which is probably more likely then butt. Blank Flank does sound better than Blank Butt, despite the alliteration. Must be a tribal thing, tattoos to match your job or whatever. With a spark of my horn for confidence I just walked in. One step at a time, though with an audience before me it’s starting to get to my head a little. Find something useful to do before finding the way home. Pretend to fit in, hopefully the human owners that will eventually come around won’t question me intruding. The barn in the distance is probably where they live. God only knows if these horses are treated correctly. Rather not get shot in the head for not walking right. Though with how colorful everything is here. I’m probably fine. Heading down the path, this “Ponyville” is an odd mix of modern and medieval architecture. Thatch roofed buildings with wooden walls, but I can see a fridge in some of the windows that lead to the kitchen, so they have some modern furniture. Probably a tourist spot, let people live among horses for a couple days does sound like a horse girl’s fantasy. Why do I get the feeling someone is trying to tell me something?! With the thought going through my head I turn around quickly to be stared down by the biggest blue eyes I’ve seen on a horse. A pink pony with the poofiest hair I’ve seen. Though her eyes examined me for a moment, and with a gasp she began floating. I don’t even want to know how, and got closer to me. Somehow bringing wagon with her from somewhere. Hammer-space comes with this form? With a tug on the screen, loud up beat music began to play, with the wagon producing cannons and shooting confetti into the air, somehow coating the area around me with streamers, balloons, a cake, and some fun decorations. Though with the “Welcome to Ponyville” written on a banner above me. “WELCOME TO PONYVILLE!” The loud pink girl yelled out, her high pitched voice sounds squeaky and bubbly enough for me to not be annoyed at how loud she is. Almost like a little sibling. “What?” Was all I could say to this odd moment.
