Sunset was sitting on a rock, thinking about all the events that have transpired.
"Is something troubling you, Sunset Shimmer of Equestria," Ganthet asked.
"Oh, it's nothing really," Sunset replied. "It's just that I've been wondering why the ring chose me, why not someone else?"
"You have a lot of self-doubt in your heart," Ganthet stated. "That is understandable, considering all the events that have transpired in your lifetime."
"Events," Sunset said in confusion.
"Events such as The Fall Formal, The Battle of the Bands, Anon-A-Miss, The Friendship Games, The Memory Stone, even the Time-Twirler," Ganthet stated.
"They're have been many forces at play that have tried to break your spirit and resolve, but you would never give up, because you always had hope that friendship would prevail," Ganthet said. "And friendship is nothing without Hope. That is why the Blue Ring chose you."
"But you are not the only one who had emotional turmoil," Ganthet said as he looked at Twilight. "Thanks to you, you allowed Twilight to hope again and to learn about friendship as well."
Suddenly, Ganthet looks up to see several orbs of blue light approaching the planet.
"Ah, the others have finally arrived," Ganthet said as the rest of the new Blue Lanterns arrived.
Sunset, Twilight, and Pinkie Pie all saw familiar faces and some new ones too.
"Timber Spruce, you son of a gun," Twilight said as she ran over to greet him. "It's so good to see you."
"Wow, no matter what, we just can't stay away from each other huh," Timber said with a smile.
"Wallflower Blush, I always knew the ring would choose you," Sunset said as she greeted her. "You're sweater looks good in blue."
"Thanks, it's good that I'll be remembered for something now," Wallflower said with a tear of joy.
Sunset then saw Pinkie Pie hugging Cheese Sandwich as they also reunited.
"Alright, now that that's all taken care of, I think it is time to fill everyone in," Ganthet said. "Welcome, new Blue-Lanterns, all of you have come at just the right time."
"I know that all of you have many questions that you want to be answered, and they will be answered, but first there is something major going on in the universe," Ganthet said. "The rings chose you all because you all have great hope in your hearts, hope will be beneficial when the Blackest Night arrives."
Suddenly, Twilight felt a familiar buzzing in her head.
"Aw, so the Blackest Night is true," Midnight Sparkle retorted.
Twilight then saw that she was no longer on Odym but in Midnight Sparkle's void.
"Ugh, what do you want now, Midnight," Twilight said as she saw her former demon self shackled in chains made from the magic of Twilight's Geode. "You can't hurt me, you know."
"I don't have to hurt you, you ignorant child," Midnight sneered. "Now that a new world order is coming."
"What are you talking about," Twilight asked.
"You may have gotten a little boost from that Blue Lantern Ring, but even that will not save you from what is coming," Midnight retorted. "For very soon, the universe will fade to darkness and misery. And the Black Light of Death will spread upon the universe like a plague...A Plague of Death."
"Oh really," Twilight said as her ring started glowing, turning Midnight's shackles blue. "I can always make your chains tighter."
"YOU DARE MOCK ME," Midnight roared. "WHEN THE UNIVERSE WILL FADE AWAY FROM YOUR IGNORANCE!!!"
"Wow, you love hearing yourself talk," Twilight retorted. "Now if you excuse me, I like to return to Odym now."
"WHERE ARE YOU GOING, DON'T YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON ME, YOU LOOK AT ME AND FEAR ME! YOU WILL FEAR ME!" Midnight shrieked with hatred.
Suddenly, a portal opened in the void as Twilight turned to look at the portal, a Black ring came out of the portal.
"Aww, so Necron heard my cries after all," Midnight said with a face of demented glee as the ring approached her.
"Midnight Sparkle of Earth-535," The Black Ring said. "RISE!"
"Wait, Midnight, what are you doing," Twilight said in shock.
"Fulfilling my destiny, you ignorant child, for very soon the universe will be covered by the light of Death, and it will be mine to rule!" Midnight cackled in triumph as the ring went into her right hand.
"The Blackest Night falls from the skies, The darkness grows as all light dies, We crave your hearts and your demise, By his black hand, the dead shall rise!" Midnight roared as the ring transformed her into a Black Lantern.
Midnight's eyes turned black with Purple pupils, and her Flaming glasses and wings also turned into a bright Black color as her transformation completed. It even turned her skin black and caused it to crack in various places.
"Now, I don't need you anymore, now that the Black Lantern Corp's ring has granted me a physical body." Midnight said in triumph. And here's my ticket out of this void of nothingness that you imprisoned me in for so long. See you in your Nightmares, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!" Midnight said as she left for Ryut.
When Twilight regained consciousness, she saw Sunset and Pinkie checking up on her.
"Hey Twi, you alright," Sunset asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Twilight said as she got back on her feet. "Wow, what a Nightmare. Did I miss anything?"
"Well, you kinda missed the big speech Ganthet made about Blue-Lantern responsibilities and telling us about the whole Blackest Night thing," Sunset said.
"Oh, so not much I suppose," Twilight said. "That's good to hear. So are we supposed to be doing some sorta training regimens or something like that?"
"Not exactly," Sunset said. "Just a lot of Meditation sessions and other regimens to help keep your hope up."
"Oh alright, wasn't expecting something like that," Twilight said as she sat on a rock to meditate.
As Sunset wondered what her ring could do, she heard someone behind her, "Well well, it looks like I'm now not the only Equestrian to be a Blue Lantern."
Sunset turned around only to see a woman staring back at her.
"An Equestrian," Sunset said in confusion. Suddenly, Sunset saw the Gemstone around the woman's neck. "You're a Siren?"
"Yes, I am Queen Neptunia," Neptunia stated as she introduced herself. "I am the Queen of the Siren Race."
"Wow, I didn't expect someone like a Siren to wield the power of hope," Sunset said to Neptunia.
"You must have encountered my three daughters before, haven't you," Neptunia said with a calming smile.
"Wait a minute, you're the Dazzling's mother," Sunset said in shock.
"Yes, now that you know about my daughter, I think it is now time for me to tell you my whole story," Neptunia said while Sunset listened. "You see, the Sirens were not always evil. We lived under Equestria's oceans for many years."
"We also used our Gemstones to absorb positive energy, making ponies full of happiness," Neptunia said. "That was until King Poseidra went into power, and either killed or enslaved all who opposed his authority. He ruled through fear with an iron-fist, and forced me to have children so he could have an heir to his throne."
"Poseidra was like this, because he used his Gemstone to absorb negative energy, making ponies go into anger fits," Neptunia said. "However, sirens that absorb energy would go mad within months."
"His hatred for Ponies was caused by not only the racist comments that Chancellor Neighsay and his friends called us but also because of the pollution that was poisoning our oceans, by which Princess Celestia did nothing to help but instead told us to leave Canterlot and to not cause problems for her anymore," Neptunia said.
"How it was one fateful day, as my daughters were still pups, that was when the Man-Hunters came and drove my people to near extinction, once again, no help came from Princess Celestia that day, nor any day since," Neptunia sadly said. "My husband King Poseidra abandoned his people like the coward he was."
"My daughters wanted revenge, and that is why they attacked Star-Swirl the Bearded and his group," Neptunia said. "And that resulted in their banishment to the human world."
"Then Princess Luna in a blind rage told the rest of us to leave and never return to Ponyville," Neptunia said.
"Many wanted to give up, but I told them that we could never give up on the hope that the Ponies would one day accept us into Ponyville," Neptunia said. "Then Odym's Blue Ring sensed my hope and chose me to be the first Siren Blue Lantern."
"And the rest is history," Neptunia said.
"I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that," Sunset said in sorrow. "What happened to Poseidra?"
"The Yellow Ring of the Sinestro Corp found him, and decreed him a Yellow Lantern," Neptunia said.
"I hope to one day return to Equestria and Liberate my people from Poseidra's tyranny," Neptunia said.
"Hmm, I hope you're daughters aren't in too much trouble," Sunset said.
Suddenly, Sunset's ring started blinking, and as she made a construct of a map, saw a green dot heading straight for Odym at fast speeds."
"I'm detecting something, Ganthet what is it," Sunset asked the Blue Lantern Guardian.
"It appears to be a ship of Green Lantern Origin," Ganthet said as the ship came into view and crashed.
"Green Lantern," Sunset asked in confusion.
"Just as the Blue Lanterns are powered by hope, The Green Lanterns use the Green Light of Will-Power," Ganthet replied.
As Sunset, Twilight, and Wallflower went to investigate, they saw two familiar faces who were unconscious on the ship.
"Rainbow-Dash, Applejack," Sunset said in shock as they took their friends out of the ship to heal their wounds.
(Meanwhile, on Ysmalt)
Two red Lantern's, Zox and Skallox were to keep a rampaging Aria restrained long enough to go into the Blood Lake.
"How long will this take, Zillias," Atrocitus asked sternly.
"We're trying our best master, but she is very feisty," Zox said as he and Skallox lowered Aria into the Blood Lake.
At first, nothing happened, but then, Aria burst out from the blood lake, gasping for air.
"Aggh, I feel like I just got acid injected into my bloodstream," Aria wailed.
"Welcome to Ysmalt, new Red Lantern," Zox stated. "You are now the newest soldier working for the righteous crusade of Atrocitus."
"What do you mean what righteous crusade," Aria roared.
"The Righteous Crusade against the guardians," Atrocitus proclaimed. "Anger, hatred, vengeance, that is why the ring of a Red Lantern chose you, Aria Blaze of Equestria."
"Here, let me tell you our story, I would pay close attention if I were you," Atrocitus said.
"In this part of our planet represents the Capital of Ysmalt, it could be any city or sector in our ravaged galaxy, and then The Guardians descended upon us," Atrocitus proclaimed. "They said that they would bring peace and order, but as the book of rage foretells, lies drawn in through their mouths."
"They said kneel before us and you will want for nothing, but we would not worship them, and their wrath was deep and terrible," Atrocitus said. "The Blue Devils unleashed their Man-Hunters, as the Guardian's soulless avengers snuffed out every life, stealing every breath, and instilling every heart."
"It was through my unholy hate that bore the first fruit of a Red Lantern," Atrocitus proclaimed. "I, your Lord Atrocitus of the five inversions."
"Now, by our Red Lantern's light, we will punish the Guardians and their creations for what they have done," Atrocitus said. "Join my crusade, and we can destroy evil together."
"What's stopping me from taking this thing off," Aria said as she tried to remove her ring.
"I wouldn't advise that, once you have your ring, you can never take it off," Atrocitus stated. "That ring is your lifeline, and if you take it off, you won't survive for half a minute."
"Also, the Man-Hunters were the ones that drove your species to near extinction," Atrocitus revealed.
"Ugh, very well, Lord Atrocitus, I will join your righteous crusade, destroy the Man-Hunters and the Guardians, and take my revenge on those who have wronged me for so long," Aria said as her eyes glowed red with rage.
"Very good, Aria Blaze of Equestria, you will be a great pawn in the Guardians' utter destruction, Atrocitus roared with laughter as Aria recited the oath of the Red Lantern Corps. "With blood and rage of crimson red, Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead, Together with our hellish hate, We'll burn you all--that is your fate!"
(Meanwhile, in Equestria, in Canterlot Castle and King Sombra's Abandoned Strong-Hold in the Crystal Empire, and in the Human World).
A Swarm of Black rings descended upon the land as they went to their targets.
