Shelter from the rain

Shelter from the rain

The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and animals were minding their own business. Enjoying this wonderful day was Fluttershy and Discord as they were walking together, the pegasus carrying a basket.

Discord saw how today was lovely and suggested to Fluttershy that they have a picnic together. Fluttershy thought it was a fine idea. So, they got together some food they could eat together, a nice cloth for them to sit on as they eat, and some books that Fluttershy brought in case they wanted to read.

As they searched for a good spot to have their picnic, Discord smiled as he looked at the pegasus. He was glad that Fluttershy wanted to have a picnic with him and he was going to make sure that it would be perfect for her.

Just then, a drop of water landed on Discord's head. Feeling the drop on his head, the draconequus was confused as to what just happened.

"Uh, Fluttershy?" he asked.

"Yes?" Fluttershy asked, wondering what her friend wanted to ask.

"Did you feel any drops of water land on your head just now?"

The pegasus raises an eyebrow. "No. I don't feel anything. Why do you ask?"

Before Discord could snswer, a couple of drops landed on Fluttershy's nose, catching the pegasus by surprise before they both looked up at the sky. It was at that moment that thunder and lightning was heard when it began to rain. Fluttershy and Discord felt the drops of rain land on them and it began to pour.

Holding onto the basket, Fluttershy looked at Discord. "We should look for shelter. It wouldn't be safe for us to be out here with all this thunder and lightning."

Discord knew she was right. If they were to find a tree, it would give them a place to dry. However, it would get shocked by lightning and that meant that it would happen to them as well.

Looking around, Discord found a nearby cave. It was big enough for them to fit in.

Pointing a claw at the cave, he said, "There's a cave nearby. That's big enough for both of us."

Immediately, they headed for the cave. As the wind blew against her, Fluttershy felt herself being blown away as she lost her grip of the basket. She was terrified about what was happening to her that she didn't think of using her wings. She would have been blown away if Discord hadn't grabbed her while using his tail to hold onto the basket.

Holding her close to him, Discord said, "It's okay. I got you. No storm's blowing you away from me."

As he continued to head for the cave, Fluttershy clutch herself to Discord, not wanting to get blown away again. She felt safe and secure in Discord's arms.

Finally, they reach the cave and head inside. Once they were inside the cave, Discord noticed that Fluttershy was still clinging onto him as she shivered.

Speaking in a gentle voice, Discord says, "It's okay now. We're inside the cave."

Fluttershy opens one eye and sees that they were inside. By the looks of the cave, there saw enough room for them to be in while the storm continued. Once Discord puts her down on the ground, Fluttershy shook her fur until she was dry. As she was drying herself, Discord uses his tail to place the basket on the ground as he seemed quiet for some reason. Then, without saying a word, he quietly walks off by himself.

As soon she was all dry, Fluttershy smiled. "Well, that sudden change in the weather did take me by surprise." She said. "But at least we were able to find this cave so we can be dry until this storms ends. Right, Discord?" She waited for Discord to reply, but she heard nothing. Turning her head, she saw that the draconequus was no longer beside her. "Discord?"

In a part of the cave, Discord was sitting by himself, feeling depressed. He was thinking about how things turned out unexpected all of a sudden. First, things were looking good for him and Fluttershy as they were going out for the picnic that he thought they could enjoy. But then there was a sudden change in the weather and now it was raining. Discord felt that the plans he thought of for him and Fluttershy were ruined.

He was in the middle of his depression when Fluttershy spotted him. He didn't hear the soft sound of hooves approach him while he was moping until he felt a light touch on his shoulder that got his attention.

"Discord?"

Hearing her voice, Discord looked up and saw Fluttershy standing beside him. He just lowered his head as he turned away from the pegasus.

"Oh. Hey, Fluttershy."

Noticing the sad expression on the draconequus' face, Fluttershy approached him. She knew something was bothering her friend and she wanted to know.

"Is something wrong, Discord?" she asked.

Discord sighed before he spoke. "I'm sorry, Fluttershy. I wanted today to be perfect for our picnic, just you and me. But then comes this rain and it ruins everything. Instead of being out in the sun and enjoying our picnic, we're now in this cave instead. You're probably upset about this and don't want to talk to me right now."

He continued to mope while the pegasus just watched. Then she sat down beside the draconequus and place a hoof on his paw.

"I'm not upset at all."

Hearing those word coming from the pegasus, Discord looked at her in surprise. He didn't expect her to say that she was not upset about the rain ruining their picnic and how they had to find shelter in a cave.

"You're not?"

Fluttershy nodded. "These things happen whether we know it or not."

She sat down beside him and nuzzled against him. "I will admit, it was very brave of you to save me from the wind blowing me away."

As she continued to snuggle against him, Discord blushed as he stroked her mane. "Oh. Well, I guess that was brave of me."

"Besides," Fluttershy explained. "We can still have our picnic in this cave while it's still raining."

"Really?" Discord asked.

"Of course. We can enjoy our picnic until the rain ends."

A few moments later, the two of them had set up their picnic. After enjoying some of the food they had brought with them, Fluttershy and Discord were enjoying their time reading some books. They used the cloth as a blanket to keep them warm while it rained outside.

As they were reading, Fluttershy snuggled against Discord's fur, enjoying the warmth. Discord gently placed a paw beside her, moving her closer to him. The two of them paid no attention to the rain outside the cave as they enjoyed their picnic together.
