When Visits Go Wrong

A Sudden Invitation

It was a normal winter day in Ponyville. The birds were chirping, the animals were hibernating, and Twilight was reading peacefully in her little library.

It was the perfect winter day for her to do some reading and finish up her almost endless list of books. It was quite windy outside and the air was colder than ever, thus giving Twilight the perfect opportunity to read in silence.

But before she could finish reading one of her books she would hear-

THUD!

That.

The unicorn would quickly run over to the door to see what was going on, before realizing what probably caused that thud.

And with a small creak of the door she would be proven right.

It was Derpy! With her mail carrier on her.

“Sorry, Twilight,” Derpy said as she got up and brushed herself off.

“Oh, it's not a big deal!” Twilight said. It had practically become a routine for Derpy to crash in with her weekly mail delivery, almost always crashing somewhere near her house.

It was an anomaly on how Derpy always came out with barely any bruises, but before Twilight could think about it her train of thought would be interrupted by a slight nudge from Derpy.

“Here you go, Twilight!” Derpy said before rummaging through her mail carrier and taking out five envelopes and a few magazines with her mouth.

“Ah! Thank you, Derpy!” Twilight would say as she levitated the items out of her maw.

“Oh, it's nothing! You have a good day Miss Twilight!” Derpy said with a wave and a smile as she flew off.

“You too!” Twilight would shout before waving back.

She then would go back into her house, curious about what she had got this week.

She would place down the items on her table and check them out, almost all of them being the same except one.

With closer inspection she would notice who this was from, her eyes widening as she read the name.

‘From Moondancer.’

Ok, yes she may have rekindled her relationship with Moondancer but…

There was something about her that made Twilight's heart want to jump out of its chest and her face go red in… whatever feeling this was!

She would quickly try to hide these thoughts, ‘Nothing bad is going to happen Twilight..’ She thought as she ripped open the thin, glossy envelope.

She then would open up the long letter inside it, and it read as so.

‘I was wondering if You could hang out with me and the rest of our friends for a few days. We were just gonna go check out a few places and I thought it would be great if you came, we were thinking about going tomorrow… only if you want to, though.’

‘From, Moondancer.’

This made Twilight even more worried; she had definitely not expected this and it only made that feeling in her chest worse.

She tried to wonder what she would do, or she would if it wasn't for Spike finally walking downstairs, completely snapping her out of her nervous trance with a small wave.

“Heyy Twilight..” Spike had drowsily said, almost immediately noticing her not so happy expression.

“What's wrong?”Spike said as he walked over to Twilight to get a closer look.

“OH! It's nothing Spike! Shouldn't you be in bed by now?” She would say, a small line of sweat starting to flow down Twilight's forehead.

“Twilight… It's 8 AM.” Spike said with an eyebrow raised.

With a sigh and a small blush... She would finally reveal the truth.

“Well… it's about Moondancer, she wants me to come back to Canterlot for a few days and hang out with the rest of my Canterlot friends there, but I keep getting this weird warm feeling whenever I hear about her and… I don’t know why!” Twilight would blurt out.

It would take a bit for Spike to process what she had said, but when he did he let out a small That's It?” with an unamused face.
Twilight would nod, a slightly annoyed expression appearing on her face as she realized what he had said.

“It's just, I don't know if I should go or not! On one hoof if I don't come Moondancer might get mad again, but if I do come what if my feelings get in the way of our friendship and having a good time! What if she notices it and gains those same feelings too!” Twilight would blurt out again, hoping this would get Spike to understand.

Spike would take a sigh as his expression would soften after hearing the rest of Twilights ramble.

“Look... I may not have been there but Moondancer has changed! And I bet she wouldn't get mad over you not coming! ” Spike said.

“If you feel uncomfortable being around her just send a letter saying no, it's your choice.” Spike would add.

This would put Twilight at ease, a sigh of relief coming out of her as she listened.

“I’ll… try to think about it, thank you Spike.” Twilight said, a small smile forming as she went to get a glass of water.

“Glad I could help.” Spike would say, a smile of his own appearing as he grabbed one of the books near the shelves and started to read.

“Hey, shouldn't you have taken your bath by now? I didn't hear any water running.” Twilight would say, her voice half teasing and half serious.

“Darn,” Spike muttered under his breath as he walked back up the steps.

A small breath would come out of Twilight as she watched him walk up the steps, now she could try to... Think more clearly about the situation.

Yeah, Spike's words had helped her relax.. but apart of Twilight was still worrying.

‘She didn't want to leave Moondancer again, but maybe she needed to put more strength in here, she's surely grown from that day, and… so have you!’ Twilight thought as she started to pace around the room.

‘That still doesn't explain that weird feeling I get around her… Maybe I'm just, still getting used to that whole… party incident... Yeah! Maybe I should get out of my shell and… do this... Thing.” Twilight thought, trying to get rid of those more.. unsure thoughts out of her head.

“It's just a strange… heart melting… face redding… feeling, what's the worse that could... Happen!”

And with those thoughts in mind, she had made her decision… She was gonna hang out with Moondancer.
