The Beginning

Chapter 1

Darkness. Darkness was the only thing that could be seen. There was no sun in the sky to brighten up the cracked path beneath her feet. The lanterns provided no use as they had to been destroyed, smashed to pieces during the fight that had only finished mere seconds ago. The sky was hidden behind streams of smoke that drifted from the remains of the villages cottages, having being burned to ashes and torn down mercilessly. The grass was no longer green instead it had turned the colour of charcoal, the dirt had been churned up and scattered over the path which was also littered with weapons and the bodies of her people.

She stood rigged at the site. Eyes darting around the place searching for someone, anyone that could still be alive. She had witnessed the destruction. The massacre that had taken place that day. She had escaped within an inch of her life after getting stuck in the remains of her home, if it could even be called that. She stood at the top of the hill, fear flowing throughout her body.

Then she spotted her. Away, far into the distance was a woman.

She stood tall only in a way one with intense power and knowledge would. Her hair moved freely in the harsh wind. It was an unnatural colour, the top of it being as black as night but the tips lightened to a beautiful blonde. As the woman was standing so far away, on the opposite side of the village to be exact, she could not make out the details of her face but knew that it would be old and mysterious. Her choice of clothing without a doubt was the armour of a soldier. A dark grey chest plate wrapped around her upper torso with a baby blue crystal placed delicately into the middle of it. The crystal emitted a glow that she almost couldn’t take her eyes off off but managed to move them away. She wore a long skirt, the colour of snow. It draped down to her ankles and it was covered with hundreds of jewels all ranging in size. Her feet were being protected from the dry ground by sandals that only the noble families in the village would of worn.

After sparing another look at the woman, she noticed that there was someone else laying beside her looking weak and broken. This sparked something in their mind and they ran. These people could help her, save her even! She ran all the way down the hill and through the desolate remains of her village, past the old farmyard and going down the winding path until

She came face to face with the woman and

the young child next

to her .. . Who looked exactly like her.

and now she’s falling

and falling

and.

She woke up with a start. Sweat trickled down her forehead as she located the sound of the irritating ringing. Same nightmare, each and every night. It never surprised Sunset anymore but she still always woke up shocked. She ran her hand through her bright red and yellow hair flattening it out. The ringing had been her phone it seemed, so Sunset picked it up and got ready for the annoying squeaky voice to shout at her.

“ Sunny, you actually answered!!” Pinkie’s voice squealed down the line. Of course Pinkie wasn’t her actual name but she refused to let anyone else call her anything different. Considering her wardrobe consisted of multiple shades of pink and how her personality was one of the brightest in the group it was quite fitting.

“Yes. I’m here. What do you want?” Sunset grumbled. It was too early for this and she really didn’t want to have to deal with Pinkie and whatever idea she had for them and the girls today. Each and every day Pinkie would rope her into doing some boring activity with her and the girls seemingly thinking that whatever it was would magically make them all become the best of friends.

“Weeeeelllll. I was thinking that me and you know everyone else after school could go out to the mall and go shopping, try on new outfits, stuff our faces with chocolate!! Ooh ooh we could-“ Sunset wasn’t even listening at this point as Pinkie rambled down the phone about all they could do. She zoned out listening to the faint chirping of the birds outside the rustling of the leaves when the wind blew by. The day was calm, unlike Sunsets mood. Pinkie still hasn’t stopped talking. She wondered if Pinkie was even capable of not talking or if she had to always nonstop speak. Sunset guessed it was the second option.

“So whadoyathink?” Pinkie spoke quickly. She was obviously chewing on some sweet so her words came out mushed together. Sunset thought about it. What does she even get out of going to these events? Every single time she had been convinced to going to one of them thinking that it would be alright and that, maybe, she would enjoy herself even just a little bit, she hadn’t. There wasn’t a single thing she had done with the girls that made her feel the slightest bit happy. So she thought for a moment if it was really worth going and the answer that popped into her head was no.

”No thanks Pinkie I’m not really feeling it.” Sunset uttered blankly.

“What? But we’d all really, really want you to be there and- oh we can go to that music shop that you love so much. In fact I think Rainbow also really wants to go there!” Pinkie really wasn’t going to back down on this one.

“Fine. I’ll come along for an hour.” Sunset groaned. Even after her big internal monologue about not wanting to go be dragged into going, she had been.

“OMG that’s great I’ll see you in like 45 minutes yeah?!” That last part must of been rhetorical considering Pinkie automatically hung up right after.

“Right well.. 45 minutes… yeah.. great..”
