No one knows where the thorns of stone came from, or why. Ever since they were discovered atop the mountain many years ago, no one has been able to discern their purpose. Testing has shown that they are at least several thousand years old, dating back to when ponies walked this world.
There are many who want to investigate these thorns further. They must have been put there for a reason, as there are no other formations like them in the world. Most believe that there is something of great value there, some fabulous treasure that ponykind did not want anyone to have. But until any conclusions can be made, the site remains off-limits as our scientists and researchers study the thorns, eager to learn their purpose.
I do not share their enthusiasm.
I am one of the few who believe that the thorns are not there to protect treasure from grave robbers, but to protect us from something dangerous, something that should not be dug up. Few listen to me, but I will not give up, for one thought scares me above all others:
If those thorns are warning us to stay away... then what exactly is buried beneath them?
