As the group traversed through the fields, Sonic was impressed by how much helpful the ponies and dragon now teamed up with him seemed to be.
Rainbow Dash seemed almost as fast as him and was able to break the animals free without any trouble, Twilight and Starlight apparently had super powerful magic and were able to use it to their advantage to free the animals, carefully of course, and even if Spike was the smallest dragon ever, he had a good amount of fire breath.
The only pony who seemed to be the closest to being a weak link was Fluttershy, but even then, she was at least able to free some animals pretty well.
“Phew. We are on fire!” Starlight huffed and puffed quickly, “You sure this Eggman is a threat?” She asked teasingly even if she already knew the answer.
“He is, but it kinda helps I had super powerful ponies on my side.” Sonic scoffed with a smirk.
“Ahem.” Spike rolled his eyes.
“Oh sorry, and dragon.” Sonic chuckled sheepishly which Spike smiled at.
“So where should we go next?” Rainbow Dash asked with a smirk, “Because I’m totally down to kick some more robot butt.”
“Well we might as well continue ahead.” Sonic told the group, “After all, we gotta catch up to Eggman.”
Little did they know, a certain purple lanky creature was spying on the group and smirked, “Hehehehehehehe. They’re so pathetic. I GOTTA FIGHT THEM!” Zazz shouted before Zavok walked over and clenched his mouth shut.
“Keep your mouth shut.” Zavok spoke harshly.
“Can’t I just sic ‘em already?” Zazz asked curiously.
“No!” Zavok said sternly before putting a finger to his chin, “We are merely observing our foes, and it appears that Sonic is not the only one who opposes us.”
“Uh… I thought that was clear already.” Zazz raised an eyebrow.
“Ugh. You know what I mean. Those candy coated ponies are clearly allied with Sonic. No matter, they won’t be a problem for now.” Zavok scoffed before walking off, “Let’s go Zazz. Our master is waiting for us.” He said with venom before he ran off with Zazz following.
We then see Sonic, Twilight, and the others inside the cave as Starlight and Twilight used their horns to light the way.
“Are you sure we have to go through here?” Fluttershy asked fearfully, “It is pretty dark in here.”
“Well, we gotta find Eggman one way or another.” Sonic told the pegasus, “This was the only way we could go.”
“I guess…” Fluttershy sighed as she continued laughing.
Suddenly a rumbling sound was heard, much to everyone’s shock.
“Tell me that was your stomach.” Starlight gulped to Spike fearfully.
“Nope.” Spike squeaked out.
Suddenly gigantic rocks began rolling towards the group, to which they all began dodging quickly, and continued down the path. Spike, Starlight, Rainbow Dash, Twilight, and Sonic all made it across the boulders quite fine; it was a bit of a struggle but they managed to overcome that pathway. However…
“Wait? Where’s Fluttershy?” Rainbow Dash asked in fear.
Fluttershy was just barely dodging boulders as she tried to make it to the group, and soon a boulder began to tumble near her… when suddenly it broke and Sonic soon picked her up and quickly ran over to the the rest of the group and away from the boulders.
“Phew. That was a close one.” Sonic said in relief.
“I’ll say.” Fluttershy smiled gratefully, “Thank you for saving me.”
Sonic smiled and waved it off, “Eh. No problem. It’s what I do.”
“How’d you break through solid rock?” Spike asked, clearly impressed.
“Combine speed with strength and basically that’s how it works.” Sonic explained neutrally.
Rainbow Dash soon saw the light at the end of the cave, “I see daylight. Come on!”
The group of heroes began to follow Rainbow Dash as she headed for the exit.
Once they reached the end of the cave, they saw that Eggman was to the left of them with his Egg Mobile.
“There he is.” Sonic said with a narrowed gaze before he ran off to the left and soon the ponies and Spike followed him and soon they saw Eggman with Zavok, Zazz, and four other monsters, one was fat and had orange skin, one was elderly with a brown staff and blue skin, another was female with green hair and skin, and finally one had brooding purple hair and had grey skin.
“Hey! We’ve been looking for you Baldy McNose Hair. Who are your friends?” Sonic asked angrily as Eggman turned his machine around and raised an angered eyebrow, “Friends?! These are nobody’s friends! They are the Deadly Six! And they are your worst enemies! Although, I must ask, who are your friends?”
“We’re just four ponies and a dragon. Either way, you’re going down Eggman.” Twilight said sternly.
“Hmm, so it’s gonna be that way huh?” Eggman said with a narrowed gaze, “Hmph, it hardly matters.”
“Zazz, show these pests how you do things here.” Eggman told the craziest member of the pact.
“With pleasure.” Zazz smirks as he begins to confront Sonic, “I’ve been itching for a fight all day.”
“I think you’re itching because you need a bath.” Sonic scoffed with a smirk to which Zazz sniffed himself before growling threateningly, “Are you disrespecting me?!”
“Maybe.” Sonic smirked before Zazz growled even more, “I’m gonna mess you up.”
“I'd love to stay and watch him disassemble you, but I have business to attend to.” Eggman spoke before leaving with his Egg Mobile, with the rest of the Zeti following.
Zazz smirks before saying, “Let’s get this started.”
He then clapped his hands and then a giant yellow ball with an angry face appeared and Zazz rode on top of it and began shooting yellow beams out of it.
Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash immediately dodged while Twilight flew past it and blasted Zazz from above, causing him to falter but stay on the orb. However; he didn’t expect another beam of magic from Starlight so he ended up falling off.
Rainbow Dash immediately sent a punch towards Zazz and caused him to fall back.
Zazz only got angrier and began to tackle the cyan pegasus, the two began to struggle before Sonic used a homing attack on him, forcing the Zeti to get off her.
Zazz soon jumped back to his giant yellow orb and threw it at Fluttershy and Spike who got hit and fell back much to his delight, however once he got blasted by Twilight and Starlight once again, he realized he was outmatched and growled, “I can’t believe this!”
He soon jumped away from the field and Rainbow Dash laughed triumphantly, “Ye-e-e-ah. We did it!”
However, Twilight seemed more concerned about Spike and Fluttershy as she and Starlight helped them both up.
“I’m fine. It hurts a bit but not so bad.” Spike panted with a smile.
“Yeah, we’ll likely manage.” Fluttershy smiled reassuringly.
“We should probably get back to Tails with the airplane.” Sonic told the group, “If I know my friend, he’s definitely almost done at least.”
“Fair enough.” Twilight said nervously, “We should also hurry and get back to him before Eggman and those creatures do.”
“I’m sure he’ll be okay Twilight.” Starlight said with a warm smile but that did little to reassure the alicorn. If what Zazz did to Spike and Fluttershy was any indication, those Zeti were definitely not the merciful kind. She just hoped this quest wouldn’t be too difficult.
