//------------------------------// // B: Bond // Story: The Alphabet of Starlight and Twilight // by Starlight Fan //------------------------------// Twilight had always been questioned about her relationship with Starlight, after all, it was quite a phenomenon to see a Princess date a former villain of all creatures. Twilight knew the answer to that, it had something to do with their bond. Their bond ironically began during Starlight’s time travel stunt. Once she was able to get Starlight to reveal her motives for creating her village, she got a better understanding of how her mindset worked. Yes, she will admit, she did stop Starlight because of how she was about to rip the scroll but she would be lying if she said she didn’t understand what she was going through. After all, Starlight did lose her friend because of a cutie mark and childhood memories tend to stick. After taking Starlight in as her student, Twilight made sure not to give off an intimidating presence, and more of a friendly one. After all, she was teaching her friendship. Eventually, they began to bond over interests like magic, and appreciated each other’s interests. Starlight’s graduation was a stepping stone in their growing relationship, and quite honestly, she had to thank Discord for that. Ironic as it was. Starlight began to start feeling more comfortable around Twilight, and felt less nervous around her. It only made their bond stronger than it used to be. Twilight would still call Starlight out whenever she did something wrong but it didn’t deter from their actual bond. Pretty much any adversity the two faced they were able to come out okay, like when the Pony Of Shadows and the Pillars were brought back. The two had disagreed on whether it would be best to try and reform Stygian or not. Despite that, they came out okay. Heck, Twilight wasn’t the only one there for Starlight, Starlight had also been able to be there for Twilight too. Like when Twilight had opened the School Of Friendship, Starlight was able to help Twilight get the courage to do things her way despite the EEA trying to shut it down, using a pretty valid loophole too. Twilight felt that her bond with Starlight was a lot more strong than her other friends for some reason, it was weird to her but a good weird. She did want to know why she felt that way though, so she consulted Celestia about the idea, because she had been able to guide her for almost her whole life. When she consulted Celestia she had explained to her how Starlight made her feel like a swirl of emotions were going down her stomach and how her cheeks would start to heat up, let’s just say, Twilight probably should’ve recognized she fell for Starlight sooner. Celestia had a good laugh about that before telling her that Cadence would be better suited for helping her. Once she did get Cadence’s help, she was better able to explain that she was going through, which was love. When Twilight had figured this out, she was super worried, she wasn’t sure how to deal with this revelation. She was in love with one of her closest friends for pony’s sake. It felt so wrong and yet so right at the same time. Ultimately, she tried distancing herself around Starlight, not too much of course, she still wanted to be around her but to the point where she wouldn’t get a sudden urge to kiss her or something impulsive like that. However, Starlight did end up noticing this change of events and confronted Twilight about it in the library. “Twilight, I think we should talk.” Starlight said softly. “Okay… what is it Starlight?” Twilight asked curiously. “It’s just… I don’t know, I feel like you’re ignoring me.” Starlight sighed sadly. “Huh? I don’t ignore you. What gave you that crazy idea?” Twilight asked with a chuckle. “I get you haven’t been completely disregarding me, but you act more awkward, distance yourself a little more from me, and sometimes just leave the room whenever it’s just you and me for some reason.” Starlight explains solemnly, “Twilight, if you don’t want to see me constantly, that’s fine. I do have enough bits for my own place thanks to the School Of Friendship.” Twilight immediately knew she had to clear things up, she didn’t want to start having Starlight drift away from her. “Look Starlight. You’re not doing anything wrong, I…I’m in love with you!” Twilight blurted out before she could try and stop herself. Twilight looked to see Starlight was in shock and continued speaking, “Yeah, kinda shocking to hear come from me huh?” She laughed bitterly before speaking reassuringly, “It’s fine if you don’t feel the same. I get it.” To her surprise Starlight smiled sheepishly, “To be honest, it’s actually a relief to hear you say that. I was wondering what you were going to say if I confessed to you but now I know.” Twilight was shocked to see Starlight feel the same way so she spoke up, “You fell for me too. How is that possible? We were rivals at first.” “Honestly, I just feel a certain type of bond with you after our rivalry that I just can’t explain. You… probably wouldn’t get it.” Starlight blushed nervously. Twilight realized something, it all clicked to her. That’s why their relationship felt so special, they had this unspoken bond and solidarity that made them feel this way about each other. “Actually… I completely get it.” Twilight smiled as she lifted Starlight’s chin, she then smiled back at Twilight. So yeah, Twilight couldn’t completely explain the foundation of her relationship with Starlight, but what she did know is that she and Starlight certainly felt something special, and they had a unique and powerful bond to prove that.
