Nicholas & The Crystal Star

Prologue

Well, hello again.

It is that time of year again, isn't it?

Well come on in, wipe your hooves, and come and sit by the fireplace. It has been quite a while, and I did promise you all to tell you all about what happened the time I forgot my train ticket. What a story that was, and I had a big meeting in Canterlot. Well you see, it all started when I-

What? Oh, you haven't come over to hear that story? Well what story would you like me to tell you foals?

Aaaah, so you want to hear more about Nicholas do you? I guess I shouldn't be surprised, ponies often forget he was once living right here in Ponyville, and the little details that he was not a pony, he was human.

I suppose you remember all that, do you?

Well last time you all got to hear about his childhood. How he grew up in a caring home of his adoptive parents. How he befriended Applejack, and how he first came to deliver the first of his toys to all of Ponyville.

Quite the story, no?

Well, there is so much more to tell! Like how he met ponies like Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and the others. How he moved deep inside the Everfree forest to make his home among the elves that he befriended. How he made his workshops, and how he became the local legend of Ponyville.

All of that is just details, and far less important than what happened when Nicholas turned twenty. His life as he knew it would change forever, and it would transform him into the Nicholas we all know and love today. The jolly stallion that sweeps across the sky with his loyal reindeer, delivering presents to every good colt and filly in Equestria.

This is a story about magic, friendship, love, adventure, windigos, and of course, destiny.

So sit back, make yourselves comfortable, and sip on the hot coco you have been so kind to help yourself to from my kitchen apparently. Oh well... It is the season of giving I suppose!

Let us get started.

It all began a week before hearth's warming eve. For everypony in Ponyville, it seemed that hearth's warming would be pleasant, peaceful, and uneventful like always. Only, for a certain human that was far from the case. You see, lately Nicholas had been having these dreams at night. Strange dreams, about himself, and a certain crystal star...
