Chapter 1: This is my story




Someponies will trot through life with no surprises; no changes. They are born into a role and follow it blindly until they die, full of regrets. They achieve nothing substantial in life and they must carry this thought to the grave. Others must endure life's challenges and adapt to the changes that they are faced with day after day. These ponies can die with no regrets, happy and fulfilled. Sometimes you can be living the life you are given, and you are thrust unexpectedly into a position where the decision you make will affect everypony you know and love. I was one such pony.
My name is Sincerus, captain of the Emperor's royal guard and most respected of all New Canterlot nobility. Getting to where I am wasn't easy by any means. There was a time when I was faced with the consequences of my decisions and all hope seemed lost; a time where I could stare death down, unwavering, knowing that I'd at least die with the pony I loved. To say that things turned out 'better than expected' would be the understatement of the century!
This is a tale of hardships and triumphs; of truth and deceit; of love and loss. This is my story.
