Chapter 1

10 years later

“The young knight lit up his torch by using a spark of his unicorn magic and lit his way into the dark abyss. He continues with his journey, hoping to find his long-lost love. Each step he takes leaves nothing but echoes of the sound of his metal armor hitting against each other, and the sound of his heavy breathing. Drip, drip, drip. The sounds of water that were leaking down from the cave grew louder and louder. Out of curiosity, the brave knight looked up slowly and held his torch higher, only to find… A FLESH-EATING BAT!” Quickly the blue pegasus slammed down a small figure of the ferocious bat in front of his unicorn friend figure character.
From the force of slamming down the figure, the board, figure characters, pencils,  and everything else on the table jumped for a moment.
Snacks were half eaten and the table was covered with papers that were filled with notes and character rakes. Books were standing on each side of the table and some were laying or standing, taking the form of a castle. In the middle between the book castles and front of the pegasus, there stands a small figure of a unicorn Princess as she stands on a high tower, and an army of monsters standing in front of her.
Tonight was a special night for the two ponies. Tonight was their game night, “Legends and Knights.”
“NOOO!” the unicorn screamed as he pulled down his hair. “I was so close! SO CLOSE!”
“The beast jumped out from its hiding place,” the pegasus continued. “His eyes glowed red, and his fangs were sharp as the tip of the mountains. He was tall as a tree and his fur was bushy. The beast stared at you for a moment and roared! Making the cave shake like an earthquake! Ha-HA!” he smiled.
“Dagnabbit, I was right there!” the unicorn pointed at his small character figure, the knight, and stared at his best with rage. “I can’t keep this up while you’re over there cheating, Wonder!” He yelled.
“Hey, I’m not cheating, Pipe!” he responds with his normal voice. “This is just part of your story, oh Brave Rockhoof. And besides, didn’t you just say that you love a story with a lot of adventure, action, and romance? Well,” he grabbed a small figure of a unicorn princess. She had a long pink dress and her mane was the color of gold. “Maybe some romance.” he looked at Pipe but his friend quickly turned away as he hid his rosy cheeks.
“The Princess looks pretty, okay?”
Wonder continued to laugh and placed the Princess back at the top of the tower.

Pipe plays as the heroic knight which he named Rockhoof. He once told Wonder that the name came from a legendary hero. “A real hero.” It’s what he said.
He was an earth pony with an amazing amount of strength and used a shovel to fight and protect his home. For a moment Wonder thought that it was a weird story and how a hero would use a shovel to defend his home. Especially defeating a foe and banishing her into the stars, turning her into a constellation.
Although after hearing stories about their past, how they once had magic and were united, maybe stories from long ago wouldn't be a myth. Maybe…

“Right, right. You know, I don’t judge?” Wonder chuckles. “But you still got a long way to go, 'cause I’ve got plans for you, Rockhoof, and I can’t wait for the moment to arrive.” he gave his friend an evil grin and placed both his hooves together, then rubbed them. “And you will never get to the Princess. Never!” he began to laugh devilishly. Not his best evil laugh but it does give Pipe a little boost of confidence in him.
“Yes, I will! I will save the Princess and become the world's mightiest hero!” He smiled.
“Then let's begin,” he responded. Wonder grabbed his narrator book and an old evil wizard hat.
The hat had a few purple stitches and a few dirt stains that never came off for years, but that didn't disturb him. He used to be a wizard when he started playing this game, but being the narrator seemed more fun to play.
Wonder placed the hat on his head and continued with on the game. “As the creature roared, the cave shook violently and heavy stones began to fall on top of you! What do you do next!”
Pipe grabbed the 20-sided dice with both of his hooves and began to shake them, keeping the dice inside his hooves. He soon let go and the dice were rolling around the table. Their eyes focused on the dice, waiting for it to land on a number.

13

Pipe looked up at Wonder quickly and shouted “I use my protective shield to defend myself from the rocks!”
“You’ve defended yourself from the heavy rain! But it only lasted for a moment. You got really lucky, but the battle hasn’t ended yet! You’ve dropped your shield from the impact and the beast raised his claw, ready to swing and attack! What do you do next?”
Pipe grabbed the dice again and began to shake them inside his hooves. He sighed and stared into the eyes of the gigantic beast, focusing.
The bat creature was much stronger than Rockhoof and Pipe needed to roll a number that was above 15 to give damage to the creature. If he’s lucky, of course. But it would be a miracle if the dice got to 20, which it’s the highest number and most effective in the game.
“Come on, Oh Brave Rockhoof, don’t fail me!” Pipe whispered to himself and he finally let go of the dice.
The two friends stared at the dice, quietly, and it almost felt like an eternity 'til it landed on a number. The air was intense and Wonder’s heart was racing.

3…2…9…12-

The door burst open and there stood Wonder’s youngest sister, Sassy Nancy. Her coat was bright and her mane was held back with two ponytails on each side of her face. Her wings were the shade of purple and they were glowing brightly from the reflection of the room lamps.
The sound of the door hitting against the wall startled the boys and accidentally hit themselves against the table, making everything shake and jump. A few papers, pencils, and snacks fell off the table, and so did the dice.
Wonder wizard hat falls off of him and he stares at his young sister with fear and rage.
“What the heck, Nance?!” he shouted at her.
“I’ve been trying to call you guys so many times! Now you’ve got 5 minutes to fix yourself, eat, and get ready for school!!” She left the room and slammed the door behind her, leaving them a complete mess.
What does she mean by “School?”  Wonder questioned in his head, but he brushed off the question and looked back at the table, and noticed that the dice wasn’t there. He searched around the table and he moved their notes and figures around, trying to search for the dice, but couldn’t find them. He began to panic.
Pipe looked back at the table and asked “What did I make?” But he noticed that the dice weren't there on the table and saw that his friend was looking for them. He began to panic. “Where are they?” He began to search around the table and then to the floor.
“I don’t know! They’re not on the table!” Wonder screamed.
“Well, did it fall on the floor?!”
“I don’t know!” He searched along with Pipe on the floor and moved papers and figures away but he couldn’t find the dice. The only thing that he found was dust and a few crumbles from their snacks.
He continued to search until something caught his attention, his phone. He grabbed his phone and out of curiosity he turned it on and stared at the screen. His eyes widened.
7;15 in the morning! How long have we’ve been playing last night?! I can’t believe we’ve wasted our Sunday! Wonder called out for his friend.
“Pipe!”
A small thump was heard and Pipe screamed, but only for a second. Pipe got up from the floor and he began to rub the back of his head. He faced his friend and spoke.
“What?” He spoked.
“It’s Monday!”
Pipe’s eyes widened.
“What?!”
“IT’S MONDAY! Forget the dice, we gotta go!” Wonder ran towards his gray messenger bag that was hung next to the door and grabbed it, placing it on him. He ran back to the table and quickly placed folders and a few books that were standing up and shoved them into his bag, not caring about the mess and the disorganization.
“How long have we been playing?!” Pipe quickly got up to look for his bag and his phone.
“Apparently all night!” he responded, continuing to rush.
“All night! That’s impossible! We’ve been only playing for a few hours!”
“Yeah, that’s what it felt like, but no. We’ve been in here all night! Oh, man…”
Pipe found his phone, it was laying face down on the table. It was on top of their game notes. He quickly turned it on, only to find 37 missed calls from his mom. Pipe grunts and his ears flopped down. He already knew that he was going to be in trouble for not answering the phone, but for now, they’re going to have to wait for a little bit longer for Pipe to call them back. Sorry Mom, Pipe thought.
He looked back to his friend and spoke.
“I can’t believe I have 30 missed calls from my Mom.” Pipe has finally found his red messenger bag.
Wonder quickly looked at his friend in shock.
“30 missed calls?! Was your phone on silent?!”
“I mean, I didn’t mean to! I was just so distracted by our game! And plus, you told me to silence my phone when we were starting! So don’t blame this on me, Wonder!”
Wonder sighed and closed his bag tightly, making sure that nothing would fall off.
“I don’t have time for this, we gotta go now!” He walks past his friend and stands in front of the door, waiting for Pipe to grab his stuff. “Come on!”
“I’m trying!” Pipe screamed as he’s trying to shove his books and folders into his bag. He closed his bag and ran towards Wonder.
His pegasus friend opened the door and Pipe quickly rushed out of the room, and Wonder followed him as he closed the door behind him.
But what they didn’t know was that the dice were hiding underneath where Wonder was sitting, and the dice were faced up, leaving a number facing the bottom of Wonder’s seat.
