Prologue

I’ve heard a lot of news about how a few earth ponies were roaming around our home in Zephyr Heights and when everypony heard about that news, everypony panicked as they shut their doors and locked their windows, thinking that the earth ponies and the unicorns are going to fry and eat our brains.

But I’ve also heard rumors that one of the ponies was trying to get us to reunite again and bring back the magic that we’d lost once. Sunny, that was the earth pony's name. And wouldn’t you know it, she brought back the magic! She even made new friends along the way of her adventure.

I still remember the first day when Sunny brought back the magic. The unicorn’s horns would glow and sparkle as they cheer “The magic is real! The magic is back!”

Everypony’s wings in Zephyr Heights began to glow so brightly and colorful, including my wings. I felt a strong energy, almost like a force around my wings as it slowly went into my heart and the bottom of my hooves. I saw my parents' wings glowing as well and they began to flap them, only taking them off the ground. Laughter fills the air as so many pegasus, young and old fly around as they shout “we can fly!”

I wanted to join the rest of the ponies and my parents. Excitedly I began to flap my wings and took a leap of faith. But nothing happened.

I fell so hard to the ground to the point I nearly cried from the pain. I looked up and saw that I wasn’t in the air, I was still on the floor. I jumped again and this time I’ve flap my wings harder and fell again.

What’s going on? Isn’t the magic working? I thought. I glanced at my wings and saw that they were still glowing. This should mean that I have magic within me, right? If so, then why aren’t I flying? I can fly, right?

I continued to flap my wings over and over again but it was not getting me off the ground, and I began to shout at my parents “wait! Wait for me!” But they couldn’t hear me through the sounds of their laughter and everypony’s cheers. I jumped and jumped “Wait! Mom, Dad! Wait…wait…wait for me…” I stopped and stood still and stared at all the pegasus that was flying up in the sky. Flying all over this beautiful bright city.

And I stood here alone on the ground, crying.
