Chapter 1: The Life of the Reformed Magician

The ponies in the audience were cheering out of pure delight. Several hooves were stomping on the ground, making the sound like a herd of buffalos stampeding through the way.

Trixie relished the sound. Another magic trick that worked wonders. And it was all thanks to her, and of course, her best friend and assistant, Starlight Glimmer, that pulled off the feat.

"We did it!" Trixie said to lilac mare. "The Great and Powerful Trixie has done it again! With the help of a great and powerful friend!" she said as she wrapped a hoof around Starlight's neck.

"Oh, Trixie. You did most of the work." Starlight said humbly. "I was there to make sure that nothing goes wrong."

"Trixie thinks that that's nonsense!" Trixie silenced Starlight in a playful manner. "I could've done the trick just fine on my own. And besides, you helped rile up the ponies up to suspense with your natural charisma!"

Starlight chuckled a little bit. "That's not how I would put it, but sure!"

Trixie rolled her eyes playfully.

Starlight and Trixie poked their heads out of the curtians. The ponies were still in the audience. They were just talking to their nearby friends and family, commenting on Trixie's performance.

"Wow, Trixie never fails to impress." One pony in a crowd said to their friend.

"You can say that again!" A pony agreed.

"Makes you think how much she has changed." A pony responded back. Which the reply made Trixie smile.

"You know," Trixie said after listening to the audience. "I'm glad that I changed from the pony that I used to be."

Starlight looked taken aback by the sudden topic. "Oh?"

"Because if I hadn't, then I don't think I would be able to experience the joy and happiness I put in to entertain others. While in my past, I only did it to entertain myself and be a show off." she lowered her ears in shame.

How could she forget the day that she was corrupted by the Alicorn Amulet? She banished Twilight from her home, and made Ponyville a nightmare under her rule. And plus she tortured the residents and Twilight's best friends. If Starlight were there when the event occured, never in their entire life would they ever become best friends.

Starlight looked at her with pity. "Oh, Trixie. The past in the past. As Twilight would say: only the things you do in the present will truly represent the pony that you are today."

Trixie grinned. "Twilight is wise, isn't she?"

Starlight nodded, but she had a surprised look on her face. "I never thought I would hear you say that."

"Well, don't tell her I said that." Trixie quickly silenced her.

It had been a day since Trixie's magic show. Trixie went over to Twilight's castle and set up a board game while Starlight and Maud sat at the sides of the table.

"Let Gal's Day begin!" Trixie announced as she set up the pieces of the game.

"Gal's Day doesn't really slip off the tongue." Starlight commented. "Maybe we should change it."

"But I made it myself!" Trixie pouted. "And besides, we want it to be the polar opposite of Guy's Night." Trixie turned to Maud, who watched the two mares with a blank stare, as usual. "What do you think?"

"Its a fine name." Maud said with no expression in her face or voice.

"See? Maud agrees." Trixie looked at Starlight with a proud expression. "You have been outnumbered and I vote we keep it."

"Whatever." Starlight responded. "Can we please start the game?"

"Alright, Mrs. Downer." Trixie replied back as she levitated the dice to her friend. "You can roll first while Maud..." Trixie turned towards the gray earth pony. "How about I roll the dice for you since you don't have to roll it yourself..."

Maud just stared at her with the same expression. "Why?"

"Because, I don't want saliva all over the dice unlike last time!" Trixie explained. "It was so gross..."

But she just shrugged. "That's how all earth ponies play with dice. Just ask Pinkie Pie."

"Wait... do you mean that-" Trixie was about to ask before Starlight butted in.

"Ooooook. This just got disgusting. Can we please just drop the subject and start playing already?"

"Yeah, lets." Trixie quickly obeyed Starlight's command without objection.

After an exciting game, with Maud being the winner, Trixie and Starlight concluded Gal's Day and headed to the Hayburger Restaurant where they served... well... hayburgers.

Starlight and Trixie both sat down at the table with a tray full of food.

"Trixie cannot wait any longer!" Trixie quickly dove in and took a bite out of the burger. "THIS IS SO ADDICTING!"

Meanwhile, Starlight took a bite out of a burger in a slower way. "I wouldn't say addicting."

"Oh, you just have poor taste." Trixie shushed her.

"Shut up. I do have good tastes!" Starlight objected. "It just depends."

Trixie ignored the statement and continued eating. "You know, I'm glad Ponyville made this place. If this was built when I ruled over Ponyville, I would've came here everyday."

Starlight looked surprised. "I can't believe you used your dark past that lightly."

But Trixie just shrugged. "Meh. Trixie doesn't really care as long as no one rubs the past in my face."

Starlight quickly looked down at her fries. "You know, this would look great with some ranch!"

She teleported the ranch to the table and squirted them onto her fries, permanently staining them with a white color.

"STARLIGHT GLIMMER THAT'S DISGUSTING!" Trixie quickly looked away. She couldn't look at the sight any longer.

"What?" Starlight said with a muffled mouth. "Ranch with fries are good."

Trixie stook out her tongue. "'Good tastes', yeah right."

For the rest of the time there, Trixie ate her burger without looking at Starlight, and her stupid fry choices, much to Starlight's dismay and pleading.

The two mares hung out with each other for the rest of the day. It was until night had dawned upon them and they both said their goodbyes.

"Well, its time for me to head back to the castle. "I'll see you tomorrow?"

"You bet." Trixie winked.

With a warm smile, Starlight entered the castle, and closed its giant doors.

Trixie sighed. She was grateful that she was able to hang out with a friend like her.

She looked around the town. She was grateful that she lived in this town in general. If it weren't for this town, she would never have met Starlight, and wouldn't have become a proud and successful magician that she is today. Of course, she may not be a popular magician, she's proud that she at least most of the ponies are her fans, when just a few years ago, they were her slaves and would rule over them with a iron hoof.

Trixie climbed up into her hammock, and quietly went to sleep. She looked back on the moments that were made today: Hanging out with Starlight, Gal's Night, a cursed fact about earth ponies that she wished she forget, hayburgers, and Starlight's poor taste in fries, and many more.

If this day will be like all the days here, I'm glad Ponyville is my home.

With that said, she now fell asleep, her conscience in deep rest.
