No matter how many times she tries to block it out. They still echoed in her head. It wasn’t her fault she couldn’t find her talent!... was it?...
A descendent of the SnowDrop family, the blind Pegasus that brought beauty to winter. Since then the generations after have also done great things! Her parents were two of the best wonder bolts! At least in her opinion. She came to every one of their shows and watched them dazzle all the adoring fans! But she always had to cover her flank, for you see, she is a blank flank. Yes she was now twenty a full grown mare, but she had no talent or cutie mark. She had met with the cutie mark crusaders, but even they couldn’t figure out her talent. She visited them frequently in hopes they had another way of helping her but so far nothing.
Winter tried to be much like her parents but she wasn’t a sporty pony, at least enough to qualify into the WonderBolt academy. However, she spent most of her time at the weather factory part time, and even helped at Fluttershy Feather Sanctuary to care for the animals.
“Thanks for the help Winter!” Fluttershy smiles as she’s finished for the day walking home.
“You're so good with animals I’m honestly surprised you talent hasn’t something to do with that?” She said not realizing that’s a sensitive topic for winter.
“Oh, I appreciate the CMC for recommending me here as an opportunity to get it. Even though I didn’t get it, I’m glad to help out here any time!” Winter replies with a smile. Flying alongside her. “Would it be okay if I stayed the night to look after the sick animals?”
“Oh of course! It’s so nice to have some pony who’s so enthusiastic!” She then thought “sorry if bringing up your cutie mark was too much, I know that must be tuff,” she put a hoof on Winter as she landed beside her.
“Don’t worry about it, so what if I don’t find my special purpose?” She rolled her eyes. “Now go! I know you and Discord have a big night planned,”
She smiles “oh, okay, well thanks! There’s plenty of tea if you need it!” She smiles once she made sure everything was alright, she flew off leaving Winter to look after the place
She started to hum to herself, signing softly to put some of the animals to bed. Winter was still saddened that she had yet to get her talent and felt like she was failing everyone. The animals fell asleep snug and happy. It was a cold night. There was a quiet stillness, the only type that made one feel like something was to happen. The cottage was set up perfectly with a fire going. She walked around to make sure everyone was sound peacefully, before flying up to the highest point of the sanctuary to keep watch over everyone.
A spark of strange purple light flashed only for an instant.....A large breath bout of wind blew then stopped, it was almost as if something tried to come but did not succeed. She stood and saw a light was flickering over the sanctuary and she wasn’t sure what it was.
It happens again more violently and longer, strikes of lightning flashes everywhere then it all stops again. And everything goes back to normal ....one could almost hear a voice cry “oh come on!!!!”
“Hello?” Winter called as the light flickered out. Eclipse heard the voice beyond as his last attempt of a portal faded.
Just then a ultrasonic noise could be heard as the flickering started again and out of nowhere a portal opens and Eclipse flies right out of it crashing right into Winter both of them crashing into the ground
They screamed and the large crash and ultra sonic boom woke up all the animals into a panic.
This strange purple pony was lying looking dazed. The portal was opened and a strange angel pony statue could be seen on the other side.
“H-lee...lo....hello! That’s how it’s done nice save bro,” he said to Winter but also to himself his vision was blurry. This would be extremely confusing for the blue Pegasus
“What the- how are- oh no!!” She exclaimed seeing all the animals crying and screaming in fear. She pushed the purple Pegasus, not noticing his two different horns, off her as she hurried to put them to sleep again. “Come on! It’s okay!” She says frantically, taking arm fills of baby animals and trying to rock them to sleep, gently hushing and humming but that wasn’t doing much..
As his vision cleared up he saw the portal open and the statue was a little closer “CLOSE THE PORTAL!” He says knowing the danger He quickly uses his magic to try to close it just before the statue enters Equestria, he succeeds but faints from exhaustion.
Winter was still struggling to try and calm down the animals, flying about here and there. Nullah raised himself up and watched the mare. He went to the Animals and was able to get them to calm down, the rainbow snake had great power over the others particular the kangaroos and they rested, Eclipse was still unconscious
“Who...what...I’m so confused...” Winter stuttered, still stressed from what happened. Eclipse coughed as he lay on the ground, Nullah went up to Winter noticing she was confused he gave her a boop on the nose and indicted Eclipse.
“Oh! Uh...” she flew to get the keys and unlocked the supply closet to get the necessary things before hurrying to eclipse.
“I...ah” he mumbled laying there. Nullah booped his nose
“Where did you come from?...” she asked, mostly to herself.
“From my place!” He got up and says dramatically then faints again.
“And what place is that?! And what were those statues!! And thanks to you, you woke up the whole sanctuary!”
He gets up seeming rather frantic and a little out of it, “wait I just realized somethings wrong…. I’m... I’m........feeling...”
“Of course you are, you probably got a concussion of some sort,” she points out.
He thinks for a moment “Cold!! That’s it!! It’s cold out here ....want to get inside? Sorry I’ll tell you everything then let’s just say it’s been a big day....or week or I don’t know,” he chuckles composing himself
“Ummmm are you okay?...” she asked, concerned, “do you need medicine or something?”
“Yeah I might need something....sorry I’m Eclipse, nice to meet you” he was now back to his senses, “portal travel is just eh you know but seriously it’s cold can we chat inside,” he blushes feeling embarrassed
She was still lost but led him to the cottage, blanket over him while she made some tea. “So you’re from another dimension,”
“Yeah I was traveling through them....it’s just hard. I can't control it well so what’s this dimension called? Like you're a pony ....I've seen a few of them,” he takes a sip of tea “oh umm where are my manners what’s your name?” He looked at the blue pony thinking she looked rather cute
“Um...Equestria? I’m not sure,” she shrugged, “well, my name's WinterSea! But everyone calls me winter,” she greets, flying over with snake cookies.
He was not used to having normal conversations with other ponies as he didn’t know any other pony before.
“Lovely name! You don’t seem to surprised by me not being from Eq....uestria or that I well look like this?” He said nervous
“Are you related to discord? You have the same horns as him,” she says looking up at the teal horns from his head.
“Oh I am!...we’ll probably not the same Discord from this dimension but ah one at least”
“Do you have chaotic powers too!” Winter prompted.
He smirked then chocolate milk rained into a glass which then ran away quaking like a duck
“A little hehe”
“Yup! Definitely a relative of discord,” she nods. Drinking her tea, “and who’s this little guy?” She asked, looking into the jar of almost empty snake treats.
“He’s Nullah! He’s my pet he also can create worlds” he said off handedly “so what’s this world like? Do you have cars in this realm or is there wars like Ive seen a lot by now”
Nullah jumps up on the couch and burps
Winter happily rubbed the snake down the back to help it digest all the treats. “Um...well not really wars just...I guess you could say boss fights,” she walked away to get a copy of the friendship journal.
He picks up the journal and flicks through the whole thing at lightning speed “good read! Little corny though”
She blinked, realizing he must’ve used some magic, “theses are the entries of princess twilight and the council of friendship many moons ago,”
“I know! It’s amazing I learned so much about your culture though I’m a little confused aren’t you meant to have cutie marks?....or is that something ponies don’t have in This dimension?......or is this just g5?”
She frowns looking down at her flank, “I’m a...special case I guess...” she rubbed her arm, “I haven’t found my talent yet...”
“Oh I’m sorry to hear that...” he walks up to her looking sympathetic he felt a lot for creatures that had it hard though being awkward he didn’t know how to handle it.
“There there I’m sure you can find it! This fluttershy is a big deal apparently and she trusts you, what do you do as a job?”
“Well I worked at the weather factory in clouds dale for a bit, I mostly like working here with Fluttershy but for some reason that’s not my talent,” she frowns.
“Darn...well you’re surely good at something! Nullah thinks so”
Nullah boops Winter's nose. “See and he’s smart! Maybe I could help you?”
“That’s what every ponys said. No matter how much they try, no pony can help me...” she put her cup down.
He put a hoof around her “hey but I got something they don’t! One gets cutie marks from experience and well, ponies of this realm can only experience this dimension.....what if you got experience in other dimensions! That way you're bound to find something!” He said not only wanting to help her but the idea he could actually have a friend......
“Other dimensions? Is that safe? I mean...what if we do something wrong and-“
“Ahh it’s fine I’m an expert!” He lies trying to sound super confident “I’ve done this for so long and honestly I think every creature should dimension hop and experience the multiverse, it’s so magical” He smiles giving her Reassurance
“Plus they have the powers of the most incredible beings so we’ll be safe”
“Well...if you’re this experienced then...” she stood with him. Maybe this couldn’t work.
He nods and smiles he knew he could not stay in one place as well
“Yeah! I’ll be honest I’ve been a little lonely....so it would be nice to have company and we can find out together “
“Do you not have other friends?” She asks. Following him outside so they could dimension hop.
“Well umm....no” she sighs “my parents don’t want me to...have friends” he says somba
"Oh....well, you have me now! And Nullah!" she says enthusiastically.
He blushed a little “what’s this feeling?” He thinks to himself not entirely sure it was so new to him having someone want to be friends he Tiered up a little and hugged her
“Thank you” he didn’t know if that was to much but it’s how he felt
She was a bit surprised but she hugged back. Eclipse had never done this with another outside his family before, and he felt his chest clench, finding it hard to breathe.
He let go and coughed a little
“S-sorry if that was a bit much I just yeah” he said awkward still new to interactions with pony’s
“N-no you’re good!” She cleared her throat too, “so! Where to?”
“Are yes! I have the perfect place in mind!” He lied they went to the week spot in time and space and Concentrated all his energy as it was a hard effort for the stallion but as he did sparks started to fly and purple lightning started to strike! Wind blow around them.
Winter still couldn’t believe what was going on!! Suddenly a new portal appeared, and they jumped through before it closed. Eclipse had no idea where they were but winter did. “Canterlot?” She says looking around. She had been there before with her parents but...things felt different here
