“Wait, how does Never Have I Ever work?” Starlight asked with a raised eyebrow, currently she, Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie were all sitting at the map table, well Twilight and her friends were sitting in their thrones, Starlight had to get a chair as she was not sitting in Spike’s tiny throne, they were all having a girls night, and Pinkie Pie had suggested they play Never Have I Ever.
“Seriously?! You’ve never played this game before?!” Rainbow Dash asked in shock, “I figured Trixie would at least introduce you to it.”
“Nope, I never played it before.” Starlight shook her head.
“Well to be fair darling, it IS a game you commonly play with three creatures and your friends don’t normally interact with each other, so I think you having group sessions is sort of rare.” Rarity defended her fellow unicorn.
“I guess that makes sense.” Rainbow Dash relented.
“So how do you play?” Starlight asked curiously.
“Oh it’s easy sugarcube. Depending on how many of us there are, you have three to five small glasses of a certain drink, and then you have to say Never Have I Ever: and say a certain thing somepony in this room might have done. If they actually did it, the ponies have to drink outta their glass except for the pony who asked the question since they ain’t tryin’ to screw themselves over after all because if all of the glasses are empty, that pony loses, and we keep going until someone wins.” Applejack explained thoroughly, “Since there are seven of us, we’ll just use three glasses and drink… Uh water I guess.”
“Oh okay. That sounds fun. I’ll play, as long as no one uses my past to get me eliminated…” Starlight smiled before glaring suspiciously at Rainbow Dash, “Relax. I may wanna win but I wouldn’t stoop THAT low.” The cyan pegasus smirked cooly.
“Don’t worry, this is usually talking about stuff we may not know about each other so that’s out of the question.” Twilight reassured her former student.
“That sounds fair. I’m in!” Starlight smiled.
“Great. I’ll get the water!” Pinkie Pie zoomed out of the map table.
“Are we not concerned that if she comes back with the water at that speed, she’ll cause a mess.” Starlight asked everyone.
“Don’t worry, let me just count down in three, two, one…” Rainbow Dash counted down before Pinkie Pie zipped back in and passed three glasses of water to everyone’s seat, without even causing a splash.
“How did you-“ Starlight began to ask before Fluttershy interrupted, “It’s best not to question it.”
“Okay let’s do this! I’ll go first!” Pinkie Pie raised her hoof enthusiastically.
“Alright sure. Go ahead.” Rainbow Dash shrugged.
“Never Have I Ever dyed my mane!” Pinkie Pie smirked.
“Darn it Pinkie.” Rarity groaned before drinking her glass.
“Oops, sorry Rarity. I forgot you did that.” Pinkie Pie smiled sheepishly before gaining a smirk, “But I don’t think you’re alone.”
She gestured to Rainbow Dash, Starlight, and Fluttershy who drank from their glasses as well.
“Whoa! Rainbow and Starlight I can see, but Fluttershy?!” Twilight asked in shock.
“Discord got me to try different hair colors. It was very fun.” Fluttershy blushed sheepishly.
“I tried to do a different mix of colors since I felt I’d look so awesome.” Rainbow Dash smirked victoriously.
“I… had a goth phase.” Starlight chuckled nervously.
“I’m aware. Your father showed me pictures when he visited.” Twilight giggled.
“Gah!” Starlight facehoofed with a groan.
“Okay, I guess it’s Fluttershy’s turn now!” Pinkie Pie spoke brightly.
“Ha! This should be a laugh! It’s not like Fluttershy will come up with anything daring.” Rainbow Dash snickered.
“We’ll see. Um, Never Have I Ever…” Fluttershy thought nervously before blurting out, “snuck a glance at another pony’s butt when they weren’t looking.”
“Bahahahahahahahaha!” Pinkie Pie laughed while everyone else in the room stared mouths agape and eyes widened.
“Well played.” Rainbow Dash sipped her glass, while Rarity, Starlight, and Pinkie Pie did the same.
“Seriously?! You all did this! I swear that is so perverted and creepy. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.” Twilight spoke with a nervous blush.
“Now Twilight, I think I caught you staring at Flash Sentry’s butt when we were at the Crystal Empire that one time.” Pinkie Pie smirked deviously.
“I…I did no such thing.” Twilight shook her head nervously before Applejack glared at Twilight skeptically, causing Twilight to sigh, “But he was in his armor. That…That’s different.”
“Twilight, just drink the dang glass.” Rainbow Dash said bluntly.
“Fine.” Twilight groaned in annoyance before drinking her glass.
“Okay Starlight. Your turn.” Twilight told Starlight happily, “Try to make your question less inappropriate though, hopefully you do well.”
“Okay…” Starlight spoke, she tried to keep her mind off of anything perverted but she drifted to romance, and beamed, while Twilight and her friends didn’t have romantic partners, she figured one of them had to have been “rewarded” at some point for their heroic feats.
“Never Have I Ever Kissed Anyone?” Starlight smirked deviously, to the shock of her friends.
She waited for any of the Mane 6 to drink a glass, any of them, but to her surprise, no one drank any of it.
“Wait. NEITHER of you kissed anypony?!” Starlight asked in astonishment.
“Uh yeah, I kinda thought at least Pinkie Pie, Rainbow, or Rarity hooked up with somepony.” Applejack spoke in agreement.
“If we’re being honest Applejack, my taste in stallions have dwindled over the years, some of them are absolutely shallow.” Rarity admitted.
“And I spend most of my energy on winning and being a Wonderbolt so… I don’t really do much for romance. Honestly, my most likely romantic companion would probably be one of you, it’s that bad.” Rainbow Dash explained herself.
“And I prefer friendship anyway. I prefer to leave the kissing stuff to the other pony.” Pinkie Pie waved off dismissively.
“So… you’d willingly kiss any of us if we asked you to?” Fluttershy asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Well maybe.” Pinkie Pie shrugged with a goofy smile, “Except for Applejack since I see her as a long lost cousin and that’s SUPER weird to me.”
“That’s fair.” Applejack shrugged.
“What about you Twilight and Fluttershy?” Starlight asked curiously, “Didn’t you girls have some romantic tension with Flash and Discord respectively.”
“HAD would be the more appropriate pronounciation.” Twilight clarified, “He was just some silly crush I had.”
“And me and Discord are just friends. Sure he adores me, but that’s because I’m his first friend.” Fluttershy explained with a smile.
“Huh? I can’t believe that despite being the most famous mares in Equestria, neither of us had our first kiss.” Applejack admitted.
“That’s odd to me too. I had my first kiss with Trixie a month ago.” Starlight confessed which had Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash shocked.
“Whoa whoa whoa, you and Trixie are dating?” Rainbow Dash asked in astonishment.
“And you didn’t say anything?” Fluttershy asked, a bit shocked as well before adding, “Well to be fair, I do get wanting to leave your intimate life a secret.”
“Relax girls. Starlight and Trixie just had a quick fling because they wanted to see if their relationship could go further than just being friends.” Twilight clarified to her friends
“Trixie didn’t end up feeling anything, and while I did enjoy the kiss, I didn’t feel anything either so we just shrugged it off.” Starlight smiled reassuringly.
“So… you were okay with potentially kissing your best friend.” Rainbow Dash inquired suspiciously.
“And you’re into mares?” Rarity asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Well yeah, I’m aware of the term friends with benefits, I just never saw the benefit to it before I became your friends since I was basically the ruler of a town.” Starlight admitted with a calm smile, “Twilight told me that friends with benefits is okay to
Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity all seemed to be lost in thought, though Twilight was observant and caught Fluttershy briefly giggling into her hoof, Rarity running a hoof through her mane with a bit of a determined gaze towards Starlight, while Pinkie Pie twiddled her hooves together, and Applejack and Rainbow Dash shot each other suspicious glances, those five were planning something and she had to do something about it.
“Uh Starlight… our FRIENDS seem to be acting weird.” Twilight said subtly, though putting emphasis on the word ‘friends’, “I need to talk to them, you wait outside the room.”
“Okay…” Starlight said nervously before walking outside the room, once she was out of hearing range, Twilight gave her friends a hardened glare, “Girls I know exactly what you all are thinking right now.”
“Hey come on Twilight? I’m sure all of us wanna be the first one to have a first kiss in this room. Starlight’s practically giving that opportunity to us on a silver platter.” Rainbow Dash told the alicorn with a calm smile.
“Well… She never said she wanted it, did she?” Twilight asked scathingly with her cheeks reddening.
“Well it isn’t a bad thing if we ask her now is it?” Rarity asked with a suggestive smirk.
“Plus she is kinda cute.” Fluttershy admits bashfully.
“Do you WANT Starlight to feel awkward or something?” Twilight asked with a scoff.
“But… Starlight literally said she had no problem with the whole friends with benefits thing. Especially if it’s just a simple kiss.” Applejack raised an eyebrow, “Even if she says no, she can always just shrug it off.”
“Well… I… Uh…” Twilight began looking around nervously.
Pinkie Pie gasped dramatically before speaking accusingly, “Hold up a icing coated minute, you don’t want us to ask Starlight about who she would rather kiss now so you can do it while you’re alone!”
The other four mares gasped and glared angrily at Twilight who scoffed with a nervous smile, “That’s ridiculous.”
“Really? She LIVES with you Twilight. It’s such an unfair advantage.” Rainbow Dash said angrily.
“Alright fine. That is the reason. Mostly because I know she’d choose me since I’m clearly her favorite.” Twilight smirked haughtily.
“Like she’d wanna kiss her former teacher.” Rainbow Dash giggled as she flew up to Twilight, “Who’s a total egghead by the way.”
“For your information, my student-teacher bond with Starlight is not like the one I have with Celestia. The two of us actually have a friendship based off of mutual respect.” Twilight glared angrily at the pegasus before adding with a smirk, “Also, which one of us reformed her again?”
“Still…. She could find it weird.” Fluttershy argued softly with a smirk as she walked over to her two fellow flyers, “Also, I’m pretty sure she was able to get defeated the first time and thus begin her eventual reformation was because I exposed her cutie mark to the villagers.”
“With MY help mind you.” Twilight added spitefully.
“Hmm, I did the most work.” Fluttershy smirked sassily.
“Ladies please, there’s no need to fight.” Rarity spoke with a calm smirk, “I’m pretty sure I have this one. I am the most fashionable of us all and Starlight and I did bond during that friendship retreat.”
“You mean the friendship retreat where I tried to help her get into something new.” Applejack added as she walked over to Rarity with a stern frown.
“Ah yes. And then she had to hear you say that she looked absolutely awful in that gear she was carrying.” Rarity smirked back.
“Chrysalis literally confessed that she made those clones after we caught her! She knows it wasn’t me!” Applejack cried out furiously.
“I know but it still must be painful to hear that come out of a version of your own friend.” Rarity argued.
“It was a FAKE, I doubt she’s that emotionally vulnerable. The fact you believe that shows that you don’t deserve that kiss.” Applejack scoffed.
“No one said there was gonna BE a kiss since I doubt she’s gonna kiss any of you.” Twilight said sternly before smugly adding, “Oh I mean us, though I’m not sure how true that is.”
“Why don’t we ask her?!” Pinkie Pie asked with a smile as she pointed behind them to Starlight who was back in the room.
“I… heard arguing.” Starlight rubbed her hoof nervously.
“I’m guessing you heard the part where we were gonna ask who you’d rather kiss?” Twilight asked nervously.
“Well yeah.” Starlight chuckled sheepishly, “It’s kinda hard not to hear.”
“Oh that’s a relief. So which one of us would you kiss? We are the most talented of our species so I think it fits well.” Rainbow Dash playfully nudged the unicorn.
“I’m the one who likes to make ponies’ smile! And I did set you up to befriend Maud.” Pinkie Pie popped up next to Starlight.
“Well… I feel I did set you up on the path of reformation by exposing your fake cutie mark and I do think I’m the most stable one for you… if that’s what you believe of course.” Fluttershy smiled with a blush.
“Look Starlight. I personally believe you’ll likely choose me but it’s your choice, you don’t have to choose between us if you don’t want to.” Twilight said comfortingly.
Starlight put a hoof to her chin before she smiled. “Y’know what? I made my decision.”
Starlight soon grabbed Twilight’s face and kissed her, much to her shock but she didn’t pull away and instead leaned into the kiss before Starlight let her go and ended the kiss, leaving Twilight blushing and agape.
“Welp. I’m gonna turn in for the night. All that kiss nonsense made me tired. Night girls.” Starlight beamed before trotting off.
“Yeah. It is getting late and… I have a Wonderbolts practice tomorrow. Congrats Twilight.” Rainbow Dash smiled proudly before flying towards the exit.
“Yeah, my animal friends do get a bit lonely without me. I’m gonna go too.” Fluttershy said before walking off to the exit.
“I gotta buck some apple trees tomorrow. Bye!” Applejack said before leaving as well.
Rarity and Pinkie Pie just said brief goodbyes before leaving Twilight alone before she shook off her stupor.
Twilight soon flew in the direction where Starlight was headed, and was able to catch up to the unicorn.
“Hey Starlight, I have a question. Why’d you choose to kiss me? I did say I was your favorite but I was unsure.” Twilight asked curiously.
“Well it’s simple Twilight. I found you to be the most genuine, and you said the magic words.” Starlight smiled back at Twilight, “You don’t have to choose between us if you don’t want to.”
“Aw, that’s so sweet Starlight.” Twilight blushed with a smile.
“Yeah but not as sweet as knowing you also feel a little something for me.” Starlight smirked at Twilight who’s eyes widened.
“Don‘t worry. I felt something too.” Starlight reassured her friend. “If you ever wanna be a little more than just regular friends, let me know. I never really felt much of an authority vibe from you anyway.”
Twilight watched as Starlight left in shock but after a while, she smiled.
