Heat Of The Moment

Confusion and Excitement

Starlight was currently in a contained panic, if it weren’t for Trixie being around, she may not have been able to keep her cool around all the students she was leading into the catacombs.

Oh goodness if Chrysalis gets her hooves on Trixie, I’ll never forgive Discord.

She always was fond of the stage magician when they first met. Starlight could relate to Trixie easily, and she could even confide in things with her that she might not even confide in Twilight with.

Starlight was aware of the growing romantic tension between them, she was impulsive at times for sure but she wasn’t an idiot but that didn’t matter now, she just had to get the students to safety.

“Stay with your buddy. No running.” Starlight reminded the last few students as they slid down to the catacombs, “Just follow Counselor Trixie.”

As soon as the last student was down, she heard a malicious voice that chilled her to her bone, “Starlight, Star bright, where’s the pony I want to fight?

She didn’t need to have advanced hearing to know who that was.

“I have to go. Do you think you can handle it from here?” Starlight asked to her best friend.

“Nopony does a great and powerful escape like Trixie.” Trixie spoke reassuringly.

Starlight blushed as she spoke, Trixie always had been so dedicated and that was one of the many things she loved about…

I may never see her again, I better make this moment last.

Starlight immediately pulled Trixie in for a short kiss, the stage magician was surprised but eventually kissed back.

Once Starlight pulled away, Trixie began to ask, “Wh…Why-“

“Because I love you.” Starlight answered determinedly, “That’s all you need to know. Just go with the students, I’ll handle Chrysalis. I can’t guarantee it, but I’ll find a way to come back to you.”

That was all Starlight said to Trixie before she teleported away from the school, presumably to fight off Chrysalis.

Now that the battle was over and the villains were stone, Trixie didn’t know where she and Starlight now stood.

Trixie wasn’t sure if Starlight truly loved her or if she had just kissed her in the heat of the moment. Once the creatures began leaving the field, Trixie immediately began walking to the bottom of the hill to find Starlight. Sunburst had decided to accompany her on that goal, and boy did he have a lot of questions.

“So Starlight really kissed you?” Sunburst asked Trixie in shock.

She decided to tell him about the kiss, Sunburst was one of Starlight’s closest but not best friend after all so she figured he might know how Starlight is feeling about all this, especially since he’s much more analytical than Trixie.

“Not so loud, but yeah. It was short and sweet. Though the Great and Powerful Trixie should have expected somepony so close to her would fall for her eventually. I honestly am surprised it took so long for Starlight to do this.” Trixie smugly replied which Sunburst just replied by staring unamused at her.

“Heh… yeah. Not the time for theatrics. Got it.” Trixie giggled sheepishly.

“So… what are you two gonna do about it?” Sunburst asked curiously.

“Honestly, I was hoping you would know. You are more observant than I am, so I think you’d be able to tell me what Starlight’s gonna do now.” Trixie explained.

“Yeah… you forget me and her didn’t see each other as much despite getting back in contact, reading Starlight like a book is more of a Twilight thing. Though if I know Starlight, if she kissed you, she most definitely did it out of her emotions.” Sunburst told the show mare reassuringly.

Trixie began to take those words into consideration as she and Sunburst made it down the mountain to where Starlight, Twilight, Discord, The Royal Sisters, and Twilight’s other friends she rarely interacts with are.

“Uh… hey Starlight. Glad to see you’re still okay.” Trixie smiled awkwardly.

Starlight seemed to blush with a nervous smile, Trixie wasn’t sure how to make of that, “Well I did say I would make sure I’d come back to you didn’t I?”

“Aw. How romantic.” Pinkie Pie cooed with a bubbly grin which made Starlight frown with a nervous look, while Trixie smiled and looked away with a blush.

“Oh please. I doubt Starlight fell for her BFF of all ponies.” Discord smirked as he rolled his eyes playfully, “I’m pretty sure BFFs are meant to be just really close friends anyway, nothing more, nothing less.”

Spike just facepalmed at Discord, for what reason, Trixie did not know but despite Discord being a massive idiot, he had a bit of a point. Trixie was never exactly sure if Starlight actually returned her feelings or not. Sure Starlight was very sweet and was bashful whenever Trixie was around, but that’s basically how Starlight is.

“Actually Draconequus,” Luna spoke angrily likely due to Discord’s idiotic plan, Trixie couldn’t blame her. “Creatures sometimes don’t start out as lovers, they can just be really good friends before realizing such feelings.”

Luna sent a wink of approval towards Trixie who’s eyes widened as she sheepishly smiled back.

“Anyway… we’re getting off topic.” Starlight tried to change the subject which made Trixie raise an eyebrow, “So… what’s gonna happen with Discord now that this is over?” She asked with a bit of concern.

Discord gave Starlight a look as if he felt betrayed, though honestly Trixie thought it should be the other way around, given Discord literally sent Chrysalis after Starlight. Safety net or not, Trixie was not letting that go.

“His punishment remains undecided, but we’ll try to make it as fair as possible. Rest assured, he will not go back to his stone prison.” Celestia informed everyone, Twilight, Starlight, and their friends all seemed relieved but really Trixie could care less as long as Discord suffers for what he did.

“Well, me and my friends were gonna head to Donut Joe’s to celebrate Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow’s defeat. You wanna join us?” Twilight kindly offered.

“I think I’m good for now Twilight, but thank you for the offer.” Sunburst smiled politely.

“Well… this seems more like your moment than anything.” Starlight replied with a grin before turning to Trixie, “But I think I need to talk with Trixie.”

Trixie seemed to smile at that

Discord soon turned to Twilight with an excited, “If I’m being honest, I’d love to join you guys for your victory snack.”

Twilight and her friends noticeably looked sheepish at this even Fluttershy and Spike, but thankfully for them Celestia intervened, “Actually, me and Luna need to discuss important business with Discord.” She said sternly which caused Discord to literally shrink at her presence until he was a floating in the air as if he were a small but visible bug.

With a flash, Discord was soon back to his normal self and he sighed before speaking, “Alright. I guess we should go.”

The three all powerful beings soon flew off, and soon Twilight and her friends headed to their destination as well.

“Trixie does not understand why they don’t just teleport.” Trixie admitted with a shake of her head.

“Because teleportation doesn’t always go long distance and it might freak ponies out. Though since we’re going to Twilight’s castle and it’s me you’re with…” Starlight explained with a carefree grin before she flared up her horn and with a flash, Trixie found herself inside Twilight’s castle with Sunburst and Trixie at the entrance hall.

“Now that’s more like it.” Trixie smirked before she remembered why she wanted to talk with Starlight in the first place.

“Uh… Sunburst, can me and Starlight be alone for a bit? I need to talk to her.” Trixie asked the former Crystaler.

“Oh of course. I hope you two can figure things out.” Sunburst said with a grin before walking off, which Starlight was visibly confused by.

“Does he…” Starlight began to ask before Trixie interrupted, “Yes. Trixie told him. So, Starlight. I am aware that you and I kissed earlier today.”

“It’s… kinda hard to forget.” Starlight smiled sheepishly with a blush.

“I just want to know what this means for us? You’re probably already aware I have a thing for you if you just did that out of the blue. I know how you are Starlight.” Trixie explained in a serious tone.

“Yeah… I knew about your thing for me for a while now. I was waiting for you to confess actually.” Starlight confirmed.

“Me? Why?” Trixie asked with a confused frown.

“I wanted you to make the first move because I know you tend to struggle with your feelings and felt I could wait a bit before you wanted us to be a thing.” Starlight explained with a frown, “I thought it was clear we both felt this way so that’s why I kissed you, I knew we might never see each other again if Chrysalis had been able to overpower me, so I felt you deserved something before I potentially left you for good.”

Trixie began to take in what Starlight said and figured that the explanation made sense.

“It… wasn’t so obvious for me.” Trixie admitted sheepishly, “I figured your super sweet nature and bashful attitude were normal. Sure you blushed a few times when you saw me and acted a bit more nervous and jittery, but I figured that could have been some new quirk.” Trixie explained, “I’m sorry I was so oblivious.” She sighed.

Starlight looked at Trixie remorsefully and sighed sadly, she should have probably said something sooner.

“No Trix. It’s my fault. I should have told you about my crush on you sooner so you could work out your feelings better. I share the blame as much as you and maybe even more and I’m sorry too.” Starlight said comfortingly as she lifted Trixie’s chin up. The two turned away a bit with blushes when they realized how close their faces were getting.

“Anyway…” Starlight rubbed the back of her head with her hoof before speaking clearly, “I’m okay with being friends if you are, but I would also want us to be more if you feel you’re ready.”

“Friends with benefits?” Trixie asked with a nervous grin, but then she saw Starlight’s unamused glare, “We both know that our feelings for each other are more than just attraction Trixie.”

“Okay fine.” Trixie admitted with a sigh, “I do want to be girlfriends, but I’m not sure if you deserve somepony like me. I mean, look at all your other friends. Twilight helped you see the light of friendship, Sunburst has been your rock and you share some common interests with him, and even that Sunset Shimmer who lives in another dimension can relate to you, all I am is just some novice show mare who gets on your nerves.” She confessed sadly.

“What are you talking about?” Starlight asked with a confused eyebrow raise.

“I’m not stupid Starlight. I know I’ve upset you in the past. I carelessly teleported the map table away from the castle, I was unhelpful in the whole Pharynx ordeal, and just last week I caused flash bees to attack the school.” Trixie explained with a tearful look, “You deserve better than me.”

“Trixie look. It’s true you and I have our conflicts, but we’re stronger because of them. Besides, even if you make mistakes, you have positive qualities too. You’re smug at times but it’s clear you’re very loyal, kind, passionate, and are willing to lend an ear when I need to vent about something that annoys me. That’s why I fell for you in the first place.” Starlight confessed with a smile before she hugged Trixie.

Trixie was a bit surprised because she and Starlight hug a lot of times, but this time, it felt different, a good kind of different, maybe because Starlight was opening up about how she truly felt about her or some mushy stuff. It was clear to Trixie that Starlight truly did care about her, so she hugged Starlight back as well.

Once they let go of each other, the two looked at each other with bright smiles, and Starlight spoke up, “That felt more warm and welcoming than usual.” She admitted in a chipper tone.

“Yeah. It really did.” Trixie smiled back.

“Look, if you don’t want to start dating me now, I’m fine with that but even if it doesn’t work out, we’ll always have our friendship.” Starlight spoke reassuringly before jokingly adding, “Even if it’s without benefits.”

Trixie giggled before speaking up, “Okay, I guess we can give it a shot. Besides, I really enjoyed that kiss.”

“Well… if you did enjoy it, would it be rude to ask for another?” Starlight asked a bit nervously.

Trixie giggled once again, this one was a keeper for sure.
