Episode 21: Secret among the trees

In the dead of night in Equestria, Ron hopped through the Everfree forest, looking around. He had been woken up by a strange noise only he could hear and decided to investigate. He hopped into a clearing in the forest when he heard that noise again. He looked around. He roared out, trying to scare whatever was out there off.

That didn’t work out because Ron heard a pop and turned just in time to see a little spark of magic fly towards him and expand around him into a cage. Ron gasped before he tried to break out. He roared as loud as he could, trying to get some help.

“Don’t waste your breath. I ensured nopony could hear you.” Ron heard a voice say, he turned to the source and found…an Alicorn filly no older than 8 approach?

Ron let out a confused and terrified whimper. The filly chuckled. “Aww. Are you scared? Good. You should be if you know who I am and who I’m related to.” The filly said. “Now, we BOTH know you can talk so START talking. What are you planning in regards to Sparkling Medley?” She asked. “And who sent you?”

Ron gulped. “L-look, I don’t know what you’re talking about, I just—“

“Step away from the cage!” Growled a voice, cutting Ron off. Both Ron and the Filly turned to see four ponies and a Clear-Cut step out from the shadows, the ponies and creature had their weapons drawn.

Fletcher examined the situation, and his eyes widened when he gazed upon the Alicorn Filly. “Another Alicorn? Just how many are out there?” He asked.

“Alicorn?” Clear Cut asked. He took a closer look at the Filly and noticed that she had a horn and wings. “What the, who are you?” He asked the filly. “What’s going on here?”

“You first.” The Alicorn filly responded. “This is my turf.”

Clear-Cut clenched his sword as he glared at the filly, and that’s when he noticed something around her neck, a necklace, one with a very, VERY familiar, light blue heart pendant. “Where did you get that?” He said.

“Get what?” The Alicorn filly asked.

“That. That necklace. Do you have any idea how significant that necklace is?” Clear-Cut asked the filly.

While Fletcher and his team glanced at each other confused, the Alicorn Filly glanced down at the necklace she was wearing. “This? This has been in my family since the Dawn of Equuis itself. Passed down for generations, it’s a reminder of our family heritage, and a reminder of the mission we’ve been given.” She said.

Clear-Cut glared at the Filly. “Young filly, I know exactly who should have pendants like that. So I’m only going to ask this once. Who, are, you.” He asked, firmer than last time.

“All I’m going to tell you for now, is that I’m descended from the same family as Sparkling Medley.” The filly said.

While Fletcher and his fellow special forces guards’ eyes widened in shock. Clear Cut just stared at the filly. “That is incredibly unlikely. It’s MORE likely that your family stole that pendant.” He said.

The Alicorn filly smiled. “Oh I assure you Clear-Cut, my words are genuine.” She said, revealing that she knew exactly who Clear-Cut was.

While the filly and Clear-Cut were having a back and forth, Ron, who was still in the cage, was outright panicking. It was already bad enough that he was trapped in a cage, but now that he knew Clear-Cut was around, and yes, Ron absolutely knew who the figure with the cloak was, especially in relation to his own kind, Ron was desperately trying to get out of the cage. “Clack, clack clack clack I gotta get out of here.” He murmured to himself as he pawed and struggled at the cage bars. He was absolutely fearing for his life at this point.

Eventually, his attempts to escape caught the attention of the filly who caught him. “Hey! Trying to escape are we?” She asked Ron.

Ron jumped, before he just broke down. “Please! I mean no harm! I’m not like them! I don’t have any plans involving Sparkling Medley! I just want to live a peaceful life being a good pet to Fluttershy!” He cried out.

“Likely story!” Both The filly and Clear-Cut shot back at him, further terrifying Ron.

“Please! You have to believe me! I’ll do anything, just let me stay where I am now!” Ron begged.

The filly and Clear Cut were about to deny that, but Omega spoke up. “Guys, I think he’s being honest.” She said.

Clear Cut whirled around and glared at Omega. “You’re kidding right?” He asked.

“No, I’m not. Look at him. Does he really seem like he has any malice planned?” She asked. “I was watching him this whole time and the entire time he’s been in that cage, he’s been clearly fearing for his life. Villains typically throw more insults and be braver.” She commented.

“Must be a good actor.” The filly responded.

“Or maybe he's being truthful about his intentions. He was within reach of Sparkler at least once so far and he did nothing.” Omega reasoned. “We should give him a chance.” She proposed.

Ron nodded desperately. “Yeah! Put me on probation or whatever, I just want to go back to Fluttershy!” He pleaded.

Clear-Cut and the filly glanced at Omega, Ron, and then each other. After a few hard moments, the filly lit her horn and the cage disappeared. “Get out of here.” She told Ron.

Ron watched the cage vanish and he smiled widely in relief. “Thank you! You won’t regret this!” He said.

“We better not.” Clear-Cut responded. “I got my eye on you you little rodent.” He warned Ron.

Ron nodded and hopped off. Clear-Cut turned to Fletcher and his team. “You four watch him and continue watching Sparkler.” He said. “This Filly and I are going on a little trip.” He said.

Fletcher nodded and led his team away. Clear-Cut turned back to the filly. “Got anypony where you live that might miss you?” He asked.

The filly shook her head. “Parents died in an accident involving a Timberwolf and the orphanage I was sent to couldn’t care less where I am. Where are we going?” She asked.

“To confirm your identity and get some answers. Because I know EVERYTHING about Sparkling Medley’s family and I do not know you.” Clear-Cut responded.

“Fair enough.” The filly responded as she and Clear-Cut walked off.
