My Little Pokémon

The Rush of a Pokemon Battle

Hoenn. Mossdeep City. Battle Carnival. The Pokemon Festival.

At the Battle Carnival, certain battles were reaching their end very soon or were ongoing. The sun was starting to set as the late afternoon was already here. And soon, nightfall.

Sci-Twi, who was battling Pinkie Pie, was facing the earth pony and her Mew with her pony counterpart's Ninetales. All the while, Bertha observed as Sci-Twi only needed two more wins to receive victory. But something about Pinkie Pie and Mew raised a red flag. Ninetales refused to let Sci-Twi down, despite this foreboding presence. They had just had a clash with Flare Blitz and Psyshock, resulting in a tie as both Pokemon were forced back. Only Ninetales received damage via Flare Blitz's recoil.

"Hm. It's getting rather late." Bertha noticed where the Sun was. A beautiful orange glow had graced Mossdep as only a few hours remained until the Silver Moon would appear.

"Okay. Here goes! Ninetales, please use Energy Ball!"

"Ninetales!" Ninetales would strike next, leaping into the air and gathering the power of nature which then formed into a verdant orb.

"Here's this! Mew! Aura Sphere, go-go-go!"

"Mew-Mew!" To counter Energy Ball, Mew would make his own ball. Or rather, a sphere in this case. By harnessing Aura within his paws, Mew retaliated, headbutting the Aura Sphere instead of throwing it, just to gain some style points.

Aura Sphere and Energy Ball made contact, resulting in a slight struggle but Aura Sphere managed to break through Energy Ball. Breaking through the ball of nature, Aura Sphere crashed into Ninetales, delivering the first blow to the Fox Pokemon.

"Tales!"

"Ninetales! Use Flare Blitz!"

"N...Nine!" Ninetales staggered for a bit, almost falling on his back. However, he ended up using his nine tails to support his balance. After regaining his b balance with his tails, he immediately engulfed himself in an aura of flames before springing off the floor with his tails. The spring motion allowed him to charge in with Flare Blitz instead of just running to utilize.

"Aura Sphere again!"

"Mew...!" Mew would try Aura Sphere again, going for an up-close shot. However, thanks to the spring motion of Ninetales, Flare Blitz approached faster than expected, catching Mew off guard. Before he could form a sizable Aura Sphere, the Fox Pokemon crashed into him. "Mew!"

"Yes!" Sci-Twi expressed happiness with that impact as Ninetales suffered some more recoil damage. However, Mew had been launched back as a trade-off.

"Nice. Psyshock!"

"Mew-Mew...!" Three thick masses of purple, azure blue, and pink energy formed in front of the New Species Pokemon's body which were then held by his paws and his tail. By making a quick recovery he threw the first two before then slapping the third one with his tail.

"Hidden Power!"

"Ninetales!" Ninetales would retaliate with his own orbs as well in the form of Hidden Power. But his had greater numbers, possessing draconic energy in them to boot as they were all sent straight towards the orbs of Psyshock.

The nine orbs met with the three orbs, but despite having fewer numbers, Mew's orbs packed more power behind them. The first three they came across were absolutely obliterated, heading for the other three. It was a clash between orbs that sparked across the air, sending beautiful colours around.

"Try that thing you did before! Extrasensory on those orbs!" Sci-Twi commanded, utilizing the trick that Ninetales did earlier in the battle just to impress her.

"Nine!" Ninetales would do just that. By using Extrasensory, he affected his orbs with Psychic power. And that influence was just what he needed in this case. The extra power managed to match that of Psyshock. Three Hidden Power orbs clashed with the Psyshock orbs, resulting in an immediate struggle while the remaining three had snuck up behind Mew, hitting him.

"Mew!" Mew's eyes widened as he lost focus. Thus, Hidden Power combined with Extrasensory broke through Psyshock, smashing into the Psychic-Type. "Mew!"

"I'm actually doing it! You see this, Spike? Zorua?" Excited, Sci-Twi had to look at her bag, hoping that her friends were acknowledging her current accomplishments.

"Yeah! You're great! But...Mew! Dark Pulse!"

"Mew-Mew!" Suddenly, appearing above Ninetales via teleportation was Mew. He wasn't within the smoke that emerged from the impact of Hidden Power. With this advantage, the New Species Pokemon unleashed a pulse of darkness imbued with dark thoughts from above, smacking Ninetales in the head with them and eventually consuming him.

"Nine!" Ninetales' eyes bulged before being consumed in a black explosion. Flying out of this darkened combustion was Mew after delivering the initial attack. And next in line to exit out of it was Ninetales. However, Ninetales didn't withstand it at all. Dark Pulse did the trick as he had fainted. "Ninetales..."

"Oh, Ninetales!" Sci-Twi gasped, running to Ninetales' side. While Ninetales wasn't her Pokemon, this was the first time she had seen a teammate faint. Thus, Twilight showed great concern, coming to Ninetales' aid. "Are you alright?!"

"Nine..."

"Don't get too shaken up by a Pokemon fainting, Twilight," said Bertha. "But it is nice that you're so considerate. Even if Ninetales isn't yours."

"Sorry for making you lose, Ninetales." Sci-Twi helped him before receiving a nudge on the face by the Fox Pokemon. She giggled, returning him to his Poke Ball for some rest. "Rest up, please."

"Hey. You've got an advantage over Mew. Go on." Spike nudged Hisuian Zorua, trying to encourage her to get involved.

"Mm-mm! Can't do it!" But Zorua still wasn't big on battling. Thus, she hid away inside bag, locking the zip while Spike shook his head in disappointment.

"Well...There's one Pokemon that's mine who I can count on." Sci-Twi held out her next Poke Ball. "I was thinking of an Electric-Type to carry me through this. I would've used Alpha Pikachu but Bertha has her so..."

"Pika-Pika!" Inside Bertha's bag, Alpha Pikachu was too busy filling his stomach with all of the treats that the Elite 4 Member had to offer. He opened up the bag, revealing his messy face before waving at his original trainer. The Mouse Pokemon would then lick the pink mess off his face before then continuing to snack away.

"There's someone else who I can count on! Please, come out! Luxio!" Sci-Twi's next choice was Luxio. Alpha Luxio was perhaps the only Pokemon in her party who was ready for anything aside from Alpha Pikachu. Alpha Rapidash was too stubborn and barely listens to her. Zorua is too shy. Munchlax is a wild card since he could be hungry one second and ready to battle the next. Luxio and Pikachu were the aces in the hole.

"Luxio!"

"Luxio, huh...That could be a bit tricky to deal with. Oh well. Let's spook them, Mew." Pinkie Pie rubbed her hooves as she and Mew decided to get a bit playful, wanting to give Twilight and Luxio a scare.

"Mew-Mew!" Mew nodded in agreement. He immediately transformed his body on the spot, emerging as a Pokemon that would be a massive counter to Luxio. Twilight and Luxio squinted their eyes before widening them. Their hearts skipped a beat as the Pokemon Mew emerged as was a Ground-Type. Specifically, Nidoking. "Nidoking!

"Gah!"

"Luxio?!"

"KIdding~" Pinkie and Mew giggled as Mew swiftly reverted to his normal form. "I'll play fair. That'd just be too easy to exploit, don't ya think?"

"Mew-Mew!"

"Hah..." Sci-Twi and Luxio collectively sighed in unison. That was a relief. Had that been the opponent they faced, a different song would've been playing right now. "Okay. Here we go!"

"Luxio! Night Slash!"

"Lux!" It would be Luxio who would surprise Mew next. He already surprised him by turning into a Nidoking, now it was time for Mew to be surprised as one of Luxio's moves was threatening to the Psychic-Type as he came running in with dark-coated claws.

"Oh!" Pinkie Pie even had to take notice of this. "Mew! Dark Pulse!"

"Mew!" Mew felt the approaching threat as well, quickly unleashing a short-burst Dark Pulse that was faster but lacked the full power. Thus, this allowed Luxio to absolutely power through.

"Luxio!" Luxio's claws slashed through the pulse of darkness, cleaving it in half before he then got in Mew's face. Mew was stunned before receiving a barrage of slashes from the Electric-Type, sending dark sparks flying everywhere.

"M-Mew!" Mew went flying, hurling through the air and holding his face from all those scratches. Luckily, there weren't any marks on him.

"Great! Now, use Night Slash again!"

"Xio!" Luxi would continue using Night Slash, jumping as high as he could while having darkness enveloped around his tail, just for extra measure.

"Yikes! Mew! Psyshock!"

"Mew...!" Mew would hasten this. By rolling in the air to recover, he summoned those three orbs once more. The orbs then formed into thick Psychic masses, larger in size and stronger in power. Luxio would try and cut through these ones as well but to absolute failure. Psyshock won this exchange, blasting the Spark Pokemon back to the ground.

"Lux!"

"Luxio! Are you alright?!"

He indeed was but that impact was not to be ignored. Mew had already evened the playing field with that potent Psyshock, which seemed to be the strong move in his arsenal. He got back up, shaking his head there were already tatters on him just from one attack.

"No doubt about it...I can feel that they're both incredibly strong..." Sci-Twi said to herself. "Pinkie wasn't being honest about her strength. Especially if Mew's on her side. But if I can just get Mew down, I can win this. Maybe."

"Mew! Dark Pulse!"

"Mew!" While Twilight was speaking to herself, Mew would attack, unleashing a full-power Dark Pulse from above. It was Twilight's call to find a way to deal with this pulse. Luxio waited on guard.

"Discharge!"

"Lux!" A great choice as Luxio would retaliate with a flare of electricity. By unleashing this flare, Dark Pulse and Discharge entered a fierce clash with each other where Discharge was whipping the beam but Dark Pulse would continue coming.

That's when Bertha saw it. Sci-Twi, minutes ago started off as being too unsure, unable to utilize Ash's Lucario's Aura properly. But with some confidence, she brought something promising. Bertha saw the makings of a great trainer within Twilight. A Trainer that was capable of catching many Alpha Pokemon.

And possibly more. Right now, Bertha was banking on one thing. Her lessons of observation involved teaching everyone what they could do best. She had already seen it with Ash and how his vast imagination leads to him creating unpredictable tactics. The same could also be said for Pinkie Pie, who just went with the flow. Bertha was waiting for something unique to Twilight to show itself in battle.

"This won't do! Uh..." Sci-Twi looked at her surroundings, seeing what she could use. That's when her smarts took control of this battle. This was a carnival so there was always something nearby. Right now, this room only had some food to buy, the casual windows that showed the outside and checkered tiles. Only one of them mattered. "That's it! Luxio! Get moving!"

"Luxio!" Luxio ended the clash between Discharge and Dark Pulse jetting off. Right on time as Dark Pulse hit the ground, narrowly missing the Spark Pokemon.

"Hm? What are you up to, buckaroo? After him with Psyshock!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.

"Mew-Mew!" Mew would surround himself with a Psychic barrier. Out of that barrier, the three thick masses had returned, chasing Luxio down while Mew also moved with it, multitasking in the process.

"Here goes! Shine next to that window pane!"

"Xio!" That's when he unleashed the electricity from his body in the form of light instead of a physical force. By using the window panes, the Spark Pokemon unleashed a blinding light that reflected from it. He unleashed a flare so bright and blinding that it stunned Mew, preventing him from going any further.

"M-Mew!"

"Holy moly!" Pinkie Pie was affected by this as well while Twilight covered her glasses. Even Bertha, Pikachu, Zorua and Spike had to close their eyes for this. It didn't help that the setting sun complimented this flare.

"Yes! Now, use Night Slash!"

"Luxio!" Luxio capitalized on this chance. Mew was stunned, giving him the opportunity to strike while the iron was hot. However, despite Sci-Twi having a clever plan, there was one major roadblock in the way.

Mew's Barrier.

When swinging his paw, Luxio smashed Night Slash into the barrier, only for it to stay up, even in Mew's stunned state. Luxio gasped, shocked that his attack didn't go through.

"It didn't work?!" Twilight gasped.

"Sorry! It was a neat plan, but Mew's barrier says otherwise! Aura Sphere!"

"Mew-Mew-Mew!" Mew held out his paws even while stunned. He could still gather up the power of Aura, creating a sphere within the barrier he was already in. And with this combination of attacks, Aura Sphere burst out of Mew's Psyshock barrier, hitting Luxio in the process.

"Lux!" Thus, Luxio was sent propelling downwards from the explosion of Aura. Sci-Twi closed her eyes as the impact of Luxio hitting the ground was fairly meaty, strong enough to blow her hair and almost knock her glasses off.

"Ah! Luxio, no!"

"L-Luxio..." And that did the trick. Luxio was down and out once that smoke cleared. Despite his efforts, Mew took the victory yet again, scoring Pinkie Pie her second win.

"Might've gone a bit overboard there but woo!" Pinkie Pie jumped for joy with her second victory. "Great stuff, Mew!"

"T-Thank you, Luxio." Sci-Twi closed her eyes before returning Luxio to his Poke Ball. "You were amazing out there. Battling with you felt like a new kind of sensation."

"Hm-hm." Bertha approved of this nicely as Alpha Pikachu was finally done stuffing his stomach. He laid on his back, patting his stomach as another bite was impossible at this point. But before Lucario was next in line to assist Twilight once again, something happened.

The lights within this room had gone off. Everything had been darkened as the moon was about to show itself. Those orange skies vanished as a substitute for the navy blue heavens. Nightfall had arrived. But more than that, once the skies changed colour, the lights came back on but with a different appearance.

Colourful lights of different varieties that would only befit a carnival had sprouted up. The employees were right when they said that the carnival looks better during the night. No one was going to argue against that prior to this happening. Speaking of the employees, one of them entered by opening the door to this room.

"Hey, hey! Come on!" The employee shouted. "It's time to go!"

"Huh? What's going on?" Sci-Twi asked the employee. "Is something big happening?"

"Indeed. At this time, all battles are postponed for one thing. We're a carnival at the end of the day, so during this time, we party!" The employee exclaimed before leaving. The battle between these two was put on hold for tonight's party. For Sci-Twi it felt like a slight relief. If anything, this was a way to prepare for what could come next.

"Well, best get going." Bertha sat up. "Either way, that was an amazing battle you two had. Even if it's halted."

"Oh yeah! I never miss out on a party either!" Pinkie Pie rushed over to Twilight once the battle was halted. "We'll finish up tomorrow morning. But that was a good one, Twilight. How are you feeling now?"

"For my first trainer battle, it was something special. Is this what you all feel when battling?"

"It is. The rush of a Pokemon is unmatched by many. Very few things in this world can rival it." Bertha added. "Never forget that excitement that you felt. It's the sensation of a Pokemon Battle that develops and grows a trainer. Think of it like magic."

"I'm more a science kind of girl. But that works for me. They picked a good time to have that party because..." Sci-Twi then stretched her arms, yawning. "I'm getting pretty tired. I saw some bedrooms while exploring this place for a while. We might be able to rest here."

"Sweet! But come on! Let's get going!" Pinkie Pie sped things up, wanting to get to the party as soon as she could. Of course, healing their Pokemon was a top priority before anything else as they departed from this room.

Everyone was there at the heart of the carnival. Some trainers had postponed their battle for this celebration while others had finished. The Trainers and the crowd that watched their battles had arrived at this one spot where the massive celebration was held.

That included Rainbow Dash, Cadence and Shining Armor. Despite aiming to take them both on at the same time, Rainbow Dash would have to wait until tomorrow for that to happen. Ash, Cloudchaser, Flitter and everyone else had shown up as to be expected.

Right now, at this party, a parade was going on. A parade showing off Pokemon with carnival attributes added onto them. Sci-Twi and the others were the last to join.

"Hey. How'd your battles go?" Ash asked once they approached.

"It's not over yet. It'll be just your Lucario against Pinkie's Mew and whichever Pokemon she was lent. But now, I got to feel what you all feel when you battle."

"It's a great feeling. So great that we're still getting used to it." Cloudchaser commented before looking over at Sci-Twi. "Uh...Princess Twilight?"

"When did this happen?" Flitter questioned upon seeing Sci-Twi. The resemblance to Twilight was uncanny. It didn't help that Princess Twilight Sparkle was already standing nearby, waving at them, only creating further confusion. "Wait...What?"

"Human counterparts. Don't think about it too much, okay?" Hilda replied, erasing their confusion. "So, if we win a lot of battles, we can reach the boss of this place. Anyone got far enough?"

"Not yet. But I wanna meet that boss and win it." Ash responded.

"You mean when I meet it. Before you get the chance, I'll be the first, Ash." Hilbert proudly said. "As the number one trainer, I gotta make sure I'm one step ahead of everyone."

"Number one? As if." Flitter scoffed, grabbing Hilbert's attention. Hilda already knew what would come from this.

"Shouldn't have said that..." A disappointed Hilda shook her head as Hilbert was ready to babble on. Immediately, an argument between Hilbert and Hilda took place. "It wasn't this bad back at Pasio..."

"After this, let's head to Nimbasa City for PokeStar Studios. They're making a movie about Equestria." Ash suggested.

"I told you, they don't have Princess Celestia yet. So, it might not happen this Friday. Either way, can't wait to star in it. Are you gonna star in it too, Ash?" Cloudchaser questioned while Pikachu, Victini and everyone else grabbed some snacks. Victini and Hoopa went with their usual way of appearing invisible to grab something.

"We'll see when we get there. I'd love to star in it as much as I'd love to be in it. And really...seeing how they appreciate their nation is gonna be nice to experience." A smile graced his face. "I appreciate it too. I'm glad that I found Equestria on that day."

"Glad we found your world too, Ash," Twilight added. "I remember when we first passed through the gateway and came across Pallet Town. You certainly didn't take all that Rift and gateway stuff seriously the first time."

"That's for sure." Ash laughed thinking back to that very first day. The first day of this long-lasting event was something that he would never forget. "That's why I've gotta help keep it together. Everything from this world and your world works so well and makes new bonds. No matter how long it takes, I'll make sure that we're all one."

"And you have our full support, Ash," Bertha replied. "From an Elite 4 Member such as myself and other Elite 4s. Gym Leaders, Champions and all. Any official would gladly love to keep things the way they are. Something special has been created here after all."

"Thanks, Bertha. And everyone."

"By the way...that's got me thinking." It was then that Cloudchaser asked a burning question. "Who runs your world? You got like a...government or something like that?"

"We do," Bertha answered.

"We do?" But immediately, Ash, Hilda and even Hilbert who stopped arguing with Flitter, said in unison. To them, this was a surprising revelation despite being within the Pokemon World longer than those from the other world. All they could do was just laugh about it and carry on with the party. Until tomorrow comes.

Kalos. Snowbelle City. Nightfall.

Snowbelle City.

Colder during the night, everyone here was wearing something to protect them from this chilling aura. All except for Princess Luna, who wasn't wearing anything to protect her.

Mainly because she was practically immune to it. Living on the moon for thousands of years and being the most active during the night will do that to someone. Mainly a powerful magical alicorn.

Luna had already enjoyed herself with the Pokemon Festival on the second day as per Darkrai's request while he goes over and finds Galaxy Master. She even spent some time with the Canterlot Guards who were with her. Those guards had already fallen asleep, held by their Golurks to keep the warm.

There was a soothing sensation at this Pokemon Festival here in Snowbelle City. Soothing enough to put anyone to sleep. But, Luna had to guard their dreams instead of sleeping. Though she was told to kick back, relax and enjoy the festival, she still followed her duties.

However, before she could leave for the Dream Realm and the Hyperdream, someone emerged from the shadows. Luna spotted this as a bright smile was put on her face. Shadows plus emergence meant only one thing. Her friend Darkrai was returning.

"Darkrai!" She exclaimed with enthusiasm. But the moment Darkrai emerged from the shadows, he appeared to be a bad condition. Tatters were around his body as he could barely stand upright. "Darkrai?! Darkrai, what happened?! Are you alright?!" A distraught Luna rushed over.

"I'm fine...just a bit bruised, that's all," Darkrai replied, groaning.

"Where's Galaxy Master?! Did he do this to you?!" Luna growled, thinking about Galaxy Master. Who else would just attack Darkrai?

"It was him. But Luna, listen...It's not his fault." Darkrai confirmed that it was Galaxy Master who did this to him, however, he had something else to say. "Listen. There's more to this than black and white."

"More to this than black and white?"

Equestria. Magehold. Dark Chamber. Nightfall.

Magehold was at its most ominous during the night. The moon was even clearer under the night sky, bringing nothing but dread to this already horrible place. And still resting within it was the unconscious and captured Fantina.

But not for long.

Because right now, Fantina was about to awake. With a light grumble and eyes that were struggling to open up, the Hearthome City Gym Leader was awakening from her unconscious state at last. However, Fantina wouldn't be greeted with the sight of the beautiful moon or her lovely city. Something else would greet her. Something dreadful.

As the journey continues.

Chapter 874 End.
