While on the road to Mahogany Town the girls make a quick stop in a small town to rest.
“So how much longer before we reach Ecruteak City?” Fluttershy asked before Turquoise checked her Pokegear.
“Not far, another day and we will be there,” Turquoise said. The girls were in the middle of lunch when a familiar face appeared.
“Long time no see ladies,” A familiar voice which was revealed to be Loki said.
“Hi Loki,” Turquoise said.
“What brings you here?” Fluttershy asked.
“Just passing through on my way to Mahogany Town, “Loki said. “I assume you girls are doing the same?”
“We are but we are making a slight stop in Ecruteak first,” Turquoise said.
“That reminds me? How many badges do you have so far?” Loki asked.
“Six,” Turquoise said while showing him her badge case.
“Same here,” Loki said while doing the same but his sixth badge was something different from the mineral badge.
“Where did you get that badge?” Turquoise asked referring to Loki’s badge that was shaped like a whirlpool.
“From a gym on Red Rock Isle,” Loki said before continuing. “After getting my Storm Badge per chuck’s recommendation I visited the Whirl Isles where my pokemon and I did some serious training.
“Cool, up for a battle?” Turquoise asked.
“Sure but first how many pokemon do you have on you?” Loki asked.
“Six,” Turquoise said.
“Then why don’t we make this interesting and have a full six-on-six battle,” Loki suggested.
“Sounds good,” Turquoise said. With the format, the girls and Loki went to the battlefield behind the Pokemon Center where Fluttershy offered to be the ref for this battle.
“This will be a full six-on-six battle with substitutions allowed on both sides and the battle will be over when all of one side's pokemon are unable to continue,” Fluttershy said as loud as she could. “Both trainers call out your first pokemon.
“Go Corsola,” Loki said as he called out a creature made of pink coral. Turquoise being curious as always pulled out her Pokedex for info.
“Corsola, the Coral Pokemon, It will regrow any branches that break off its head. People keep particularly beautiful Corsola branches as charms to promote safe childbirth,” The Pokedex said.
“I’m guessing you caught Corsola while on the Whirl Isles?” Turquoise asked.
“Exactly,” Loki said.
“In that case go Meganium,” Turquoise said as she called out her Meganium who was raring to go.
“Let the battle begin,” Fluttershy said.
“Meganium use Magical Leaf. Meganium unleashed her attack which Loki was expecting.
“Corsola use Light Screen. Corsola erected a cube of blue energy around itself which blocked the Magical Leaf before going invisible “Now use Bubblebeam. Corsola fired a beam of bubbles from its mouth which took Meganium by surprise and inflicted some light damage.
“Not bad but it will take more than that to win against us, Meganium use vine whip. Meganium extended her vines before hitting Corsola with them and knocking it on its side. “Now use Body Slam. Meganium leaped into the air before landing on Corsola and crushing it beneath her weight.
“You won’t beat us that easily. Corsola use Endure. Corsola managed to push Meganium off it even though it looked like it could barely continue.”Time for our secret weapon. Corsola use Icicle Spears. Corsola fired a bunch of icicles from its branches which had turquoise worried for a moment.
“Dodge and use Vine Whip again. Meganium tried to dodge but her heavy body made it hard and she took the full force of all five icicles. Luckily she was still in it and managed to unleash a vine whip powered by Overgrow that knocked Corsola out.
“Corsola is unable to battle, Meganium is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her right arm at Turquoise.
“Corsola return,” Loki said as he recalled Corsola. “You fulfilled your purpose now rest.
“You return as well Meganium,” Turquoise said as she recalled Meganium. Turquoise awaited Loki’s next pokemon.
“Go Pikachu,” Loki said as he called out his Pikachu who looked determined to battle.
“In that case, Go Gabite,” Turquoise said as she called out Gabite.
“Where did you find a Gabite?” Loki asked impressed.
“I caught it when it was a Gible at the Valor Lakefront in Sinnoh,” Turquoise said.
“You went to Sinnoh?” Loki asked.
“For the Wallace Cup,” Turquoise said before they continued the battle.
“Pikachu use Quick Attack. Pikachu moved as fast as lightning which took Gabite by surprise. Now use Iron Tail. Pikachu was about to nail Gabite with a tail made of iron until Turquoise reacted.
“Dodge and use Dual Chop. Gabite was able to dodge and managed to nail Pikachu with a pair of chops courtesy of the frills beneath his arms. Pikachu tried to get back up but fainted instead.
“Pikachu is unable to battle, Gabite is the winner,” Fluttershy said as she pointed her right flag at Turquoise.
“Return Pikachu,” Loki said as he recalled his Pikachu. “I must admit your Gabite is very strong.
“Thanks.” Turquoise said.
“But can it stand up to my next pokemon?” Loki asked before pulling out his next Pokeball. “ Go Snorunt. A small creature that looked like a pointy hat with a face appeared and began dancing around. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for information.
“Snorunt, The Snow Hat Pokemon, It can only survive in cold areas. It bounces happily around, even in environments as cold as -150 degrees Fahrenheit,” The Pokedex said.
“I will stick with my Gabite,” Turquoise said.
“Suit yourself, Snorunt use Frost Breath. Snorunt unleashed its icy breath which was heading towards Gabite.
“Dodge and use Sandtomb. Gabite managed to dodge the attack and tried to trap Snorunt in the sand.
“Use Protect,” The Sand covered Snorunt and it looked like the attack was successful until the sand slid down what looked like a green barrier that Snorunt was inside.
“Looks like Snorunt was able to use its move just in the nick of time,” Loki said. “Now use Double Team. Snorunt split itself into multiple copies that were now circling Gabite making it hard for him to find the real one. “Now use Frost Breath. All the copies unleashed frost breath which nailed Gabite who could not dodge this one and fainted.
“Gabite is unable to battle, Snorunt is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her left flag at Loki.
“Return Gabite,” Turquoise said as she recalled Gabite. “You did great now rest. Turquoise considered her next option carefully since most of her remaining pokemon were weak to Ice-type moves. She then made her choice. “Go Espeon. Espeon came out and was ready to go.
“Snorunt use Bite. Snorunt charged at Espeon who was awaiting Turquoise’s command.
“Dodge and use Psychic. Espeon nimbly dodged and managed to slam Snorunt with a powerful psychic which resulted in a critical hit. Even though Snorunt took a ton of damage it managed to survive but just barely.
“Snorunt use Double team. Snorunt once again multiplied and was moving around the field in a mocking way like a showoff thinking he won.
“Focus and use Psybeam. Espeon closed her eyes and listened for the sound of the real Snorunt. Fortunately for Espeon the real Snorunt stepped on some of the ice that was made from its frost breath which was where Espeon fired her Psybeam and successfully hit the real Snorunt and finished it.
“Snorunt is unable to battle, Espeon is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her right flag at Turquoise.
“Return Snorunt,” Loki said as he recalled Snowrunt. Loki needed something that could go toe to toe with Espeon and made his next choice. “Go Leavanny. A bipedal leaf creature suddenly came out and looked ready to go. Turquoise once again used her Pokedex to learn about it.
“Leavanny, The Nurturing Pokemon and the final evolved form of Sewaddle, Upon finding a small Pokémon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves by using the sticky silk secreted from its mouth,” The Pokedex said. Turquoise decided to stick with Espeon.
“Espeon use swift. Espeon unleashed her swift which did not faze Loki one bit.
“Predictable, Leavanny use Leaf Blade. Leavanny’s arms glowed as she sliced up the stars and ran towards Espeon with impressive speed before delivering a great hit.
“Where did your Leavanny learn to run so fast?” Turquoise asked.
“From Don frank’s Training Center on Red Rock Isle,” Loki said before continuing his commands. “Now use X-scissor. Leavanny charged at Espeon while doing X-scissor.
“Dodge it. Espeon tried to dodge but Leavanny was much faster and managed to land a powerful hit which finished Espeon off.
“Espeon is unable to battle, Leavanny is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her left flag at Loki.
“Return Espeon,” Turquoise said as she recalled Espeon. Turquoise wasted no time in choosing her next pokemon. “Go Hunchkrow. Hunchkrow came out and hovered over the battlefield. It was a battle of speed with both sides giving it their all.
“Leavanny use Energy Ball. Leavanny fired its Energy Ball at Hunchkrow which did not faze Turquoise one bit.
“Hunchkrow send it back with Wing Attack. Hunchkrow volleyed it back with added power which knocked Leavanny out.
Leavanny is unable to battle, Hunchkrow is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her right flag at Turquoise.
“Return Leavanny,” Loki said as he recalled Leavanny. He was now down to just two pokemon while Turquoise still had four remaining. He suddenly had a plan to even the score and pulled out his next Pokeball. “Go Lairon. A big metal quadrupedal creature with piercing blue eyes appeared and unleashed a roar. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for info on Lairon.
“Lairon, The Iron Armor pokemon, Lairon live in mountains brimming with spring water and iron ore, so these Pokémon often came into conflict with humans in the past,” The Pokedex said.
“Return Hunchkrow,” Turquoise said as she recalled Hunchkrow. Turquoise wanted to bring in someone fresh to take on Lairon and made her choice. “Go Umbreon. Umbreon was raring to go.
“Battle resume,” Fluttershy said.
“Umbreon use Shadow Ball. Umbreon unleashed his Shadow Ball which nailed Lairon who just took it.
“Not bad but not good enough, Lairon use Roar. Lairon unleashed its Roar which forced Umbreon to withdraw and be replaced with Meganium who was still tired from her match with Corsola.
“Meganium use Petal Dance. Meganium unleashed her powered-up Petal Dance which Lairon took the full force off which resulted in massive damage but not enough to finish it off.
“Not bad but we are not down yet. Lairon use Iron Head. Lairon charged at Meganium with a glow covering its entire body.
“Meganium use Body Slam. Meganium leaped into the air and collided with Lairon which resulted in both Pokemon pushing against each other. The struggle kept going for a bit until both Pokemon suddenly fainted.
“Both Pokemon are unable to battle so this match is a draw,” Fluttershy said while crossing her flags.
“Return Lairon,” Loki said as he recalled Lairon.
“Return Meganium,” Turquoise said as she recalled Meganium. Loki was now down to his last pokemon while turquoise still had three left. Turquoise already knew what Loki’s final Pokemon would be after seeing all his others.
“Go Typhlosion,” Loki said as he called out his final pokemon which was a big blue and cream bipedal creature with orange flames by its head. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex for the final time.
“Typhlosion, The Volcano Pokemon and the evolved form of Quilava, It attacks using blasts of fire. It creates heat shimmers with intense fire to hide itself,” The Pokedex said. Turquoise wasted no time in calling out her next pokemon.
“Go Vespiquen,” Turquoise said as Vespiquen came out.
“You challenge my Fire-type with that?” Loki asked.
“It's not just type that is important it's how you use the pokemon that counts too,” Turquoise said.
“Very well, Typhlosion use Lava Plume. Typhlosion unleashed an eruption of fire that rained down onto the field.
“Dodge and use Power Gem. Vespiquen managed to dodge the attack and nail Typhlosion with a super effective hit but it wasn't enough to win.
“Not bad but let’s see you dodge this. Typhlosion use Arial Ace. Typhlosion flew at Vespiquen and managed to nail her and send her falling to the ground. “Now use Flamethrower. Typhlosion managed to nail Vespiquen from up close with enough power to finish her.
“Vespiquen is unable to battle, Typhlosion is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her left flag at Loki.
“Return Vespiquen,” Turquoise said as she recalled Vespiquen. She wasted no time in going for one of her two remaining pokemon. “Come back out Hunchkrow. Hunchkrow returned for more. “Hunchkrow use wing Attack. Hunchkrow flew in with glowing wings which did not faze Loki at all.
“Use Arial Ace. both moves pushed against each other with great force until eventually Typhlosion won and sent Hunchkrow crashing into the ground and finishing it off thus evening the score.
“Hunchkrow is unable to battle, Typhlosion is the winner,” Fluttershy said while pointing her left flag at Loki.
“Return Hunchkrow,” Turquoise said as she recalled Hunchkrow. The battle has now reached its climax with both sides now being down to their final pokemon. “Come back out Umbreon. Umbreon looked raring to go. Both sides gave it their all exchanging blows one after the other and it All came down to one final move from both sides.
“Typhlosion use Flamethrower. Typhlosion unleashed her Flamethrower which was powered up by Blaze.
“Umbreon use Dark Pulse. Umbreon unleashed his Dark Pulse which was equally as powerful. Both moves pushed against each other not giving an inch until the Dark Pulse won and blasted Typhlosion for the final blow.
“Typhlosion is unable to battle, Umbreon is the winner which means Turquoise wins the battle,” Fluttershy said. As soon as both sides recalled their pokemon they shook on a well-thought battle. Once both sides had their pokemon healed they called it a night.
The next morning Turquoise and Loki were discussing their plans.
“So where are you off to now?” Turquoise asked.
“To Mahogany Town to challenge the gym,” Loki said.
“Well good luck with that, as for us we are going back to Ecruteak City and then in the same direction,” Turquoise said. Both parties left and then split off at the crossroads.
